Berlin-based Keplrr has spent a decade crafting a signature sound that fuses ceremonial techno with driving house and minimal influences. Having made his start in Peckham's underground scene, the UK artist quickly progressed from DJing at venues like Venue MOT, The Rising Sun, and Rye Wax, to playing key London clubs like FOLD, Corsica Studios, and The Cause. His tracks, which have found homes on tastemaker labels like Midgar, Control Freak and Pressure Dome, create deep, immersive soundscapes that challenge the conventional boundaries of techno. Running through them is the core idea of ‘falling and out of a trip', and considering that feeling from different angles. The end result is something between meditation and momentum; tension and warmth, all rendered with captivating subtlety and attention to detail. Meanwhile, his DJ sets offer sleek, hi-energy sounds paired with experimental rhythms, weightless blends, and rushes of melodic release. Keep your eyes peeled for Keplrr's next release coming out in November on GRACE, until then tune into this deep and dubby trip. Enjoy. For the 248th Local Selection Mix, we present London-based DJ-CK. Lock in for an hour of relentless, high-octane energy featuring bouncing techno, trance, progressive house, and hardhouse, all woven together in the spirit of the playful parties DJ-CK frequents. Ciara, better known as DJ-CK, is a Cork native who has been making her mark in London for the past three years. A respected figure in East London's music scene, she is a resident DJ at the Queen Adelaide and a key member of the Tea Break group. DJ-CK also hosts “trans~late,” a monthly party that features both seasoned and emerging trans DJs, providing an inclusive platform for artists at all stages of their careers. DJ-CK has been racking up a nice CV of past gigs with performances at numerous prominent venues and parties within London's queer scene, including Riposte, Dalston Superstore, and Joyride Rave at Corsica Studios. After making her Irish debut in December at Machina in Cork, she returned this summer for a standout appearance as part of the Foxgluv takeover at Providencia during Electric Picnic. The rising DJ also holds residencies at two radio stations, Voices Radio and AAJA, where she highlights Irish and queer guests each month. While her early DJing was centred around hardgroove adjacent techno, her sound evolved significantly during her time in London. Her shows now feature a diverse range of genres, including UKG, techno, trance, and progressive house. DJ-CK's entry into the Local Selection Mix is a rich tapestry of her diverse influences, seamlessly blending elements of her early love for 00's techno with 90's trance, progressive house, and beyond. The mix balances shimmering Ibiza euphoria with the raw, unfiltered energy of Belgian-style techno. This eclectic and surprising blend of tracks keeps listeners on the edge of their seats, transitioning from introspective moments to elated joy and pure body movement. It reflects DJ-CK's musical journey, offering a glimpse into her unique vision of club culture. DJ-CK ------------------------- SC: @ck-66228354 IG: www.instagram.com/dj_cee_k Four Four Magazine

LDLDN is DJ, producer - and most importantly - obsessed with music. A host on NTS Radio since 2012, his shows hop between jazz fusion, Detroit techno and anything else that generates a feeling. His SpaceBass parties and DJ sets at the likes of Erol Alkan's ‘To The Rhythm' at XOYO, I Love Acid at Corsica Studios, We Out Here Festival, Lovebox, Tate Modern and Secretsundaze swing easily between dancefloor steppers and more thoughtful, deeper grooves. Movement is key, genres and BPMs - not so much. Founding Natural Frequency Records has allowed LDLDN to bring all that together - releases that are musically diverse and tap into years of experience raving, collecting and dreaming about music. Tracks that aim to capture an emotion or idea in a genuine and interesting way. "My tastes cover so many different styles, tempos and vibes, it's often tricky to choose a particular direction for a mix. But after seeing some of the chaos at a recent Slothboogie party I thought I'd go straight in with some front-foot, late-night house, techno and acid selections to get you moving. A sprinkling of new and old - including stuff on my Natural Frequency label - recorded in one take to capture the energy. Really enjoyed putting this together and hope you do to"

November’s SUNANDBASS Podcast comes from two of the most key members of the London Drum & Bass scene – and whose vision and dedication is now respected and revered to far further reaches. Mantra and Double 0 have been both been consistently sharing their artistic vision within Drum & Bass and Jungle for many years, and since their first forays in Shoreditch in the early 2000s, the name Rupture has blossomed into one of the most go-to names in 160bpm + music. Whether at their now infamous night at Corsica Studios, on their own label or with their own individual performances, their names guarantee a stamp of quality and a place that the real heads know they will always get what they’re looking for. They drop in here for 90 minutes of the most cutting edge beats – we’re very happy to have them gracing this month’s SUNANDBASS Podcast.

