The book: https://agitpress.net/books/p/a-thousand-little-machinesDigitised copies of A/traverso: https://archive.leftove.rs/documents/grid/title/A/traversoIn 1977 youth revolts spectacular in their intensity, creativity and violence would send shockwaves throughout Italian society. These rebellions, belonging to the autonomia movement, were characterised by a mass refusal of wage-labour and powered by novel experiments in communication, in particular the printed word. Hundreds of revolutionary newspapers known as ‘movement sheets' would circulate Italy during those years, acting as little machines to produce political subjectivity. This book contains the recollections of the autonomist militant, philosopher and media theorist Franco ‘Bifo' Berardi on autonomia and the tumultuous events of '77, told through the pages of A/traverso, the Bolognese movement sheet he produced with others between 1975 - 1981. In texts translated into English for the first time, presented alongside extensive archival material and stunning photographs, this book explores the subversion, exuberance and joy of the movement of '77, while raising important questions about the role of creative collectivity and experimental communication for militants today.Support Zer0 Books and Repeater Media on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/zer0repeaterSubscribe: https://www.patreon.com/zer0repeaterFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/ZeroBooks/Twitter: https://twitter.com/zer0books, https://twitter.com/RepeaterBooks-----Other links:Check out the projects of some of the new contributors to Zer0 Books:Acid HorizonPatreon: https://www.patreon.com/acidhorizonpodcastYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/acidhorizonMerch: crit-drip.comThe Philosopher's Tarot from Repeater Books: https://repeaterbooks.com/product/the-philosophers-tarot/The Horror VanguardApple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/horror-vanguard/id1445594437Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/horrorvanguardBuddies Without OrgansApple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/buddies-without-organs/id1543289939Website: https://buddieswithout.org/Xenogothic: https://xenogothic.com/

Cities and Memory - remixing the sounds of the world

"My grandmother used to have an old sewing machine. The ones that were like this kind of wooden furniture. When I was a child I used to play with it without having any relevant knowledge. When my grandmother was working on that machine, the sound used to fill up the old house and was massive to my ears back then. It was so interesting the fact that when you listened to the machine from the room below, you could identify a continuous drone, besides the rhythmic mechanic sound. This is the feeling I wanted to recreate with the track I did. "I used the original recording at the opening of the track, and then I continued using it through a modular synth, combining it with synthesizer sounds that resembled the drone I was listening to back then at my grandmother's house." Composition by Savvas Metaxas.  This is part of the Obsolete Sounds project, the world's biggest collection of disappearing sounds and sounds that have become extinct – remixed and reimagined to create a brand new form of listening. On this episode of the world famous Sofa King Podcast, we talk about a topic near and dear to Brent's heart—Bees. We all know he thinks bees are robots, but why? It may be because of a crazy “Waggle Dance” they perform to communicate where food is. This dance has been repeated by actual robots to talk to bee colonies, by the way. From queens to drones to soldiers, bees are fascinating. They have a strange social life and an even stranger sex life. Bees are also vanishing in America due to Colony Collapse Disorder. Give this one a listen if you want to hear us drop some science about the most unique and important species in your backyard.   Visit Our Sources: https://www.nwf.org/Educational-Resources/Wildlife-Guide/Invertebrates/Bees https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bee https://www.wwf.org.uk/learn/fascinating-facts/bees https://www.newscientist.com/definition/bees/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colony_collapse_disorder https://www.newscientist.com/question/bees-make-honey/ https://www.thoughtco.com/how-honey-bees-communicate-1968098 http://berlinbiorobotics.blog/projects/robobee/

DCF (aka David Charles Fischer fka Prince Caspian) is a pop artist who sometimes sings, sometimes sorta raps. He also writes for other artists. He's very connected in the Toronto music scene. Rapper Jazz Cartier is a former roommate. Electropop superstar Lights is an older sister type bud. Nate Motte from party rap band 3OH!3 is a writing partner. I hung out with DCF backstage when he came to Vancouver on his first bus tour. He was opening for Lights. Backstage at the Vogue Theatre, we hung out in Lights dressing room while she was at a VIP meet and greet. DCF was incredibly chill considering he was about to go onstage and open for Lights insanely dedicated fans. DCF is signed to Last Gang Records (which is owned by international juggernaut Entertainment One Music). He was set to release his debut record in 2018 tentatively titled High School Forever. That record didn't come out this year. But you should be on the lookout for this guy, either onstage or writing for your favorite pop superstars, you'll be hearing from DCF! What does DCF do to get ready to go on stage? Why did he write a song named after actor/singer Sky Ferreira? Did DCF once break up with someone by text? What's it like writing with Nathaniel Motte (from party rap band 3OH!3)? What does Nate tell DCF not to do if he wants to be popular on a bus tour? Which DCF song was inspired by (former roommate) Jazz Cartier's "Red Alert"? Which song did DCF write for someone else and then decide to keep for himself (after listening it 16 times)? Which pop vocalist does DCF want to write for? Which Wu-Tang song did DCF hear first? Which Lights song is DCF's favorite? Which DCF song is about him being catfished? Which songs from his youth will he torture his kids with in the future? You'll have to listen to find out! Tracks played on the podcast edition of the show... 1) DCF, single (2017) "Sky Ferreira (Looks Like I'm Going To Have To Break That Promise)" 2) DCF, unreleased "Bring a Friend" 3) DCF, Pop Songs EP (2014) "John Cuzak" 4) Lights, Little Machines (2014) "Muscle Memory" 5) DCF, unreleased "One Time" 6) DCF, unreleased "Three Steps (To Leave Your Mans)" ALL songs CANCON

Lights is back with her third full-length offering, Little Machines - a gleaming, groundbreaking, generously tuneful slab of brightly hued 21st-century techno-pop brimming with songs so immediate and timelessly pure of heart that they feel like old friends on delivery. We catch up with the singer to talk about her latest release and some of the things she's got on the go surrounding its release. We also have Amos the Transparent and the Luke Austin Band on the show. The former is dropping their LP, This Cold Escape, on Oct. 7th. The record is dubbed as a "loosely biographical rock opera" by the band, and it is one of the group’s most accessible and emotionally-bare releases to date. As for the Luke Austin Band, they've been earning accolades for their rowdy alt-rock sound with the kind of intensity and harmony that reminds people of musicians like Bruce Springsteen, Kings Of Leon, and The Killers. They've got an upcoming EP that will feature the hit "Long Road Home."
