IF TODAY WE MEET OUR END, THEN IT'S A GOOD DAY TO DIE! The metal scene in Chicago is vibrant and thriving and my guest today and his band members in Bloodletter are no exception. Pete Carparelli is a man of many talents. Guitar, drums, vocals, writing lyrics, etc. What can't this man do other than play piano?! Nothing! That's what. He and his band are nearing 8 years together and they couldn't be more busy. They've put out multiple EP's and full length albums in that time and are looking to release more in 2022. There brand of thrash is just what you need to make your day better. Speed, aggression, melody, thoughtful lyrics, and much more. If you haven't heard their 2021 release Funeral Hymns, do yourself a favor and go listen to it now. Along with the rest of their discography! Because it's worth it and you're missing out. Pete and I have a thoughtful and honest conversation about the importance of thrash metal, the support of the local scene in Chi Town, and even the therapeutic quality of metal music. There's a lot to digest here, but it's a joy of a conversation. And now I'm craving deep dish pizza.
Well that was an absolute disaster last week for the Bears. Suffice to say the Justin Fields era did not get off to a great start last week. We'll talk about that and why Matt Nagy has become so stubborn. Not all was bad in Cleveland over the weekend, though. The White Sox clinched the A.L. Central! Now they can focus on setting up their rotation and getting Tim Anderson through a suspension? Finally, the Chicago Sky are one step away from their first WNBA Finals since 2014!
The Justin Fields era has begun! Matt Nagy announced earlier today that Fields will officially make his first start against the Browns. Will it be better than the pinch hit duty he did last week against the Bengals? Chicago is living in Ohio this week, Bears hosting the Bengals last Sunday and at the Browns this Sunday while the White Sox start a 5-game trip in Cleveland starting Thursday. Drew Hagenbaugh will stop by from State of Ohio Sports to help break it down. Plus, the Sky begin their WNBA playoff run tomorrow night against the Wings!
Week 1 of the NFL season is in the books and it was not kind to the Bears. We'll look back on the 34-14 drubbing at the hands of Matthew Stafford and the Lions and also look ahead to Week 2, the home opener against the Bengals. What more does Nagy need to see before going to Justing Fields? Is the Bears defense really elite any more? We'll also look in on the White Sox in action against the Angels. Will that Magic Number drop all the way to 0 by the time we talk next week?

On a very personal episode of The Charlie Kirk Show, Charlie walks you through why Chicago is such an important city for the American ethos and why it holds a special place in his heart. All of that makes the detailed analysis he shares after harder to listen to, though. Over the course of a few short years, Democrats and radical activists have taken Chi-Town and turned it into the third-world-country we know today. Charlie walks through how we got here, who is to blame, and why the dividing line of race—weaponized by people like Lori Lightfoot—is a virus set to infect every great American city and institution if we don't stand up to it firmly. One person willing to make a stand, however, is a Democrat Charlie has great respect for. At the end of this episode, he offers surprising praise for a member of the opposing team that you will not want to miss.
