Listeners of Roll With The Punches that love the show mention: keep up the great, amazing,We ain't playing games here... things get serious when it comes to play. But don't worry, despite the attention-grabbing title I've lured you in with this is a pretty light-hearted and fun chat! I sat down with three generations of play experts from the same fam to unpack how play shapes our brains, our relationships, and even our careers. Dr. Stuart Brown kicks things off with a wild origin story that links a lack of play to violent behavior - mass murder, in fact!! His daughter Lauren and granddaughter Mia bring it full circle with how they’ve lived and breathed this work. We dig into the science, the 8 play personalities, why adults stop having fun, and how that’s messing with our mental health. This chat is fun (as expected), real, and maybe the reminder you didn’t know you needed: play ain't just for kids. It’s fuel for being human. In this ep you're about to hear from the ONLY Australian boxer to have achieved #1 ranking in the world pound for pound! This year (2025) our girl, Diana Prazak, was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame, and given these incredible (and under-celebrated) accolades I'm here to make some noise. Fun fact... Diana was the main event at the first pro boxing fight I attended back in 2014, fighting the tough-as-nails opponent Shotgun Shannon O'Connell (former guest on the show). What a fight! We talked about her unexpected (and late) entry into boxing, her rise to number one in the world, and how she stayed grounded despite getting little recognition from back home. Diana doesn’t hold back. She shared the raw truth about what it took to keep showing up in a sport that gave her everything and nothing at the same time. We got into the reality of being a woman in boxing, what it means to fight through trauma, and how she’s now using her story to help others, especially young people who need it most. This is one for the underdogs, and just the kind of story that inspires the sh*t out of me... I hope you enjoy it just as much. In this ep, I sat down with Rod Owen, and let me tell you, this chat doesn’t pull any punches. Rod’s a former AFL player who opens up in an incredibly raw and powerful way about the abuse he endured as a kid (and in athlete), the addiction that followed him for decades, and how he hit rock bottom and clawed his way back. We talked about his footy days, the drinking culture, the drugs, the attempt he made on his own life, and the long road to recovery... Rod’s now over six years sober, doing the deep work, and using his story to try and make a real difference to a broken system. This one’s heavy, but it’s important. Real, unfiltered, and deeply human. Jem's back and we're shooting the breeze about getting a lil' help from our AI friends... or not, in my case this week since ChatGPT had full-blown meltdown and lost its mind on me. We compare AI relationships to real-life ones, talk about manners in digital conversations, and even chat about giving our AI pals names (like 'Chatters'). Jem shares a gorgeous story about a random connection that led to having massive real-life impact... like hundreds of Indian kids getting their education funded kind of impact. We also talk about learning styles, creativity, and how structured thinking nearly made me want to punch myself in the face. We covered a lot of ground, and some of it went deep, so a heads-up that this episode does touch on mental health struggles. Donna shared her personal story of going from what looked like a successful, 'together' life to a sudden, overwhelming mental health crisis that nearly took her life. What’s wild is how fast it all happened... from a work conflict to suicidal thoughts in the span of just over a week. She talked about the shame, the silence, and the pressures that built up. But also, how she came through the other side (not just once, but twice) and how she’s now using her lived experience to help create healthier, more resilient workplaces. We got into the nuances of resilience, coping strategies, and the stuff that actually helps when you're not okay. Honestly, this episode was an awesome and real coffee-chat in the best way. It’s a reminder that no one’s immune to mental health battles, and that asking for help can literally change the outcome. Donna’s story is one of courage, purpose, and serious self-reflection. I’m really grateful she came on and shared it with so much heart. This one was a banger!! I sat down with a new boxing bestie, Olympic bronze medalist Caitlin Parker, and we got into all the good stuff. From her humble start as a shy kiddo in Taekwondo to breaking barriers in boxing and becoming the first Aussie woman to medal in the sport at the Olympics. Caity is real, hilarious, and totally open about the grind, the pressure, the heartbreak, and the highs that come with elite-level sport. She pulls no punches about making weight, bouncing back from Tokyo, fighting with a broken nose, and learning to actually enjoy the wins. There’s something powerful in the way Caity reflects on her journey without glossing over the tough stuff. Whether you’re a boxing fanatic or just someone chasing big goals, this chat will hit you right in the guts
