This week Shag and Rob pay tribute to a friend of the show who passed away just a couple weeks ago, Shawn Engel. From a recording produced in 2014, you'll hear Rob and Shawn discuss a fun team-up story featuring both the Kyle Rayner Green Lantern and Aquaman. Then from a recording just a couple months ago, you'll hear Shag and Shawn discuss their mutual fondness for Kyle Rayner. Shawn Engel was a great guy. He will be missed. Have a question or comment? Happy Halloween, dear listeners, and welcome to a SPOOOOKY episode of Just One of the Guys: A Green Lantern Podcast. Today on this eerie episode, I'm taking a look at issue 137 of Green Lantern with a terrifying tale of...well, a young boy coming to terms with his sexual identity. After an awkward run in with his boss, Kyle Rayner, young Terry Berg comes out as gay...or Kyle figures out he's gay and goes to talk to Terry about why that's not a bad thing at all. So I guess the issue isn't spooky at all, unless you discount the inclusion of Feast art director Andre Choi. But in Green Lantern/Green Lantern #1 there's got to be some spookiness as Kyle Rayner Green Lantern teams up with Alex DeWitt Green Lantern...because in either one's reality the other is dead. So one of them has to be a ghost, or a figment of the other's imagination...or something else weird. Maybe it's not as spooky as I'd like it to be. Oh well. Regardless, unless you want to get yelled at by an effeminate art director for mistaking his sexual orientation, I suggest you grab your mp3 player of choice, download the show, and start to listening!Feedback for this show can be sent to: justoneoftheguyspodcast@gmail.comJust One Of The Guys is a proud member of the Two True Freaks! Greetings podcast listeners, and welcome back to another episode of Just One of the Guys, a Green Lantern podcast. A show that now has significantly less Guy Gardner in it (*SNIFF*). But that doesn't mean I'm only going to be covering one book this time, oh no. In fact, today's story involves Kyle Rayner (Green Lantern) teaming up with Conner Hawke (Green Arrow) in an adventure that mirrors the classic O'Neil/Adams run from the 70's. In the story, Kyle and Conner save a "working girl", make some moves on a small town waitress, and get into some fisticuffs with the local constabulary, all the while searching for Kyle's long lost father, who might just be living in the town the original GL/GA went to in that run. It's all cyclical, my friends. And to aid me in this endeavour, I've brought along podcasting luminary Michael Bailey, host of From Crisis to Crisis: A Superman Podcast, Views From the Longbox, and PADSmash, an Incredible Hulk Podcast, to add to the commentary. We talk about similarities and differences between the run, how smoking hot Paul Pelletier draws his women, and how the town in the second issue really can't exist. Chalk it up to Zero Hour, that's what I always do. So unless you want your sexual orientation awkwardly questioned, I suggest you grab your mp3player of choice, download the show, and get to listening!Feedback for this show can be sent to: justoneoftheguyspodcast@gmail.comJust One Of The Guys is a proud member of the Two True Freaks!
