Im Podcast "Blick in die Bibel" spricht Pfarrer Lothar Anhalt aus Linz am Rhein über seinen ungewöhnlichen Weg: erst Kaufmann, dann Kloster auf dem Michelsberg in Siegburg, schließlich Priester im Bistum Trier. Er erzählt offen, warum das Ordensleben nicht sein Weg war. Danach geht es um die Bibelstelle des Tages aus dem Matthäus-Evangelium: Die Jünger wollen Plätze der Macht, doch Jesus stellt alles auf den Kopf. Groß ist, wer dient. Anhalt erklärt: Machtstreben ist menschlich, aber Jesus zeigt eine andere Haltung – demütig, echt und nah bei den Menschen. Eine Folge, die Mut macht, den eigenen Blick auf Erfolg neu zu prüfen – unbedingt reinhören!Aus dem Matthäusevangelium:In jener Zeit, als Jesus nach Jerusalem hinaufzog, nahm er die zwölf Jünger beiseite und sagte unterwegs zu ihnen: Wir gehen nach Jerusalem hinauf; und der Menschensohn wird den Hohepriestern und Schriftgelehrten ausgeliefert; sie werden ihn zum Tod verurteilen und den Heiden ausliefern, damit er verspottet, gegeißelt und gekreuzigt wird; und am dritten Tag wird er auferweckt werden. Damals kam die Frau des Zebedäus mit ihren Söhnen zu Jesus, fiel vor ihm nieder und bat ihn um etwas. Er fragte sie: Was willst du? Sie antwortete: Versprich, dass meine beiden Söhne in deinem Reich rechts und links neben dir sitzen dürfen! Jesus erwiderte: Ihr wisst nicht, um was ihr bittet. Könnt ihr den Kelch trinken, den ich trinken werde? Sie sagten zu ihm: Wir können es. Da antwortete er ihnen: Meinen Kelch werdet ihr trinken; doch den Platz zu meiner Rechten und zu meiner Linken habe nicht ich zu vergeben; dort werden die sitzen, für die es mein Vater bestimmt hat. Als die zehn anderen Jünger das hörten, wurden sie sehr ärgerlich über die beiden Brüder. Da rief Jesus sie zu sich und sagte: Ihr wisst, dass die Herrscher ihre Völker unterdrücken und die Großen ihre Vollmacht gegen sie gebrauchen. Bei euch soll es nicht so sein, sondern wer bei euch groß sein will, der soll euer Diener sein, und wer bei euch der Erste sein will, soll euer Sklave sein. Wie der Menschensohn nicht gekommen ist, um sich dienen zu lassen, sondern um zu dienen und sein Leben hinzugeben als Lösegeld für viele. Kunden ablehnen, wie bescheuert. Bleib dran, vielleicht bist du genauso crazy. Was ist passiert? Ich kann es nicht fassen. Da ist ein Kunde, der will was. Er ist bereit, Geld auszugeben und der Inhaber lehnt es ab. Er lehnt es ab, Geld zu verdienen. Das verstehe ich als Unternehmer nicht. Aber es sind ja auch keine Unternehmer. Heute ist mir das zum zweiten Mal passiert. Ich habe einen Coaching-Tag, der Kunde ist jetzt fertig, und ich wollte ihn zur Thaimassage einladen. Also rufe ich an: „Zwei Leute, eine Stunde." „Heute komplett ausgebucht. Kommen Sie nächste Woche." Ich will nicht nächste Woche. Mein Kunde ist jetzt weg. Ich wollte heute. Heute Samstag, 21.02.26. Also frage ich: „Wann schließen Sie?" „Um 16 Uhr." Ich sage: „Dann machen wir es doch um 16 Uhr. Dann kommen Sie eine Stunde später nach Hause." Antwort: „Nein, wir haben Feierabend." Okay. Dann waren wir frühstücken, außerhalb Bad Dürkheim. Ich schaue: gibt es dort etwas? Ja. Ich rufe an: „Heute geht nicht mehr. Kommen Sie am Montag." Ich: „Nein, ich will nicht am Montag. Ich will heute." Vorschlag: nach Feierabend. Antwort: „Nein, da machen wir Schluss und gehen nach Hause." Und jetzt lass es mal wirken: Da ist ein potenzieller neuer Kunde. Ein potenzieller neuer Kunde, der gibt in einer Stunde 120 Euro aus. 120 Euro auf den Tisch, haben oder nicht haben. So sieht das ein Kaufmann. Und die Gegenseite? „Selbstständig." Aber: „Feierabend." Allein schon, wenn ich das Wort Feierabend höre. Kann man nicht einfach eine Stunde länger arbeiten? Ich weiß, jetzt kommt Gegenwind: „Feierabend ist heilig." Was für ein Blödsinn. Auf der anderen Seite jammern alle: „Die Leute haben kein Geld mehr." Und dann kommt jemand, der will zahlen und man lehnt ab. Reflektiere mal: Bist du