If you attended the Car Wash Show in 2023, you undoubtedly saw Quick Dry's booth with pink carpet. Jonathan and Lindsay Wiles who own Quick Dry called it the ugliest booth at the show, but the carpet was to bring awareness to a great cause. In October of 2023, Quick Dry launched its Go Pink Campaign. They sold pink towels to participating customers and donated $10,000 to Hospice and Breastcancert.org of their proceeds from that month. Their customers who used the towels at their washes also donated money from October to charities with whom they already had relationships. The Wiles join us to talk about the idea for the campaign, the hurdles to make it happen, how they will make it better for 2024, and the humanizing effect that a program like this can have on your view of business.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease. While most people are aware of breast cancer, many forget to take the steps to have a plan to detect the disease in its early stages and encourage others to do the same. We have made a lot of progress but still have a long way to go and need your help! The National Breast Cancer Foundation's mission is to provide help and inspire hope to those affected by breast cancer through early detection, education, and support services. www.nationalbreastcancer.orgArticle Link

The month of October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It is an effort to raise awareness and reduce the stigma of breast cancer through education on symptoms and treatment methods. Breast cancer has been known since ancient time . With no reliable treatments, and with surgical outcomes often fatal, women tended to conceal the possibility of breast cancer as long as possible. With the dramatic improvement in survival rates at the end of the 19th century it was an individual by the name of William Stewart Halster as he raises long term survival rates 10% to 50%. Such lead to efforts to educate women about the importance of early detection and prompt action. Early campaigns included the "Women's Field Army" which was run by the American Society of the Control of Cancer. They were the forerunner of American Cancer Society. Now we have a wide variety of charitable organizations that are involved in breast cancer awareness and support. The largest and most prominent are Susan G. Komen for the Cure; National Breast Cancer Coalition; states Department I'd Defense; and Breast Cancer Action. Join callers, survivors, current patients and I as we honor and educate individuals about breast cancer. Live 10/22/18 at 12pm Pacific

A Jackson County native with a background in accounting, you don’t have to talk with Mandy Perhay very long to hear her heart for people and the place our local YMCA has in this community. Mandy is full of energy and optimism, and brings that energy to her role of running one of the largest fitness centers in our area. From youth soccer programs and Learn to Swim, to Go Pink and Open Doors (an income based rate scale program), the YMCA is more than just a workout facility. This is where Mandy’s true passion shines. In this episode, she shares all that the Y has to offer, her favorite (and not so favorite) parts of her job, and why she doesn’t take herself too seriously.
