Lliana Bird is a writer, broadcaster and co-founder of the charity Choose Love. She describes herself as a butterfly flitting from flower to flower. She was also the longest employed female DJ - for 16 years - at Xfm and then Radio X as it is now called.Lliana and her partner Noel Fielding have two girls, Dali and Iggy, aged 2 and 4, and Lliana told me how their house might be described as over-stimulating by some, with constant music, curated mostly by Noel but increasingly by the children, and with art being created on giant canvases in the kitchen, with paint splats everywhere.Lliana's first children's book ‘Baboo the unusual Bee' has just come out in paperback. She revealed that she actually wrote it while breastfeeding and she's now working on the stage show version of it.As my mum would say: "She's no slouch"!Spinning Plates is presented by Sophie Ellis-Bextor, produced by Claire Jones and post-production by Richard Jones. How is having ADHD like being a butterfly? Why are women still being defined by what their husbands do? And do sharks really love heavy metal? Helping us to answer all these questions is the awesome Lliana Bird! She tells us about her children's book, Baboo the Unusual Bee, which she wrote while breastfeeding. We share our memories of being new mums, and reveal the advice we wish we'd had back in the day. Lliana talks about her shock at discovering that women's pages are disappearing from wikipedia, thanks to some good old fashioned misogyny. We also have a good old chinwag about everything from her time as Xfm's longest serving woman DJ to female friendship, the mental load, and why mice sing when they want a shag. Baboo the Unusual Bee is out now. Follow Lliana on Instagram @llianabird. *WE ARE ON TOUR!* Very soon we're coming to Blackburn, Tenbury Wells, Newport, Norwich, East Grinstead... Episode 108 Eric Goldstrand and Lliana Adank Part 1 of 2 When 16 year old high schoolers Eric Goldstrand and Lliana Adank were shot to death in at the popular Fall Creek recreation area in June 1977, residents of the teens' hometown of Eugene, Oregon were shocked and devastated. There were hundreds of witnesses, tips, and leads… a surplus of information that led investigators nowhere. Suspect after suspect failed to pan out, and the case went cold for years, then decades. Extensive investigation into similar campground murders of couples also led nowhere. Finally, a cold case detective determined to solve the murders was able to employ forensic genealogy to identify a potential suspect, who was alive and living in another state. Investigators closed in on him, but he knew they were coming. We're back! We sat down with award-winning singer and actress Paloma Faith for our first episode of Season 3. We are so excited to be back in your ears. In this episode, Emma, Lliana and producer Shola went round to Paloma's house for a gin and tonic, and to get a few things off our breasts. We discussed Paloma's dislike of hashtags especially in the context of relationship bragging; whether nappies really are that big of a deal (following on from that Russell Brand interview) and the annoying habit of men telling women to smile or "cheer up love". Thanks for listening, and please do rate or review, and share with your friends! See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
