Bible is a collection of 66 books written under the authorship of 40 different writers spanning 1600 years. These writers wrote as inspired by God, and hence Bible claims for itself a divine origin. Divine origin of the bible is evidenced by some unique features, that would otherwise not be part of a book written by human inspiration or authorship. The post Internal Evidence for Bible's Divine Origin appeared first on Borivali Assembly.
This is the second part of a two-part series on why Mark 16:9-20 is authentic to the original autograph of the Bible. Brother David Griffin examines the internal evidence and how it supports the legitimacy of the verses. David Griffin – Internal Evidence for the Long Ending of Mark 16 MP3 Link
Many people wonder if a document as old as the Bible can be considered historically reliable. Moreover, they wonder if it is even possible to test the reliability of a document that is so old. My guest today helps us to see that there are intellectually credible ways to test and rely on the historicity of the Gospels and the New Testament. Her name is Lydia McGrew and she introduces us to the argument from internal evidence and undesigned coincidences. Dr. Lydia McGrew is a widely published analytic philosopher and author. She received her Ph.D. in English from Vanderbilt University in 1995. She has published extensively in the theory of knowledge, specializing in formal epistemology and in its application to the evaluation of testimony and to the philosophy of religion. She defends the reliability of the Gospels and Acts in her books Hidden in Plain View: Undesigned Coincidences in the Gospels and Acts, The Mirror or the Mask: Liberating the Gospels From Literary Devices, and most recently The Eye of the Beholder: The Gospel of John as Historical Reportage. What God's word, Jesus and the Apostles say about the Bible: The old testament was canonized by the time Jesus came to redeem the relationship lost in the fall. Every time Jesus quotes it, reads it or references it, he affirms its authority. The same goes for Paul, Peter and other New Testament writers. Paul: 1 Corinthians 14:37 If anyone thinks that he is a prophet, or spiritual, he should acknowledge that the things I am writing to you are a command of the Lord. Romans 1:1-32 Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God, which he promised beforehand through his prophets in the holy Scriptures, concerning his Son, who was descended from David according to the flesh and was declared to be the Son of God in power according to the Spirit of holiness by his resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord, through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith for the sake of his name among all the nations, ... 2 Timothy 3:14-17 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work. Romans 9:17 For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, “For this very purpose I have raised you up, that I might show my power in you, and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.” Jesus Luke 24:44 Then He said to them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.” Peter 2 Peter 1:3 His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, 2 Peter 3:16 As [Paul] does in all his letters when he speaks in them of these matters. There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures. Acts 1:16 Brothers, the Scripture had to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spoke beforehand by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who became a guide to those who arrested Jesus. 2 Timothy 3:15 And how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. Luke 24:25-27 And he said to them, “O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken! Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer these things and enter into his glory?” And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself. Romans 15:4 For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. Revelation 22:18-19 I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book, and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.

Marcuss has gone over the Revelation and now wants to speak about the date. The most important issue that confronts the reader of Revelation is the date that it was written. And there are two views: the late date view (AD 95-96), which is the current evangelical opinion and the early date view (AD 65-66). The early date view says that Revelation speaks of the birth pangs of the Kingdom, the beginning of Church history. The late date view allows for a wide variety of interpretations and comes exclusively from external evidence based on a statement made by Irenaeus in the 100's. The safest course and more reliable is to study the Revelation itself to see what internal evidence it presents regarding the date of its writing. Marcuss will do this while asking when was it written? What is the proper approach? And what is its theme? This is all from an early date view and a first-century view of the Revelation which states is all in the past. Leadership Lesson Podcast Season 2 Episode 19 - Studying The Bible Pastor Daniel talks about the importance of studying God’s word, following the example of the Bereans in Acts 17:1, who…received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so. The practice of studying God’s word is essential in growing as a disciple of Jesus. Daniel shares a Bible study tool from Greg Laurie’s book, Start to Follow. It is the 3 Rs: Read: What does God’s word say?; Reflect: What does this teach me about God?; Respond: What will I do with what I just learned? Teaching people to read the Bible is no small matter in a culture where the vast majority of people do not read a book after finishing high school or college. It needs to be taken seriously. If you don’t like to read, ask God to change your heart. Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of your law. Psalm 119:18. A practical message and a great encouragement! QUOTES “We are to be in God’s word, under God’s authority, men and women of the word.” -Daniel Williams “People who want to know God need to learn how to study the Bible, to build their faith.” -Daniel Williams ‘We can go to God’s word and know who He is, and know God’s heart.” -Daniel Williams “The discipline of reading has been lost, but it’s important for us as Christians to know that it’s part of our faith. It’s part of our education to learn what God has said.” -Daniel Williams “The Bible is a supernatural book.” -Daniel Williams “God’s word is the final authority.” -Daniel Williams All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. This is the third episode on 1 John, chapter five, verses 6-12 and its’ called, “Internal Evidence”. As John continues to litigate Jesus’ claim to be the Son of God and the long-awaited Messiah, he will call the Holy Spirit as witness. And because each and every believer in Jesus Christ has the Spirit of God living within him, this testimony is internal, not external. We have living proof, living inside us. The indwelling Spirit of God provides us with daily, irrefutable evidence that Christ was exactly who He claimed to be. His Spirit within us testifies directly to us. As John says, “Whoever believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself” (1 John 5:10). We don’t have to go far. We don’t even have to look outside of ourselves. We have the transformative power of God residing within us. And that could only mean one thing. Jesus was the Son of God and the Savior of the world. And when He promised to give us the Spirit to live within us, He had meant it and delivered on it.

I am deeply indebted to Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones from whom I gleaned the core thoughts in this message. I will never forget the peace and comfort his input brought into my life to stay, so very many years ago. May you be blessed in a similar way by this message before you today.----Danny Bond----Is it possible to know beyond all doubt I am truly born-again and going to heaven when I die-----Yes it is. But beyond all controversy not all Christians have this kind of rock solid assurance. The Bible tells in so many different ways we can know.----This message is an occasion for examination. Which by the way is an extremely healthy thing for us spiritually. Paul made this crystal clear.----2 Cor 13-5 Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith- test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you--unless, of course, you fail the test- -NIV-----In the same epistle Paul wrote this marvelous statement-----2 Cor 5-17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation- old things have passed away- behold, all things have become new.----If this is true of you the examination you go through in this message will be extremely encouraging in a lasting way-----Join us as we take this journey together through the Gospel of John. Evidence for the original text of the New Testament can sometimes be found within the text itself. Dr. Daniel B. Wallace of the Center for the Study of New Testament Manuscripts (CSNTM) discusses how intrinsic evidence that supports a particular reading of the text can be discovered through the literary decisions of an author or the transcriptional editing by copyists and scribes.
The combination of external evidence and internal evidence is used to resolve the textual problem that exists in Revelation 1:4. Dr. Daniel B. Wallace of the Center for the Study of New Testament Manuscripts (CSNTM) uses the basic principles of textual criticism, to choose the reading that best explains the rise of the other(s), to come to the conclusion that the author, John, intentionally made a “grammatical blunder” for the purpose of making allusion to the Old Testament passage of Exodus 3:14.
In this video, the methodology of New Testament textual criticism (NTTC) is applied by Dr. Daniel B. Wallace of the Center for the Study of New Testament Manuscripts (CSNTM) to Matthew 27:16-17. The manuscript evidence is scrutinized and certain principles are applied in the process, such as the dictum that the best reading is the one that best explains the rise of the other readings.
