How many of us are out there screaming into the void? With so many platforms at our fingertips where we can all spread awareness, share knowledge and be heard, it's easy to fall into the trap of simply making noise rather than making an actual difference. Josh Reid Jones is back for a second chat with me today because he's someone who I look up to greatly when it comes to making a noise ONLY when it makes a difference and generally walking his talk. He's the founder of the Just Be Nice Project and as a social impact professional and social entrepreneur Josh is prolific in sharing content that's not only relevant but a constant reminder about what really matters. We shoot the breeze today around the delivery of hard truths, the benefit of hitting pause on our outrage, the nature of trust and love in our relationships and our lives. Enjoy! If there was one thing you think society should talk more about, what would it be?“Getting help when, where and how you need it for as long as you need it is something I believe we need to talk more about”________So many spend their whole life searching for their reason for being. That elusive ‘thing' that you must do in life - what you live for - your purpose. My guest today is one of those rare beings that found his calling young in life. Josh Reid Jones is an experienced social impact professional and founder of the Just Be Nice Project – working to ensure those in need are supported until they are housed, employed, and have positive mental health outcomes. Josh works tirelessly to change the way people help people, and to create extraordinary positive change in the world, by helping people make ordinary positive change.Josh is real; he's raw; and he's extremely passionate about making real change. I've been following Josh's work for a while now & it was an absolute pleasure to chat to him about this very important topic - please enjoy this wonderful conversation with Josh Reid Jones.____For more information about Josh, check out these places;-Instagram: @joshreidjones @jbnprojectYouTube: Josh Reid JonesLinkedIn: Josh Reid JonesHead to michellejcox.com for more information about the ONE QUESTION podcast, your host or today's guestsConnect with Michelle on Linkedin here:- @MichelleJCoxConnect with Michelle on Instagram here:- @michellejcoxConnect with Michelle on Facebook here - @michellejcoxAND, if you have a burning topic you'd love people to talk more about, or know someone who'd be great to come on the One Question podcast, please get in touch;- hello@michellejcox.com
Hey guys yes we have another episode and on todays episode of the Bailley Runs Podcast I had the privilege of talking to a absolute legend in the field of mental health and also helping those people in need with his business Just Be Nice Project. So on todays episode we got to talk to Josh about his life growing up, his business with helping those people and need and also talked about mental health and bit about politics. So hope you guys enjoy this weeks episode as it was so fun to chat to someone in the world helping and supporting mental health as well as those people in need, besides that hope you guys enjoy this weeks episode and until the next episode.
“Just be nice” - an often used sentiment that can, well, often lack depth. Statements like ‘just be nice” or “don't be a dick” lack any understanding of why someone might or might not be those things. It's the same as saying “eat less if you want to lose weight” - sure, thanks for that, I had somehow missed that food is a major contributing factor to body weight. It has no attempt to understand the behaviour behind it. Everyone knows being nice is a good thing. Everyone knows not to be a dick, not to lie cheat and steal, everyone knows not to fight people for a few potentially hurtful words. Simple statements risk being shallow and hallow. This is why when I had on today's guest I had to put this to him; Josh Reid Jones - Founder of the Just Be Nice Project. In this Episode: Josh is a wonderfully insightful, determined, huge-hearted and nice man. Not to be confused with a ‘Nice Guy' (a differentiation we explore in this episode). In this chat, we dive into the origins of the Just Be Nice idea as well as the organisation that, as Josh states it, is the only one in the world breaking down the real ins and outs of making an impact and helping organisations (and people) work out how to make the most impact in the community. This goes beyond the tired and cliched model of charity - something Josh breaks down in a deeply accurate and wonderfully worded call out of charity style advertising and money-raising model. We explore Josh's take on making an impact in the world, starting with one person. And we look at the pyramid of being nice, starting with ‘being nice' then to ‘being really good at something' to ‘doing good'. This was a fascinating chat in which I really enjoyed diving into the next piece with Josh. I trust you take something valuable away from this episode. Please share it with a man you think could benefit from it also. And if you can prioritise 2 minutes, I ask you to do ME a solid and like and rate and review this podcast on iTunes - it supports us in getting this podcast in front of more everyday men who can benefit from it but don't yet have this information. Josh's bio: Josh Reid Jones is a social impact professional and social entrepreneur. He is the founder of the Just Be Nice project with the aim of changing the way that people help people; until they are housed, employed, and have positive mental health outcomes. Josh has been relentless in his pursuit of creating an environment that ensures people in need get the help that they need, when they need