Our guest in Hour 1 is Vester Koza ahead of his debut album 'Loader Mither' coming out on Houndstooth in November. In 2013 he released a string of self-released EP's which gained widespread critical acclaim and in 2016 Koza signed to fabric's Houndstooth Label, beginning with the OTR EP. Unlike his previous EPs where he first found his voice, 'Loader Mither' was conceived of and completed as a single project, and its coherence adds to its emotional kick. His mix includes tracks from Autechre, Chynna, Luna-C, Drexciya, The Human League and Bochum Welt. In Hour 2 it's Imrie Kiss who has been spearheading the renaissance of electronic music in Hungary since his acclaimed debut album Midnight Wave back in 2013. The last few years have been particularly fruitful for the Lobster Theremin affiliate: opening the country’s first Boiler Room; launching Crisis Sound System with Aiwa and S. Olbricht; holding a residency at Budapest’s infamous LÄRM; releasing a string of remixes and releases for various imprints; and taking his unique sound to world-renowned clubs such as Panorama Bar, Culture Box and Corsica Studios. He told us; “Recorded on a rainy day in my apartment in Budapest, this is a slow-burning mix, a journey through trippy breakbeat and electro with hints of italo. Best enjoyed on a hazy night with a few glasses of wine.”

Underrepresentation of women in music is nothing new. Female:Pressure released a report in 2013 that revealed that the average female representation at major music festivals was a dismal  8.4 per cent. However, some booking agencies and collectives are spearheading an effort to rebalance line-ups across the world. This episode of the Ninja Tune podcast finds Emma Burgess-Olson AKA Discwoman & Technicolour Record's UMFANG in conversation with Frankie Decaiza Hutchinson, co-founder of Discwoman, a booking agency that exclusively represents cis women, trans women, and genderqueer artists. Together with their roster, their agency is helping to increase inclusivity in dance music whilst putting on exciting & diverse club nights that have seen their profile grow exponentially across the industry. We caught up with them before their September show at Corsica Studios, London.

They've had some great guests over the past year or so, including Oxyd, Leah Floyeurs and Ben UFO to name but a few, but they've also had a healthy focus on their residents; Nick Craddock, Diskomo Oblast, Tom Whatmore and Charlie Leahy. They're going from strength to strength at the moment, with a Corsica Studios takeover planned for the 22nd April, so it seemed like the perfect time to have a chat with Mr Craddock to find out what makes the party tick. They've also provided our latest Line Out mix, a three-hour recording of the residents live from Bloc.

Michael Greene is Fort Romeau, an accomplished producer of smooth and sumptuous, or more groove driven and kraut influenced, house music. It has come in the form of many compelling EPs and LPs and on labels like Spectral Sound, Live At Robert Johnson and 100% Silk and takes cues from Italo and New Wave amongst other things. An intriguing producer who is genuinely bringing something new and fresh to the decades old house sound, he is a welcome addition to our series.  The mix we have on offer from Fort Romeau is one recorded at a recent gig at Corsica Studios in London that found him playing all night long. It was a real opportunity for the man to go deep, serve up curveballs and indulge many musical passions in one long session.  “I really like playing in this way,” he says. “There’s so much freedom to shape the entire musical language of the evening and to make connections between disparate musics that you just can’t really do in two or three hours at peak time. Corsica is one of London’s best spaces in my opinion, the DJ booth is rock solid with none of the typical problems of playing vinyl that plague clubs these days, the sound system is good and the crowd has always been great in my experience, so i was pleased to be able to take over the programming for the night.” The near six hour selection touches on ambient as well as various different strain of techno and house from across the ages. All knitted together into a perfectly balanced and well paced mix that keeps a vibe alive throughout, it is a fine testament of his skill in the booth as well as a nice little peak into the influences and inspirations that inform his productions.

