FINDING HUMAN CONNECTION The Internet has connected the entire planet. So why is human connection at an all time low in this age of digital connectivity? Today’s guest discovered an answer and a solution to the problem. He did it through his own painful experiences. He is a millennial named Gordie Bufton. Gordie shares his discoveries in his two books, The Connection Effect: An Entrepreneurs’s Playbook to Unlocking the Present Moment, and Eluding Reality: A Memoir About Drugs, Psych Wards, and Recovery. These are few of the things you will learn from my conversation with Gordie: How the technology that serves you is also robbing your sense of human connection The power you gain when you need guidance and you reach out for help Why environment is stronger than willpower How to simplify your life and dramatically increase your focus The meaning of Silent Sunday and how it can reboot and renew you How to conquer information overwhelm Your life resume vs.your work resume How to be a master of technology instead of its slave BOOKS IN THIS POCAST The Connection Effect: An Entrepreneurs’s Playbook to Unlocking the Present Moment (https://www.amazon.com/Connection-Effect-Entrepreneurs-Playbook-Unlocking/dp/1940302188/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1535736370&sr=8-1&keywords=The+Connection+Effect) by Gordie Bufton Eluding Reality: A Memoir About Drugs, Psych Wards, and Recovery (https://www.amazon.com/Eluding-Reality-Memoir-about-Recovery-ebook/dp/B00D5P6OWU/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1535736729&sr=1-2) by Gordie Bufton (https://www.amazon.com/Slight-Edge-Secret-Successful-Life/dp/0967285550/ref=sr_1_4?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1535737252&sr=1-4&keywords=jeff+olson+slight+edge) by Jeff Olson – Gordie’s favorite book (https://www.amazon.com/ONE-Thing-Surprisingly-Extraordinary-Results/dp/1885167776/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1535737655&sr=1-1&keywords=one+thing+book) by Gary Keller and Jay Papasan The Seven Secrets to Living in Harmony: A Guide to Freeing YOU to Create YOUR Life (https://www.amazon.com/Seven-Secrets-Living-Harmony-Freeing-ebook/dp/B00REOWCRY/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1535736923&sr=1-1&keywords=gregory+reece+smith) by Gregory Reece Smith GORDIE’S FAVORITE QUOTE “Be the change you want to be in the world.” – Ghandi CONTACT GORDIE www.GordieBufton.com (http://www.gordiebufton.com/)
On this EO 360° episode, Dave Will is joined once again with international award-winning speaker and author, Gordie Bufton. Gordie Bufton spent his twentieth birthday in jail eating a Butterfinger chocolate bar. He knew he had to make some changes to his current lifestyle of drugs and alcohol however it would take running down the beach half naked being pursued by a police helicopter to finally help him take control. Today, at age 30, Bufton is a consultant to CEO's, professional speaker, and youth champion. He is also Susan's yoga partner and literally up for any challenge that doesn't involve substances. In this episode, you will find hope, clarity, and the powerful steps required to change any circumstance.
“My parents thought they hit the jackpot with me” - Gordie Bufton There’s a woman who buys a ticket. She gets in a plane, and passes all these little cultures of hills and cars and highways, and then - 2,000 miles later - realizes that the man whom she gave birth to and bought diapers in bulk for, is actually a complete shit show. On this episode, we talk about the shit show, and dive into a question that’s older than Nietzsche himself: can disadvantages be turned into advantages? Is that completely wrong? And if it’s true, why does the research give a different picture? The Facts Moonwalk is hosted, written, and produced by Mohnish Soundararajan. Episode was co-hosted by Kevin Sanji. Feedback is by Jarrod Sport, Kevin Sanji, Justine Brumm, Justin Sheppard, and Mary Moran. Special thanks to Gordie Bufton, Lisa Moore, and Mark Seery. Gordie Bufton is a transformational catalyst, speaker and author. His memoir Eluding Reality: A Memoir about Drugs, Psych Wards and Recovery details the most horrific and metamorphic moments of his life to inspire others to make different choices. My conversation today with Gordie is about to unravel some of the truths and fallacies around when people stray from the norm. We’re going to talk about his our journey, which led him to educating parents on some of the warning signs of drug use in their children. He also shares the differences between what people were doing 30 years ago and now when it comes to drugs, the effects of drugs on the brain and so much more. I think you’re going to find that the conversation we’re having is really about transforming belief systems. How is it that you can go from being in a very dark place to being on the top of the world? Tune in as Gordie is here to share his fascinating story and insights!
Gordie did not take the smooth route to get where he currently is in life. If there was an easy way or a "how to" book that would enable one to discover him or herself, Gordie definitely did not read it. His journey involved addictions to numerous substances and multiple mental illness diagnoses. From rock bottom, he describes the experience, the emotions, the pain and his journey back to reality. It is now his mission to share his story and inspire millions of young adults. Using their platform, Rich Legacy, Gordie Bufton, and his partner Bradley Callow, help high-performing families from around the world empower their children in a way that moves them away from self-destructive behaviors. Having both barely escaped prison and death, they now provide eye-opening insights from the perspective of the child. This approach inspires parents to engage with their children in a way they never dreamed possible. With a focus on the child's perspective, they deliver live events, workshops, information products, and family consultation to support children and their parents as they navigate the unique challenges not found in other types of families. Their Five Principles of Family Realignment are rooted in our personal journeys, as well as conversations with thousands of children, parents, and professionals who come from or work with driven-families. Their mission is to provide the understanding, connection, patterning, empowerment, and balancing needed to ensure a rich and healthy legacy for the families they reach.
