Trent Kusters chats with Hakan Abrak, CEO & Co-Owner of IO Interactive. Hakan is also the Game Director on IOI's take on the Bond legacy with 007 First Light. Together they discuss how IOI met with MGM and the Ian Fleming estate to first pitch the project; the responsibilities they felt to stay true to the Bond IP; balancing dialogue and humor and how that differs from film to games; the casting process of finding a new Bond; and what they learned from the Hitman series that informed the design of a 007 experience. The Art of the Steal: Trump and the Economic Hit Man Presidency by John Perkins https://www.amazon.com/Art-Steal-Trump-Economic-Presidency/dp/B0G7VFBY21 Johnperkins.org Since World War II, US presidents of both parties have relied on an economic hit man strategy. They have used the four pillars of that strategy (fear, debt, anxiety over insufficiency, and divide and conquer) to control other nations and enrich a growing oligarchy. In the groundbreaking Confessions of an Economic Hit Man trilogy, John Perkins exposed the complex, expansive, and clandestine global network that serves the interests of powerful corporate, financial, and political entities. In The Art of the Steal, he reveals its most dangerous evolution. Donald Trump represents a historic shift. He is the first US president to turn the economic hit man strategy into a personal brand and governing style. He has ascended the four pillars, brought the playbook home, and reversed the march toward the American ideal of liberty, equality, justice, democracy, opportunity, and an individualism that supports family and community. At the same time, he has forced what was hidden into the open. This book explains how this happened, why it matters, and what each of us can do to turn things around. Both warning and blueprint, it offers a pathway to renewing the American ideal—and using it to model a new global ideal. About the author John Perkins is the author of 12 books on global intrigue, economics, shamanism, and transformation, including “Confessions of an Economic Hit Man,” and “Touching the Jaguar.” They have been on the New York Times bestseller list for more than 70 weeks, sold millions of copies, and are published in at least 38 languages. His latest, “Message from Pleiades,” is the story of a life-and-world-changing experience in an ancient Mayan city; it is his first novel (written under the pen name of J P Moody). As chief economist at a major consulting firm, John advised the World Bank, UN, Fortune 500 corporations, US and other governments. He regularly speaks at universities and economic and environmental forums and is a founder of the Pachamama Alliance and Dream Change, non profit organizations that partner with indigenous people to protect environments and offer programs to change the destructive ways of industrial societies.

The Big Five Project returns to cover one of the threshold moments in WWE history as we continue to transition from the New Generation to the Attitude Era. On this episode, Dave and PC Tunney are thrilled to welcome Christopher Platt to the Big Five project for the very first time. On this installment, we review and analyze WrestleMania XIII. While certainly not the strongest of the Attitude Era WrestleManias, this March evening in Chicago, in 1997, would forever change the landscape of WWE. It was a night that saw the Undertaker win the WWF Championship for the first time in six years. It was also a night that saw a wild Street Fight between Chicago's favorite sons, the Legion of Doom, teaming up with Ahmed Johnson, to tangle with the Nation of Domination. On this evening, Rocky Maivia would make his WrestleMania debut and would share a WrestleMania moment with his father, Rocky Johnson. But, all of those pales in comparison to one of the greatest matches in WrestleMania history as Stone Cold Steve Austin and Bret "Hitman" Hart squared off in a brutal submission match, that would culminate in the most famous double turn in pro wrestling history. For most of us, it was a WrestleMania that was quite a but better than we recalled. Will you agree? On this week's episode, Nathan and Riley are joined by Wes Fenlon of PC Gamer to discuss his new project: Warp Point, a web 1.0-style webring of video game blogs for the modern era. We discuss how the current internet is dying while a new one struggles to be born and whether or not newer generations will take to a format with which most millennials are intimately acquainted. Does that even matter, though, or is a fixation on numbers and scale one of the main reasons the modern internet turned out so rancid in the first place? Then we move on to the news of the week: Xbox layoffs haven't even happened yet, but they're already causing turmoil for companies like Hitman and 007 First Light maker IO Interactive, and—on the other side of our rapidly escalating industry collapse—Sony announced that it's phasing out physical discs entirely, a quake that will surely be followed by countless ripples. To cheer ourselves up, we invent the ultimate video game controller, which doubles as the world's most complicated guitar.Credits- Hosts: Nathan Grayson, Riley MacLeod, and special guest Wes Fenlon- Podcast Production & Ads: Multitude- Subscribe to Aftermath!About The ShowAftermath Hours is the flagship podcast of Aftermath, a worker-owned, subscription-based website covering video games, the internet, and everything that comes after from journalists who previously worked at Kotaku, Vice, and The Washington Post. Main, where he says he helped engineer debt deals that enriched U.S. corporations and advanced American geopolitical interests. Since exposing that system, he has become one of the most influential critics of corporate empire, foreign intervention, and the financial machinery used to control nations — including in his forthcoming new book, Art of the Steal. In this conversation, Faust and Perkins trace the through-line between Trump corruption and the older economic hitman model Perkins says was used to trap nations in debt, strip them of leverage, and fold them deeper into the machinery of American empire. The conversation moves through World Bank debt, fear-based politics, and the manufactured sense of scarcity Perkins argues has been used to keep both nations and populations compliant. It also explores how war, corruption, and financial dependence feed the same cycle — and what China's rise, America's declining credibility, and a broader crisis of consciousness might signal about where that cycle leads next.In this episode:• Trump & the Economic Hitman Model: Why John Perkins thinks Trump didn't invent a new system — he brought an old one home.