Scripture Reading: Hebrews 10:1-25 Is it really worth it to follow Jesus Christ? How does your faith in Jesus affect how you encourage other believers? Believers in the first century were being rejected by their families and even suffered the forfeiture of their property for the sake of following Jesus. Like us today, they needed assurance that following Jesus is worth it all. Unlike the Old Covenant given to Moses & Israel, the one & only death of Jesus our Messiah fully succeeded in securing full redemption that relieves our guilt-laden consciences and satisfies the ultimate justice & wrath of our Holy God. Salvation has come by grace alone through faith alone in the all-sufficient death of Christ alone. There is nothing that you or I or any human priest can add to the sufficiency of His sacrifice. Now we can have full confidence in approaching God in worship, knowing that we have a far superior priest who offered a far superior sacrifice for our sins. With such confidence, we must therefore draw near to God with full assurance. We must firmly cling to clear biblical teaching & we must not waver in unbelief. And we must lean hard into gathering with the church for mutual encouragement even more as we anticipate the glorious day of our Lord's return.
On Sunday, Pastor Clay talked about God giving Moses/Israel the law, beginning with the Ten Commandments. But rather than dig in through all ten of the commandments in one sermon, we focused on the concept of the law. Eric and Pastor Clay met up to talk about the details of the Ten Commandments. What commandment do you struggle to follow? Connect with the Canton UMC!

Have you ever felt stuck, trapped, not where you want to be or expected you'd be at this time in your life? The last few years for many have been times of lockdowns, isolation, disruptions of all sorts. Current challenges aside, at any time of life we can become trapped, emotionally, physically, or spiritually. The book of Exodus and the life of Moses can encourage, inspire, and give us freedom and hope as we'll see in our lesson today, EXODUS, A new beginning for Moses, Israel, and us. This lesson covers not only the basic events in Exodus, but it has a bonus video on The Faces of the Pharaohs, where you can see the images of the men (and a woman!) who ruled during the times related to the Exodus. In addition to the fascination of being able to see the same face that Joseph or Moses faced, this underscores the truth that our Bible is based on historical realities, not fanciful stories. For many of us as I'm recording this, that's the situation we've been in with the Covid lockdowns and the many ways it has put life on hold. But for all of us, no matter what we are trapped in, emotionally, physically, or spiritually the book of Exodus and the life of Moses can encourage, inspire, and teach us as we'll see in our lesson today. Leviticus chapter 11 summary begins with God commanding Moses/Israel of the living animals they (as well as mankind) are allowed to eat on the earth. Beginning with the land based animals, in order to eat it, it must have a parted hoof (clovenfooted) and chew the cud in order for man to consume it. Leviticus chapter 12 summary in this chapter God commanded Moses of what a woman was supposed to do once she had a baby. If she has a boy, the woman is unclean seven days. On the eighth day, the baby boy should be circumcised and the mother continues purifying her blood for 33 days. She is not allowed to the sanctuary until her days are fulfilled. Leviticus chapter 13 summary is again about cleanliness as God spoke to Moses and Aaron concerning skin ailments. The LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron regarding men (and women) who had a rising flesh, scab, or bright spots on their flesh. Leviticus Chapter 14 Summary. once again is not the most attractive chapter in the Bible as it continues the law of the leper in the day of his or her cleansing. The leper must be brought before the priest. The priest will perform the ritual or ordinance of taking two clean birds, cedar wood, scarlet, and hyssop and mixing it together. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/timeoutwithjim/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/timeoutwithjim/support