What starts as a blurry camera and a backwards 'ON AIR' sign (this stuff comes with the territory when working with the great man) quickly tumbles into the kind of deeply human, wildly philosophical rollercoaster that only Bobby Cappuccio can deliver. In this episode, we revisit Man’s Search for Meaning (a book that's shaped us both along the way) and unravel how context, timing, and perspective can change everything. We dive into the evolution of self-help (and how it often misses the mark), the blurred lines between vulnerability and performance, and why telling your story isn’t always the same as sharing your truth. There’s personal reflection, a few unexpected rants, and some punchy (and painful) truths about growth, purpose, and what really matters when life gets hard. If you’ve ever questioned the work you're doing (on yourself or for the world) this on might hit home! My mate Kerryn Vaughan is back and fresh off a soul-stirring trip to Nepal, and wow, strap in because this convo goes everywhere. From being swept off her feet by the energy of the Himalayas to raw moments of anger and conflict that cracked her heart wide open. Kerryn shares the wild beauty of community homestays, being guided by Buddhist artists, sunrise blessings from solo monks, and the kind of encounters that shift your view of the world forever. But it's not all serene mountain tops and mandalas. We dive into some deeply uncomfortable truths too... animal cruelty, religious contradictions, gender dynamics, and that messy space where reverence and rage co-exist. This is travel as it should be. Soul-expanding, perspective-challenging, emotionally unfiltered, and full of heart. You’ll laugh, you’ll feel, and you’ll probably book a flight. It’s that good. Well, strap in, team. Because this one’s an epic! Tammy van Wisse is not your average swimmer... unless your average swimmer has clocked over 65,000km in the water, swum the Bass Strait (yep, the ONLY human ever to do it), broken records in honour of childhood heroes, and oh yeah… has a day named after her in New Jersey. No biggie. But this chat wasn’t just about world records and wild ocean swims. We dove deep into the heart of endurance and what drives someone to keep going when every cell in their body is screaming to stop. Tammy opened up about being the kid no one picked in PE, to becoming a force of nature in open water. She talked about her mindset, her grit, and what happened when life threw her a challenge she didn’t choose (breast cancer). From the Bass Strait to the chemo chair, from saltwater stings to the quiet moments that crack you open… this episode is about resilience in its rawest form. This one was a bloody ripper. I sat down with the legendary Essendon ruckman, Simon Madden - business coach, speaker, and all-round top bloke, and as expected, we covered a hell of a lot more than just footy. We talked about aging without getting old, the art of staying relevant, and what it means to still be growing, pushing, and learning well into your sixties. We shared stories on failure, grit, and the sneaky little power of the word 'yet'. We unpacked identity, purpose after retirement, and why so many people lose themselves when the jersey (or job title) comes off. Simon dropped gold on truth-telling in a world full of noise, the role of care in leadership, and how real resilience isn’t just about bouncing back – it’s about learning to take the hit, then getting up and doing it all again (preferably with a sense of humour and a glass of trusty h2o). Whether you’re a sports tragic, a business owner, or just someone navigating your own “what’s next?” moment, this one’s full of laughs, reflections, and a whole lot of gold. Well… this one punched me right in the heart. And honestly? It still hasn’t let go. Tracie Lund is someone I’ve crossed paths with before. She's nothing short of a powerhouse in her community, someone who speaks up, shows up, and gets sh*t done. But nothing could have prepared me for the conversation we had this time around. Just over one week after we recorded this episode and before bringing this to air, Tracie’s husband Simon passed away. Simon had dedicated 26 years to serving on the front lines with the CFA. But when he was diagnosed with stage 4 oesophageal cancer... a diagnosis that was aggressive, terminal, and fast. The Lund family found themselves not only navigating devastating personal loss, but also uncovering a painful gap in the very system Simon served. Despite working side by side with firefighters, despite breathing the same toxic smoke, despite responding to the same critical incidents, Simon’s role wasn’t recognised under the current presumptive legislation. Which meant no automatic support. No protection. No justice. This conversation is emotional, raw, and powerful. We talk about love, legacy, the