#thewheeloftime Rand makes a deal that puts some distance between him and Moiraine. Nynaeve and Elayne learn more about the Seanchan and warn Rema Sedai about Liandrin's change of allegiance. Egwene gets a rough lesson in what being a Damane really means. Ingtar and Loial gather information about the Horn of Valere. Mat has a happy reunion, but has to make a painful decision when he learns of Min's betrayal. Lan makes a confession to the Amyrlin Seat. Moiraine attempts to make amends with her family. Rand is confronted on his way to Falme.Editor's Note: Around the 8:30 mark, we begin discussing the actor playing the role of Renna, and it is brought to our attention that they prefer he/they pronouns, although they are playing a confirmed female character. Our usage of she/her pronouns after that were specifically talking about the character - not the actor - and we wanted to make that clear in case it seemed as if we were misgendering actor Xelia Mendes-Jones. That was not our intention.Mentioned in the episode: JordanCon is a Science Fiction/Fantasy literature convention founded in honor of Robert Jordan, author of the Wheel of Time. She then transports herself and Rand into the city, where Rand confronts and kills Turak and his men. This causes Ishamael to learn of Rand's presence and realize that Lanfear has betrayed him. Ishamael orders Padan Fain to deliver the dagger from Shadar Logoth to Mat, in an attempt to kill Rand. However, Mat refuses to take the dagger and escapes. The Whitecloaks, led by Dain and his father Geofram, attack Falme in an attempt to eradicate the Seanchan. During the chaos, Ingtar, Loial, and Masema escape with the Horn of Valere and join the battle alongside Mat, Perrin, and the Aiel. Ingtar is killed in the process. Egwene manages to break free from her a'dam and kill Renna. Mat is forced to blow the Horn, summoning the Heroes of the Horn and turning the tide of the battle. At the same time, Perrin kills Geofram out of rage due to him killing Hopper. Rand, Egwene, Nynaeve, Perrin, and Mat reunite and are confronted by Ishamael. Ishamael has Rand shielded from the One Power and tricks Mat into wounding Rand. While Egwene and Perrin fight Ishamael, Moiraine frees Rand from the shield, allowing him to slay Ishamael. Rand is then proclaimed the Dragon Reborn before the whole city. After the battle, Moghedien confronts Lanfear and informs her that all the Forsaken have been released.

The Wheel of Time Season 2 world expands as we learn more about the mysterious Seanchan in Episode 5, "Damane." From sinister collars, golden pacifiers, to some seriously intense manicures, the devil is in the details as we unpack the motives and culture s of the outsiders who have ensnared Ingtar, Loial, and Egwene.Beyond Falme, Liandrin takes a trip to Trader Joe's for some asparagus, as a suspicious Verin tries to ferret out schemes in the White Tower. Perrin makes some friends, Mo dupes Lanfear, Rand gets tied up (again.) Zoe questions Aiel accents, fight choreography, and the obvious lack of a pristine white dress in Lanfear's wardrobe. If you have read the full book series, stick around until 1:16:00 for in depth spoiler discussion and theories.
We have made it! We finished the book and all the loose ends are tied up and Moiraine explains everything! Well not quite, but we do get a great set up for book 2, The Great Hunt. Is Rand super happy now that he can channel? What's hiding at the bottom of the Eye? Where will our beloved characters head to next after relaxing at Air BnB Fal Dara? Here's what we know for sure: The Dark One's prison is exactly like a Lincoln Logs fortress, Aes Sedai are all about dorm room vibes, and our boy Ingtar is definitely not a vibes guy. As we conclude the first step in our Wheel of Time journey we want to thank all who have listened and interacted with us, the Coplins are not done yet! Next week we recap the book, and then onto Wheel of Time show review and soon look out for some brand new cover art! We are so excited so stick around and join us for The Great Coplin Hunt. As we take up the hunt again, our gang is splintered even further. Rand wakes up in a dismal mirror world with Hurin and Loial and the only way to return to their world requires a step Rand wishes to never take again. Perrin and the wolves take the lead for Ingtar's lance of Shienarans. Both groups are joined for one purpose: find the Horn. Oh, and save Mat too. Thank you, thank you for joining us! Rand, Hurin and Loial can't figure out wtf is going on in the Portal Stone World they wake up in. And then Lanfear shows up to start messing with their heads! Is she compelling them somehow? Well, we've done it again. Beaten our own record for longest episode. At this rate the final episode of A Memory of Light will be 24h long... But I digress. Fal Dara is under attack! The seemingly impenetrable fortress of Fal Dara is suddenly crawling with shadowspawn and darkfriends but somehow Rand still manages to be all "emo" about everything. He makes a grizzly discovery in the dungeons, Liandrin is the worst and Lan gives Nynaeve a get-out-of-jail-free card. Also, the "true" hunt begins in earnest! The boys race off with Ingtar and his crew of merry lancers to track down the Horn of Valere and the dagger from Shadar Logoth, and the ladies set off for Tar Valon. But not before Rand has an extremely tense audience with the Amyrlin Seat herself and we get to see more of the political games being played by the Aes Sedai. In which we struggle to pronounce Barthanes' name, long for the Betsy Ross/Ross Betsy timeline that never was, and make way too many comparisons to Supernatural.
