Two strange companions have followed them to the city, under the orders of their dark lord. Slaying them accomplishes nothing, so the dreamers must find another means of stopping them. Even with the aid of cats like Splendid, can the dreamers defeat the immortal companions? This episode uses material from the Wives of March from Hebanon Games.

The Misanthropes headed to Durham, NC for the Escapist Expo this year! While we were there, we made a spur-of-the-moment decision to run an impromptu game of Call of Cthulhu using Hebanon Games' newest scenario, the Wives of March! Despite having nearly no prep time, the game came out pretty well! Thanks again to all of our players! :) (This was a game played in a somewhat-crowded room with regular foot traffic, so please forgive the audio quality. It gets better towards the end once people start clearing out.)

July 1933, Barefoot Crossing, Georgia... A Methodist preacher by the name of Dashell March has been murdered. While the community mourns, March's will is called into question, and his murderer still remains free. A handful of investigators, each working for a different employer, each with their own motivations, set out to unravel the truth behind the mystery. The question is: what secrets are the Marsh family hiding? Another fantastic No Security scenario by Caleb Stokes of Hebanon Games! 

The Wives of March is a horror mystery set in Barefoot Crossing, a sharecropping community on the rural outskirts of Savannah, Georgia. Two investigators from opposite sides of society are charged with examining the murder of a Methodist preacher and accidentally reveal an ancient, inhuman conspiracy in the process. Can they overcome a supernatural evil masquerading as the banal atrocities so commonly perpetrated by mankind? This scenario is a playtest of the upcoming PDF release from Hebanon Games.

1967 Brazil: RYAN WHITEHEAD, hot off the success of his first novel (Man Jesus with the Golden Arm) has become a revered author in the growing American counter-culture. Described as “the next Hunter Thompson rising from the swamps of Southern Gothic,” the author has his pick of book deals and assignments. Seeking to cash-in on his long-awaited success, Whitehead signs a contract with Blammo! magazine for a cover piece. The determining factor in his decision? Free tickets to Brazil and a per diem for alcohol. The piece is meant to cover construction of the Transamazon Highway. After the coup of ’64, the military government promised the people they’d cut a highway through the untamed jungle that ran the length of the entire river. Rumor has it that the encampment of the workers, nicknamed “Little Altamira,” is a lawless border town of drugs, sex, and every other vice imaginable. The town limps behind the steamrollers, rebuilding itself every day so it can party all through the night. Blammo! is eager for a piece over this lawless bordertown in Whitehead’s inimitable style. At the insistence of the author, accompanying is ALBERT CAPCHKA, Ryan’s life-long friend, lawyer, and drug dealer. Making sure the boys actually do some writing at the end of all their partying is GABRIELLA LARENTINO, a Portuguese immigrant, editor for the magazine’s feminist coverage, and all-around professional stickler. Together, they head down the river to intercept Little Altamira as it cuts its way across the jungle.
