Plus the Dow Jones turns 130, Moody's lifts South Africa's outlook from stable to positive, Balwin delists at below NAV with Calgro M3* potentially next, and stocks on the move including Shoprite*, AB InBev, Impala Platinum, and Gold Fields. De AI-race draait om geheugen, maar het aanbod van dat geheugen is krap, waardoor de koersen van geheugenchipmakers de wind in de zeilen hebben. This week, we review the pleasantly robust results from global beer companies during the first quarter of 2026. More importantly, we bid adieu to a dear friend and longtime contributor, Francois Sonneville. For those wanting to thank Francois for years of fantastic industry coverage, please reach out: FSonneville@yahoo.co.uk. We discuss individual company results at the following timestamps: Heineken (7:32): Results are stable heading into a leadership transition. AB InBev (15:44): Revenue, volumes, and EBITDA are all well ahead of expectations. RTDs, Michelob, and Busch are filling the gap left by Bud Light. Constellation Brands (24:20): Business is stabilizing following a tough year in 2025. Royal Unibrew (32:22): Despite strong results from a highly diversified business, the headline was the loss of the PepsiCo business in Denmark, Finland, and the Baltic states, which account for nearly one-sixth of company revenue. Carlsberg (38:40): Both volume and revenues grew, with strong performance in the UK as the integration of Britvic goes forward. The headline is the switch from Coca-Cola to PepsiCo in Denmark and Finland and taking on the Baltic states from Royal Unibrew. Molson Coors (48:20): Volume is down, but revenues are flat with improved EBITDA, though costs pressures – aluminum in particular – remain a headache. What does it take to turn innovation from a string of promising pilots into a repeatable growth engine that finance leaders can actually believe in? In this episode of the Innovation Storytellers Show, I sit down with Alice Ponti, Senior Vice President of Innovation and Strategy at VentureFuel, to talk about why so many innovation teams are being restructured, absorbed into the business, or quietly shut down altogether. Drawing on leadership roles at L'Oréal, Diageo, AB InBev, and now at VentureFuel, Alice shares what she has learned about building systems that connect strategy, governance, execution, and adoption to deliver measurable business value. Our conversation examines the growing pressure on innovators to speak the CFO's language and prove their relevance through repeatable, sustainable growth. Alice explains why great ideas alone are never enough, why innovation fails when teams keep reinventing the wheel, and how the strongest organizations build playbooks that can scale across markets, functions, and product categories. She also reflects on the importance of bringing R&D and marketing together early, so technical brilliance can be translated into products people actually want. We discuss AI, and why so many organizations are now repeating the same failure patterns that have haunted corporate innovation for years. Alice offers a sharp view on why most AI pilots stall, what leaders should actually be measuring, and how companies can move faster from experimentation to enterprise adoption. This is a conversation about discipline, storytelling, execution, and the very real opportunity for innovators to reclaim their place by showing how their work drives growth in terms that the wider business can respect. If you care about the future of innovation, the role of AI in scaling ideas, and what it really takes to earn support from the people holding the budget, this episode will give you plenty to think about.

