Disney history. Hilarious puns. Hidden tributes. This library has them ALL. In this final episode in our Jungle Cruise series, we spend some time browsing the bookshelves in the Jungle Navigation Co. LTD. Skipper Canteen with former Imagineer Skipper Kevin Lively as our guide. Not only are these books filled with jokes and references to Disney history & Imagineers, but they also hold many meaningful stories of Kevin's friends & family. These bookshelves are a celebration of all the people who made Adventureland what it is today. So raise a glass with us and toast Kungaloosh! to the Jungle Cruise, and then get out. What were the singing waterfalls of the Jungle Cruise? And what happened to the giant frogs and hornbill? Kungaloosh! In this episode of Distory with Kate & Kirk, we continue our epic journey by moving scene-by-scene through the history of the Jungle Cruise. We discuss why Marc Davis was brought on the project, the birthplace of the concept of "plussing", and the first laugh ever in a Disney park. Two years ago we wrapped up the podcast and season 6 with my looking back over the prior 6 years of Skippertainment. This is the last episode in our "Rerun Recap", which has been going on since I rejoined Disney in 2017. After this I don't have any excuses, and we'll be bringing you new episodes and content soon. Thanks for all the continuing support. It's going to be an exciting year of Jungle Cruise movies and news, and we're going to be bringing you some great stories. Kungaloosh! Skipper Kyle
Corporate Creativity Coach, Conference Speaker, Artist, Author, Playwright, & World Traveler, C. McNair Wilson is also a former Disney Imagineer (Animal Kingdom, Tower of Terror, Street Theater). He’s also Adjunct Faculty at Colorado Christian University and the Chief Encouragement Officer at the Assume Brilliance Group His latest book is Hatch -Brainstorming Secrets of a theme park designer and we are eagerly awaiting the release of the next book in that series. This episode is a far-ranging conversation about the creative process, creators, and the role of creators in organizations.
Hey there, Adventurers! Glad to see you're still aboard, or ashore, or wherever you are. So much stuff to go over. After 2 glorious years back at the Jungle Cruise, my time in a boat is ending. This coming Friday will be my last day with Disney, likely for the last time. That means new episodes are planned and in the works, but it may take me a little bit of time to get traction and get rolling again. Luckily, I have 3 more rerun episodes to go, and that will buy me some time. Thanks for hanging with me for the last 24 months. I know it's been a long wait. Good things are on the horizon. (Oh, and this episode is the second episode with Tony Goldmark, chatting about the state of the parks as of 2 years ago. It's a really good interview, and one I really like...) Originally Published January 30th, 2017 Part two of our chat with YouTube personality Tony Goldmark is here. We really hope you are enjoying his content online, and we start off this episode discussing his RiffTrax/MST3K style take on the Disneyland Opening Ceremonies Broadcast. We are headed to Orlando for the big Skipper Gathering there this weekend, so we'll be in reruns for a few weeks, and coming back at you with new episodes ASAP. Kungaloosh! Skipper Kyle
I'd love to say that after 8 years, I can stick to a weekly schedule, even with reruns, but this last week was a doozie for me. So, here's the second half of my chat with Katherine and Matt from the WDW Happy Hour Podcast Originally Published January 19th, 2017 Hey Adventurers! A little early from us, but never too much good Jungle stuff... We have a lot in the pipeline, so we wanted to put out this episode a little early so we can make sure next Tuesday's episode is good to go before our trip to Orlando. Today is the second half of our chat with the crew from the WDW Happy Hour podcast, Katherine and Matt. These guys are great supporters of the podcast, and their show is a solid show in it's first year. So, we love promoting them, and we thank them for all their help. We continue our discussion about where WDW is currently at, and chat more about tips for our visit. Kungaloosh, everyone!
