On this week's episode of the podcast, Emma-Louise was joined by OG creator, author and body positivity advocate, Megan Jayne Crabbe. Together they discuss the impact of our restrictive body image ideals, growing up with an eating disorder, how body image issues affect our relationship to sex and pleasure, the power of the body positivity movement and what it means to finally come home to your body. As Megan said on the podcast: "You don't have to love your body. You don't have to think your body's wonderful. You don't even have to think, yeah, this is the body that I want. "But at the very least, our bodies deserve some kind of respect, because they are doing their best up against a culture that convinces us to hate them." For this episode of the pod we partnered up with the team at Fenwick, Kingston where we hosted the recording live from their gorgeous, and newly redesigned, lingerie and nightwear section. You can watching the recording on Youtube here. Trigger warning: this episode discusses eating disorders, anorexia and body image issues. Please take care when listening and if you've been affected by anything discussed you can seek help at Beat below. Helen Bauer is this week's storyteller and she transports us back to a simpler time. We're in primary school for Red Nose Day, the fun time where everyone gets to wear red. But a toilet accident means that Helen's day doesn't really go to plan. And things go from bad to worse on Paper Bag Princess Day… It's a story of highs and lows, poos and wees. And what her current relationship means to her and what it's like being in a queer relationship. We also go on many a side tangent including the Jonas Brothers, Taylor Swift, and so much more.Megan Jayne Crabbe is an author, influencer, performer and loudly opinionated woman from Essex, UK. Listener Amy Nguyen is an Anorexia survivor, Megan Jayne Crabbe a mental health and lifestyle blogger and Jess Griffiths is one of BEAT’s Clinical Associate Trainers. Covid-19 has also seen a high level of anxiety among pregnant women. Megan Jayne Crabbe known online as 'Bodyposipanda’ has over a million followers on Instagram thanks to her unapologetic feminism and body positive activism. But the path to where Megan is today hasn’t been an easy one. She has lived with anxiety, and was diagnosed with anorexia nervosa at 14. After a long period of being at war with herself, Megan was able to embark on a recovery period through discovering the body positivity movement. She began to study the cultural messages that can cause harm, and started to tell others about the alternatives to self-loathing and punishment. She has a No 1 bestselling debut book 'Body Positive Power' and a sold out show, Never Say Diet Club, both of which have taught thousands of women how to stop dieting and make peace with their bodies for good. This episode was recorded at the BBC Writers Room retreat in collaboration with TalentWorks. www.instagram.com/bodyposipandawww.instagram.com/bbcstudiostalentworks See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

In Episode #47 on The Jen Mavros Show, ALL bodies are welcome here - all sizes, shapes, shades, ages, genders and abilities. Social Media Supa-star, Body Positive Best Selling Author and BOPO activist, Megan Jayne Crabbe [aka: @bodyposipanda] lights up our lives and joins us in this down to earth and illuminating conversation.  "We've been convinced that happiness is something that only comes once we hit that goal weight, get those washboard abs, shrink ourselves down and change every part of ourselves. We believe that our bodies are the problem, but this is not true. It's how we've been taught to see our bodies that's the problem... It's time for us all to stop believing the lies we've been fed about what it means to be beautiful, and take our power back. Megan's body image issues began when she was five years old. She spent her childhood chasing thinness, and at fourteen found herself spiraling into anorexia. After recovery she spent years dieting, binging, losing and gaining weight. But then she found body positivity, quit dieting, and finally escaped the cult of thin. Now she's determined to let as many people as possible know the truth: that we are all good enough as we are. With her inimitable flair, whip-smart wit and kickass attitude, Megan argues for a new way of seeing ourselves, and a world where every body is celebrated. Where there is no such thing as a 'bikini body diet' and 97% of women don't hate the way they look." Megan's work in the world is a powerful call to arms as much as it is inspirational and practical, this is an episode everyone can see themselves in. A must listen FO SHO!!
