Det var inte lätt att klara skolan och vardagen, men när hon fick hjälp gick hon från nio IG till toppbetyg och klarade att komma in på gymnasiet. Mycket tack vare en klok mattelärare.De som får en ADHD-diagnos kan ofta bli betraktade som offer. För Mirre är det självklart att hon är lika sexig, cool och smart som alla andra. Men det fanns ett stort mörker också. Det ledde henne till helt fel sällskap, drogberoende och självskadebeteende. Vändpunkten kom när hennes vän Pelle blev mördad för att han var annorlunda. Pelle å andra sidan var på lyxretreat i Österrike där alkoholen bytts ut mot grönsaksbuljong och hälsotester. Camilla sarà così discriminata per la sua disabilità. Discriminati e isolati anche i suoi genitori, colpevoli, secondo i compaesani, di non aver voluto rispettare il volere di Dio e il destino, dando appunto il consenso all'amputazione. Camilla fortunatamente ha un carattere forte e determinato e risponde spesso a tono a chi la discrimina o a chi critica la sua storia d'amore con Felice, uno studente di medicina di una famiglia che si è arricchita. La discriminazione sarà anche quella che subirà lo stesso Felice quando, cacciato dai genitori che si oppongono al matrimonio con Camilla, andrà a lavorare nelle saline in Francia, dove gli italiani sono visti come nemici.