This episode is sponsored by Phaedon.Download their 2026 research paper on Humanizing Loyalty here now. This episode is available in audio format on the Let's Talk Loyalty podcast and in video format on www.Loyalty.TV.In this episode, we explore how beer culture, category dynamics, and customer loyalty have evolved in the decade following AB InBev's acquisition of SABMiller — one of the most significant moments in the global beer industry. Our guest is DeWet Bisschoff. He has spent more than two decades harnessing the power of business strategy, talented people, and disruptive technology. More recently, he has worked alongside AB InBev across markets and brands, with deep exposure to how loyalty, culture, and customer experience operate at global scale. The conversation reflects on how loyalty in the beer category extends beyond products or transactions. It is shaped by heritage, local pride, shared rituals, and everyday moments of connection. As global scale and complexity increase, we explore what it takes to protect these emotional loyalty drivers while evolving operating models and customer engagement behind the scenes. We also discuss how the beer category has changed over the past decade — from digital commerce and personalization to non-alcoholic innovation and more conscious consumption — and what these shifts mean for sustaining relevance and loyalty across generations and geographies. This episode offers a thoughtful perspective on how global brands can evolve without losing the cultural foundations that loyalty is built on.This episode is hosted by Nyeleti.Show Notes:1) DeWet Bisschoff2) Lekker Lees 3) The Beer Monopoly
The team from Beer Business Daily and Beernet Radio offer candid coverage of the tumult and upheaval in the US beer wholesaler business. In this episode, we touch on the following topics: How are big brands (AB InBev, Molson Coors, Constellation Brands) applying pressure differently to their wholesaler networks? What is the outlook for hemp beverages (né marijuana edibles)? Will they be legal in 2027, and are they actual profit drivers for wholesalers? Will wholesalers continue to diversify away from beer? Should this concern the biggest brands in their portfolio? Are wholesalers seeing a clear impact from the Trump administration's immigration crackdown? Should beer wholesalers move more aggressively into wine and spirits? Should those businesses be run separately from their beer business? In our Beer News (11:06), we discuss AB-InBev's Megabrands' strategy for 2025 and into 2026. For our Cöld Brüe List (16:07), Sorcerer Chromatic runs down the list of celebrities that died in 2025. Te gast: Martine Hafkamp, Fintessa VermogensbeheerSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Business history repeats itself…first as tragedy, second as farce. But for the sake of Cizzle Brands' future, let's hope lessons were learned the first time! While the company is managed as a single operating segment, Cizzle Brands started with a flagship brand CWENCH Hydration. Then, in January 2025…Cizzle Brands launched SPOKEN Nutrition, an NSF Certified for Sport line of athlete-grade sports nutrition products. Next, the company entered the functional foods segment this past September…launching a high-protein product called Sport Pasta under the HappiEats brand. And over the trailing twelve months, Cizzle Brands reported generating revenue of slightly above $10 million. And while most will likely recognize that Cizzle Brands is (at least currently) a much smaller active nutrition company compared to typical categorical competitors highlighted within my content pieces...purely judging the edutainment value of this business story based on the current level of Cizzle Brands revenue generation would undoubtedly show your ignorance surrounding last year's “reverse takeover transaction” examination. Though, beyond the seemingly intentional (yet) eerily similar growth strategies of BioSteel and CWENCH…it's a recent M&A transaction that really has me questioning if we're in some kind of business wash cycle right now! And that's because on Christmas Eve, Cizzle Brands announced that it had completed the acquisition of Flow Beverage for an aggregate purchase price of approximately $61 million. But while John Celenza isn't (technically) purchasing that same company (or even facility) twice, the M&A strategic rationale is quite similar. According to Cizzle Brands, the acquisition secures in-house manufacturing capacity for CWENCH, materially reducing cost of goods sold as volumes scale while improving production control and reliability. Additionally, it's said to strengthen the long-term operating platform…and create meaningful synergies that should materially accelerate its path to profitability. In just about 1.5 years' time, Cizzle Brands' products are available already in close to 6000 multichannel distribution points globally. Additionally, Cizzle Brands recently entered into a distribution agreement with a Canadian subsidiary of Keurig Dr Pepper. Though, for the foreseeable future, demand levels of CWENCH Hydration wouldn't even warrant turning on the lights daily at this approximately 150,000 square foot Tetra Pak manufacturing facility. So, Cizzle Brands NEEDS to ensure its laser focused on how it can better serve current contract manufacturing customers that includes BioSteel or Joyburst. And speaking of the largest co-packing customer of Flow Beverage (aka Cizzle Brands Manufacturing), you probably saw the news by now…but it just sold to Anheuser-Busch in a deal worth more than half a billion dollars! So, if Beatbox Beverages wasn't already large enough (and assumably smart enough) to possess levels of operational buffering…it certainly is now! Consequently, we don't know fully what that could mean for Cizzle Brands Manufacturing yet…but I'd assume M&A due diligence triggered conversations with Beatbox Beverages (and AB InBev) cementing confidence that previous manufacturing agreements would be honored into (I believe) the end of the decade.