So I made it back from SXSW in one piece, and for that reason alone I think we should all give praise. Saw some phenomenal bands, many of whom are included in this latest episode. If you ever have the opportunity to go to Austin, do so. Just avoid the Super 8 University motel. Along with some of my favourites from Austin I’ve got some tracks of a couple of great records that I’ve picked up in the last week or so. If you are in the market for a new album, you could really do a lot worse than the new John Grant record, it really is something special. 1. The Relatives – Bad Trip (Yep Rock Records) 2013 | Taken from an album that came out in February called The Electric Word, this old geezers can play. 2. Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats – Witches Garden (Rise Above Records) 2013 | Check them out on Facebook here, and if you’re lucky you might actually catch them live at some point too. 3. K-X-P – Melody (Mel0dic Records) 2013 | Touring Europe in April and May, you can see them live in Glasgow Broadcast on the 28th April. and in London on May 1st at Corsica Studios. 4. Autre Ne Veut – Carry (Mexican Summer) 2012 | Found this on their Soundcloud, it wasn’t on their album Anxiety that came out earlier this year. 5. Bass Drum of Death – White Fright (Fat Possum Records) 2012 | That track came out last year as a tour only EP, find out more here. 6. Savages – She Will (Matador Records) 2013 | Great band, everyone was right. 7. Queen Kwong – Eddie The Kid (Smoky Carrot) 2010 | Wikipedia suggest they are currently working on an album. Let’s hope so. 8. Mikhael Paskalev – I Spy (Mom & Pop Records) 2012 | Find out more at http://mikhaelpaskalev.com/ 9. Daughn Gibson – In The Beginning (White Denim) 2012 | From an album that came out in 2012 called All Hell. 10. John Grant – GMF (Bella Union) 2013 | Yeah, it’s fair to say I’m enjoying this Pale Green Ghosts album. The radio edit for this isn’t a good shout.

silverapplesliveonyouarehear The latest edition of You Are Hear features an exclusive live set from legendary electronic music pioneers The Silver Apples. The Silver Apples were formed in New York in 1967 by drummer Danny Taylor and vocalist Simeon Coxe, the bands unique sound came from a hand built electronic instrument Simeon built from several oscillators with eighty-six manual controls which created a sound which predated and certainly influenced Krautrock, Suicide, Spaceman3 and a host of post rock bands such as the Klaxons who the band came to inspire some 40 years later. The Sliver Apples are now a solo act, sadly Danny died in 2005, however Simeon is very alive and kicking and as you will hear in this excellent live set recorded at the Corsica Studios in London on 12th march 2008 to a full house. http://www.silverapples.com/ Brought to you by Magz Hall and Jim Backhouse check out our website www.youarehear.co.uk Subscribe to the podcast you can get emails alerts sent to you direct everytime we update the feed. feedback www.myspace.com/youarehear YAH 2002-6 live radio sessions CD now available as download album via whippit YAH 2002-6 live radio sessions CD Hear us on www.totallyradio.com Podcast of the week in Time Out London!! Rod B. & Alvaro Garfunk bring you the Miami Underground MovementJoe bought his first decks after moving to Manchester in the late 90s to pursue the acid house dream. With a schedule that involved clubbing three nights at week, he was soon running his own night, ‘Milk’ at the New Order owned Dry Bar, while DJing at other clubs around the city and purveying an ADD-ish eclecticism that had been born out of bleary nights watching the young Chemical Brothers at the Heavenly Social. Moving back to London, he started writing for DJ Mag, alongside a ‘proper’ job, was a founding member of a well-known music website, before the greedy machination of one of its members taught him the value of having a contract (though possibly not written on a napkin), and continued to put on parties in a variety of clubs and bars.Following a hugely successful warehouse party in East London to mark the momentous arrival of 07.07.07, he began running a new series of nights, under the name ‘No Way Back’, at a grimy all-night pub in Brixton, moving through a series of bigger venues, and playing guest slots at clubs like Trailer Trash and Neon Noise alongside Fischerspooner, until finding himself running the lounge for Chew the Fat! at The End (including, appropriately enough, on 08.08.08).With a hugely successful room, helped in a no small part by a large old school jungle collection, a job and residency swiftly followed, with gigs alongside Hervé, Tittsworth, Duke Dumont, Riton, Jack Beats, Trevor Loveys, Drums of Death, Raffertie, Reso, Bok Bok and L-Vis 1990, and more, even standing in as a fake Fake Blood to a packed Corsica Studios when the real Fake Blood failed to show. And summer 2009 saw gigs at Glade and Notting Hill Carnival.Leaving Chew the Fat! to become an editor at DJ Mag, Joe now has a new party in the offing and is currently in the studio with Dan Cat, who reached the heights of Pete Tong Essential New tune under his previous guise of Cheshire Catz.www.myspace.com/joerobotssoundcloud.com/joe-roberts
