Dr. Christoph Sorg is  a social scientist at the Humboldt University of Berlin. He researches theories of capitalism and post-capitalism and the new debate on economic planning in times of digitalization and the climate crisis.During the interview we spoke about his work around understanding economic planning and his recent publication Finance as a form of economic planning. How in the world is anyone meant to derive the "real" value of a crypto token? Especially in THIS market?? I spoke to Vasily Sumanov, founder of Valueverse and inventor of the Token Value Capture Mechanism Framework to share how he sees it. Valueverse is a utility-centric token tracker that helps you understand the demand-side pressures for token value. Part of the neoliberal ideological turn which has also continued into crypto token releases is an over-focus on supply side economics (problematic).  We discussed token engineering as a discipline in need of an improvement, the most common mistakes people make when designing tokens, and how the VCM framework helps cut through the noise. Brian Hioe is a Taipei-based writer, editor, translator, activist, and DJ who is best known for his journalism regarding Taiwan's social and political landscape. In Thailand I spoke to Florian Glatz, probably the first crypto focused lawyer in Europe and possible the world and co-founder of Common Ground, an on-chain social network. Florian also helped author some part of the MiCA legislation in the EU which lays out the legal framework for cryptocurrences.We spoke about his experiences in the early days of the ICO boom, the unpreparedness of the legal system for crypto, and how Common Ground is leading the way for fairer ways to do ICOs. Jack talks to author Toby Manning (@TobyManning) about his new book Mixing Pop and Politics: A Marxist History of Popular Music, out now from Repeater Books. I spoke to Eric Alston again! Eric is a professor at University of Colorado and recently completed a fellowship with the Summer of Protocols studying the governance of killswitches. His report is titled "Killswitch Protocols: Or On Engineering Recursive System Death" and co-authored with Seth Killian and Garrette David.During the interview we discussed the history of killswitches, the many ways they can be governed and the implications of the governance system they lie in like in blockchain governance. But killswitches are not just about complex technical systems but also social ones, and so we also take a look at killswitches in complex social systems like labor strikes as an example and how they are governed.
