In this powerful message, we're reminded of the transformative power of joy in our Christian walk. The central theme revolves around Philippians 4:4, 'Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!' We're challenged to embrace joy not as a fleeting emotion, but as a fruit of the Spirit and a powerful spiritual weapon. The message draws parallels between Paul's circumstances in prison and our own challenges, emphasizing that true joy transcends our situations. We're encouraged to fix our thoughts on things worthy of praise, as outlined in Philippians 4:8, and to cultivate a mindset of rejoicing even in difficult times. This practice of joy is presented as a key to not letting our hearts be troubled, linking back to Jesus' words in John 14. The message inspires us to live as 'citizens of heaven, commissioned to planet Earth,' carrying the contagious nature of God's joy to a world in need of hope.
John 14:5-6 (NKJV) “Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am THE WAY, THE TRUTH, and THE LIFE. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” Today we get the wonderful privilege of celebrating with our church family their bold declaration of their faith in Christ, with baptism. Baptism is one of the most honorable things we do for Christ. It boldly testifies to humanity, as well as all the host of the unseen world, that we belong to Jesus. That He is the only way.
John 14:1 (NKJV) “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. Then in v.27, He tells us again and tops it off with, “and don't be afraid” WHY? Because He just gave us His peace. So, according to Jesus, can a child of God live worry free? Trouble free? Anxious for nothing? Can we walk in the peace of God that passes understanding?
On this week's show ask the question: “What Happened to DLNA Technology” We also read your emails and the week's news. Also, say hi to Evelyne, our virtual news reader. News: Plex warns users to update systems immediately after detecting worrying security issue Samsung's $30K Micro RGB TV Is Here Sling TV launches single day, weekend, week-long pass options Apple's new ‘Charismatic' smart home OS is getting set to take on Alexa and Google What Happened to DLNA Technology? DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) technology, once a popular standard for sharing media like photos, videos, and music between devices on a home network, has largely faded from prominence. Here's a concise overview of what happened: Peak Popularity (2000s–Early 2010s): DLNA, introduced in 2003, enabled seamless media streaming between certified devices like TVs, computers, smartphones, and gaming consoles. It was widely adopted by manufacturers (e.g., Sony, Samsung, LG) and supported by software like Windows Media Player. By 2010, millions of devices were DLNA-certified, with a focus on interoperability and ease of use. Decline in Relevance: Rise of Proprietary Ecosystems: By the mid-2010s, companies like Apple (AirPlay), Google (Chromecast), and Amazon (Fire devices) pushed proprietary streaming protocols that integrated tightly with their ecosystems, offering smoother user experiences and cloud-based features DLNA lacked. Complexity and Inconsistency: DLNA's interoperability was hampered by inconsistent implementation across devices. Some devices supported only specific file formats or had clunky interfaces, frustrating users. Shift to Cloud and Apps: The rise of streaming services like Netflix, Spotify, and YouTube shifted media consumption to app-based, cloud-driven platforms. DLNA's focus on local network sharing became less relevant as users prioritized internet-based content. Emerging Standards: Technologies like Miracast, Wi-Fi Direct, and Bluetooth offered simpler or more versatile alternatives for device-to-device connectivity, further eroding DLNA's niche. DLNA's End (2017): The DLNA organization officially dissolved in 2017, ending certification and development. While some devices and software (e.g., Plex, VLC) still support DLNA for backward compatibility, it's no longer a focal point for manufacturers or consumers. Current Status: DLNA remains functional on older devices, but it's largely been supplanted by modern protocols and platforms. For example, smart TVs now rely on app ecosystems or protocols like Google Cast. Some enthusiasts still use DLNA for local media servers, but it's a niche use case. From our archives (June 2012) What's missing? So if you've tried any of the DLNA servers out there, you've probably seen how bare they are. With so many consumer electronics devices supporting DLNA playback, it seems a really good DLNA server would sell like hotcakes. Here's what we think the perfect DLNA server would do. Support Transcoding. Some DLNA Servers support transcoding, but not all of them. Transcoding allows the server to change the format of the video your watching or song you're listening to to something that the player can actually play back. Otherwise you'll get a bunch of failures trying to play back stuff like DivX and Xvid. Support Cover Art. Most DLNA servers will just grab a video frame out of a movie file and display it as a thumbnail. Why not replace that with the actual cover of the movie? They're easy to find online. It might take a little more setup up front to get all the covers downloaded and in the right place, but it would be worth it. Categorize videos. A few of the servers support a limited amount of categorization for video files, but what you'd really like to do is tag a movie with a genre, a year, rating, actors, director, producer, etc. and use any of those pieces of information to find the right movie. Built-in DVD backup. Consumers want a way to backup their movies. DVDs don't last forever. Allow a user to create a backup copy of their DVD on a hard drive. Of course they'll also be able to watch it from any network connected DLNA player, but that's just a slight benefit of the nifty backup feature. Of course, if you could then provide the built-in... Connection to IMDB. Allow users to automatically populate cover art and meta data info by selecting the correct movie from an online database like IMDB. This would greatly simplify the chore of adding movies to a video library. While this tends to be a one-time event (once per movie at least), it can be painful and tends to wear on you after a while. Support online sources. Right now PlayOn is the only server we've found that supports online video sources. It, however, doesn't support local sources. It looks like that functionality will be coming soon, but the two ideas need to merge for a really great product.
Pentecost was never meant to be an upper room monument, it was meant to be a global movement.
This special summer episode includes a live recording of the Spring issue of Post/doc, co-published by Momus and the Vera List Center for Art and Politics. The collaborative issue of the VLC's biannual publishing series for discursive, speculative, experimental writing, and artistic practices features a new sound work by artist JJJJJerome Ellis and a new text by writer Diana SeoHyung, both reflecting on the theme of intervals—on languaging, language breaks, aphasia, riffing, and repeating. This recording of the launch, which took place in early May at Storm Books & Candy, in Brooklyn, includes SeoHyung's reading of her text 가는 길: Decision to Leave / On Leaving / Leaving, and Ellis's performance of Havensong. The episode is introduced by Lauren Wetmore in conversation with Re'al Christian, Assistant Director of Editorial Initiatives at the VLC, about originating Post/doc, and her own writing and editorial practice. Thanks to this episode's sponsors, Marian Goodman Gallery and The Blue Building, for supporting our work. Thanks to JJJJJerome Ellis, Diana SeoHyung, and Re'al Christian for their contributions to this season. And as always, many thanks to Jacob Irish, our editor, and Chris Andrews, for production assistance.
Pentecost wasn't designed to be a one-time spark that we saw in Acts 2 that slowly fades into a memory. It's meant to be a fire we tend, feed, and grow — a fire that spreads into every corner of our lives and into every place God sends us.
John 14:27 (TPT) “I leave the gift of peace with you—MY PEACE. Not the kind of fragile peace given by the world, but My perfect peace. Don't yield to fear or be troubled in your hearts—instead, be courageous!” NKJV, “Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
1 Corinthians 12:12 (NKJV) “For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ.”
In this powerful message, we're reminded of Jesus' profound words: 'Let not your heart be troubled.' Drawing from John 14, we explore the deep significance of trusting God amidst life's storms. The story of Jesus calming the sea in Mark 4 beautifully illustrates this trust, challenging us to remain peaceful even when circumstances seem dire. We're encouraged to recognize the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit, our constant source of peace and strength. This lesson invites us to renew our minds, focusing on God's promises rather than our problems. By doing so, we can cultivate an unshakeable faith that withstands life's trials, becoming a powerful witness to those around us. Let's embrace the peace Christ offers and learn to be 'untroubled in our troubles,' transforming our thought life and deepening our relationship with God.