brutal reality of terminal illness, and the sheer courage it takes to stand up and speak out when you're already carrying more than anyone should have to. Tracie shows us what it really means to be resilient. Not the neat, polished version. The real, messy, human kind. The kind that keeps fighting when it hurts. The kind that demands change, even in your final days, so no one else has to go through the same thing. Please listen. Please share. Please sign the petition (link in the episode show notes). What IS courage? I’ve been getting increasingly curious... mainly because I talk about it a LOT. I talk about how, when I reflect on ‘young Tiff,’ she thought she was courageous for doing the things that scared other people (while artfully dodging the stuff that really scared her). Solid little facade, really. I talk about how the world seems to throw being fearless and being courageous into the same bucket, when really, they’re just second cousins who rarely show up at the same family function… because if you take fear out of the equation, courage kinda ceases to exist. I talk about all the things I reckon have to come into play to be courageous. And yet, I still wasn’t satisfied with my own understanding of it. So off I went on a bit of a quest… and found Professor Cynthia Pury to help encourage a deeper understanding #SeeWhatIDidThere. Cynthia’s a Professor of Psychology and a pioneer in the study of courage, with her work widely cited across personality and positive psych. Oh, and that thing I used to do? Turns out there’s a name for it. It’s called accolade courage, as opposed to process courage - which is actually doing the scary thing. So there you go. Enjoy! Geez, I thought I'd met some bad eggs in the online dating world... Tracy Hall's experience sure takes the cake though. In 2016 she met Max Tavita online and for the next 18 months they built a seemingly solid relationship with great plans for the future. Until... she woke up one morning to a Crime Stoppers video of him being arrested. Turns out, Max Tavita wasn’t Max Tavita at all. His real name was Hamish McLaren (or Hamish Watson, or Hamish Maxwell pending which day you spoke to him) and he was one of Australia’s most prolific con men. He’d stolen millions from multiple victims and Tracy Hall was his last. Her savings, her trust, her sense of safety, all gone in a blink. We talk about the layers of betrayal, the grief of losing someone who didn’t really exist, the shame, the unraveling of trust - not just in others, but in herself. We unpacked shame and how it isolates us not just from the world, but from ourselves. And how, sometimes, telling the story is the only way to stop shame from tightening its grip. This is one of those conversation that had me feeling like I was watching a movie, rather than speaking to a human about real life... But sometimes that is real life, isn't it? I sat down with Tim Haigh and walked through a life most people couldn’t even stomach watching in a movie. Born into violence, raised in poverty, consumed by addiction, and locked up by 17. Tim didn’t just survive the system, he walked straight through the fire and came out the other side swinging. From gangs to grief, heroin to hope, Tim’s story is gritty, raw, and sobering... literally and metaphorically. It’s about the cost of belonging, the hunger for identity, and the power of owning your own story. This is about scars, not wounds. Ownership, not blame. Mess, not perfection. Dr. Cam McDonald is back in the hot seat and we’re rummaging around in his brilliant PH360 Precision Health brain and talking about those sneaky, silent stressors that pile up in the background of our lives and bodies without us even realising. As we know different environments and different stuff affects different people. Dr. Cam is sharing some gold on why stress isn’t just about work, deadlines or a screaming toddler. Sometimes it’s the bloody cold air, the clutter in your lounge room, the wrong time of day, or that chatty co-worker when you’re not wired for small talk before 9am. It all depends on how you're wired. We unpack the six PH360 health types and how seemingly ‘normal’ stuff (like skipping rest, eating raw food, or exercising too early) can quietly wreak havoc depending on your unique biology. It’s wild. And honestly, so freeing to realise how many of our so-called 'issues' are simply mismatches, not personal failures. Today, I’m sitting down with Dr. Richard Tedeschi, he's the bloke who literally coined the term post-traumatic growth, and ya'll know that's a massive part of what this show is all about! We’re pulling apart what resilience really means (and what it definitely doesn’t), why the ‘just do more hard things’ mantra can actually miss the point, and how sometimes what looks like strength is just unprocessed survival mode. We talk about why real growth usually kicks off when life punches you square in the face... and how it’s the people around you (not the size of the fight) that can change everything. From navigating trauma, grief and