"Cooper's Dreams" is the 5th episode of Season One of Twin Peaks. It was written by Mark Frost and directed by Lesli Linka Glatter, who is one of the more experimental auteurs in the Peaks-verse Lynch/Frost, notwithstanding. It originally aired on May 10th, 1990 and is perhaps best known for being the one where Cooper's a little on edge and only has time for coffee, and the gang hikes to the Log Lady's cabin for tea and spooky log testimony. Special guest, Cecelia Gunn joins us to explore such mysteries as: WHAT is Doc Hayward doing, tagging along on strenuous police field work?WHY does "Flesh World" keep publishing photos of Leo's truck?HOW come nobody, including Maddy, remembers meeting Maddy? PLUS: Donut Crimes, gun-happy Peakers, and of course, STFU JAMES!
Let's Rock! We're getting that crunchy Lynch/Frost vibe in Season 2, Episode 13: Checkmate! Jennifer analyzes Jean Renault; Colin asks if his we feel betrayed; Jonathan follows up on Denise Bryson; and Damon theorizes why the Civil War rears its ugly head. Welcome to Time for Cherry Pie and Coffee, a podcast all about Twin Peaks. We have returned to the water and the well of Lynch/Frost's surreal vision to discuss some of the themes and ideas that have resonated with us in the months since The Return hit our screens. Each episode will use the given title of each 'part' of season 3 as a jumping-off point, and this time, we're talking The Stars Turn and a Time Presents Itself. We'll be discussing the nature of temporal, spatial and astral perspectives that influence the views of not only the characters in Twin Peaks, but our understanding as the viewer. Are we really sure of what we are seeing around us? We look up and see the stars turn, but is it in fact the world we are in that is spinning? After more than two years and almost 100 episodes covering the wonderful worlds of Twin Peaks, the films of David Lynch, and the writing prowess of Mark Frost, we're saying a not-so-tearful goodbye. Well, not so much goodbye as a "We'll see you again... in less than 25 years." As we move on to our next shared love -- the complete works of William Shakespeare -- we are supremely thankful for all the wonderful people we've met doing our podcast, the insights we've received from other Peaks fans, and the fabulous experience of watching the show we loved come to life again after more than two decades of being away. Just like the show, we likely will be returning at some point to revisit the last works of Frost & Lynch we didn't quite get to -- Rabbits, Fantastic Four, and all the other late-career work that may still be coming -- so keep an eye here in case any new Lynch/Frost productions do come to light. In the meantime, you're more than welcome to follow us on our updated social media accounts and contact us by email: On Twitter - https://twitter.com/thebickspod On Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/thebickspod/ Email - thebickspod@gmail.com We hope you'll join us on April 23rd, as we start our new journey into something almost as arcane and impenetrable as Inland Empire itself -- Shakespeare's plays!

Seth Mnookin (of MIT's Graduate Science Writing program, Vanity Fair, and a whole bunch of other very cool stuff) for some reason felt compelled to ask if he could come onto our little Twin Peaks podcast…and we (reluctantly) obliged. We're glad we did, as we ended up having yet another wide-ranging look at just what The Return is up to, this time with a special focus on the Lynch/Frost equilibrium, the series' warped sense of time, and a whole lot more.
The Lifetime network holds a special place in the hearts of half of this podcast team, and this episode we're taking a look at the most Frostian of Lifetime made-for-TV movies: The Deadly Look of Love. Join us for a discussion of early-noughties feminism, the appeal and joys of Lifetime's particular romantic/life-affirming formula, and the elements of Mark Frost's work we are finally seeing as the most vital contributions to the vaunted Lynch/Frost collaboration. Starring: Jordan Ladd, Vincent Spano Directed by: Solace Mitchell Written by: Mark Frost & Solace Mitchell Produced by: Mark Frost and Lois Luger
The Bicks had the golden opportunity to sit down with Andrew Grevas to celebrate the first birthday of Andrew's legendary Twin Peaks site, 25 Years Later...and we couldn't pass it up! So here, in the space we'd normally talk about Twin Peaks in the chronological cataloguing of the Lynch/Frost professional oeuvre, permit us a moment to talk shop with our partner in publishing! Whether discussing the first time he entered the town of Twin Peaks or extolling the virtues of the amazing team of people who make the site what it is or lapsing into interview mode and asking US questions instead of the other way around, Andrew was a tremendous good sport and we had a lovely chat. We hope you enjoy listening to this episode as much as we enjoyed making it! Happy Birthday, 25YL!!! 25YL Site 25YL Site on Twitter 25YL Site on Facebook
