How are workers and educators responding? In this special report, from a conference held at the CUNY School of Labor and Urban Studies (SLU) in New York City, Laura spoke with Rebecca “Becky” Pringle, president of the National Education Association, the largest union in the country, about labor solidarity in the deep-red state of Utah; history professor Robert Cassannello, a plaintiff in a successful suit against Florida Gov. DeSantis's Stop Woke Act; and Rev. Ryan Brown, an Amazon worker/organizer from North Carolina, about how workers and educators are fighting back, and even winning in these times, although the obstacles are immense. Doutora em Letras pela UFF, onde vai começar a dar aula este mês, Mariana pesquisa especialmente a história de mulheres marginalizadas. Seu pós-doc investiga as trabalhadoras domésticas que se tornaram escritoras e seu próximo livro, que vai se chamar "O vôo da mulher arara" (também pela Companhia das Letras), reconstrói a memória de mulheres migrantes dos anos 50. Nesse bate-papo com Juliana, Mariana fala sobre sua trajetória e sobre o que aprende todos os dias com suas pesquisas. Madeleine Darya Alizadeh kennen die meisten von euch wahrscheinlich eher als "Dariadaria". Das ist ihr Name in den sozialen Netzwerken, wo sie Lifestyle-Content postet, aber auch immer wieder politische Statements – zu Rassismus, Feminismus und Nachhaltigkeit. Wer sich zu diesen Themen im Netz äußert – zumal mit ihrer Reichweite – der muss verdammt gut mit Kritik, Häme und Hass umgehen können. Madeleine hat mir erzählt, wie ihre Ansprüche an sich selbst, an ihren Konsum und das ständige „bewertet werden“ sie in psychische Ausnahmesituationen gebracht haben. Warum macht sie trotzdem weiter? Wir haben darüber gesprochen, wie sie im Bikini versucht, den Algorithmus auszutricksen, und mit ihrem eigenen Modelabel die Fashion-Industrie verändern will. In der zweiten Hälfte ging es dann unter anderem um das Thema Familienplanung. Madeleine hat nämlich - Stand jetzt - für sich entschieden, dass sie keine Kinder will. Auch das offenbar ein extrem polarisierendes Thema, aber eben auch ein extrem persönliches. Deshalb fand ich es superspannend, sie so offen über ihre Gründe sprechen zu hören. Und bevor ihr jetzt denkt: „Uff, das klingt alles ganz schön schwer,“ - wir haben auch viel gelacht, über Kartoffeln und Staubsaugerroboter - und ich hab ein paar richtig gute Tipps bekommen, wie man in Sachen Mode seinen eigenen Stil definieren kann. Gary ‘Smickers' Smith was Johnny ‘Mad Dog' Adair's deputy on the Shankill. As a UFF hitman, he was involved in over 20 sectarian murders. Smith lived in exile in Scotland upon his release from the Maze prison. Last year he was convicted of sexual communications with a 12-year-old boy – he narrowly avoided jail.
