At just 19 years old, David Windecher had been arrested 13 times and was searching for a way out of the criminal justice system. Then he met Nicole. In this clip, David shares how one conversation, one challenge, and one person willing to invest in him changed the trajectory of his life. Her promise was simple and powerful: step away from the gang life, and she would help him earn his GED, get into college, and pursue law school. She followed through. And that belief became the turning point. This is a reminder that rehabilitation often starts with someone choosing to see potential instead of a record.

Send us a textIn this episode, I'm asking a question that sounds simple—but hits a lot deeper when you truly reflect on it. How confident are you in making decisions for your own life? This one was sparked by a conversation I had with my daughter about risks as you get older, and how easy it becomes to stop thinking for yourself and start following someone else's narrative. Add to that a moment from Kevin Hart on Diary of a CEO, where he said, “Nobody has the confidence in making decisions for your life like you do,” and it made me stop & think (& of course write :).We talk about why, as we get older, we become more cautious. Why following someone else's decisions feels safer—but quietly costs us freedom. Why “research mode” is often just procrastination in disguise. And why there really are no bad decisions—only decisions you can course-correct.This isn't about being reckless. It's about taking ownership. Agency. Staying in the game long enough to learn, adjust, and grow.If you've felt frustrated… boxed in… or like your life isn't quite coming together the way you hoped—this episode will help you see why.Make the decision. Then make the decision right. If this message resonates, share it with someone who needs to hear it. And as always—keep it simple, keep it moving, never settle, stay tough. Support the show

Send us a textIn his book The G Code, Ryan Stewman writes that you have two families: your family of origin and your family of choice.Your family of origin is the one you were born into — your mom, dad, aunts, uncles, cousins, siblings. That's the family you were raised with. You didn't choose them… you inherited them.Your family of choice is completely different. This is the family you grow up with — the one you intentionally create. And you build this family in three powerful ways: spiritually, socially, and physically. In today's episode, I'm going to break down why there are some people in your family of origin you must love where they are… and leave exactly where they are, because they are not part of your future. You can love them, you can support them, but you are not responsible for staying stuck with them. Then I'll show you how to build your family of choice — the people you select who are more successful, richer, in better shape, and smarter than you. These are the people who stretch you. These are the people who challenge you. These are the people who take you to the next level.Let's get it.Support the show

Homelessness, as everyone knows, is an extremely complicated emotional issue. Systemic societal barriers along with personal mental health issues can pull or push people into homelessness, and a dearth of affordable housing and needed services can keep them there. The complexity of this issue can be overwhelming and have people, literally walking on by, those struggling. There can exist a feeling that solutions need to come from the government, nonprofits, and our church communities in the form of larger answers. You'll learn how to take care of yourself first, focus on what really moves the needle, and make space for the people and moments that matter most.By the end, you'll stop just surviving your days and start living them on purpose.Support the show
Send us a textWhat if the regrets you carry aren't random—they're rooted in something deeper? In this episode, I unpack a passage from Tolstoy that struck a nerve. He named five “sins,” but I see them as something more real, more lived: regrets. These five regrets—gluttony, sloth, lust, anger & animosity, and pride—aren't just ancient ideas. They show up in our everyday lives through excess, laziness, obsession, bitterness, and ego.I walk you through each one:How it creeps inHow it disguises itselfAnd how it steals your momentumBut more importantly, I share how to spot it, study it, and outgrow it.This episode isn't about shame. It's about self-awareness. It's about learning how to grow through what you've gone through—so regret doesn't have the final word.