Kelsey and Aradia Host again for episodes 95 and 96. The party leaves Ingtar behind to redeem himself by delaying the Seanchan. He has Toh, and he settles it honorably. We talk about how lots of people had Mat grow on them. Post dagger Mat is much more lovable. Despite Ingtar's sacrifice, the party is slowly being surrounded. They discuss their options while they themselves now face death. It's Mat's idea to to blow the horn. No one objects. The sound it makes is as golden as the horn itself. Time Stops. A fog rises as the Whitecloaks begin their charge westward toward Falme, and the Seanchan march eastward toward the Whitecloak cavalry, with Rand and his party in between. Are the heroes horses heroes as well? After greeting Mat and the Dragon, Hawkwing tells Hurin that sometimes new heroes are added to their number. Who from this age might become join their ranks? Could Rand be one, or is the Dragon separate in each age? Lot's of interesting questions about the Horn of Valere, it's connection to the world of dreams, and whether or not Rand is always the dragon. We talk about some quotes from Robert Jordan about The Wheel of Time universe's cyclical timeline, and where his ideas for that came from. We also discuss the irony of Hawkwing leading the heroes against the armies of his own descendants. We spend some time on light and dark prophecy, on whether or not they're self fulfilling, and if they may sometimes be more trouble than they're worth. When Rand asks the heroes to help save Egwene, they laugh at him. Birgitte even points out that he's always having some trouble with a woman. When Rand battles Ishmael in the sky, he forces Saidin into his power-wrought blade. Is that Ba'alzamon is afraid of being struck and why he's eventually so badly injured by the wound Rand inflicts on him, and perhaps why the cloud of darkness enveloping Ishamael is said to scream when Rand strikes his opponent down. Today's special Episode, as well as episode 96 will be hosted by by two of our awesome Patrons Aradia and Kelsey. Patrick and Seth take a step back and hang out in the chat channel and listen live for a change. When our Patrons ask we like to deliver. Whether they'd like to be on the show, or just have us talk about certain subjects. When Nynaeve charges into Egwene's rooms to save her, she immediately mentions her love interests. She feels like she's living a dream, and can't believe what's happening. We talk about her shifting interests and how that ultimately affects some important outcomes in the series. We discuss Egwene as a war time Amyrlin, and debate a bit about whether or she would be a decent leader in a post war world with special consideration toward Egwene's impulse to torture and kill Seta in this scene. Luckily, Nynaeve reigns her in with some wisdom on the concept of justice. A bit on the culling of channelers, and how that affects the various cultures in the Wheel of Time universe. Is Bela the real hero, simply rubbing off on the 'main' characters? Ingtar explains to Rand that he's a Darkfriend. He's been under compulsion, but he sees an opportunity to redeem himself when he realizes he can sacrifice himself to save the party having learned what his fate would other wise be from the Portal Stone accident. Rand does not tell anyone else, and let's him die with everyone believing he martyred himself for the cause. This allows Rand's party to escape. Death is lighter than a feather, and the ever victorious army can not always be so. The five that Verin helps to choose ride forth toward Toman Head. She makes sure that the men she sends fit the prophecies that must be fulfilled. Ingtar, Rand, Mat, Perrin, and Hurin see many scenes of the destruction and death left behind by the Seanchan's Conquest of the area, its enslavement of female channelers, and the Whitecloak campaign in the countryside that follows afterward. This group of Seanchan call themselves the 'Forerunners'. This is only the prep work for the true invasion. Hurin of course, leads the effort to track what has become of the Horn of Valere, and Mat's ruby-hilted dagger. One thousand Whitecloaks, Rand's group of threads, and the Seanchan forerunners all converge at this place at this time. We talk about the compulsion Byar is likely afflicted with at various points in the series, and the fate of this group of Whitecloaks, and Perrin's important antagonist relationship with this group of fanatics. Five ride forth toward Toman Head, but only four will return. You folks getting excited for Ingtar's confession and martyrdom? Alar leads the humans to a nearby Portal Stone, and explains that the Ogier had repaired it, but weren't able to move the stone in anyway. We talk about how we think the Portal Stones work, why they can't be moved to anywhere