One of the great thing about the last 8 years of Skippertainment is that I've been a guest on so many podcasts, sharing my Jungle Cruise stories. One of those great moments was January 2017, and the WDW Happy Hour podcast. Matt and Katherine have become not only great Jungle Cruise supporters, but great friends. We do a lot of cross pollination of our podcasts, and their podcast is one of only 2-3 Disney podcasts that I listen regularly to. They do a great job, have fun discussions, and nice Disney news recaps. Plus, alcohol! So, here's the first part of our two part interview from their show. Originally Published January 10th, 2017 The last few months of 2016 limped past, and 2017 staggered in the door drunk. At least we have a podcast episode to truly celebrate the sort of inebriation that was needed to handle the last 3 months. We are joined by the hosts of the WDW Happy Hour podcast in a cross polination of our shows, and also because Katherine and Matt are two fun guys who I really enjoyed chatting with. They were big supporters of the Jungle Crews podcast last year, and I wanted our audience to get to know them a little bit. We chat Disney remake movies, WDW vs Disneyland, and of course the best places to eat and drink at Disneyland and Walt Disney World. Lots of good fun, and an enjoyable 2 part episode. Thanks for sticking through the dry times. We love you guys. All of you. Except Dave. You know who you are, Dave. Kungaloosh!
Here's the part where I go "holy crap, I've known Dave Marley for nearly 17 years...". We're still doing our reruns for the time being until we get all the old episodes out there, but this one is a special one. The author of "Skipper Stories", "Skipper Stories 2, Electric Boogaloo", and "Really, Even More Skipper Stories?" sat down with us to chat about his time at the Jungle, the pantsless life of a Professor, and writing a book about the place we all have grown to love. Originally Published December 9th, 2016 New episodes have returned! This week we sit down with Skipper David Marley, author of the new book "Skipper Stories" to chat about what he learned during his time writing the book about the history of the Jungle and those who have dared to adventure on it. His book is available here, from Amazon. We're continuing to push forward into the new year, and we appreciate all the support. Keep your eyes open, we're still doing a lot of fun stuff in the upcoming months. Kungaloosh!
WDW Happy Hour - News, Brews, Reviews, and Everything Else Disney!
We feel bad that we shorted you a podcast last time around. So, we are hooking you up with a very special bonus episode this week! Matt and Katherine got to sit down and talk to our dear friend Skipper Kyle (who has his very own, very-good podcast, Tales From the Jungle Crews). We were eager to talk to Kyle because he has gotten to visit Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge in Disneyland Park multiple times at this point, and we needed to get some fresh impressions of everything there was to see and do. We had a ton of fun with this interview, and we hope you enjoy listening. Cheers, and Kungaloosh! Take a seat at the bar, and follow us on social media! Well, after 2 years, we have a new episode... sort of. I mean, it is new, but it's not strictly a Jungle or interview episode. Hi there, I'm Skipper Kyle, and I'd like to announce the return of Tales from the Jungle Crews. My time with Disney is coming to an end in a few months, and with that, I am able to start producing some new content again. This episode is a in-betweener from Season 6 to Season 7, as I take you through my experiences at the Black Spire Outpost at Galaxy's Edge, and give you some updates about my life, the Jungle, and what to expect in the coming months from the podcast.I'm looking forward to coming back and bringing you some new Skippertainment! Kungaloosh, my friends! Skipper Kyle
We're down to the last dozen episodes and season 6, then lots of fun new things are in the works. I'm going to be making those announcements as May comes toward a close. I mean, there's nothing else that is happening at Disneyland around the end of the month, right? This episode is probably a little bit inconsequential to the catalog, but I'm including it for completeness. It's a recap of Season 5, details of my trip to Disney Paris, and info on our Kickstarter game "King of the Skippers". Hard to believe that's been 3 years already. Keep on Cruising, friends... and Kungaloosh! Originally Published August 15th, 2016 Hey there, Skips and Skipperettes, Welcome back from our Summer Vacation. We had a fun summer, and we hope you did too. We have a ton of interviews scheduled, but most importantly we have our fall Kickstarter launching on August 26th. King of the Skippers is a fun family friendly party card game for 4-8 people. We have amazing art, and the game is only an incredible $8 per deck. Lots and lots of great information over at Facebook.com/JungleCrews. Check it out, and thanks for your continued support. This episode is a 10 minute recap of our Season 5, as well as updates on my Disneyland Paris visit and details on our Kickstarter. Lots of good info, as we get ready to plunge into Season 6. Skipper Kyle
First of all, there is no episode 18 in season 5. It's an April Fools prank we did, so we didn't want to mess up our numbering system. Skipperette Jen Chavez is one of the best people I know, and she's back at the WFJC. (Seems like we all get brought back into the fold eventually.) She has been instrumental in all of our Facebook content, and has contributed a lot to the podcast. We are so excited to have her around, and this was her second episode on the podcast. Originally Published April 4th, 2016 Hey everyone! We're back with all new Skippertainment. We chat with our very own Skipperette Jen about the Skipper Canteen, stand up comedy, her vacation to WDW, and the passing of beloved Skipper Andy Rinella... It's short, but it helps us catch up with you. Kungaloosh, friends!