auch so ein Feierabend-Typ? In der heutigen Zeit nimmst du alles mit, was geht. Eine Stunde später Feierabend, wo ist das Problem? Und ja, vielleicht hatten die was vor. Natürlich. Jeder hat was vor. Und sei es nur: Nach Hause, Filzpantoffel an, Fernsehen. Es geht doch um Stammkunden. Was wäre passiert? Ich wäre da gewesen mit meinem Kunden. Wir wären begeistert gewesen. Ich wäre wieder hingegangen. Ich hätte es weiterempfohlen. So schnell kann man sich vom Erfolg abschießen, weil man lieber Feierabend hat. Und genau das macht uns kaputt: Immer weniger arbeiten, immer weniger. „Work-Life-Balance." Was für ein Blödsinn. Wir quälen uns 5 Tage die Woche in einem Job, der uns ankotzt, um 2 Tage „Leben" zu haben. Dann ändere es. Such dir Möglichkeiten, dass du immer Balance hast, ohne diese kranke Trennung zwischen Arbeit und Freizeit. Heute habe ich keine Thaimassage. Ich überlebe das. Aber: Ich gehe dort nicht mehr hin. Ich habe keine Lust auf so eine Sch….. Meine Empfehlung als Unternehmer: Wenn Kunde da ist, mach es möglich. Es kommt auf dich zurück. Du gewinnst Vertrauen, Stammkunden, Empfehlungen. In diesem Sinne: Pass auf dich auf. This week Ryan Tsapatsaris is back and joins Elizabeth for discussion about bullying behaviors.  A recent study of Middle and High School aged participants revealed that bullied students admitted to also engaging in bullying behaviors.  The relationship was stronger for gender non-conforming students than for cisgender students.  Transgender identities were also more strongly associated with perpetration of bullying than subjection to bullying.  Ryan and Elizabeth describe the study and findings.  We also discuss some interesting aspects of the data set, which becomes a jumping off point for a summary of recent trends in gender identification: As of 2023, Generation Z survey respondents have been much less likely to identify as either trans or queer.  We also talk about the risks involved in doing this kind of research and secondary analysis of data.  Social scientists should be able to pose difficult and unpopular questions, and extend research and theory to contemporary social issues, without constant worries about interpersonal and professional cancellation campaigns.Podcast notesTopic article:Heino, E., Ellonen, N., & Kaltiala, R. Today Razib talks to Eric Kaufmann, a Canadian professor of politics at the University of Buckingham, where he directs the Centre for Heterodox Social Science. He earned his BA from the University of Western Ontario and his MA and PhD from the London School of Economics. Prior to his current role, he held positions at the University of Southampton and Birkbeck, University of London, which he left in October 2023. He is the author of several books, including Whiteshift: Immigration, Populism and the Future of White Majorities, Shall the Religious Inherit the Earth?, and The Third Awokening. His research interests include nationalism, political and religious demography, and national identity. Kaufmann is a previous guest on the podcast. Razib and Kaufmann begin their conversation by exploring the thesis of one of his earlier works, 2004's Rise and Fall of Anglo-America. They discuss the definition of “WASP,” White Anglo-Saxon Protestant, and cultural changes in the white American majority because of the massive immigration waves of the 19th and early 20th century. Kaufman argues that a coalition of liberal WASPs and “white ethnics” was instrumental in the eventual overthrow of the cultural hegemony of elite Protestant whites in the second half of the 20th century. Razib and Kaufman then relate the history of the WASPs to his latest book, The Third Awokening, which chronicles the rise of “cultural socialism” centered around race. Kaufman documents the potency of the ideas of the latest variant of wokeness, their traction among the youth, and argues for its historical roots in earlier forms of Anglo liberalism.