they're not supposed to be, and offer some head-canon on how we imagine the 'Lines of If' are connected and accessed. Verin is not strong enough in the Power to use a Portal Stone, so she explains to Rand in private, that it's all on him to reproduce something like what he had done once before, but this time, she gives Rand some idea of which symbols to use, and how a portal stone works. This next moment is a Major crux of the series. We see some of our first multiple futures, where the characters near the stone see what could happen should they make certain choices in their lives, hundreds or thousands of variables. Rand channels. Rand and Tam die on Winternight, because he never threw the tea kettle. Rand never leaves the Two Rivers, Egwene and Nynaeve manage to keep him alive to an old age. He was a soldier, he was a shepherd, he was a beggar, and a king, a farmer, gleeman, sailor, and a carpenter. He was born, lived, and died Aiel. He died mad, he died rotting, he died of sickness, accident, or age. Sometimes Moiraine comes for him, sometimes she does not. Sometimes other Aes Sedai came for him, sometimes the Red Ajah. Sometimes he marries Egwene, sometimes she kills or gentles him. But at the end of every life, a voice whispers in his ear. “I have won again, Lews Therin.” Is this the Dark One, or Ishamael? We Speculate on that, as well as on how easily everything could go wrong in Rand's life. When the Party arrives on Toman Head 3-4 months later, they have all lived hundreds of lives, and now have this opportunity to learn from their future mistakes. Masema is weeping openly, Uno vomits, Ingtar is screaming about how he will always walk in the light, Perrin finally accepts his Talent, Mat swears to stay loyal to Rand until the end, Verin gets ideas...and heals everyone. When Juin ushers the humans in, there are Seven Ogier Elders who greet Rand, Verin, Ingtar, and the others. We talk about how old these Ogier are and what they look like. There are some wonderful descriptions, especially of Alar, the Eldest. The Eldest of Stedding Tsofu understands the great need our party has to use their Waygate, but the Ogier do not believe in acting with out consideration. Finding the Horn of Valere is a great need indeed, as is saving Mat's life, but Alar takes the time to explain to Verin, Rand, and Ingtar what could happen to them should the encounter the Black Wind. She then has a middle aged Ogier brought out, who was the last Ogier to travel the ways over a hundred years ago. He returned to Stedding Tsofu without a soul or a mind, but with his body intact. Verin hisses audibly when she delves the Ogier. Alar also brings up Loial to Rand. She can sense that Rand is Ta'veren and questions whether Loial has been pulled into Rand's Web of the Pattern. “You will look after him” Alar instructs Rand “And, when the weaving is done, you will return him to Stedding Shangtai”. Rand agrees, and in return Alar agrees to bring the Humans to her Waygate. Erith gives Loial a flower, which we think we can confirm, he carries for the rest of the series, or at least until he is married. When the Party arrives at Tsofu's Waygate. Machin Shin is already waiting there for Rand. After coming into contact with Padan Fain, Machin Shin is also now compelled to hunt Rand Al'Thor, and it will be for the rest of the series. Without access to the Ways, Rand's party quickly comes to the conclusion that another Portal Stone must be used. Luckily there is one nearby. Life is interesting with Ta'veren for friends. The party that fled Cairhien Arrives at Stedding Tsofu. Ingtar continues to show signs of distress, likely an effect of Ishameal's compulsion during the Darkfriend Social. Loial is also reluctant to head toward the Stedding. He might be discovered and shipped back to his mother in Stedding Shangtai. We meet Erith, Loial's future wife for the first time. She mentions the Aiel and the Traveling people avoiding eachother. We also see the deep mistrust between the Shienarans and the Aiel until an older Ogier intervenes, and stops what could have ended up being a bloody fight. There are a lot of beautiful descriptions of what inhabited Stedding look like, and of Ogier culture. While Loial attracts the attention of the Lady Ogier, Rand attracts the attention of the Far Dareis Mai. Although, the Aiel women are disgusted by Rand when they realize he carries a sword. The Elders of Stedding Tsofu agree to meet with the Humans, and speak with them about using their Waygate. WoTSpoilers is a twice weekly book-club, and you can join our conversations on Discord. The innkeeper arrives at Rands door with more invitations. This time from the two most powerful houses in Cairhien. Hurin explains that these invitations can not be ignored. Rand has to