Like you, we were a little surprised to find this gem in the memory banks at Lynch/Frost HQ. The second Lynch/Frost production to actually be produced, this short-lived slice of Americana: Documented, is a treat. We talk about the nouveau approach to documentary filmmaking on display, the breadth and tone of the topics discussed, and how it fits in with Twin Peaks, and the larger canon of Lynch and Frost works. This Mark Frost created project is a unique one, so don't miss out on our discussion, or the chance to watch it yourself. Starring: Richard Dreyfuss (narrator) Directed by: Mark Frost Written by: Mark Frost, Robin L. Sestero, Produced by: Mark Frost, Lynch/Frost Productions Notes: Pilot (Farewell to the Flesh) Manhattan After Dark Semper Fi Circus and Truck Stop
The elevator pitch for this film would have included: a secret government installation; a small town in Kansas; a cast of wacky characters; and an errant laser beam. It is baffling to imagine this film having actually been greenlit and even though it was never actually made, here we are 30 years on reading the screenplay of the first Lynch/Frost production. Come with us as we meet proto-Dougie and explore some of the early themes from Twin Peaks: The Return! We've brought enough Beefy Cheese Louises for all! Notes The screenplay - http://www.lynchnet.com/osbscript.html How a lost David Lynch script explains the divisive Dougie Deconstructing David Lynch's One Saliva Bubble (Part 1)
1987 was the time when David Lynch & Mark Frost first met and started to collaborate - so what exactly was Mark Frost up to right before that time? Two semi-psychological thrillers that shared enough similarities we're discussing them as one. "African" mysticism, single parents, curses, psychiatry, and a dash of 80s moral concern come up in both Scared Stiff and The Believers. We comb through these similarities to try and pick apart what interests, thoughts, and concerns were bubbling with Mark Frost as he and David Lynch began their collaboration on a number of projects that would culminate in Twin Peaks. We also finally take a stand and support what David Lynch has been saying for years: that Lynch/Frost productions really do have more than a healthy dose of Frostianism to them, a statement we feel comfortable making after working through Frost's pre-Peaks works. Scared Stiff Starring: Andrew Stevens, Mary Page Keller Directed by: Richard Friedman Written by: Mark Frost, Daniel F. Bacaner, Richard Friedman Produced by: Daniel F. Bacaner, Charles S. Carroll The Believers Starring: Martin Sheen, Helen Shaver Directed by: John Schlesinger Written by: Nicholas Conde (novel), Mark Frost (screenplay) Produced by: Edward Teets Notes Scared Stiff is available on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Eiy06dregg Another similarity we forgot to mention in the podcast: both films feature children who have another pseudo-spiritual facsimile from another culture - a lamp and a doll, both with somewhat racially insensitive markings. Aidan was right regarding the "anthropological work" described in The Believers - it was in Sudan, in East Africa, over 3,000 km from the Ivory Coast.
"Twin Peaks" co-creator Mark Frost just released a new book of tales from the series — but do they actually count when it comes to the official Lynch/Frost narrative? And how do other ancillary materials fit into other franchises? Liz and Ben dig in (shockingly, "The X-Files" comes up!).
In their first post-finale podcast about Twin Peaks: The Return, Karl and Jubel begin what will surely be the long task of parsing out what the hell just happened. Setting aside the cross-textual analysis for the most part, they look at how Lynch/Frost structured the Return, discuss some of their favorite (and least favorite) elements, … Continue reading "EP No. 18 — The 13th Secret: “What year is it anyway?”"
In our continued side-cast, Tom and Matt discuss Episodes 12 & 13 of Twin Peaks Season Three – welcome to the lull! New characters are still waltzing in, in leisurely fashion we might add, which leaves even us, staunch Lynch-Frost fans, slightly nervous. We get it David, we’re being toyed with and ha ha, you even rolled THE James Hurley out of retirement to play his homecoming gig at the Roadhouse – but please tell us we are going to get somewhere by the end of this… There is also theorising about Mr. C’s arm-wrestling, and Sonny Jim’s sunny gym. Also spoilers for S7E4 of Game of Thrones, because if you’ve seen that episode, you can understand that we just couldn’t NOT talk about it. After a little mini vacation between the first and second season, Podcast From Another Place is back! Stevil, Dustin and Drex continue with the extended season two premiere, but are a member short, as DemiGod Rob is away saving lives in the Kootenays. You know the place, up by ol' One Eye's... Hot on the heels of the No Lynch, No Peaks, Save Twin Peaks campaign, this episode is directed magnificently by the man himself, David Lynch. Starting with a new opening, which Drex points out, this episode starts even darker and more ominous than the first season ended and gives us way more questions. Why won't the room service old guy call an ambulance? What happened to Leland's hair and what is up with Laura's sunglasses. Stevil works the conspiracy theory for this episode, trying to make sense of it all. The panel gives a shout out to a new listener on Twitter and talk about a show premiering soon that seems very "Lynch/Frost" like. Stevil got overzealous as well on this and didn't introduce anyone on the show, so you get the fun time of discerning their voices from each other. They forgot their own format. Vacations, what can we say? Follow us on twitter @PodFAP
