Well, hey there Skips and Skipperettes from all across the wild and untamed lands known only as Internetland. Welcome back to Tales from the Jungle Cruise. What a long, strange trip it's been. Two years back in the Jungle at Disneyland, and now I've parted ways again with a place that means so much to me. It was a tough decision, and a lot of people had asked me questions about my time back at the park, the state of the podcast, the Jungle Cruise movie, and so many other questions. I invite good friend Skipper Freddy Martin to the podcast to chat about all of that, and to bring us back into the podcast mode. We did put up a 30 minute video of the first part of our recording. We may be doing more recording on video, and I am going to put all 150 episodes of the audio podcast up on YouTube as well. Well, it's great to be back, and it's going to take me a while to ramp back up, but it's a great journey and I'm glad you are taking it with me. Skipper Kyle
One of the great thing about the last 8 years of Skippertainment is that I've been a guest on so many podcasts, sharing my Jungle Cruise stories. One of those great moments was January 2017, and the WDW Happy Hour podcast. Matt and Katherine have become not only great Jungle Cruise supporters, but great friends. We do a lot of cross pollination of our podcasts, and their podcast is one of only 2-3 Disney podcasts that I listen regularly to. They do a great job, have fun discussions, and nice Disney news recaps. Plus, alcohol! So, here's the first part of our two part interview from their show. Originally Published January 10th, 2017 The last few months of 2016 limped past, and 2017 staggered in the door drunk. At least we have a podcast episode to truly celebrate the sort of inebriation that was needed to handle the last 3 months. We are joined by the hosts of the WDW Happy Hour podcast in a cross polination of our shows, and also because Katherine and Matt are two fun guys who I really enjoyed chatting with. They were big supporters of the Jungle Crews podcast last year, and I wanted our audience to get to know them a little bit. We chat Disney remake movies, WDW vs Disneyland, and of course the best places to eat and drink at Disneyland and Walt Disney World. Lots of good fun, and an enjoyable 2 part episode. Thanks for sticking through the dry times. We love you guys. All of you. Except Dave. You know who you are, Dave. Kungaloosh!

We feel bad that we shorted you a podcast last time around. So, we are hooking you up with a very special bonus episode this week! Matt and Katherine got to sit down and talk to our dear friend Skipper Kyle (who has his very own, very-good podcast, Tales From the Jungle Crews). We were eager to talk to Kyle because he has gotten to visit Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge in Disneyland Park multiple times at this point, and we needed to get some fresh impressions of everything there was to see and do. We had a ton of fun with this interview, and we hope you enjoy listening. Cheers, and Kungaloosh! Take a seat at the bar, and follow us on social media! Well, after 2 years, we have a new episode... sort of. I mean, it is new, but it's not strictly a Jungle or interview episode. Hi there, I'm Skipper Kyle, and I'd like to announce the return of Tales from the Jungle Crews. My time with Disney is coming to an end in a few months, and with that, I am able to start producing some new content again. This episode is a in-betweener from Season 6 to Season 7, as I take you through my experiences at the Black Spire Outpost at Galaxy's Edge, and give you some updates about my life, the Jungle, and what to expect in the coming months from the podcast.I'm looking forward to coming back and bringing you some new Skippertainment! Kungaloosh, my friends! Skipper Kyle
So, 3 years ago we did a Kickstarter for a little card game called "Jungle Rummy". We have wound up selling 500 copies, which wasn't bad for our first foray into game design. It still plays well, and I am really happy with how the art turned out. As part of the game, we did a backer reward for a pair of TFJC fans, and they got to share their Jungle memories and be a part of the podcast. It was a lot of fun, and we hope you enjoy... Originally Published March 22nd, 2016 So, if you've been around the podcast for more than a few months, you remember Jungle Rummy, our card game that we did a Kickstarter campaign in the fall. One of the top rewards for pledging was an appearance on this very podcast. So this week we welcome Michael and Grace Steuver, the top supporters of the Jungle Rummy game, and the Jungle Crews podcast. We are thrilled to spend a few moments with them, and to welcome them to our family. The first 6 minutes is a "dummy" episode that we made just to announce the appearance on the show to Grace. So, don't get confused and think that you're coming onto the show as a guest. Unless you want to. Then, give us a yell... We're always happy to have any Skips or ex-Skips on the show.