• World Bank Debt: How a country can look like it's developing while losing control of its future.• Who Recruited John Perkins? The strange path from business school and the Peace Corps to the world of private intelligence and economic warfare.• Too Big to Fail: How did Trump use debt to make the system work for him?• Iran & the Strait of Hormuz: Why Perkins says the U.S. helped build the infrastructure behind one of the world's most dangerous choke points.• China vs. America: Did endless war and broken promises hand the future to Beijing?• A Crisis of Consciousness: Is the real problem corruption and empire — or the way we've been taught to define success itself?• Perkins' Five Questions: The personal audit Perkins believes can break the spell of fear, debt, and scarcity. What begins as a conversation about Trump, debt, and empire ends somewhere much stranger: with the possibility that the only lasting way out is to change the consciousness that keeps rebuilding the system in the first place.Check out John's bookshttps://www.amazon.com/stores/John-Perkins/author/B000APETSYPre-order Art of the Stealhttps://a.co/d/01e6CBd0Connect with John Perkinshttps://www.johnperkins.org/https://www.instagram.com/jperkinsauthorhttps://x.com/jperkinsauthorhttps://www.facebook.com/johnperkinsauthorhttps://www.tiktok.com/@jperkinsauthorJoin us on PatreonFor uncensored episodes, behind-the-scenes content, and exclusive community access:https://patreon.com/FarOutWithFaustListen on Spotify + Apple PodcastsSpotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/6StPwgq2di3f8uxnc6SmIfApple: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/far-out-with-faust-fowf/id1533017218FOWF & Faust Checho on socialhttps://www.instagram.com/faroutwithfaust/https://www.instagram.com/theonefaustchecho/https://www.facebook.com/Faroutwithfausthttps://x.com/faustchechohttps://patreon.com/FarOutWithFaustQUESTION THE ANSWERS™#Trump #WorldEconomics #Capitalismwe'd love to hear from you

When the federal case against Jim Sullivan was dismissed in 1992, Lita McClinton's family thought they'd lost their last chance at justice. They were wrong — but it would take another fourteen years, a tip from a receptionist in a Texas refinery town, an international manhunt, and a four-year fugitive run through Costa Rica and Thailand before Lita's killer finally stood trial. In the second of a two-part series, writer Deb Miller Landau picks up the story where Part 1 left off: with a wealthy man getting away with murder. She walks us through the trucker who admitted to pulling the trigger, the prosecutor whose phone call may have tipped off the killer, the resort in Cha-Am where the FBI finally caught up with Jim Sullivan, and the verdict that came nearly twenty years after Lita McClinton answered her doorbell.Deb Landau's book is "A Devil Went Down to Georgia: Race, Power, Privilege, and the Murder of Lita McClinton":https://www.amazon.com/Devil-Went-Down-Georgia-Privilege/dp/1639366830Subscribe to our newsletter: https://jedlipinski.substack.com/ Connect with Jed Lipinski:https://www.instagram.com/gonesouthpodcast/https://www.facebook.com/groups/gonesouthpodcast/https://www.linkedin.com/in/jed-lipinski/

Put down that joystick! What if I told you there was a kind of video game that you can play without having to do anything at all? All of the character depth and story coherence of a video game, but all you have to do is sit there and stare at it? It's called a "movie" and we're talking about three of them! The Doppelganger Disruption, Hobart Crashes The DizRadio Show! We have an absolutely wild ride for you on this week's The DizRadio Show. If you've ever looked in the mirror and thought, Man, I could pass for a Hollywood A-lister, this is the show for you! We welcome HOBART, a man who wears so many hats it's a wonder his neck doesn't snap! You might know him as the high-energy host of Live Play Bingo, a veteran musician who crushed the Warped Tour, or the brilliant composer behind the soundtracks for ESPN X, Deadpool, Rock Band, and more. But lately he's taking the world by storm as the star and creator of the hilarious breakout comedy I Am Ryan, inspired by his real-life, surreal career standing in as a body double for none other than Ryan Reynolds! He joins the show to dish out the hilarious, bizarro reality of looking exactly like one of the biggest movie stars on the planet. He shared what it's really like to be on set as a body double for blockbuster hits like Free Guy and The Hitman's Bodyguard. From there he realized there was a much bigger, crazier story to tell so Hobart penned a script back in 2017, and after nine years of relentless indie-filmmaking hustle, I Am Ryan officially hit theaters this summer under Carl Jackson Studios! It shows us what it's like to constantly get stopped by fans in public who think they've just run into the real deal, going viral across social media with his look-alike antics, and the utter chaos of shooting red carpet scenes for the movie! Jonathan from the D-Team stepped into the spotlight to geek out over Hollywood's historical obsession with look-alikes, stunt doubles, and identity-swap movies. He bridges the gap between Hobart's modern meta-comedy and a few lesser-known gems that deal with the exact same weird theme. Whether you're a gamer, a music nerd, a Deadpool fan, or just love a phenomenal underdog filmmaker story, this show is for you this week. So enjoy the Nostalgia, the Magic, the Wonder, and the Memories with The DizRadio Show "A Pop Culture Celebrity Guest Show"!

