Nothing like a weekend movie binge back in theatres to get Elizabeth all excited about films again. Especially when the films are the solid storytelling found in Everything, Everywhere All At Once and The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, or the Pedro Pascal movie, as her sister calls it. Josh is joined by a fictionalized version of recurring guest Fred Kolb to explore the Nic Cage-aissance as they talk about "The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent." We found the most “Nicolas Cage” movie of all time, and it's amazing. In The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, Nic Cage plays himself, gets into an adventure with the CIA, and it's about as crazy as you might think. On this episode, we talk about why this movie failed at the box office despite its crazy premise and exceptional execution. We also discuss who is the next Nic Cage, why Nic Cage is crazy in real life, and whether national-security agencies are incompetent, all-powerful, or a little of both. The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent is an absolute joy bomb for fans of Nicolas Cage. Playing a fictionalized version of himself, Cage delivers a top-tier performance. It should remind everyone that, to summarize his character in the film, he never really went anywhere. This is as thoughtful and well written an ode to the long, winding career of Cage could be. He's able to channel his younger self; dive headfirst into the neuroses that defined some of his best work; and, all the while, he's not afraid to laugh at or embrace the more absurd aspects of his acting choices. The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent is a masterclass of comedic storytelling. But, credit where credit is due: This film works as well as it does because Pedro Pascal's Javi is the perfect foil for Cage. Their chemistry is undeniable; they are both having so much fun that the film's title could fittingly be The Unbearable Weight of Massive Charisma. On a budget of just $30 million, it should not be struggling to make its money back; so go see this movie! Like, right now! Come back to the podcast afterward and revel in the love we had for it. Now, sit back, chug a Schneider Aventinus Wheat Doppel underwater, and don't drive on acid! I, the Thunderous Wizard (@WriterTLK), Chumpzilla, Capt. Over the last few years, Nicolas Cage seems to have made a comeback, and today's movie seems to embody everything we love about the actor. Tuning in you'll hear about the setup of this action-packed comedy film in which Nicolas Cage plays himself caught between a super fan (played by Pedro Pascal) and a CIA agent (played by Tiffany Haddish), with plenty of references to some of our favourite Nicolas Cage films. In this episode, we discuss why it's so refreshing to see an actor play himself in this way and not take himself too seriously and how Will Smith could probably benefit from doing something similar in light of the recent incident with Chris Rock. You'll hear about some of our favourite scenes, why the third act fell short, the film's similarity to Tropic Thunder and how the friendship between Nicolas Cage and Javier forms the heart and soul of this film. You'll hear a breakdown of some of the most enjoyable things about this film from the trivia to the intensity of some of the scenes, the character of Nicolas Cage's alter-ego and even a great deal of appreciation for his hairline. To find out why The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent is the perfect tribute to any super fan of Nicolas Cage and which movies you may want to rewatch before you see it, tune in today! Look, we all know Nick Cage in one form or the other. We've seen him as the action hero and portrayed by Andy Sandberg on SNL, but we've never seen him like this. In season 2 episode 13 of Champion Casters, Michael and Joe watch Nicholas Cage transform into. . . Nick Cage in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. Yes, this film is about a romance between a washed up Nick Cage and a charming--as--all--hell Pedro Pascal, but ultimately it's a love letter to Cage's career. Acting is hard. Making a movie is hard--even a bad movie. So when The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent takes aim at Nicholas Cage's movies it feels earnest, unlike some 4th wall--breaking or "nodding" senses of humor. Aside from all of this, the plot of this film is just bananas. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/championcasters/message
We once again welcome Michael Nipp from The Deucecast Movie Show onto the show to review the newest Nicolas Cage movie. GD4AM: 84/100 IMDb: 7.5/10 Metacritic: 67/100 RT: 87% In this action-packed comedy, Nicolas Cage plays Nick Cage, channeling his iconic characters as he's caught between a superfan (Pedro Pascal) and a CIA agent (Tiffany Haddish). This movie is currently in theaters.

Tom Gormican directs and Nicholas Cage stars as….Nicholas Cage, the famous Oscar-winning actor/former movie star who has spent much of the past decade acting prolifically in many smaller movies but still remains a household name. He's struggling to find exciting new work as an actor and decides to take up on the offer of wealthy olive oil tycoon from Spain who pays him $1 million to attend his birthday party on the coast of Spain as a special guest. The olive oil tycoon is Javi played by Pedro Pascal – he is literally THE biggest Nic Cage super-fan you are ever likely to meet and needless to say, the two of them become instant friends. Unfortunately, all might not be as it seems with regards to Javi and his business – the CIA suspects him of foul play and lead by Tiffany Haddish's operative, they need to recruit some one to infiltrate Javi's world to get to the bottom of things…..and yup, guess WHO they recruit to do so?

Make way for Lily Sheen - and also a brand new subseries of Collider Ladies Night called Collider Ladies Night Pre-Party! In an effort to shine an even bigger spotlight on emerging talent, we're expanding the Ladies Night brand to include a series of stripped-down long-form interviews with industry newcomers to give you the opportunity to get to know them, learn more about their first big projects, and to get a sense of their career goals moving forward. No games, no cutaways — just an in-depth conversation focusing on the guest's passion for their craft and future ambitions. And who better to start with than Lily Sheen? Someone who's had a foot in the industry her entire life courtesy of her parents, Kate Beckinsale and Michael Sheen, and is now breaking out on her own with a major role in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. The movie stars Nicolas Cage as a fictional version of himself. Not only is he struggling to find fulfilling work and pay off some serious debt, but Nic is also drifting away from his daughter, Sheen's Addy. He desperately wants to share all of his passions with her, but has a hard time understanding and staying open-minded when she expresses different interests. In an attempt to make progress with one of those challenges, Nic reluctantly accepts a $1 million offer to attend a superfan's (Pedro Pascal) birthday party in Mallorca. However, while there, Nic is shocked to find a kindred spirit who shares his love of storytelling, and also someone who inspires him to prioritize other elements of his life, like his family. With The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent in theaters nationwide, Sheen helped us kick off Collider Ladies Night Pre-Party with a 20-minute conversation covering her journey in the industry thus far. In the action comedy The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent, Nicolas Cage plays a fictionalized Nicolas Cage. This down-on-his-luck version of the actor must get out of a jam after he is offered a million dollars to attend the birthday party of a potentially deadly superfan, played by Pedro Pascal. Also starring Tiffany Haddish, Ike Barinholtz and Sharon Horgan, the movie gets meta as it draws heavily on the Cage's career and long history of eccentric performances.
