Magic formats are the sum of all their pieces, or so we would think. But as we get further and further away from the start of Magic the Gathering, the impact is felt much less. With Pioneer it's different. We get a little bit from every new set and plane we visit. While not one set has a stranglehold on the format, the loss of one would affect Pioneer considerably. That's why we enjoy doing these episodes where we explore Pioneer and find out where each plane fits in to the format. As we near the end of this journey of exploration, only a few planes remain. Today it's the plane of Dominaria and the planes of Magic Origins. To understand the planes of Magic Origins, Kevin gives us a short lesson on all 10 planes involved and we talk about the background story for each. We also discuss what archetypes the planes enable, what mechanics they introduce, and also go over what cards we think will have a big impact on Pioneer and ones that have already made quite the splash. Grab your hiking shoes boots and join us on today's expedition to Dominaria and beyond! Our Discord: https://discord.gg/SBRF8DH Our Twitter: https://twitter.com/MtgPioneer

The last three core sets have each featured dramatically different limited formats. Magic Origins was a fast-paced format where being on the play was a big deal and missing your 2-drop was often fatal, whereas M14 was the polar opposite: a format where Divination was a first-pickable card, Opportunity was a bomb, and cards like […]

Hi there! It's limited strategy week, and so we take the opportunity to talk about the [mtg_card]Mind Rot[/mtg_card] effect: where cards always seem to be great against you, but terrible when you play them. We go into depth on why certain cards feel this way, and the best ways to better judge them in limited play. We also have the last few Crack-a-packs of Magic Origins, and the usual Back in't'Day and Trash to Treasure. As always check out our sponsors Magic Madhouse, and make sure you're following us on Facebook and Twitter for all the latest updates. You should also follow our YouTube channel, with more videos to come! Thanks for listening, The Blue Envelope team x
