On this week's episode we discuss Selinsgrove and Lincoln racing against each other during Selinsgrove's biggest show of the season, we look at the complete domination this season of dirt late model racing by Ricky Thornton Jr. and Bobby Pierce, Longhorn Chassis getting a new house car driver in 2024, Matt Sheppard dabbling in a late model, and Nick Hoffman pulling double duty at Davenport.
Tom and Justin check in for the first solo “Story Time” episode of Uncommon Deeds, presented by PRO HEAT of East Montpelier, VT. This week's Story Time asks questions like this: Who was a better racer – Dave Dion or Jack Johnson? If you look strictly at the win totals, it's pretty lopsided. But if you ever saw them both race, it's just about a dead-even argument. We take a look at why win totals are so far apart between dirt and asphalt racing, and how drivers like Matt Sheppard and Jean-Paul Cyr can be considered equally dominant, yet be more than 400 wins apart. He gives us a rundown on the state of the sport up north, plus we talk Matt Sheppard, other drivers to watch, and a bunch of good stuff about the business of streaming.
“So the jobs existed, but the change to a new product did not change the jobs. It changed the solutions that were available to satisfy the jobs.” In today's episode of the Circuit Breaker Show, Bob and Greg chat with Matt Sheppard, Associate and Principal at The Rewired Group. You'll learn why there is no such thing as a new idea. Bob will talk about the knowledge that Jobs To Be Done is built on and how Dr. Deming influenced JTBD. You will learn about the new book Bob is writing. Join us for this thought-provoking discussion. Enjoy! What You'll Learn in this Show: Why creating a new idea is supply-side thinking. The difference between usage and attitudes and need states. Has the pandemic economic crisis created new jobs? Why working from home is not a job. Our guests include Lonnie Lamb, Matt Sheppard, Boom Briggs, Brandon Shepard, Steve Baker, Mandy Pauch, Alex Yankowski and Mat Williamson. Brandon Sheppard (Late Models), Brad Sweet (Sprint Cars), and Matt Sheppard (Big-Block Modifieds) celebrated their championships Saturday at the World of Outlaws World Finals at The Dirt Track at Charlotte. Brent Marks (Sprint Cars), Jonathan Davenport (Late Models) and Brett Hearn (DIRTcar Big-Block Modifieds) won Saturday's feature races in the NGK NTK World of Outlaws World Finals at The Dirt Track at Charlotte. While Brad Sweet, Brandon Sheppard and Matt Sheppard celebrated championships, Brent Marks ended his season in the best way possible Saturday night: lifting a winner's trophy in the World of Outlaws World Finals at The Dirt Track at Charlotte. Marks was joined in Victory Lane by Jonathan Davenport, who won the 40-lap World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Models feature, and the legendary Brett Hearn, who claimed the 30-lap Super DIRTcar Big-Block Modifieds A-Main. Davenport swept the weekend in the Late Model class, following up Friday's win with another victory. He passed Garrett Smith with 19 laps to go and held Smith off on a green-white-checkered finish. Hearn added to his spectacular resume by leading all 30 laps of the Super DIRTcar feature. The Charlotte win was his 450th DIRTcar-sanctioned victory and his fifth at The Dirt Track. Plus, it was Hearn's first Super DIRTcar win since Nov. 3, 2018.

Nick is joined by Rishi Persad to discuss the extraordinary news that emerged from Ireland yesterday that Viking Hoard, trained by Charles Byrnes, had been nobbled by an unidentified third party with sedative ACP before running at Tramore in 2018, a race in which he was heavily laid to lose on Betfair by a mystery punter based abroad. Nick and Rishi discuss the case, its implications for Irish racing and the suspension of Byrnes for negligence, which he is appealing. Later in this edition, Nick talks to Harry Cobden on regaining the ride aboard Politologue, to trainer Tom Symonds about his split with assistant David Dennis, who has taken his horses to Matt Sheppard, and to ten year old Tubs McNally about the extraordinary Dreal Deal. JA McGrath brings the weekly update from Hong Kong.

Matt Sheppard is the Chief Operating Officer of The Hummus & Pita Co., a fast-casual Mediterranean concept geared toward national expansion. Before stepping into this current position, Sheppard held multiple senior leadership roles at McAlister’s Deli, including Vice President of Operations for Franchise Operations and Senior Director of Company Operations. Key Takeaways: [0:27] Today’s episode is brought to you by Franchise 5! The key to long-term success is through smart, strategic growth. To learn more about this program, head over to FranchiseEuphoria.com/Franchise5. [0:58] Our episode today features Matt Sheppard, the COO of The Hummus and Pita Co. Matt leads the company’s franchising efforts and today he sheds light on the methods they used to expand at a manageable and strategic rate. [3:15] Matt gives an overview of The Hummus and Pita Co. and gives insight on what makes this concept so unique when compared to other fast casual restaurants out there. [6:20] Before getting started with The Hummus and Pita Co., Matt moved through the ranks at various franchise systems. [8:07] Matt views franchisees as an additional partner who is well-qualified to be running a segment of the franchisor’s business. You don’t just want to get numbers, but someone who is like-minded and will run your business well. [10:45] It is so important to flush out your concept before franchising. Even if people are breaking down your door wanting to join your concept, you are doing them a disservice by not making sure your foundation is well built. [12:24] When your concept is thriving, people will come to you for the opportunity to get involved as a franchisee, even if you aren’t yet offering franchises. [12:50] The Hummus and Pita Co. has developed a branding strategy that involves Area Developer Agreements where they sell their franchises 5 locations at a time, which is where they get their target of 100 franchises in a year. [14:45] With an Area Developer Agreement, you agree to open a certain amount of franchise locations over a definitive timeline, but you don’t necessarily have to have each specific location mapped out when you sign on. [16:29] For Matt, the biggest surprises in franchising has been overcoming the growth phases. Sometimes you have to realize that when you have a plan in place and then you get franchisees who open the doors, you may have to admit that things need restructured a bit and accommodate for those changes. [17:59] The ideal franchisee for The Hummus and Pita Co. is someone with an entrepreneurial spirit while also being able to navigate the operational challenges that come with franchising. [20:08] If you want more information on The Hummus and Pita Co. head over to www.hummusandpita.com.