Every day you're selling your ideas, your value, your point of view, your leadership… and at the very least, you're selling you.In this episode, I walk you through why the first 90% of any interaction is where trust, leverage, and connection are built — and why the last 10% (the “close”) becomes effortless when you do the work upfront. You'll learn how to ask better questions, listen for real clues (curiosity), collect multiple leverage points (creativity), and guide people toward confident decisions without pressure or manipulation (communication). Send us a textIn this episode, I break down a powerful lesson from the Steve Jobs Archive about innovation, leadership, and why most people stall out in life: they stop taking risks. Jobs reminds us that you never truly “figure it out.” You're always figuring it out — and the minute you stop innovating, you start eroding.Whether you've experienced a major failure or you feel like you're finally in the lead, the danger is the same: slipping into protection mode. Playing it safe. Cost-cutting your way through problems instead of innovating your way to better circumstances. This episode explores:Why iteration through failure is the real path to growthHow Apple lost a 10-year lead by stopping innovationWhy “safe” decisions often become the riskiestThe mindset shift required to stay competitive in life and businessHow to avoid stagnation and keep pushing your skills, ideas, and opportunities forwardIf you're a leader, creator, entrepreneur, or anyone trying to grow from where you are to where you want to be, this episode will help you stay hungry, stay curious, and keep innovating.Keep it simple. Someone drove a car into Henry's house. Yes, through his rental property. For 99% of people reading this, that would put them in the hospital from stress. But Henry didn't even need to lift a finger when this happened to him on vacation. Why? We're about to tell you on this BiggerPockets Forum Q&A episode! You've got a few rental properties—maybe even a decent-sized portfolio—but you want to scale. How many rentals can you realistically self-manage? 10? 30? 50? What's the tipping point where you go from managing it all to creating another full-time job for yourself? And when should you finally hire a property manager? Henry scaled up to 70 rental units before fully outsourcing, but he agrees that doing it sooner (and with fewer units) might have been the better move. Plus, Dave shares how to analyze real estate deals in under a minute when you've got dozens of potential rental properties in the pipeline. That's right, the Data Deli himself is telling you NOT to open a spreadsheet for 90% of deals, and to use his quick “gut check” process instead. An investor also asks whether they should BRRRR in a rough neighborhood (C- or D-class) with low appreciation potential. Is there enough juice to make it worth it? It is said that when Benjamin Franklin was an American Minister in Paris, he spent an evening with a group of intellectuals at a time when literary circles were known for being agnostic or even atheistic. He was called on to contribute to the entertainment and read from what he called a “charming bit of literature.” He proceeded to read the entire Book of Ruth. The normally skeptical audience was delighted and wanted to know where in ancient history such a beautiful and idealistic story could be found. They were shocked to find out it had been copied from the Bible. The story of Ruth is indeed beautiful as an endearing account of loyalty, faith and divine providence. The account explores how Ruth's faithful decisions amid hardship reflect profound spiritual lessons. After the deaths of her husband and two sons, Naomi decides to return to Bethlehem. Ruth, her Moabite daughter-in-law, chose loyalty over comfort and insisted on going with her into a land of a diversly different culture. Ruth's declaration, “Your people shall be my people, and your God, my God” marks a pivotal moment of voluntary discipleship, echoing the call to follow Christ. Naomi's selflessness and Ruth's humility set the stage for divine providence to unfold. Ruth's decision to glean in Boaz's field, seemingly by chance, revealed God's guiding hand. Boaz, a wealthy and godly man, noticed Ruth's integrity and ensured her safety and provision. His actions mirrored Christ's care for his followers, offering not just sustenance but honor and protection. Key takeaways from this amazing account include strong insights into the three main people in the account: Ruth's loyalty and humility positioned her to receive God's abundant blessings. Naomi's wise and selfless guidance allowed Ruth to make a free, faith-driven choice. Boaz's integrity and generosity reflect Christlike leadership and compassion. The story further emphasizes that: God can work through imperfect decisions to bring about redemption. Humble service and steadfast commitment open the door to spiritual abundance. Providential “happenings” often disguise divine orchestration. Ultimately, Ruth's story illustrates how one person's faithful choice can ripple across generations, shaping legacy and revealing God's character. Her journey from foreign widow to honored matriarch in Israel's lineage of Jesus himself reminds believers that dedication, humility and trust in God's timing yield lasting impact.

Send us a textIn this episode, I dive deep into one of the most powerful journeys a person can take — the journey of discovering who they really are. This episode is about learning to value the process of digging, even when it's uncomfortable. Because the gold is there — buried deep — and the effort you put into finding it is what shapes your fulfillment in life.If you've ever felt stuck, lost, or uncertain about who you are or what's next, this episode will remind you that the most interesting and rewarding journey you'll ever take isn't out there — it's within you.Support the show

Send us a textEvery time you've been successful, it wasn't luck — it was intention. In this episode, I talk about how focus —not fortune —fuels your progress. Bethenny Frankel wrote, “Intention is a form of energy,” and she's right. The times I've felt scattered, drained, or stuck weren't because I was cursed with bad luck — it was because I wasn't being intentional. When you're intentional, you simplify your life. You tune out the noise and lock in on the signal. You start to see the leaks — the people, habits, and distractions that drain your energy — and you plug them. You stop chasing luck and start creating momentum. This episode is about bringing you back — back to focus, back to clarity, back to the thing that truly matters. Because when you can explain why you do what you do to yourself, you don't have to explain it to anyone else.Be intentional about being intentional. Focus is fuel. Luck follows focus.Support the show

And if we'll listen to Him, the door to a deeper and more personal relationship with God through prayer opens wide.