Greetings Adventurers, and welcome back to "We're still doing Reruns"... but we're getting ready for the relaunch of new content. Just a lot of life happening as we ramp up and get interviews scheduled. In the mean time, enjoy this rerun of our time with Skipper Rob Ferre. A fantastic WDW Skip with a flair for self promotion and a great bunch of stories about the Orlando rivers. It was a pleasure having him on the show. Originally Published January 12th, 2016 Happy New Year, Adventurers... This year's Winter Hiatus was shorter, and we're back with exciting new content. We have 4 episodes in the bag now, and we keep lining up really great stories for you. So, 2015 was a gigantic year for us. We started with Warren Asa, a Skipper who was there on Day 1 of DIsneyland. Then we had our boost from The Nerdist podcast, which helped us grow our subscriber base, and we saw downloads as high as 40k per day. We had an amazing Kickstarter campaign, and we were able to get Jungle Rummy out into the hands of nearly 400 players. And through that all, we were able to bring you 22 episodes of our podcast. Thank you all for an incredible year. Today's episode starts 2016 out at Walt Disney World in the early 2000's, as Skipper Rob Ferre joins us on the podcast. A contemporary of some of the other WDW Skips we have had on the show, Skipper Rob shares his experiences in the College Program, and some of the challenges of working in Orlando. I love making new friends and opening up my view of the other parks, and this episode is both. See you every other Tuesday for Skippertainment! Kungaloosh!
Yeah, so, apologies in advance for the wack-a-doo audio quality this week. It's like the podcast gods heard we were making cheap knock-offs and decided the sound had to be like that too. Anyway, after some talk about digging in Diggerland, Jim and Scottye set forth back into the Pirate Bay to showcase their very own cheap knock-off attractions. Scottye does what he does best and immediately involves Keanu Reeves, among other celebrities, while Jim travels deep into the mind of a drug-addled hobo. Wasn't he supposed to be the reserved one in this group? Only one episode left until we decide what stays and what goes in VISTA, so keep on listening! KUNGALOOSH!
There was once an anomaly in the natural timeline that enabled people to visit a place that was stuck on the same day in the 1930s. That place was the Adventurers Club, and it was filled with wonders. Kungaloosh!
This week your faithful heroes deal with Scottye's insanity head on as he laid down the challenge of a dinosaur attraction with some rock and roll, or maybe a rock and roll attraction with some dinosaurs. Something like that. Anyway, Scottye takes his song stylings to Jurassic Idol, while Jim sets his course for Amazon dot com. Listen in as Jim steps all over Scottye's lines because he had trouble hearing him during the recording! Be wowed by Scottye's confusion over what exactly the Wonders Of Life is! Bask in our attempts to be competent imagineers each and every week. We thank you for that. Kungaloosh!
WDW Happy Hour - News, Brews, Reviews, and Everything Else Disney!
