The Bible instructs us not to be conformed to the pattern of the world; the book of Ephesians gives us a Biblical pattern as part of our model.

Finally, be empowered in the Lord and in the might of His strength. Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the stratagems of the devil, For our wrestling is not against blood and flesh but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the world-rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenlies. Therefore take up the whole armor of God that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Ephesians 6:10-13. As believers who love the Lord and who are standing for His testimony, we must not be ignorant of the schemes of God's enemy in his attacks on the church. In order to help educate and inoculate us against such attacks, the co-workers in North America have released a series of articles on ShepherdingWords.com, which expose the stratagems of the devil. This week, we have a narration of the article entitled “Assailing the Ground of Oneness (1): the Genuine Ground of the Church According to the Teaching and Practice of the New Testament,” originally published on October 26, 2020. There is much confusion and debate among Christians today about what the church is and how it should be practiced. This is despite the fact that the New Testament clearly portrays how the church was formed and practiced among the early believers. By claiming that such portrayals are merely descriptive rather than prescriptive, some have excused non-biblical bases of establishing churches and the practice of alternative “church” models. Some even go as far as attacking the genuine ground of the church and those who stand for it. Using numerous verses from the New Testament, this article clearly defines the church in its two aspects and the practice of the church based on locality. May the Lord supply us through this speaking and equip us to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. The original article can be found at: https://shepherdingwords.com/assailing-the-ground-of-oneness-1-the-genuine-ground-of-the-church-according-to-the-teaching-and-practice-of-the-new-testament/. We often speak of going to church, being the church, and being a part of the church, but what exactly is the church? Or who is the church, for that matter? Session 2 of our Sunday School series, The Church According to Scripture, centers around these questions. This live stream was in Pastor Matt's home office as the church was closed due to snow making travel hazardous.
In this episode we study throughout Scripture from Old to New Testament and discuss the 2 most dangerous satanic doctrines in the church today. Welcome back! We were on a short break dealing with work, life and the birth of a baby but we're looking forward to getting back to recording! In today's episode we'll be talking about the Mission of the Church according to the Bible. The Bible gives us three clear examples of the mission of the church:THE MISSION OF THE CHURCH IS TO MAKE DISCIPLESMatthew 28:16-20THE MISSION OF THE CHURCH IS TO GLORIFY CHRIST Ephesians 1:11-12THE MISSION OF THE CHURCH BUILD UP THE SAINTS1 Thessalonians 5:112 Corinthians 13:11We also discuss whether or not church's are still focused on the mission right now. Or are they focused on self-preservation and keeping themselves afloat as a business/non-profit. As we look at opening up the church - are we bold, fearless leaders called to action regardless of the consequences? Or are we stepping back listening to our government leaders and "experts" because we just want to get back to what's "safe and comfortable".Stay tuned and be fortified!
Have you ever felt like you were made for something? Is that just an evolutionary drive, or is it real? This passage is a letter from Jesus to the church. But it’s really all about finding and surrendering yourself to that something you were made for. The church shows us what that is.
Andy invites on two friends with different backgrounds who are not going to church They talk about what their perceptions of the church and Christianity are.
Alex speaks about the importance of walking in unity with the Family of God and references the mystery revealed to Paul in Ephesians 3, that the Gospel message was to unify the church across all nations.

09.30.18 - We talk a lot about how the Spirit is active in a person’s life or how a woman or man uses particular Spirit gifts. But according to Jesus, our emphasis should be placed on the Spirit’s corporate work, the indwelling and empowering of the Spirit in and through the Christian community. Speaker: Allan Stanglin.
09.23.18 - We are instructed to do in the world what our Lord did in Galilee. We are his hands and feet. If anybody’s going to meet Jesus in this world, they’re going to meet him through the Church. Speaker: Allan Stanglin.
