I visited Goose Island Beer Co.'s soon-to-open Salt Shed Pub (1357 N. Elston) on what turned out to be a perfect night for having a 312 on the river. Let's get this out of the way: Goose has found the perfect location and built the perfect brewpub. Located behind Salt Shed and along the Chicago River, Salt Shed Pub is now the go-to for before/after concert drinks and light bites, as well as day drinking in full view of the Chicago skyline. Goose Island President Todd Ahsmann jumped in the car to talk about the new location and Goose Island's long history in Chicago as we ate one of the best smashburgers I've ever had (credit to Executive Chef Henry Pariser). Note: The smashburgers are on the Salt Shed Pub menu. Do yourself a favor… Goose Island Brewing's Salt Shed Pub officially opens May 3, 2024. Real Estate Teams & Sophie Goose Island Beer | EP13 In this episode of the greatest real estate broker podcast that involves alcohol in the world, (possibly overboard?) we explore the trend, along with the pro's and con's of #teams in the Real Estate industry. It seems fitting as we head into Super Bowl Weekend, though one of our broker's here is not as thrilled as he might have been given the Ravens aren't there. Teams can be a great strategy, but you need to think of some things along the way. We also feature a beer that made our Chicago native BIC very happy. We think Sophie from Goose Island Brewing is the real champagne of beers! Cheers!

This week on Beer is a Conversation we play an interview James Atkinson recorded recently with Ken Stout and Dave Tohtz of Goose Island Brewing. Both Ken and Dave have been with the Goose Island business since before it was acquired by the world's largest brewer, ABInBev, in 2011. A longtime beer industry professional, Ken joined the Chicago brewer as regional sales director in 2009, eventually becoming its president and general manager in 2015, and more recently, the president of its international division. The new role gives Ken oversight for the ambitious international rollout of the Goose Island brand by ABI. Dave Tohtz meanwhile notched up his tenth year as a brewer at Goose Island during 2017. Dave and Ken have been in Australia over the last fortnight for Goose Island's Migration Week campaign and I caught up with them at Two Birds Brewing's The Nest in Melbourne for an all-encompassing chat about their time at Goose Island, the changes they have witnessed since ABI took over and their impressions of the Australian market. Full disclosure, Goose Island has done some advertising around the Migration Week initiative on the Brews News website, but this interview was done completely separately. Enjoy the conversation.

Or...we ramble on about what we think about various topics and occasionally reference the beer. We then let you all know what we think you should pair the beers with for the best results. And we're not talking about food pairings.
Sponsorship is about more than trading banners. TJ Annerino gets that with partnerships that include Pitchfork Music Festival, WBEZ public radio and the podcast Sound Opinions. It's about knowing who you are and building relationships that last. "It takes you about 10 seconds to realize that at 90% of live music you have an engaged music you have live audience that have paid a premium to be there. They’re looking for that experience. They look forward to that experience. So, in this case, in Goose Island case, Beer and Music – live music, they go pretty hand-in-hand.