Greeting to listeners new and old, near and far! Last week, Scott took a trip down to Walt Disney World to participate in the WDW Marathon Weekend. He also got to indulge in some first-time restaurant experiences. While Scott was in Florida, Matt and Katherine were on vacation in Southern California. They dish on their first time staying at the Disneyland Hotel as well as the end of the most recent slates of holiday sights and attractions. Also, let us give a huge shoutout to Skipper Kyle from the Tales from the Jungle Crews podcast. Matt and Katherine got to be guests on the most recent episode, and had an awesome time. Azeroth is being assailed again. Fel fire fills the skies. Gul'dan runs amok anew, and its up to us, Azeroth's Greatest Champions, to scour the Broken Isles, hone our skills, acquire Legendary Weapons and beat the shit out of another Orc troublemaker. In this episode, one of our hosts takes up arms and shares approximately one hours worth of gameplay as he restraps his armor, hits the repair vendor and strikes out to explore Blizzard's latest title release for its World of Warcraft franchise. Our host "Shal" decided to add another channel to our small network of podcasts to share insights on the evolving and changing landscape of the Gaming World and resubscribed for a month to explore Legion (despite misgivings). We had to wait for the "Pally Bubble" to wear off to chain him down and log in. Legion is now live and Blizzard has announced a new patch coming up that will focus on Karazhan (7.1 I think). The recent Hearthstone patch kind of nodded toward an upcoming revamp of another of Burning Crusade era content that resonated well with players at time of release and thereafter. Our host Shal recently solo'd Karazhan again and noted the larger number of players in the vicinity. Karazhan revolves around the Last Guardian of Azeroth, Medivh, and the events that took place surrounding his last apprentice, Khadgar, who is a main protagonist in both the Warlords of Draenor and Legion release(s). Grab your mount, stock up on Kungaloosh and hit the repair vendor: The Stone Turntable pulls Boss in 5, 4..... By the way: SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER Alert!!!! Hi all. It's the week that I've been dreading since the end of June. The Adventurer's Club is closing on Saturday, and there's nothing we can do but enjoy the last few nights. The Bleepin Wife and I will be there every night this week and I'll be posting the best audio that I recorded from each night. There may be repeats of Hooplas or Radiothons, but while the shows are similar, no two shows are ever the same. Hope you enjoy them. It's going to be tough for us to say Good Bye... Kungaloosh!
Kungaloosh Forever! Farewell Adventures, at least for now...
Party hard as we celebrate the amazing Adventurers Club through your calls, stories and maybe even a few surprises...

Meandering Mouse and Meandering Mouse Club TV-(AUDIO and VIDEO) Disney Park Fun
This show begins with the Meandering Minnie and I making a Kungaloosh in the studio to celebrate one heck of a busy week being done with. After our tasty adult beverage, we review Lou Mongello's latest Disney World Trivia book as his publisher was nice enough to provide us podcasters with a free copy. Before the Meandering Minnie leaves the studio, we feature some in park audio of a few cast members we talked to, learn a bit about the Reedy Creek District, and the C.H.I.P. hotline. As I take the mic solo for the remainder of the show, I discuss that special feeling you have when you first arrive at the parks and feature some great park audio of my buddy Quenton and I arriving at the Disneyland Resort for the first time. We walk down Main Street and end our audio meandering with Quenton's first ride on Space Mountain. He had a great time to say the least and you'll hear that in the ride-thru. Next up, we experience the queue at Space Mountain in Florida. I meander through the Star Tunnel and then play the music featured in both the entrance and exit of the attraction since it is some of my favorite music heard at WDW's Magic Kingdom. One of the tracks I stumbled upon was tagged, "Space Mountain - Impressions" and I ask YOU from which Space Mountain the track comes from. To round things out we visit the Space Mountain launch pad where a GOOD FRIEND seems to have gotten stuck in the space capsule which is ready to blast off! Somebody get a wrench and FAST! Last, we read a few listener emails as the last Horizons episode caused my inbox to be slammed with some amazing feedback. Thanks to everyone that has made donations to The Meandering Mouse and The Disney Podcast Network thru the show website! This show was originally recorded on Christmas Eve at the Adventurer's Club at Downtown Disney Pleasure Island. I've been going to the AC as a tradition since 1998 when I first moved to Florida. Our current group of friends and family has been going for four years. Hopefully after listening you'll see why! This is most likely my last Holiday show and I'll be returning to my normal mish mash of randomness next week! Hope you all have a happy New Year... Have fun!