burnout to finding purpose and connection this one’s a ripping listen for anyone who's ever been stuck, struggling, or simply ready to step-up from the battleground. Well, this was one of those chats that takes a wild ride... from blind boxing bouts to the blind spots in how we see ourselves and others. We talk about the power of presence, the problem with performative self-help, what real resilience actually is, and why so many of us wait for a crisis to start living with purpose. We go deep on all things from burnout to boundaries, and why sitting on the fence is underrated, and the importance of actually having hard conversations instead of just venting to your mate and sweeping it all under the rug. I’ve been doing a lot of shifting lately. Structuring my time differently. Saying no to things that used to get a default yes. Creating space not just in my calendar, but in my head and heart for things that actually matter to me. In this episode, I sat down with my mate Mark LeBusque and we spoke about all of it. The constant recalibration. The resistance to slowing down. The trap of chasing what we think success should look like. The way we celebrate wins but never interrogate them. We talked about being 15,429 days old and still learning how to be human. How even when you know better, you still forget. Still fall back into the grind. Still need someone to flick you on the ear now and then to wake you up. And somewhere in between the laughs, the deep stuff, and the robot in the corner of Mark’s office… we both found ourselves asking some pretty honest questions. Imagine this… You’re five years old, and the world is at your feet. You’re in the car with your eight-year-old bro, just picked up from childcare by your dad. But your dad has a plan. That plan involves two gas cylinders he’d strategically placed in the back seat earlier that day… and a cigarette. A horrific act of revenge. A father prepared to kill his two sons (and himself) to spite their mother. Not just to rob her of custody, but to take her children from her entirely. Spencer Connelly doesn’t have to imagine this. It’s his life. A life he’s lucky to still be living. That man, his ‘father’ might be released from prison in the next 12 months. Because apparently, such a monstrous act only warranted a little over a decade behind bars. Spencer is now 17. I just recorded a podcast with him after my dad met him at the grocery store and was enamoured by his spirited personality and kind demeanour. This ep I’m hanging out with 21-year-old pocket rocket and Aussie road racing prodigy Tara Morrison... and let me tell you, she ain't just riding motorcycles, she’s rewriting the books. Tara's the only female racer in all three national ASBK (Australian Super Bike Championship) classes, taking on the boys and carving up the track like an absolute legend. From her first time knee-down in her mum’s leathers to breaking records (and bones), this girl's grit is next level. We chat about the sheer physicality of racing, what it's like being a woman in a male-dominated sport, and why falling hard only fuels her fire even more. You’ll hear about her track day evolution, what it takes to compete (a helluva lot), and how one epic win saw her cross the finish line ahead of the 40 blokes, fist in the air and history made. This one’s for anyone who knows that behind every win is a thousand sacrifices, and the ones who go hardest are usually the ones told they shouldn’t even be there. Evolutionary psychologist Bill von Hippel joins me in this ep to pull back the curtain on how our minds got wired, why our ancient instincts still run the show in today's modern world, and what that means for connection, courage, happiness, and that frustrating tug-of-war between who we are and who we think we should be. We talk about what resilience really is (and what it isn’t), how our desire to 'stand out' often leaves us disconnected, and the tricky balance between autonomy and belonging. I ask Bill why we keep doing the (often stupid) things that make us miserable even when we know better, how to outsmart our own brains, and how understanding the wiring beneath the behaviour can start to shift everything. Well, we covered a bit of everything in this one... starting with cats on blankets and bald heads and somehow ending up deep-diving into trauma, identity, post-traumatic growth, and how sometimes our greatest strengths are just cleverly disguised coping mechanisms. Bobby Cappuccio is back, and (as always) he brought his brilliant, curious mind and that beautifully round noggin of his. This banter was like opening the doors of our own minds and rummaging around in the boxes we usually keep tucked away in the back. The difference between resilience and dissociation, the role of autonomy in healing, the impact of energy and environment on who we become, and how experimenting with life (like baking sourdough or moving house AGAIN) can lead to profound self-awareness. Typical of Bobby and I, it's reflective and riddled with paradox... because as humans, we’re