Portable 6-Camera Switcher? Telycam Mix One Hands-On

Make a Logo on Fiverr Telycam's Mix One looks like the kind of production tool built for creators who need to move fast, pack light and still run a serious multi-camera show. Shown at NAB 2026, the Telycam Mix One combines a video switcher, touchscreen control surface and PTZ joystick into one portable unit aimed at live streamers, event producers, houses of worship, schools and mobile sports crews. The big headline: this is a six camera switcher that does not need a full rack of gear to get started. A Compact Switcher Built for Mobile Production The Telycam Mix One is designed as an all-in-one production console. Instead of carrying a separate switcher, PTZ controller and streaming encoder, this device puts those tools into a single portable box. That matters if you are producing basketball games, football games, presentations, interviews or live events where setup time is limited. The form factor is small enough to fit into a Pelican-style case, making it a practical option for creators who need to get in, connect cameras, produce the show and move on. Six Camera Inputs in One Box The Mix One supports up to six sources, giving producers a lot of flexibility for a portable system. The unit includes two HDMI inputs, two USB inputs and support for network-based video options including SRT, RTMP and NDI-HX3. That gives the Telycam Switcher room to handle traditional cameras, USB video sources and IP-based production workflows. For smaller productions, six cameras is more than enough to cover a wide shot, close-up, scoreboard, host camera, roaming angle and presentation feed. Touchscreen Control With Preview and Program The touchscreen is one of the Mix One's most useful features. You can control the switcher directly from the display using a finger or stylus, with preview and program areas visible on the screen. That makes it easier to see what is ready to go live before switching it to the main output. It also keeps the workflow familiar for anyone who has used a traditional video switcher, while still making the whole system feel more modern and compact. Built-In PTZ Joystick Control The integrated joystick is a major advantage for PTZ camera users. With the joystick, you can move a camera around, adjust framing and control shots from the same device used to switch the show. One smart detail is that PTZ control is tied to the preview side, not the live program feed. That means you can line up your next camera shot before sending it live, helping avoid awkward camera moves being seen by the audience. Streaming and Output Options The Mix One also includes streaming tools, with options for RTMP, SRT and NDI workflows. That gives users multiple ways to send a production out to streaming platforms, remote destinations or network-based video systems. On the back, the unit includes HDMI program outputs, USB connections, XLR microphone input, line in, line out and dual LAN ports. The dual network ports are useful for failover or production setups that need more reliable connectivity. The Mix One can also run on PoE, which reduces the amount of power gear needed on location. For mobile production, fewer cables and fewer power bricks can make a big difference. Computer Companion App Telycam also offers a companion app for computer control. That means the Mix One can be placed off to the side while an operator controls the production from a PC. That flexibility could be useful in venues where the switcher needs to stay near the cameras or network connections, but the producer wants to operate from a more comfortable position. Price and Availability The Telycam Mix One is expected to launch in June with a price of $1,999. For a portable production system that combines a six camera switcher, PTZ joystick, touchscreen interface, streaming tools and multiple input types, that price puts it in an interesting spot for creators and small production teams who want a compact live workflow without building out a larger control rig. First Impression The Telycam Mix One feels like a practical tool for real-world productions. It is not just a switcher. It is a portable control center for multi-camera live video, especially if your workflow already includes PTZ cameras and network-based video. For creators producing sports, events, presentations or on-location streams, this could be a strong all-in-one option. The portability, six-source support, built-in joystick and streaming features make the Telycam mix one worth watching as it gets closer to release. Switcher.ie reveals Ireland's most affordable places for first time buyers as deposit saving time soars

