This challenge is further amplified by the fragmented nature of cloud ecosystems, which struggle to efficiently manage resources across diverse edge devices such as e-vehicles, IoT-enabled sensors, and smart devices. O-CEI tackles this fragmentation head-on by fostering seamless collaboration between independent entities and enabling real-time data sharing to optimize energy usage and improve operational efficiency. An Open Platform for a Greener Tomorrow, O-CEI O-CEI aims to create an open CEI platform that emphasizes interoperability, security, and reliability. The platform seeks to build an ecosystem to accelerate innovation and adoption of CEI solutions, enable energy flexibility, establish CEI standards, and create viable and scalable business models. The platform will be developed based on information collected across six strategic verticals, addressing critical sectors such as electricity grids, electromobility, software-defined vehicles, agriculture, logistics, and urban environments. To this end, O-CEI will conduct eight large-scale pilots to showcase innovative applications, including optimizing renewable energy grids, promoting sustainable dairy production, enabling smart electric vehicle charging, and managing energy in maritime ports. Through 28 real-world scenarios, the project looks to demonstrate its flexibility and scalability, emphasizing its potential to transform diverse sectors and drive sustainable innovation. By advancing open standards and virtualization technologies, the project will enable collaboration and innovation across the six verticals. This cross-domain integration will empower industries to make faster, more precise energy predictions and implement adaptable solutions, significantly reducing energy consumption and environmental impact. The project allocated up to 4 million euros for two Open Calls which will start as of January 2026. A Vision for Strategic Autonomy and Sustainability O-CEI unites 58 partners from 20 countries, including leading industrial players, research organizations, academic institutions, SMEs, and non-profits. Together, these stakeholders will shape a resilient ecosystem and a competitive market for European businesses and key innovation stakeholders. The project coordinator, Prof. Carlos Enrique Palau Salvador, from The Polytechnic University of Valencia, underlined O-CEI's transformative potential: "O-CEI represents a bold step toward reimagining Europe's Cloud-Edge-IoT ecosystems. -The Pirates offense continues to struggle in a big way. The Steelers declined Najee's fifth-year option - what will happen moving forward? Justin Fields on special teams seems unlikely, but there should be packages for him. Calls on the Pirates and if Jones' short stint is still lingering, the Najee/Warren timeshare, NBA playoff talk. -Calls on who will be the first Pittsburgh coach fired, the Pens PP drop off, QB by committee approach in the NFL, Najee's option, a Pirates shakeup. -Calls about the Pirates new pitching machine that doesn't seem to be helping, two-strike hitting, potential moves for the Pirates.

-While Bob encourages everyone to take a cautious approach about the draft and that no player is a surefire lock to meet their expectations, he is happy the Steelers addressed their biggest needs. He breaks down where Roman Wilson and Payton Wilson can slot into this Steelers squad. There are two sides to being an artist: You want to spend as much time as you can creating work, investing in your learning and development and getting as good as you can. You also need to put your work out into the world, if you want it to be seen, to be discovered. Open calls are an important way of doing this. Why enter open calls? Open calls are a level playing field. I view them as an opportunity and I'm grateful they're there. Builds CV Where do you find open calls? Google art open calls, website resources online, Instagram, follow local galleries on Instagram and join their mailing lists. In Ireland, Visual Artists Ireland (VAI) list open calls. My approach You can't get a yes without risking a no. Each no is getting you closer to your next yes. By entering open calls you're part of the art game. You're taking a chance, you're being brave, you're a warrior. Even with rejection, your work has been evaluated and seen by a curator/jurist Rejection does not necessarily mean that your work is not good. There are always more submissions than space to exhibit. Odds of success are always low. Maybe your work is too large, or does not suit the theme, or does not work with the other pieces selected. Each rejection is a badge of your courage and bravery. Tips It's very easy to miss a deadline. There are a lot of open calls I add them to a spreadsheet by date of submission. I check this spreadsheet about once a week to see the dates of upcoming submissions. Evaluate open call based on quality of opportunity, time involved, cost, geographical location Local opportunities are generally worth entering. If you're successful it's easier to send work and attend the exhibition opening. I colour-code submissions: open call entered - amber, yes - green, no - red. Tracking helps me depersonalise the process and monitor over time I make a note of the paintings I've submitted (to reserve them until notification) Paintings successful in one open call may often be successful in others Getting a yes All the sweeter after all the rejection Gives a huge boost to confidence Try to attend exhibition opening (another opportunity) Builds CV Have you any interesting open call stories?
