Lasara Firefox Allen brings work from their April 30 in 30 project (30 poems written in 30 days). These hastily written poems may blow most of the stuff Aaron and Dave brings to the show out of the water in quality, nevertheless the saccharin and specificity within prevents the poems from their true potential. Aaron and Dave learn a lot about the art of writing consistently and looking for one's flow. In a womans lifetime, she will go through several different cycles of beginnings, potential, creation, mastery, and wisdom. Join Lasara Firefox Allen as she explores the nature of these five archetypes, gives examples of what areas of life each presides over, and explores which goddesses fit within each archetype. Jailbreaking the Goddess shows how to begin building relationships with the different archetypes and provides simple rituals for recognition, transition, and invocation. This fivefold model is a new system that embraces the powerful, diverse, and fluid nature of the lived experience of women today.

I'm excited to have Lasara Firefox Allen on the show to discuss her latest book, "Jailbreaking the Goddess." For me, this book couldn't have come at a better time, as I've been pondering the dogma of late that seems to plague feminist spirituality. For instance, as I've mentioned before, I'm disenchanted with the traditional three-fold Goddess model which is outdated, confines a woman's worth to her uterus and is actually based on patriarchal dictates. Lasara's refreshing new paradigm takes "biology" out of Goddess spirituality and gives us a more rounded model known as the "Five-Fold Goddess." Please join us and listen to what Lasara has to say about why we need a new paradigm!
Aired Wednesday, 20 July 2016, 8:00 PM ETIn her ground breaking 1976 book, When God Was a Woman, Merlin Stone evoked a memory of a time, before patriarchal religion, by saying… “For people raised and programmed on the patriarchal religions of today, religions that affect even the most secular aspects of our society, perhaps there remains a lingering, almost innate memory of sacred shrines and temples tended by priestesses who served in the religion of the original supreme deity. In the beginning, people prayed to the Creatress of Life, the Mistress of Heaven. At the very dawn of religion, God was a woman. Do you remember?”In much of the world today, the concept of God as a Woman would at a minimum be considered heresy and in many cultures result in execution. My guest this week, Lasara Firefox Allen, wants us to remember and move beyond mere remembrance. Her new book, Jailbreaking the Goddess, is a revolutionary and radical re-visioning of the feminine divine. A wild hearted change agent, Lasara delivers tools for transformation, provides strategies for embodiment, and creates vibrant spaces for personal and collective liberation. Lasara’s coaching and teaching work weaves together themes of empowerment, embodiment, body positivity, sexual liberation, feminism, and owning our whole selves.
Part 2 of my interview with Jailbreaking the Goddess: A Radical Revisioning of Feminist Spirituality author Lasara Firefox Allen. In this part of the interview we talk a little bit more about some of the faces of the goddess in her new model, and how people have reacted to them, a little bit about how to apply the five-fold goddess model to upcoming Lughnasadh celebrations, and the hexing of the Stanford Rapist. As the North Node transits Virgo during 2016 and some of 2017, the priestess archetype is being activated within the global consciousness. In this episode, I am talking about the meaning of the NN Transiting Virgo (The Priestess) as it relates to the world at large and to you on the individual, personal level. We've seen a lot of violence and chaos this year, and it can be overwhelming if we are not aware of what is truly happening. How will you respond? What can you do to navigate through these choppy times? Listen in for some channeled insights and tips. NOTE: I will be interviewing Lasara Firefox Allen , author of the newly released "Jailbreaking the Goddess" on next week's episode. Big Question: How can I recognize what needs to change? We speak of the divine feminine, but who is she? I know her intimately as Sophia. Others as Shakti, Shekinah, Tara, Holy Spirit, Black Madonna. She has countless names and faces. But at her essence, who is she? Lasara Firefox Allen's new book, Jailbreaking the Goddess: A Radical Revisioning of Feminist Spirituality, probes the divine feminine essence to discover her five characteristics. When we see and love those five faces, we can see and love our own face in Hers!
Thank you for tuning in to The Fat Feminist Witch Podcast! This week I had the opportunity to interview author Lasar Firefox Allen about Jailbreaking the Goddess: A Radical Revisioning of Feminist Spirituality which launches today, July 8th! In part 1 we discuss how Lasara is feeling about the launch and how to deal with haters as a feminist personality, trans exclusionary pagans and pagan spaces and gender identity*, cultural appropriation and ethical practices for pagan events and ritual. Be sure to also check out my review of Jailbreaking the Goddess over on my blog, and pick up a copy from Llewellyn, Amazon, and at your local metaphysical shops! Part 2 will be out next week, Friday July 15th and I fully expect you to have read the book in the mean time. You can learn more about David's story here.
In this bonus episode, Lasara Firefox Allen and I discuss her upcoming book which is tentatively titled “The Five-Fold Goddess,” which reconstructs the phases of the Goddess to move away from the more body-centered lore of Maiden, Mother, and Crone. Is the feminine divine, as most Pagan traditions practice it outdated? Why do some groups who claim a feminism that is meant to make us more than our bodies cling to rituals that are based on the uterus? Why does our society assume these roles of women when there are many examples of exceptions to the rule? What does this say about our societal attitudes about a woman’s (cis-, trans-, or otherwise) bodily sovereignty? Lasara Firefox Allen is the author of the internationally published bestseller, Sexy Witch (Llewellyn Worldwide, 2005), The Pussy Poems (Treasure Finder Press, 2012), and numerous anthologies. She is currently working on her second book for Llewellyn, with the working title of “The Fivefold Goddess.” Lasara is also a clergy member, teacher, coach, and activist. She offers workshops on topics ranging from parenting, to relationships and intimacy, sexuality, body image, feminism, and devotional love, spirituality, and Mysticism. Lasara offers one-to-one and group coaching, spiritual guidance, and intuitive, transformational tarot readings. She regularly offers in-person workshops on the festival and conference circuit, and ongoing web-based courses. Married to the love of her life, Robert Allen, and mother to two amazing kids, Lasara and her family live in the wilds of Northern California and surround themselves with a community of loving, like-minded souls.