Irish Tech News Audio Articles

The latest research by Switcher.ie has revealed the most affordable places for first-time buyers in Ireland. Our First Time Buyer Affordability Index 2026 shows the least and most attainable areas for joint buyers and sole buyers based on how long it would take to save for a deposit in each region. For housebuyers starting to save this year, our calculations estimate that gathering a deposit could take longer than in previous years. This is due to people saving less and property price rises of typically around 7% throughout 2025, although projections will change year on year due to market and seasonal fluctuations. The average time it takes for a couple to save for a mortgage deposit in Ireland is 7 years 2 months, up from 4 years 7 months last year. Cork, Galway and Meath first-time buyers see deposit saving times almost double. Longford is the most affordable place for first-time buyers, taking 2 years, 3 months to save for a deposit – up from one year, 7 months in 2025. Dún Laoghaire is the least affordable place and could take up to 21 years, 3 months to raise a down payment, which is similar to last year. Roscommon is most affordable for sole buyers. Saving for a deposit takes 3 years, 5 months. Whereas in Dún Laoghaire it could take a staggering 66 years, 5 months. Longford, Leitrim, Donegal, Roscommon, Mayo, Cavan, Clare, Limerick City, Offaly and Monaghan are the 10 most affordable regions. Dún Laoghaire, South Dublin, Galway City, Louth, Wicklow, Fingal, Dublin City, Meath, Kildare, and Cork County are the 10 least affordable places. 65% of Ireland's new builds were completed in the 10 most expensive regions during 2025, while the cheapest 10 areas only attracted 11% of new dwellings. This disadvantages first-time buyers who need to use Help to Buy schemes. Find out how your region ranks and see the full Index at Ireland's most affordable places for first time buyers. * Deposit saving calculations are based on median annual earnings, median property prices and household savings rates from the Central Statistics Office (CSO). For Joint Buyers Top 5 most affordable places for joint buyers Longford was the most affordable place for joint first-time buyers for the third year running. One of the cheapest places to buy a house, it would take just 2.3 years to save the minimum 10% deposit. Leitrim, Donegal, Mayo, and Roscommon joined Longford in the top five most affordable counties for home buyers. To save a deposit in the shortest time, buyers should look to one of these counties or others at the top of our Affordability Index. Couples earning the average salary in Leitrim could save for a mortgage deposit in two years and four months, in Donegal, Roscommon or Mayo, it could take two years and five months. Our research showed that the most affordable places for first-time buyers were not necessarily the areas with the lowest house prices. Irish households could be €600 out of pocket from annual price rises on broadband and mobile

Irish Tech News Audio Articles

Millions of mobile, broadband, and TV customers will once again see their bills rise from 1 April due to annual price rises from some of Ireland's biggest telecom providers. The move toward 'annual' price increases began in 2022, with telecom providers using an inflation-linked formula to set yearly price rises. This has meant that households have seen the cost of their broadband and mobile plans soar by hundreds of euros over the last four years. Although inflation-linked pricing is being replaced with an annual flat-rate rise for newer customers (after mounting concerns from Comreg), these mid-term hikes can still cause a price shock. The changes to monthly bills may seem small, but the cumulative cost over multiple years can really add up – especially for households with more than one contract on the go. So what do the price rises mean for customers? Based on a typical family with 1 SIM-only contract, 1 Bill Pay contract, and a 1GB broadband & TV bundle, the increase since 2023 could have amounted to over €600 if they had stuck with the same supplier and hadn't switched when their contract ended. To combat this year's hikes, Switcher.ie has put together some money-saving tips on how to futureproof against annual price rises and cut your costs. 1. Switch to another discounted plan when your contract ends Plan ahead and start your broadband bargain hunt before your contract ends. Use comparison websites with an eircode checker to quickly find the cheapest options in your location. Ensure you factor in the price after the promotional period, as well as crucial features such as speed, contract duration, and any rewards or perks. 1. Bundle your broadband, TV & mobile Combine your broadband, TV and mobile services into a single package to reduce your monthly expenses. Many Irish households rely on streaming services like NOW and Netflix for sports and entertainment. Bundling broadband & TV, and adding your mobile SIM-only plan can lead to significant savings compared to individual plans. 1. Haggle for a better deal If you really don't want to leave your current provider, tell them you're thinking of leaving before jumping, and they may just pull out all the stops to keep you. Use comparison sites to find cheaper options and ask for a price match. You might get a lower price, but it's not guaranteed. 1. Switch to SIM only Save money with a SIM-only deal. If your phone contract is up and you're still happy with your phone, shop around for the cheapest SIM-only plan and try the smaller, no frills providers (they use the same networks as the bigger brands). Unlike bill-pay contracts, which include the cost of a new device, SIM-only deals just charge for calls, texts, and data, offering huge savings and flexible, shorter contracts. Eoin Clarke, Telecoms Expert at Switcher.ie comments: "Households will face a bundle of price hikes on April Fools' Day. Once again, some telecom giants are pushing up prices, with a few SIM-only contracts surging by over 15%. This year, more providers have moved towards a flat rate annual increase, which means that customers know what to expect – but it doesn't necessarily make it less costly. SIM-only customers could be stumping up an extra €2.50 per month, even on budget plans, due to flat-rate annual price rises. Even if your monthly price rise seems small, if you have several contracts running and you haven't switched over the last 3 or 4 years, you may now be paying up to 30% more than you did in 2023 just to keep in touch with friends and family, surf the internet or stream TV. The good news is that providers are, as ever, jostling for new customers, leading to some healthy discounts, welcome credits and great perks. Our advice is – don't delay and switch providers when your contract ends. The best deals are always offered to newcomers, so take advantage of any introductory discounts and bill credits. If peace of mind is more important or you're not keen on switching too often, remember: the cheap...