An examination of the typology and meaning of entering God's Sabbath tracing the teaching backward through Psalm. 95 Numbers 13-14 to Moses at Mt Sinai in the giving of the law -Moses-Israel law covenant- that was added to the Abrahamic covenant. What is God's promised rest- How do we enter it- Sabbath day, weeks and Jubilee are a foreshadowing and the Sabbath commandment was the sign of the covenant between God and Israel. Jesus is the fulfillment of Sabbath since he is Lord of the Sabbath.
Pastor Don kicks off a new series in the book of Daniel. He first starts by giving an overview of the book of Daniel and where it fits in chronologically in the Bible and historically, where it fits in the world scheme of things. There has definitely been controversy over the book of Daniel in terms of those who doubt it's historicity and accuracy. However, as Pastor Don points out, where there is discrepancy between what we know today and what the Bible teaches, we can fully trust the Bible's account. In fact, in several instances, what had previously been discounted from Daniel's account, has later been verified as archaeological and historical evidence has come to light. God, His Word, and indeed His prophets, can be trusted ALL of the time. In case you didn't get to write down the timeline, here it is: 1400's - Moses/Israel leave Egypt 1046 Saul first king of Israel 1010 David becomes king 970-931 Solomon is king 930 kingdom of Israel splits into Israel/Judah 722 Israel exiled by Assyria 701 Assyria attacks Judah 630 Assyrian civil war 616 Egypt at war with Assyria 609 Josiah attacks Egypt - he dies 605 Babylon defeats Egypt 604 King Nebuchadnezzar becomes king of Babylon March 15/16 597 Jerusalem surrenders to Babylon 587/586 Jerusalem and the temple destroyed 562 Nebuchadnezzar dies 562 on...Neb's son is king...then son-in-law...then grandson 556-539 Nabonidus is last king of Babylon (his son likely reigns in his place for 10 years) 539 Cyrus the great defeats Babylon 539 End of exile for Judah (1st year note of Cyrus reign) 530 Cyrus succeeded by his son (until 522) 521-486 Darius is king of Persia 490 1st Persian invasion of Greeece Oct 486 Xerxes is new king of Persia 484 Xerxes murdered and Artaxerxes is king 445 Artaxerxes decree to rebuild temple until 400...a series of kings with short reigns 359 Philip 2nd unites Greek states 336 Alexander becomes leader of unified Greece 334 Alexander attacks Persia 323 Alexander died and divides empire into 28 regions - eventual ending up as 4 kingdoms 275 the four kingdoms are reduce to 3 until Roman empire 175-164 Antiochus the 4th 32 Jesus crucified
In this lesson, Pastor Miller covers Exodus 32 where makes a golden calf and breaks the covenant. Moses, Joshua, and the elders are on Mt. Sinai while this is taking place. As Moses comes down the mount, we have a brief conversation between Moses and Joshua about the sounds coming from the camp. Moses intercedes for the people and punishes the people within this chapter.https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1e2-9rRi-GeWDTn7c5X-__Rt_VVPiF0fg?usp=sharingFor more information, please visit www.OTBChurch.com

*Hello! Apologies to anyone who has had recent difficulties with my website. Apparently a bug was redirecting traffic away from my home page. I think that's fixed now. God bless!* Sermon on Galatians 3:15-22, for the 13th Sunday after Trinity (1 Yr lectionary), about God's two covenants (to Abraham and Moses/Israel) and how they relate to each other and us today. Which covenant is greater? Why do we need to drive away the "spirit of the Pharisee?" What is the difference between the two covenants, and what was the purpose and fulfillment of each?
The stories of the Exodus of the Israelites and the ordeals Job suffers in the hands of Satan are deeply related, and symbolize processes of initiation on the path to develop the soul completely. This lecture describes how initiation relates to Kabbalah, and explains Exodus, sexuality, the Tree of Life, and the three types of Adept—Adeptus Minor, Adeptus Major, and Adeptus Exemptus. This is a lecture from the free online course Gnostic Moses: The Herald of Christ Course Description: One of the most important figures in religion is משה Moshe (Moses), yet his true identity and importance has been hidden for centuries behind the veil of Kabbalah. This course removes the veil so that anyone who wants to see the truth can do it. To follow Christ, the energy of life, is to incarnate that force within. The way to do this is hidden in the Bible and the Hebrew letters. This course explains the symbol of Moses in relation with our spiritual development and the spinal column, and discusses the Zohar, Genesis, the teachings of Gurdjieff, and much more.