often walking contradictions. We want connection but fear vulnerability. We crave change but cling to comfort. We want to stand out and still fit in. If you've ever felt a little bit broken, a little bit different, or like you’re constantly trying to figure out the 'right' way to be… this one’s for you. You know when you hit record with a friend and suddenly the conversation cuts straight through the noise? That’s exactly what happened here with Dr. Jodi Richardson. No agenda. No roadmap. Just two curious minds, a million hats, and a whole lot of real-life chit chat. We talk about the merry-go-round of modern life, what it means to really stop, and why sitting still can sometimes feel harder than the hustle. We unpack the guilt that creeps in when we rest, how to untangle self-worth from productivity, and why fun isn’t a selfish luxury, but a selfless non-negotiable, in fact. Menopause gets a bad rap... and rightly so! But it's not all doom and gloom, in fact, not at all if we can prepare for it and get our bodies thriving at this time of our lives. And as this episode title proudly boasts, with less estrogen comes the wonderful state of less giving a f*$k, which can be quite liberating for us women who have lived our lives giving far too many of them along the way. So, buckle up as we dive into a topic that doesn’t get nearly enough real talk. Menopause. And who better to guide us through it than Angela Counsel, naturopath, menopause coach, and all-around legend in the space? Now, menopause isn’t just hot flushes and mood swings like we can often mistakenly believe... it’s a whole-body, whole-life transition, and Angela’s here to tell us why it doesn’t have to be the horror story we’ve been conditioned to expect. In fact, she’s got a whole different perspective. We get into the nitty-gritty of how hormonal changes impact everything from weight to energy levels to mindset. Angela shares why some women sail through menopause while others hit what feels like a hormonal brick wall, and the surprising role that genetics, lifestyle, and stress play in all of it. If you’re staring down the barrel of menopause, already in the thick of it, or just want to be better prepared, this episode is packed with insight, practical advice, and a whole lot of real talk. Well, I don’t know how we ended up here, but somehow, this episode of Roll With The Punches went deep (maybe too deep) into the intricacies of sleep habits, morning routines, global poo etiquette, and the unexpected life lessons that come from learning new things as an adult. As always when Patrick swoons in our chats are anything but conventional. As we dive headfirst into a topic nobody saw coming - the science of squatting, bidets, and how different cultures approach their bathroom business. Turns out, Patrick has done extensive research into the art of the squat toilet, and I might have just ordered myself a Squatty Potty mid-conversation. Who knew bowel mechanics would be such a hot topic? But it’s not all toilet talk (promise). We also explore something that’s been on my mind a lot lately - learning new things as an adult. I share how I recently picked up the piano (yep, Aussie's most promising concert pianist in the making) and why stepping into a completely unfamiliar world has been both challenging and exhilarating. Patrick, on the other hand, took up singing during COVID and now performs with a choir, proving that it’s never too late to start something new. Tune in, have a laugh, and maybe walk away with a new perspective on learning, mindfulness, and, well… better toilet habits. Dr. Paul Conti is back, and we are getting stuck into the real head stuff. Ever feel like life’s charging ahead while your brain’s still trying to process what the hell just happened? Same. Dr. Conti reckons trauma, identity, and mental health all play a bigger role in that than we realise... And given he's one of the leading experts in trauma and mental health, I'm all ears! We chat about how trauma sneaks in and shapes our thinking, and why so many of us get stuck in identities that don’t even fit us anymore. Turns out, mental health isn’t just about slapping a label on yourself and calling it a day - it’s about actually understanding how your mind works and taking charge of the narrative. We also dive into self-talk (spoiler: yours might be more brutal than you think), why sarcasm and self-deprecating humor can be a sneaky form of self-sabotage, and how changing up your environment can shift your entire perspective. If you’ve ever felt stuck in your own head, trapped in old stories, or just unsure how to shift gears, this one’s for you. SPONSORED BY TESTART FAMILY LAWYERS Website: testartfamilylawyers.com.au DR. Alright, legends, this one’s a ripper. Harps and I go deep on the self-doubt that creeps in even when you’re nailing it, why we sabotage ourselves over the smallest things, and the mental gymnastics of stepping up to the next level. We also talk about those magic moments that remind us we’re actually not crap… even if it takes 