Send us a textHave you ever caught yourself becoming a different person depending on who you're around? That's the heart of what I'm exploring in this raw, unfiltered conversation about identity, purpose, and the exhausting work of being everyone except yourself. After nearly 15 years serving in the military, the end of my marriage, and a dramatic shift in my financial situation, I found myself stripped of all the external factors that had defined me. Without these anchors, I was forced to confront an unsettling question: Who am I when I'm not performing for others? This episode takes you through my personal journey of code-switching and shape-shifting – how I became an expert at reading rooms and becoming whoever I needed to be in any given environment. While this chameleon-like ability helped me achieve certain goals, it ultimately led me down paths that weren't meant for me.The consequences became physical. Anxiety attacks in situations where I once felt comfortable. A profound sense of purposelessness when clear objectives disappeared. The painful realization that I had invested my identity in everyone except myself. I'm learning that being what I call "culturally inappropriate" – authentically myself regardless of expectations – is both terrifying and necessary. This isn't about selfishness; it's about alignment with your authentic self and divine purpose. When we stop walking paths laid out by parents, spouses, friends or society and courageously forge our own, something remarkable happens: we find our true selves.Whether you're questioning your own identity or feeling trapped by others' expectations, this episode offers a companion in that struggle. Join me in embracing the messy, beautiful work of becoming who we're truly meant to be. Have you been walking someone else's path instead of your own?Support the show

6 Tips to Combat Sunshine Scams and Spot Holiday Ripoffs

Irish Tech News Audio Articles

Play Episode Listen Later Jul 2, 2025 5:34

Planning your holidays or busy packing your bags? Be aware that scammers are also busy planning to trick you out of your hard-earned cash. From fake websites to dodgy deals, here's how to spot and avoid common holiday ripoffs. Watch out for copycat travel firms The internet is rife with copycat airlines and bogus holiday firms. These fraudsters create cloned websites that mimic official logos and branding, making them look like the real deal. Travel tip: Always check that the URL and logo match the official website exactly. Verify contact details, and if something feels off, trust your gut. While the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) sign should protect your holiday, scammers can use fake licence numbers. If in doubt, visit IAA.ie to verify the company. Beware of fake tours and activities Imagine paying for an action-packed tour or exciting excursion only to find it doesn't exist. Scam operators often advertise or tout non-existent activities or trips. Travel tip: Before paying, check out verified reviews from other travellers. Be wary of red flags like poorly spelt ads, blurry images, or "limited-time offers." Never feel pressured to make an on-the-spot decision if you're approached on the street. Take their details, research, and only commit when you're ready. Don't fall under the influence Your social media feeds - Facebook, X, TikTok, and Instagram - are prime hunting grounds for scammers to lure sunseekers. Slick ads can spoof airlines or hotels, enticing you with quick and easy getaways that are simply too good to be true. You might even receive fake confirmation emails or booking references. Travel tip: Always check the authenticity of the profile promoting the deal and don't get drawn in by sham influencers. The golden rule is to book flights and hotels directly through the official websites. Only part with your money once you're 100% sure it's legit. Don't be duped by bogus government websites Despite warnings, counterfeit websites designed to mimic government bodies continue to trick consumers into paying hefty service fees for things like renewing passports or obtaining free EHIC cards. Travel tip: Double-check that it's an official government website before entering personal details or payment information, and be on the lookout for last-minute hidden costs. Legitimate government services are upfront about their fees. Avoid airport parking rouges Airport parking can significantly increase holiday costs, making cheap deals very tempting. But beware, some airport parking rogues promise to keep your car safe and secure, when the reality can be quite different. You may even return home to find your car damaged, dirty, or with added mileage. Travel tip: Research thoroughly and book well in advance with a reputable parking firm. Read and verify recent reviews from other customers to ensure your car will be in safe hands while you're away. Guard against car hire scams Hiring a car or scooter online or abroad offers freedom, but it also paves the way for fraudsters. You could end up paying for damage you didn't cause or extras you didn't need. Travel tip: Before signing any documents or driving away, scour the paperwork and take photos of the vehicle from all angles, noting any existing scratches or damage. Consider purchasing cheaper car hire excess cover from a separate insurer before you travel - it can save you a huge amount if something goes wrong. Eoin Clarke, Commercial Director at Switcher.ie comments: "By staying vigilant and following these tips, you can outsmart the scammers and ensure your well-deserved holiday is filled with happy memories, not financial headaches. Sadly, fraudsters are all too ready to take advantage of sun-seekers, who become easy targets for scams and ripoffs, especially once they relax and let their guard down. Before you spend money on your holidays, thoroughly research travel websites, tour operators, and parking firms. Read company reviews and scrutinise the small print to avoid being du...