It's that time of year again... time for the yearly "Republishing of the XMas episode". The TFJC Radio Play Xmas episode is one of the favorite things I've done related to the Jungle Cruise, and it's one of the things I get asked most about. Trevor Kelly and Joey Hurley join me for another dive into the world of the Jungle Cruise and it's Skippers. This is a big XMas tradition celebrating it's 5th anniversary... enjoy, and Hippo Holidays!
Well, 2/3 of the way through our cavalcade of reruns, and we're still putting up the old content for you to listen to. This week we sit down with our very own Skipperette, Jen Chavez. Jen took over the reins of the Jungle Crews podcast and Facebook page when Skipper Kyle went back to Disneyland, and she has done a remarkable job over the last year. She continually finds new vintage photos and content, and has just been amazing. I love her Podcast time, too, so we hope you enjoy... Originally published July 13th, 2015 So, the clock keeps turning, and our fourth year of Skippertainment comes to a close. We had such an amazing year with you all, and our 5th season looks to be even better. New podcasts, new guests, new t-shirts, and some amazing surprises. Thanks, everyone for joining us on this ride. In this week's episode, we sit down and chat with our very own Skipperette Jen Chavez. Jen is our content manager for our Facebook page, and she does an amazing job. Her tale at Jungle has some fun twists and turns, and her views on vintage Disney are great. She also just made her stand-up comedy debut on July 12th (hence the title) and she totally killed. We hope you enjoy her episode, and we'll be back in 2 weeks with the conclusion of her interview.
Well, we come to the end of another season in our recap-a-rama. As we keep moving through the years, this episode is a strange one. It's a recap episode for Season 4, and it is a little bit of me just telling my story. Things are good and busy in the Skipcast world, and there's a lot of interest in the Jungle Cruise movie. (Coming out Oct 11, 2019.) We are super excited for the story that Disney is going to be telling, and everything we have seen is pretty amazing. So, here's an episode for you for today, and I'm hoping you are all enjoying the trips through the past that we've been taking while Skipper Kyle is back at the Jungle Cruise at Disneyland. Originally Published June 30th, 2015 Our 4th year is wrapping up, and we had a busy busy weekend. We met with 120 cm's from the 80's and 90's. We had our Sunday Social at Sam's, and we got to hang out with a bunch of podcast listeners. So, this is a different episode, in the same way the Disney Family Museum episode was. This one is just me. I have been in a lot of discussions lately with people who ask me why I do the podcast, what I get out of it, why the Jungle has stuck with me the way I have, and if I am just an egocentric narcissistic maniac who can't hear enough of his own voice. (For the record, no...) So, as a way of wrapping up the first 4 years of this little experiment in niche podcasting, I just wanted to take 20 minutes and let you know a little about me, why Jungle is such a thing for me, and what the podcast means to me. This may totally not be your thing, and if it isn't, we'll have a new episode in 2 weeks to get you back in the stream and the regular Jungle Crews merriment.
Once upon a time, two great Skipper kingdoms collided, and Skipper David Marley joined us on the Jungle Crews podcast. This was a time before Skipper Stories, back in the hey-day of Skipper Standup. Marvel at the random appearance of Skipper Trevor Kelly. Wonder at the tales of the early 00's. Basically, it's a lot of ooh-ing and aah-ing, is what I am saying. Enjoy this trip back into podcast history! Originally posted May 26th, 2015 Time for more Skippertainment? This week, it's even more entertain-y than usual. We welcome Skipper David Marley to the podcast. Host and driving force behind the Skipper Standup shows, Dr Marley is also a Disneyland historian, having taught classes on the history of the park, as well as being in the process of writing a book on everyone's favorite attraction, the Jungle Cruise. We're excited to have him, and it has been a long time coming.
So, this was a strange episode for me. It was a non-Skipper, from an era that I didn't know, and who was promoting his own project. (which I tried to be very particular when I promoted other people's stuff.) But Trevor Allen is a hell of a guy, and his show "Working for the Mouse" was one of the first one-man shows that I didn't secretly mock in my head while it was going on. He was really fun to chat with, and I was glad he joined the Jungle Crews family. He may not have been a Skip by job, but he was by attitude... > It's SECRET BONUS EPISODE TIME! Ok, so a couple of days ago, I was alerted to a really cool one man show that is premiering in Los Angeles on Friday, April 10th, open until April 19th. I saw a bit of it, and I knew I had to have this guy on the show. It's a bit strange, because he is a non-Skipper, but his spirit is as much at home in the Jungle as it is wherever the costumed characters hang out... The show information is at WorkingForTheMouse.com, and if you are in the LA or Orange County area, I genuinely can endorse this show and recommend that you go see it. Also, today was the launch day of Merchandise From The Jungle Crews. Art that is designed by Skippers, and is for anyone... We start off with 9 t-shirt designs that are a must have for any fashionable fan's collection. The shirts can be found here, at Merchandise From The Jungle Crews. We'll be adding new shirts and products as time goes on. This will help support the podcast, as well, so swing over and take a peek! Thanks, everyone, and we'll see you soon.