How do you protect the human craft of storytelling while navigating a global independent market that is rapidly contracting? This week, Giles Alderson and Phil Hawkins sit down for an incredibly candid, wide-ranging masterclass with Jonathan Yunger—President of Millennium Media and co-founder of Arcana Labs. Jonathan has masterminded massive worldwide features grossing billions of dollars—producing major franchise hits like The Expendables, The Hitman's Bodyguard, and the Fallen series, alongside star-driven indie standouts like Tesla starring Ethan Hawke, Jolt starring Kate Beckinsale, Till Death starring Megan Fox, and The Enforcer starring Antonio Banderas. His latest project, John Rambo (directed by Sisu filmmaker Jalmari Helander), is a masterclass in 99% practical, old-school action cinema. Yet, Jonathan is also leading the charge on ethical, artist-driven tech integration through Arcana Labs—an enterprise-grade ecosystem fully vetted by major streaming networks after rigorous multi-month security compliance reviews. In this episode, we strip away the PR spin to examine how the disruption of streaming windows broke the traditional indie minimum guarantee model, and why embracing assistive workflows is the key to reclaiming creative risk.
This week on The Inner Gamer, we tackle a massive crossroad for the entire video game industry. We lead off with an in-depth review of 007 First Light, breaking down how IO Interactive successfully stepped away from their classic Hitman sandbox formula to deliver a tight, narrative-driven James Bond origin story that balances high-octane spy craft with incredible narrative momentum. Then, we are joined by a special guest to brave the waters of Windrose, the breakout Early Access pirate survival RPG, exploring whether its phenomenal "Soulslite" ground combat makes up for its arcade naval physics and the distinct lack of a solo pause feature. In our main segment, the crew splits down the middle in a fierce debate over Bungie's historic announcement to freeze development on Destiny 2 following the Monument of Triumph patch. Is cutting off a ten-year-old game a necessary, pragmatic evolution to focus all hands on Marathon, or is abandoning a premier multi-billion dollar franchise a critical corporate error under Sony's roof? Finally, we sift through the massive firehose of announcements from the Xbox Showcase, State of Play, and Summer Game Fest. We take around 15 of the biggest upcoming titles—including Marvel's Wolverine, Control Resonant, Halo: Campaign Evolved, and Gears of War: E-Day—and map them into a master thematic blueprint so you can cut through the marketing noise and find your next definitive gaming obsession before GTA 6 arrives to alter the landscape. At Summer Game Fest 2026, I sat down with IO Interactive's Matias (Principal Level Designer) and Hilde Sunde (Lead Environment Artist) to break down 007 First Light — the new James Bond game from the studio behind Hitman. We get into how IOI reimagined Bond for a new era, why First Light plays nothing like Hitman, the ammo-scarce combat that forces you to keep moving, the eavesdrop spy mechanic, and the wildly contrasting worlds — from a luxury Vietnam resort to the rough Mauritania desert. Plus dream Bond locations and the team's favorite 007 films. (Sorry, Pierce.)
At Summer Game Fest 2026, I sat down with Véronique Lallier, Chief Development Officer at IO Interactive, to talk about the explosive launch of 007 First Light — 2.7 million copies sold in its first week — and what's next for both James Bond and Hitman. We get into the 7-year journey to build the new 007, why First Light plays nothing like Hitman, reimagining Bond for a new generation while staying authentic, the star-studded cast (Patrick Gibson as the young Bond, plus Lenny Kravitz), launching across 14 platforms, Hitman crossing 1 billion eliminations, and the Wiz Khalifa Elusive Target coming to Hitman.Enjoying the channel? 007 First Light is the new game from IO Interactive, the developers of the beloved stealth series Hitman. So you'd be forgiven for assuming this entry in the Bond canon would emphasize sleuthy spycraft. Instead, IOI created something akin to a season of James Bond television, spotlighting its strong story above everything else. Was that the right choice? It depends on which Besty you ask!