09.16.18 - Our world is increasingly unsure about Church. Who are these people, these Christians? And what’s the point? The growing skepticism in our culture can even cause us to question the purpose and value of Church. Speaker: Allan Stanglin
The Church According to A Man of Prayer and the Bible -Steve by Impact Harvest Church Podcast
People, even Christians, have many concepts about what the church is. But what is the church exactly? Is the church a building Christians go to on Sundays to worship? Is the church an organization of people who believe in Jesus Christ? To discover what God’s thought is concerning the church, we must come to the Bible. While we can’t cover this enormous matter in a single podcast, we’ll begin to look at what the church is according to God’s Word. A good principle in reading the Bible is to pay special attention to the first mention of a matter. This sets the stage for understanding that matter in the rest of Scripture. The first mention of the word church in the entire Bible is in Matthew 16:18. In this passage, Jesus brings His disciples outside Jerusalem and asks them who they think He is (v. 15). Peter responds by declaring, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God” (v. 16). Jesus tells Peter that he received this revelation from God (v. 17). After such an important revelation, we might think the Lord would speak more about it. But instead, as soon as Jesus confirms this revelation, He responds by declaring: “Upon this rock I will build My church” (v. 18). The revelation of the church here is of such importance to Christ that He pairs it with the revelation of who He is. So we need to find out, what is the church Christ reveals here in Matthew? Let’s look at the word church in the original language of the New Testament. The Greek word for church in this verse is ekklesia, which means out-calling, or assembly of called out ones. So the church, the ekklesia, is the assembly of all people who have been called out of the world by God. The church isn’t a physical building; it’s a group of people. But what makes a person one of these people? Listen to 1 Corinthians 1:2: “To the church of God which is in Corinth, to those who have been sanctified in Christ Jesus, the called saints.” In this verse, Paul addresses his letter “to the church of God,” and in apposition, “to those who have been sanctified in Christ Jesus, the called saints.” Note 3 on this verse in the New Testament Recovery Version explains these two phrases: “To the church of God equals to those who have been sanctified in Christ Jesus. This strongly indicates that the church is a composition of the saints and that the saints are the constituents of the church. The two should not be considered separate entities. Individually, we are the saints; corporately, we are the church.” Both phrases refer to the same thing but have a different emphasis. The phrase the church of God tells us Paul is addressing the ekklesia, the assembly of called out people, and the phrase those who have been sanctified in Christ Jesus tells us something about those called out people. The people who comprise the church are not simply a group of people who believe the same doctrines or have the same ideas and preferences. They aren’t even a group of people who have decided to meet together to worship God. No, the people who compose the church have been sanctified, that is, made holy. How are they sanctified? The verse says they are sanctified in Christ Jesus. Let’s look at the note on this phrase in the New Testament Recovery Version to see what it means: “In Christ means in the element and sphere of Christ. Christ is the element and sphere that separated us, made us holy, unto God when we believed into Him, that is, when we were brought into an organic union with Him through our faith in Him.” How wonderful! It’s in Christ that we’re made holy, that is, separated unto God, and thereby become constituents of the church. So the church isn’t composed of people who have attained to a certain standard or who have fulfilled any outward rule or regulation. The church is composed only of people who have received Christ Jesus through faith in Him! When we receive Christ as our Savior, we are reborn with the divine, eternal life of God. This life, which is just Christ Himself, is the sole qualification for our membership in the church. There’s no other criterion. The church isn’t a club or an organization of like-minded individuals that we can join. It isn’t even a group of people who are knowledgeable about the Christian religion. The church is the assembly of all the people from all of time who have believed in Christ and received the life of God; therefore, we must be born into the church through our regeneration. We’re used to hearing things like, “Where do you go to church?” or “I went to this or that church on Sunday.” But according to the Bible, all those who have received Christ Jesus are the church. We are part of this wonderful, important ekklesia that Christ values so highly. Thank and praise the Lord for all He’s done to redeem us and regenerate us so we could become members of the church! We’ve only touched on what the church is in a simple way in this podcast. Keep an eye out for more podcasts on this enormous and rich topic in the future!
What is the main purpose in life for mankind? What is the main purpose in life for Church? According to an old catechism, the main purpose in life is “to glory God, and enjoy him forever.” According to John Piper, “Missions is not the ultimate goal of the Church. Worship is. Missions exist because worship doesn’t.” In other words, it’s not about you, it’s not about me, it’s all about God! We find lasting meaning and fulfilment in life when we don’t focus on ourselves, but love God with all our heart, mind, soul and strength, and love our neighbour as ourselves. At the start of Paul’s letter to the Ephesians, he bursts with praise for God. In particular, he mentions Christ 14 times in the first 14 verses, usually by name, but sometimes indirectly (e.g. “in him”). Does our world revolve around us, or God? But many of us live as if we are the centre of the solar system, or even the universe. And God’s purpose in life is to revolve around us. Yet, just like Copernicus and Galileo showed that the earth isn’t the centre of the solar system but the sun is instead, so too we often need to be reminded that we are not the centre of God’s universe – he is! He is worth giving glory and praise. Paul therefore praises God in Ephesians 1:1-14. There, we can see (i) The plan of salvation, in Christ, (ii) The means of salvation, in Christ, and (iii) The purpose of salvation, in Christ. As a result, we need to review whether our lives in general, and even our church activities, are focused on us, or on God. There are many things to challenge, from the purpose or focus of prayer, worship, and evangelism, to how our lives in general are orientated – with God in the centre, or us in the centre! Thankfully, to God’s praise, there is abundant forgiveness for when we have sinned, through Jesus’ atoning death on the cross. Praise God for such great salvation.
