Biblical Talks Signs are all around us and they are commands, warnings, directions, or all three. Signs can also be an indicator of the times. In this episode of Biblical Talks SD and Lady V discuss Matthew 24:1-51 English Standard Version. Jesus tells the disciples the signs of the end of the age. Thus, it is important for believers to pay attention to the signs. With that in mind, here are a couple questions for you. Have you read Matthew 24:1-51. If so -- what are your thoughts? If not, no worries, we've got you covered. In any case, join us with your Bible or Bible app. Also, go ahead and use the player at the top of this blog post or subscribe and listen via your preferred podcast platform to follow along. Scriptures Referenced in Episode Discussion Matthew 24:1-14 Genesis Chapters 6, 7, & 8 John 3:16-17 Romans 10:9-10 Numbers 6:24-26 Receive your Free Gift of Salvation – The Gospel of Jesus Christ Explanation If you are reading this, it is not by chance. This is your time to receive the Gift of Salvation through Christ Jesus. Now, you may be wondering, "Why do I need that?" Oh, I'm so glad you asked. The Bible says, that because Adam ate fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil -- he released sin into the world. And ultimately, Adam's sin brought death and death spread to everyone. No doubt, you may be thinking, "Of course, everyone is going to die." But, my question to you is "Where will you spend eternity?" Because there is life after death. In fact, when you die you go to one of two places -- heaven or hell. Also, it is important to understand that Adam's sin also brought an eternity in hell. But for those who choose not to receive the free gift of eternal life. Thus, you must make that choice before you take your last breath. Romans 5:17 New Living Translation says, “For the sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over many. But even greater is God's wonderful grace and his gift of righteousness, for all who receive it will live in triumph over sin and death through this one man, Jesus Christ.” To sum it all up, Romans 6:23 New Living Translation says, “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.” So, if you are reading this, don't let another day go by without receiving this life-changing gift. Scripture Romans 10:8-10 New Living Translation says, “8 …“The message is very close at hand; it is on your lips and in your heart.” And that message is the very message about faith that we preach: 9 If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.” Salvation Prayer Lord Jesus, I am a sinner, and I am sorry for my sins. I ask You to forgive me. I want to follow You, Jesus. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith, I ask You to be my Lord and Savior. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for your gift of grace and for eternity with You. Jesus Christ was not just born. He had an existence before he was born; and therefore, Jesus was not just born—he was given to us. Jesus is the one gift that, if you have it, you have all the other gifts. Jesus is the one gift that, if you reject it, you lose all other gifts. The apostle Paul says that Jesus is the inexpressible gift. By thinking about Jesus as a gift, I think we'll come to understand more of who he is and how we should relate to him. So let's look at three essential qualities of a gift: 1) gifts are surprises, 2) gifts can be insulting, and 3) gifts are immensely valuable. So Much More: Creating Space for God (Lectio Divina and Scripture Meditation)
If you’ve ever felt stuck in patterns you can’t seem to break, you aren’t alone. This Christian meditation podcast offers space for Bible meditation, scripture reflection, and faith‑based guided prayer. This series is shaped by the twelve steps—a time‑tested path to spiritual healing and transformation—because we all have hurts, habits, or hangups that hold us back. Whether or not you consider yourself an addict, these meditations are for you. We all long for lives characterized by freedom—lives rooted and grounded in God and His goodness. But the truth is, we all struggle. Step One helps us admit what we feel but don’t want to name: we are powerless over our deepest problems and our lives can become unmanageable. That honest admission isn’t despair; it’s the threshold of grace—the place we discover that while we can’t, God can. And He wants to. In today’s meditation, we sit with Romans 7:21–25, where Paul wrestles with the push and pull we all know—the desire to follow God and the struggle with sin. You’ll be guided to listen, reflect, respond, and rest, opening your heart to the healing and wholeness God wants to bring. Here's todays meditation Scripture: Romans 7:21–25 (NLT) I have discovered this principle of life—that when I want to do what is right, I inevitably do what is wrong. I love God’s law with all my heart. But there is another power within me that is at war with my mind. This power makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me.Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death?Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord. So you see how it is: In my mind I really want to obey God’s law, but because of my sinful nature I am a slave to sin. Connect with me here! Send me a text message! The reminder for you today is that you are a daughter of the most high king. Kingdom Daughters was birthed from a place of me growing in my identity and realizing that I needed to be rooted and grounded in His love and move from that space. In our busyness we can get lost in WHO we are or who we are SUPPOSEd to be. And be striving to be something by doing..instead of just being who God created us to be….which is His daughter! You are loved deeply by your heavenly father and when you come FULLY to that realization and receive His love..then you can walk boldly into the calling He has for you! Without stress or striving or performance!Boom bam.I spent most of my life trying to earn a place in the kingdom. Thinking that I had to work and be a perfect christian to walk in freedom. It wasn't til I started to understand the depth of God's love and His intention towards me that I realized I didn't have to strive for perfection or perform a certain way to earn His love. I just had to be me. Now side