Send us a textWe start the show this week reminiscing the days of chasing beers. Brews like KBS, CBS, BCBS (I see a trend here) were hard to come by and disappeared quickly. Now, they sit on shelves getting dusty. Do we have too much good beer?We correct some bad intel we got recently. It seems that Anchor Brewing isn't leaving San Francisco and never intended to. American Craft Beer used AI to create their article and it got some info wrong. Never trust AI.We also heard of the horrible charges against the founder of Sycamore Brewing. Initial a single charge but more has been added. And it looks really, really bad.Note: Sycamore made the Top 3 in our Holiday Beer show. The show was recorded and scheduled for release prior to the news breaking.Irish Stouts seem to be having a moment. First Guinness said they're doing well and now Murphy's said things are going swimmingly. What happened that made these dry stouts have a moment?ABInBev is making some changes. They'll close some breweries and sell others. All about efficiency in a tightening sector. All that American alcohol that Canada decide not to sell? It's stuck in warehouse, taking up space, costing money. Although their reasoning may have made sense it was really more of a shooting yourself in the foot situation. Many provinces have state run liquor boards, so that alcohol was bought with taxpayer money. They should have bought it all up to get that money back in the system. Oh well.In other news... Trashed Panda is the hero we all needed, Kirin is developing beer with AI, and Gen Z is giving up on giving up. Finally. We are off next week for Christmas!Thank you all for riding along with us this year. We'll be back for one more show in 2025 before ringing in the New Year. Send us a textIn 2025, the beverage alcohol sector saw significant evolution across its regulatory, distribution, and investment landscapes. In this comprehensive Year in Review, Park Street Insider hosts Emmett Strack and Andres Correa sit down to analyze the year's defining moments through three key lenses: top industry news, emerging market trends, and major M&A activity. In this episode, we review the headlines that mattered most, including the implications of RNDC's exit from California, the shifting tariff environment, and notable CEO turnover among major suppliers. We also examine broader structural changes, from the complexities of the THC bill to the increasing migration of suppliers toward beer distributors, and break down the year's investment climate, highlighted by AB InBev's acquisition of Beatbox. We'll explore the practical takeaways from these developments and discuss how they set the stage for the industry in 2026.Mentioned in this episode:Navigating Beverage Alcohol Tariffs: Short-Term Tactics & Long-Term StrategiesHow Nosotros Tequila & Mezcal Navigated the RNDC CA Disruption and Returned to GrowthBeverage Alcohol Tariffs in 2025: Latest Developments & Industry ResponseWant to stay in the know about new episodes from the podcast? Adam, Joanna, and Zach debate the rumored sale of the wine-based RTD BeatBox to Anheuser-Busch InBev for $700 million. What prompted AB InBev to make this big of a commitment? Prebiotic cola, plant-based (and AI-inspired?) pulled chicken and protein-packed marshmallows. The hosts crack open Pepsi's new prebiotic cola and discuss whether a stevia-sweetened "functional" soda can win over classic cola fans. They also dig into Just Meat's big win at Walmart and what it says about the future of meat analogs, and why protein marshmallows might actually work in your next s'more. Show notes: 0:25: Rotten Roaches. The BevNET Bowls. Cloying & Fibrous. Who's Eating This Stuff? S'More, Please. – Jacqui explains why there is a bright red "biohazard" bag on her desk and the hosts joke about modern marketing tactics. They pivot to a preview of the upcoming NOSH Live, BevNET Live and Brewbound Live events, highlighting opportunities for founders to meet retailers, investors, and strategic partners. They sample PepsiCo's newly launched Pepsi Prebiotic – a lower-calorie, stevia-sweetened soda that comes in classic cola and cherry vanilla flavors – and opine on the minimalist white cans and whether Pepsi has clearly communicated the benefits. The hosts then discuss JUST Meat's newly launched plant-based pulled chicken, which is now available in four flavors at 3,000 Walmart stores, which sparks a debate about whether mainstream shoppers truly want meat analogs, and how clean-label concerns are shaping the category. Shifting gears, Ray highlights news that BeatBox Beverages – the colorful, party-forward, wine-based cocktail brand – is rumored to be an acquisition target by AB InBev in a deal reportedly worth around $700 million. Ray introduces Primal Sweets' protein marshmallows, which contain 25 grams of protein per bag and no sugar, and Albero D'oro cocktail cherries, before Jacqui presents Flour + Water's artisanal pasta, and Mike praises Hiyo's new pineapple coconut "social tonic." Brands in this episode: Rotten Candy, Oh So Easy, Keya's, Oddball, Pepsi, Poppi, Nixie, Just Meat, Beyond Meat, BeatBox, Primal Sweets, Flour + Water, Albero D'oro, Hiyo, Poppi

