Fatmah and Anushka who are both trained and ethical therapists talk about the importance of having support/community through this time and introduce us to their Support Group for new mothers and how is this Support Group different from just getting together with friends or other forms of informal support. She discusses how losses that are a natural part of life where some can be distressing (e.g. sudden, traumatic, or 'out-of-turn), or ambiguous. The various forms that loss can take (not just death), and grief as the way we process loss. We talk about the individual and cultural processes of navigating grief and how to support/approach a bereaving person. When a young Fatmah Muhammad's Palestinian family was nearly driven out of town in Missouri, she learned a valuable lesson that would shape her future career: empathy and persistence win. Fatmah's parents of 6 slowly won their neighbors over with hospitality and food. Life took Fatmah's to Southern California at 17, where she married the nominated Knafeh King and had a family. Over a decade later, Fatmah and her eldest daughter Rheyanah co-founded the business, that within 3 years has grown a social media following of over 35,000 and has caught the attention of celebs from the Hadids to DJ Khaled (and his mom) to Dua Lipa. Kill Ref is the best known moniker of Alessandro Signore, a long standing italian dj & producer active since 1993 circa, founder of KR/LF Records. In 90s he started appearing at Giona and Movida club's consoles. In 2000s he definitely moved to Rome playing as resident at infamous Brancaleone, then got residency Glucose at Init alongside other friends Korova, Giulio Maresca, VSK, Conrad Van Orton and Ap Lisi, then Ribbon Club in Terracina rising with his new side duo project Kill Traxx with Gigi Galli since 2009. In 2015 took part of Overlake Festival playing alogside Jeff Mills. He will be in fact playing abroad at some high rated european clubs: in Berlin at Tresor and About Blank, where is regularly guested at Homopatik party for a marathon set; in London at Corsica Studios and The Egg; at Liquid Club in Malta. He has remixed the popular "On & On" by Rush, "Fatmah" by the famous italian dub band Almamegretta and "Sai dire addio..." by the italian author and songwriter maestro Franco Battiato. He has founded his own label KR/LF Records (acronym of"Kill Ref Low Frequencies") since 2015 featuring artists such as Endlec, Binny, X501 aka Raffaele Attanasio, Coefficient, Gotshell, Oliver Rosemann, Ben Gibson, Oliver Deutschmann, David Meiser, Progression, Jokasti and Nek. In this episode, I talk with Fatmah Al-Qadfan about her practice of drama therapy in Kuwait.  Fatmah is a Registered Drama Therapist, under the North America Drama Therapy Association. She practices here in Kuwait and sees individuals and families for a range of mental health concerns, including eating disorders, trauma, anxiety, and depression. Drama therapy is an active and experiential approach that uses storytelling, role play and improvisation in the process of healing.