it, for as long as they need it, regardless of how they come to need help. Josh works daily to engage businesses, schools, organisations and communities in the process of creating extraordinary positive change in the world, through making ordinary positive change. Educating and engaging people while managing the resources necessary to ensure that everyone has assistance with housing, employment, and positive mental health outcomes. A non-executive director of one of Tasmania's largest social service providers Colony 47, a member of the board of directors for the Port Phillip EcoCentre, an RUOK Day ambassador and recipient of a range of awards and scholarships for outstanding contributions to social impact and non-profit leadership, Josh is committed to improving and expanding social impact and equality of opportunity both domestically and abroad. A good yarn = the antidote to chaos After a week of vaccine mandates, extended lockdowns, rioting and a big bloody earthquake, I needed to unpack my brain. I enlisted the help of Josh Reid Jones, founder of the Just Be Nice Project (@jbnproject @joshreidjones) and Lachy Wallace, founder of Virtus Performance (@virtusperformance @theexcellencecoach), to help share a quality chat about all the craziness going on in Melbourne and all over Australia. We discuss lockdowns and their purpose and why we have been locked down for so damn long, we discuss vaccines and their purpose, why people resist, why conspiracies are so persuasive, whether vax mandates are a human rights and segregation issue or not, how to debate with friends without losing our friends, who we should be trusting to guide our health related decisions, and much much more. We truly hope this episode can help any person that is on the fence, a little unsure, scared, or just so fucking confused about all of it, we hope that this episode can give you a little more clarity and the confidence to think critically about our current situation and your responsibilities within it.
Enjoy this special bonus episode of the Virtus Podcast in collaboration with the Valor Podcast, with Stuart Cunningham, Josh Reid Jones and Lachie Wallace, having a chat and trying to find some calm amidst the chaos. Just what the doctor ordered, on top of your Covid Vaccine of course. We chat about Vaccines, Earthquakes, Protests and a whole lot more. Stu is the owner of Valor (formerly CrossFit Cranbourne) and Josh is the man behind the Just Be Nice Project and the most articulate PSAs on Instagram

Josh from the Just Be Nice Project is an extraordinary human! He is many things but today we uncover his philosophical views on how we should be helping one another. The Just Be Nice Project redefines what it means to give back and Josh gives us a lesson on how we can effectively give back to our community and how each of us can make an actual impact. This episode shares so much light on why there is such a massive gap between people that want to help and the actual help people need. Josh is incredibly articulate and challenges the status quo. He is also just a great bloke as there are plenty of laughs throughout this episode. Being a part of this episode has truly reshaped the way I will help people in the future and I hope it has the same impact on you as well. A little but about the Just Be Nice Project. BNProject is our mission to improve equality of opportunity. We believe that the best starting point is to ensure that everyone is housed, employed and has good mental health. We believe everyone deserves access to help, regardless of how they come to need it. Regardless if you are 15 or 50 you are unable to make the most of opportunities without being housed, employed and having good mental health. We're for people who want to do good and don’t know where to start. We're for people who have worked hard and developed skills and resources but feel disconnected from their abilities and their ability to do good in the world. We're for people who are dissatisfied with the current paradigm of charity and social help, people who wonder how in a time of prosperity, such as ours, so many people go without. We're for people who want to improve equality of opportunity for everyone. We're for people who are good at things. Because people who are good at things can do more good than people who aren’t good at anything…yet. We're for people who aren’t sure what they are good at and they want to find out. We're for people who need permission to carry on their journey of being good. We don't want organisations and individuals to feel like they need to stop pursuing excellence because it might be seen as selfish, not knowing that their amazing capacity for impact lies on the other side of their excellence. We are here to encourage excellence and then harness it for the largest benefit. We're for people and organisations who don’t simply think that they need to ‘be the change’, but think that they need to ‘be the whole change’. Teaching them that you can be a part of extraordinary impact through making very ordinary positive change… if you do it alongside others. We're for revolutionaries, for people, organisations and communities that believe that a world where extraordinary positive change is possible, just not by going about it the way we’ve been doing it so far.

Josh Reid Jones was frustrated with the inefficiencies of the not for profit space, so he turned it on its head and started Just Be Nice Project - a world-first that matches people who want to give to charities with the organisations that need their specific skills. We can all stand to be more 'disruptive' in our thinking - and it it our greatest frustrations are usually a key to our greatest breakthroughs.