700 people in an audience to convince us. Plus, I introduce Harps to a website that might just replace doom-scrolling with polar bears and puppies (ya welcome). Jem Fuller is back, and as usual, he’s firing on all cylinders as we explore the magic of learning, unlearning, and rewiring how we do life. We get stuck into that sneaky little habit so many of us have (well, I sure bloody do) of rushing for no real reason. You know the one… that feeling of "I’ve got so much to do" even when, if you really stopped to think about it, you’re not actually in a hurry? Turns out, that wiring runs deep, and undoing it might just be the secret to a calmer, more intentional life. This is one of those episodes that’ll have you questioning how you move through life, and maybe even changing the way you do things. Or, at the very least, you’ll walk away knowing that if you’re feeling a little stuck, you’re definitely not alone. Four years ago, Nick Reid was on the podcast recovering from a brain tumor, facing a 50/50 survival rate. Now, he’s back... and life has thrown even more brutal punches his way. A marriage breakdown, the devastating reality of parental alienation, and a legal system that makes it near impossible for good dads to stay connected with their kids. We talk resilience, mental health, and what it means to keep showing up when everything feels stacked against you. Today Harps and I are talking all things learning and learning potential.. The 61-year-old PhD candidate and the spontaneous, overnight pianist (that's me, apparently). Ever wondered what it takes to fly straight into danger and make it out the other side? Well, strap in because today’s guest, Kim 'KC' Campbell, knows exactly what that feels like. Kim is a retired US Air Force fighter pilot who spent 24 years defying expectations, leading missions in Iraq and Afghanistan, and navigating some of the most intense situations imaginable. She’s flown over 100 combat missions in the A-10, including one that saw her aircraft severely damaged over Baghdad, forcing her to make a split-second decision that could have meant life or death. We dive deep into that moment, the mental and physical resilience it took to stay in control, and how her training kicked in when everything seemed to be falling apart. Kim shares what it was like growing up with a dream that didn’t seem possible, pushing through barriers in a male-dominated field, and how those lessons in courage, discipline, and leadership have shaped her life ever since. This is a conversation about grit, mindset, and what it really means to face fear head-on. Whether you’re flying high in your career, navigating personal challenges, or just looking for a jolt of inspiration, Kim’s story is one you won’t forget. Ain't many blokes blowing out 101 candles these days, let alone ones as sharp as a tack and as witty as my Pop Cook! Safe to say, this episode is a pretty special one for me (and my family). What a gift to sit down, record his tales, and not only share them with the world but also etch them into history... something we’ll cherish for a lifetime. As we talked, my mind conjured up scenes straight out of an old Netflix series. The kind of stories you read about or see in movies. Back when people traveled by horse and cart, and school was too far away for most kids to attend. Pop grew up on a farm and became a farmer himself. His father fought in WWI, taking shrapnel to the leg, and by the time WWII broke out, Frank (Pop) was just 15, already busy working the land and taking over the farm. He was 32 when television first reached Australia... 32 years without TV! Imagine that. A hard worker, a husband, a father, a grandfather. The epitome of good character and integrity. One hell of a sportsman, and as he’ll tell you himself, at 101, he’s made thousands of friends and not a single enemy. So yeah, I’m pretty damn proud to call him my pop. Hope you enjoy his tales as much as I did! Alright, crew! (see what I did there) Buckle up because today we’re taking off (in a sense) with fighter pilot, leadership powerhouse, and high-performance expert Waldo Waldman. Panic attacks, fear, and all the fun stuff. We’re talking resilience, courage, and what it really takes to push through when every fiber of your being is screaming at you to quit. From the skies to the boxing ring, we unpack why some people thrive under pressure while others crumble, and why the 'never fly solo' philosophy applies to every high-stakes arena, be it combat, business, or life. Patrick Bonello is back and stepping into the conversational ring with me for a tussle on all things life, habits, hacks and games. From the psychology of fighting, to how muscle memory shapes our habits, we break down the unconscious ways our bodies and minds adapt. Patrick takes me down a rabbit hole of juggling, VR gaming, and Tai Chi, while I try to convince him that boxing isn’t just about getting hit in the head (well, mostly). We riff on brain training, human behavior, resilience, and why rock climbing is probably safer than