We look back at the results from the first half of 2025 and check in on the performances of the world's largest global beer companies (Heineken, Carlsberg, AB InBev, Molson Coors, Constellation Brands, and Royal Unibrew). We also look at three major themes affecting the beer business in 2025: the dramatic impact of harsh immigration policies on American Latinos, the struggles of European brewers to push costs onto consumers, and the urgency and surprising success of global beer businesses betting big on non-alcoholic beverages. Adam, Joanna, and Zach react to a trio of stories: first, Michelob Ultra has surpassed Modelo as the best-selling beer (by volume) in the United States - is this just because of tariffs and ICE raids, or has AB InBev hit on a winning message? Then, they explore whether a recent Harris poll about beverage preferences at restaurants says anything new about generational shifts in attitudes towards alcohol. Finally, the trio ponder the sale of LALO Tequila to fellow Austin-based drinks company Fifth Generation: can they replicate their incredible Tito's success with another clear spirit? Jim sits down with Amy Julian to dig into culture as lived behavior, not wallpaper. From early days in AB InBev's purchasing team through years of complex change, Amy unpacks why command-and-control stalls digital projects, how cross-industry thinking opens doors, and where AI is already moving the needle for mid-market procurement and supply chains. Expect straight talk on failed implementations, governance that actually clears roadblocks, and translating values into daily decisions on the floor. What you'll hearWhy culture is a set of guiding principles you can act on, lessons from the AB InBev acquisition years and getting comfortable with constant change, a candid failure story and what clunky multi-consultant programs miss, systems thinking across tech and manufacturing, agile mindsets meeting lean and PDCA, practical AI use cases for quoting, planning, and buy decisions, the shift from analyst work to relationship work, and how to build multi-level client alignment that survives real life.Topics coveredBehavior-driven culture and purpose, change management beyond slide decks, ERP friction and inventory truth, cross-functional governance, agile plus lean in the same room, AI agents for sourcing and planning, leadership communication and trust-but-verify, turning workshops into action logs people actually own.Key quotes“Culture is a set of guiding principles and behaviors that help me make the right decisions day to day.”“Most transformations fail where the behavior stops. She outlines how Kantar is helping brands balance efficiency with inspiration, and why the best marketing in the years ahead will come from humans and machines working together. We explore Kantar's research into how marketers really feel about AI adoption, uncovering why so many projects stall in pilot phase, and what steps can help teams move from experimentation to execution. Jane also discusses the importance of data quality as the foundation of effective AI, drawing comparisons to the early days of GDPR when oversight and governance first became front of mind. From Coca-Cola's AI-assisted Christmas ads to predictive analytics that help brands allocate budgets with greater confidence, Jane shares examples of where AI is already shaping marketing in ways that might surprise you. She also highlights the importance of cultural nuance in AI-driven campaigns across 90-plus markets, and why transparency, explainability, and human oversight are vital for earning consumer trust. Whether you're a CMO weighing AI strategy, a brand manager experimenting with new tools, or someone curious about how the biggest advertisers are reshaping their playbooks, this conversation with Jane Ostler offers both inspiration and practical guidance. It's about rethinking AI not as the end of creativity, but as the beginning of a new partnership between data, machines, and human imagination.