Hey Adventurers! Just a few updates as we reach the 2/3 point of our podcast re-run. As soon as this is finished, which is probably sometime in the fall, we are probably going to continue some level of hosting the episodes. Still, we recommend that you download whatever you want to keep for posterity, because we don't know how long they will exist on the internets. With Skipper Kyle back at Disney, it's now a situation where we don't feel like we can create more Jungle Crews content without stepping on his work integrity and causing conflicts. So, enjoy, pass it around and share it, and keep supporting us at our Redbubble Skipper Store, http://JungleCrews.redbubble.com When I started sitting down with my friends and recording our Jungle stories, I never imagined I would some day venture back to the 1970's and hear stories of Disneyland around the Bicentennial and going into the early 80's. This week's episode is the first of two episodes with Skipper Kerry Iannazzo, who graced the docks from 1976-1985. When speaking with all of the other early 80's Skips, every one of them told me I needed to talk to Kerry. Not only does he have a great way with telling stories, but he just is an incredibly nice guy who I would have loved to have worked with. 30 years after he has left the park, and nearly 40 years after he hired in, this guy still has the Jungle Water flowing through his veins. See you guys in 2 weeks for the next part of the interview! Skipper Kyle
This week we're back with a new episode. This one is part 2 of our sit down with Skippers Kevin Hall and Mercedes Cademartori. We chat Jingle Cruise, their favorite guest experiences, celebrity run in's, and the joy of sitting on top of waterfalls. I had a great time chatting with them, and I hope you guys enjoy it too. If you are enjoying your Jungle Crews experience, please share us with your friends. There's cute little "Share" icons at the bottom of our page here. You can also join us on Facebook, at Facebook.com/JungleCrews. It's been a crazy week for the podcast, and I'm very excited about all the interviews we have been able to line up because of our new exposure. No promises, but we might get enough of a catalog that we can go to a weekly publishing schedule. We'll see how it goes. Kungaloosh, everyone! And let us know your thoughts on the podcast... JungleCrews@Gmail.com
Here is the second half of our time chatting with Skipper Chris Egan, and going back to his time at Disneyland's Jungle Cruise. (The following is the original post announcing this episode on July 8th, 2014) Well, we've come to another year, here at the Jungle Crews. (Technically it's August 1st, but there's a reason we're calling this the last episode of the year... read on.) This episode we are back with the second half of our interview with Skipper Chris Egan, a man of two worlds... Disney and Knotts. Each one fighting for survival within him. Which shall win? The world may never know. Anyway, the other reason we're calling this the last episode of the year is that in 2 weeks, we start a 3 part series with a truly amazing gentleman. He was part of Jungle history from 1981 to 2003, and this is a super special chat with someone who means a lot to so many at Jungle. So, join us on July 22nd to find out who will be starting our 4th year telling these stories. Thank you, as always, for being so incredibly supportive. Our numbers are the best they've ever been, and we have such fantastic listeners. If you have any comments you want read on the 4th anniversary show, send us an Email at JungleCrews@gmail.com.
Merry Christmas, Adventurers! I hope your Jungle has Jingle, and that you are enjoying this most happy of seasons. In doing the interviews about the Jungle Crews podcast, I am inevitably asked what episode is my favorite, or what I am proudest of. I know that it's not the thing that sticks out most to people, but we created this series of 8 "Radio Plays" that exist inside the Jungle Crews universe. Skipper Gary London (A thinly veiled tribute to Skipper Gerry York), and his friends got to go on adventures in a Jungle-like world that was brought to life by the voice talents of Skipper Trevor Kelly, Joey Hurley, and a host of supporting characters. We had a great time writing the scripts, but when it came to the Xmas episode, I really feel like we hit a home run. We were able to do the most with the sound effects and editing, and even threw in a bunch of in-jokes and references for our die-hard fans. So, here it is, presented at Xmas for what is likely the last time. I hope everyone enjoys it.