note to this…grace and love are a free gift…but that isn't a free ride to live however you like. If you are in a deep loving relationship with God- by knowing Him and spending time with Him in His word, prayer and worship- then you will one be transformed in His presence and two have a desire to live your life in honor and praise….your actions will reflect the worship..ya know?Anyway…. I'm telling you right now that there is freedom from walking in the knowledge that no matter what I DO, as long as I am choosing to seek Him first of course, He will always love me because He created me, sees and knows me and loves me for who I am and not what I do. Boomshakala lol So I just have a few points to help with this topic…just to encourage you in this belief system!!Scripture: Romans 8:16-17 – “The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs, heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, …”Key Points:You are adopted and chosen. We all have very strong moral convictions about what we think is right and wrong. And in a pluralistic society, we need to find ways of sharing our beliefs and being honest about who we are in a way that's respectful and promotes peace. One of the ways we can make for a more civil conversation is to ask a more fundamental question: Where do you get your moral convictions? How do you determine what is right and wrong? There's almost no place I know that has a more interesting answer to this question than Romans 2. It tells us three things: 1) no one can succeed in being a relativist, 2) no one can really succeed in being a moralist, and therefore, 3) this is our only hope. This sermon was preached by Dr. Timothy Keller at Redeemer Presbyterian Church on October 27, 2013. Series: A Public Faith. Scripture: Romans 2:12-29. Jesus, you are my confident hope in this time of trouble. Keywords: Confidence; hope; near; prayer; patience; trouble; strength.Scripture: Romans 12:12 Resource: The Spirit-Led Heart: Living a life of love and faith beyond borders by Suzanne Eller
If we're going to have a truly open society, we have to learn how to be public about our deepest faith beliefs, and yet to do so in a way that's respectful to others and promotes peace. So how do you talk about God and God's existence? One way to talk about this with more reflection is not to ask, “Does God exist?” but to ask, “How do you know whether God exists?” I don't think there's any more brilliant answer to the question, “How can we know whether God exists?” than in Romans 1. Paul actually gives four answers, all at once. He says, 1) we can know God, 2) we do know God, 3) we don't know God, and 4) we can truly know God. This sermon was preached by Dr. Timothy Keller at Redeemer Presbyterian Church on October 20, 2013. Series: A Public Faith. Scripture: Romans 1:16-21. Do you still carry guilt for things God has already forgiven? You're not alone. So many Christians live burdened by past sins—even after repenting and surrendering their lives to Christ. But Romans 8 opens with a life-changing promise: “There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” In Part 1 of our new series, Living the Good Life, we explore what it really means to live in the freedom of God's forgiveness. Through the powerful story of Neil Johnson—a man granted a pardon he never thought he deserved—we'll confront the doubts, emotions, and misconceptions that keep us from fully receiving God's grace. Scripture: Romans 8:1–11 Big Idea: Embracing God's forgiveness is essential to a flourishing Christian life. You'll discover: -Why many believers still feel condemned—even when they're forgiven -How false beliefs about God distort our ability to live free -The difference between guilt and repentance -What it means to truly surrender and walk by the Spirit Whether you struggle with guilt, shame, or just need a fresh reminder of God's grace—this message will speak to your heart. SCRIPTURE- Romans 12:2"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is – His good, pleasing and perfect will.”REFLECTION- Fr. CarlMUSIC-
The age-old adage, that there's a sucker born every minute, in reality describes every one of us in our spiritual lives. We so often fail to realize how we're being schemed against, how we're being influenced, and ultimately how we conform to the patterns of this world. We're ignorant to the implicit costs and systems that keep us from flourishing in our spiritual lives - and what we can't see, we can't break through. But once we wake up and begin to shamelessly resist the influences and habits in our lives that hold us back or lead us astray, we grow in spiritual maturity and experience the freedom of becoming more like Jesus and living in the full glory of who God created us to be. Scripture: Romans 12:1-3 A Living Sacrifice 12 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. Humble Service in the Body of Christ3 For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.
Isn't it incredible to think that before you and I were born, God already had a plan and a purpose for our lives? One of the ways God prepared us in advance is that He has given us spiritual gifts.Main Points:1. The Bible has a lot to say about spiritual gifts. There are at least 20 of them listed in the Bible. We don't have time to define them all today, but you can read about them in these passages of Scripture: Romans 12, 1 Corinthians 12, and Ephesians 4. Generally speaking, there are two categories: speaking gifts and serving gifts. 2. God would not have given you a spiritual gift unless He intended for you to use it. What a blessing it is to have received a gift from God!3. When we discover our gifts, use our gifts, and value the gifts of others, and when we connect with each other with one mind and mission, which is to glorify God and build His Kingdom, we fulfilling our life's purpose.Today's Scripture Verses:Ephesians 2:10 - “For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”Romans 12:6 - “We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us.”1 Peter 4:10 - “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received…”Quick Links:Donate to support this podcastLeave a review on Apple PodcastsGet a copy of The 5 Minute Discipleship JournalConnect on SocialJoin The 5 Minute Discipleship Facebook Group