Matthew 5:14-16 (NIV) YOU ARE THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
Tonight's talk is titled, Pentecost: Repentance Required If you have your bibles, lets jump into our key text, turn to Acts 2:38
At the end of the day, when it comes to People being are our Purpose, I can't overstate how important our attitude is. Without the right attitude, it'll be very easy to look past the one God's wanting us to influence.
We remembered how Pentecost wasn't just an event… it was a turning point. It was the birth of the Church, the coming of the Spirit, and the unleashing of power into everyday believers.

At the end of the day, when it comes to People being are our Purpose, I can't overstate how important our attitude is. Without the right attitude, it'll be very easy to look past the one God's wanting us to influence.
There's not a more perfect way to kick off our next “Core Value” Live Like… People are our Purpose, than with baptism Sunday. Today we get the wonderful privilege of celebrating with our church family their bold declaration of faith in Christ with baptism.
Think about it like this, The Great Commission tells us, “go make disciples” and without question, discipleship absolutely includes money, giving, generosity. Jesus is the one who told us, GIVE and it will be given to you…
In this powerful follow-up to “Pentecost: The Forgotten Moment,” we shift our focus from the event to the people—those who responded with obedience, and those who didn't. Out of 500 who saw the resurrected Jesus, only 120 waited, prayed, and obeyed. These were the Remnant. This week's message challenges us to evaluate: Are we part of the 120, or are we clinging to comfort like the 380? Discover what it means to be a faithful, obedient remnant in today's culture. Learn to let go of the ropes, say yes to God's call, and pursue the fullness of the Spirit that was launched at Pentecost. It's not about numbers—it's about obedience.
As we continue through our “Live Like…” series is, we are talking about generosity being a normal part of our lives. GENEROUS— A readiness to GIVE more than necessary. And for the Christian, giving is the nature of our Father. As a matter of fact, I'm sure most of you have either heard or said, “You're acting just like your father”
This is our core verse for today Acts 2:1–4 (NKJV)“When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place… Suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind… and there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire… and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit…”
GENEROSITY is ultimately a heart posture, an attitude about giving. GENEROSITY is our norm is a revelation we're still growing in as a church, but we've definitely made it consistent practice.
Let's remember, at it's core GENEROSITY is ultimately a heart posture, an attitude about giving.
Serving is our Privilege” simply allows us the opportunity to discover what God will do through anyone willing to be open to their assignment.
Jesus told us, “these signs will follow them that believe,” we simply have to be open to embracing our new creation. This spiritual reality is for every believer! We are speaking spirits, confined to humanity. And tongues is simple speaking a spiritual language. As a matter of fact Jesus actually told us, “My words are Spirit.”
Jesus Himself didn't even start His earthly ministry until the Holy Spirit came upon Him. Think about it, both the public ministry of Jesus in the gospels and the public ministry of the church through the book of Acts began with the empowerment of the Holy Spirit.

The reason “Serving is our Privilege” is we understand that as we offer our lives as a sacrifice to God, He inspires our heart to want to be part of what He's doing. As a matter of fact, Jesus takes it personal when we serve. “When you've done it unto the least of one of these, you've done unto Me.”

Jesus repeatedly made this statement, “The Greatest in the Kingdom will be a SERVANT”
Remember, Spirit within, Spirit upon— Think about it, Jesus is the FIRSTBORN, our example of one born of the Spirit and He's the one who actually said, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me” Don't forget, Jesus repeatedly talked to His disciples about the Holy Spirit.