accept at least one, or assassins will start coming after him. There is no way out of the city without being attacked by Fain. The longer they stay, the deeper Rand becomes tangled in Daes Daes'mar. When Rand leaves the inn to see if Ingtar and the Shienarans have arrived to bail him out, he returns to find that it's now a structure fire. Hurin was attacked, and the chest stolen. Loial and Rand manage to drag his unconscious form out of the building, saving him from being burned alive. Verin, Mat, Perrin, and the Shienarans arrive just a few minutes too late. We talk about how Rand has fallen into the leadership role Moiraine placed him in. Barthanes's manner was built in the last few years right on top of an Ogier Grove. It has it's own Waygate and that's where Fain is headed with the Horn and the Dagger, with the Black Wind to guard his retreat. While Ingtar despairs over the Horn, Rand tells Verin about the portal stone, and Selene. Does Verin know that Selene is Lanfear? She has all the clues, and has often understood more with less information. She DOES manage to come up with the strategy though, that will eventually get the Horn back. We believe the Pattern won't let Ingtar get to the Horn, ever. Was Barthanes at the infamous Darkfriend social? Was Verin? Could Rand have channeled using only the Choedan Kal with out the access key, is that possible? As Perrin guides the Shienaran lances south toward Cairhien, the wolves tell him there are people in the mountains to the east. The Wise Ones have sent warriors across the Spine of the World in search of their Car'a'carn. Ingtar is desperate to find the Horn, either to hand it over to the Dark in an attempt to save Shienar from oblivion, or to the light in order redeem himself, we can't say for sure. Perrin learns of the one the wolves call “Shadow Killer” who has been killing Trollocs in the countryside. An Aielman emerges from the rocky terrain, and presents himself to the party. "My name is Urien, of the Two Spires sept of the Reyn Aiel. I am a Red Shield. Remember me." Other than Rand, he is the first of the Aiel we meet in the series. Verin and Ingtar question him, and we learn a little about Rhuidean, Aiel Wise-women, He Who Comes with the Dawn, and of course, Dancing the Spears. In the after-show, we discuss the Aiel Waste, how their clothing is well designed for sun exposure, Patrick's Wheel of Time tattoos, his experiences backpacking, and living outdoors in the SW United States. While Rand waits for Ingtar to arrive, he catches “Selene” going through his bags. We speculate about why, but the crazy ex-girlfriend theory was most popular among our discord community. Lanfear wants Rand as her companion, to rule the world together, forever, and ever, and ever... Hurin spots Fain and his followers. “Selene” likely compels Rand to take Loial and scout the camp. “Remember the glory, Lord Rand”. Everything she wants, she gets. The void hides Rand from Fain's tracking ability, and in a daring maneuver Loial and Rand escape with the treasures pursued by trollocs and darkfriends in the night. Rand has a strange death wish moment, we think this has to due with the dagger's dark effect on his mind. Is the chest a stasis box. Will it protect the party from the dagger? Perrin truly embraces his Talent for the first time, in much the way Rand has been accepting his own power, out of necessity. Rand, Hurin, and Loial have disappeared, and Ingtar is FURIOUS. Perrin's reluctant, but he knows that he could do Hurin's job with the help of the local wolves. Perrin finds out that the wolves have named him Young Bull, and Rand has earned the name Shadowkiller. The wolves are enthusiastic to help in the hunt for Fain and his Shadowspawn. Ingtar knows about Perrin's Talent, but advises him not to tell anyone else; there are some who might misunderstand, despite wolves being considered good luck in the Borderlands. The wolves quickly lead Perrin to the edge of a village the Trollocs have desecrated, and the party is being followed as well, by Verin. Verin tells the hunters that Moiraine had sent her to them; a verifiable lie. Verin will have felt the massive amount of Saidar Lanfear used to Transport Rand with the Portal Stone. VERIN KNOWS. We start with follow up on the last few episodes, including who becomes a hero of the horn, Thom's location, Hurin's sense of smell and how that interacts with Ingtar's deeds, and a few others. Lan instructs Rand on how to act and walk with the Amyrlin Seat. She manipulates him into chasing after the Horn, and reveals she knows he is the Dragon Reborn. We talk about Nynaeve's new ability to feel a storm coming, and Lan shows up give her his ring. Nynaeve and Egwene talk about boys, and we think about Egwene bonding Galad rather than Gawyn.