netball. Plus, Patrick flexes his questionable but hilarious voice impression skills, and I leave this convo convinced I need to start juggling balls. It’s a ride. It’s a laugh. Righto team, today’s episode is one for the world of 2025. We’re talking digital well-being, leadership, and AI with the brilliant Bailey Parnell... because let’s be real, tech is changing the way we think, work, and even lead, and not always for the better. Bailey is an expert in how social media and AI impact our mental health, decision-making, and emotional intelligence, and she’s got an insight or two into how we can take back control. We’re unpacking why bad leadership is so damn common (and how AI might actually help), what social media is doing to our ability to think for ourselves, and whether we’re all just running a race we never signed up for in this hyper-connected world. Righto pals, buckle up! Today's episode with Bobby Cappuccio is a whirlwind of banter, life reflections, and the kind of deep dives that make your brain work in the midst of plenty of lols. If you’ve ever found yourself caught between the tension of routine and spontaneity, or wondered why we humans seem to outsmart ourselves when it comes to the simplest things (like listening to your body before it decides to revolt mid-deadlift), you’ll feel seen. We unpack everything from why some environments just light us up to the psychology behind decisions we think we’re making but might actually be on autopilot for. Bobby shares some chaotic tale about Iceland’s Christmas Yule Cat (yep, a cat that eats kids who don’t wear new clothes - I honestly don't know where he gets all this crap from) and takes us on a reflective journey about how connection, environment, and values shape us in ways we often miss. A couple of weeks shy of his 24th year of sobriety (woohoo), Mick Hall is back for another awesome chat about all things boxing, booze, bad decisions, and bloody great ones too. I quiz Mick on the definition of being a 'recovering addict' when he's a whopping 24 years clean and sober, curious of the mentality behind how we define ourselves through change and personal evolution. It’s always a privilege to have Dr. Jeffrey Rediger on the show, and this chat sure did not disappoint. Dr. Jeffrey’s a Harvard-trained physician, researcher, and the author of Cured, who has spent decades exploring the extraordinary link between trauma, spontaneous healing from so-called 'incurable' illnesses, and the mind-body connection. We talk about the power of the nervous system, the role of trauma in shaping who we are, and how healing isn’t just about fixing what's broken - it's about rediscovering the parts of ourselves we’ve tucked away. From navigating complex emotions like shame to understanding the layers of consent and the subtle ways we reenact unhealed wounds, this conversation is raw, real, and transformational. He's one of my favourite guests! Whether you're on a personal healing journey or fascinated by the intersection of science and spirituality, this episode will leave you inspired to dig deeper into your own story. The lad is back... And once Bobby gets his usual cat-related story-telling and analysis is promptly out of the way we knuckle down and talk the quirks of modern tech reliance, reminisce about old-school TV shows (hello, Ally McBeal), and share personal stories about the randomness of life and the joy of letting go. From navigating hierarchy in leadership to my unexpected motorbike karaoke sessions (because 'Hooked on a Feeling' randomly pops into my head every time I ride), this episode is an eclectic mix of deep thought, good questions (or the analysis of how to ask them), laughter, and relatable moments. Brace yourself, because this one’s going to hit you right in the feels. Deb Richardson is back on the mic with me, and if you caught her story the first time she joined me, you’ll know exactly why I couldn’t wait to have her back. Deb’s journey is one of grit, heart, and a level of badassery that’s hard to put into words. Deb was a guest on behalf of The Code 9 Foundation (episode 584) where Deb recounted her days as a member of Victoria Police and being caught up in the Russell Street bombing, however we also learnt about Yuri, the young 11-year-old Ukrainian boy who Deb hosted in 1993. Well, it is fair to say that a pretty special bond was created between Deb and Yuri before Yuri went home. There is much more to this story, so please check out Deb’s first episode. Deb and Yuri lost contact until 2017 where they reconnected, and this contact accelerated after Yuri saw Russian tanks roll into the Ukraine. What transpired was Deb asking what she could do for Yuri and the idea that Deb could knit some teddy bears for the young children who have been displaced, well Deb managed to get 14,000 “Yuri bears” knitted, yes that is correct, 14,000 “Yuri bears”, obviously a quite remarkable achievement. What is more remarkable is the earlier this year, Deb travelled to the Ukraine to deliver the “Yuri bears”. This is her story.
