Texas students largely aren't making enough progress recovering from the learning disruptions touched off by the pandemic, new test results show. In other news, President Donald Trump's administration's crackdown on immigration, which began last week, has led to a daily spike in the number of arrests of undocumented people in the country; as a bird flu-induced egg shortage sweeps the country, North Texas restaurateurs are having to make adjustments to their menus to keep up with price increases and lack of availability. Matt Tobin, owner of Goodfriend Package and Goodfriend Beer Garden in East Dallas said, ‘we've seen a 20 to 25% increase in egg prices from November until now. They're probably up 17 to 18% just in the last month.' And the Dallas Cowboys' confirmed that newly minted head coach Brian Schottenheimer will also serve as the team's offensive play caller. The duty might've kept him in the building. Cowboys chief operating officer Stephen Jones said after Schottenheimer's introductory news conference Monday at The Star that former head coach Mike McCarthy would have continued to call plays had the team retained him as head coach. Schottenheimer — who served as offensive coordinator for two seasons under McCarthy — wouldn't have hung around for a third year of that arrangement. Learn more about your ad choices. New Jersey is notorious for its restrictive laws governing who can sell alcohol. Those laws limit the supply of licenses based on population - one liquor license per 5,000 residents. Because of such restrictions, many liquor licenses in New Jersey are bought from existing license holders. In places where demand is high, licenses can sell for $1million or more – if they are available at all. Despite this restrictive business landscape, Liquor Factory has paved its way to becoming a staple in New Jersey with six different locations. On today’s show, Matt Tobin of Liquor Factory dives deep into what is like running a successful family business. Plus, he gives great and practical tips on opening a liquor store in New Jersey. In this episode, we cover these FQAs: How many liquor licenses can a person hold in NJ? What’s the difference between restaurant licenses and liquor licenses? How long is the liquor license bidding process? How do you ensure the success of each store when you own several locations? How can you turn a former restaurant into a liquor store? What kind of license do you need?
Matt Tobin is the creator and developer of Aeon Timeline. Aeon Timeline is an app that I discovered through my interview with Roger Schulman, who uses it in writing his scripts. With Aeon Timeline you can model not only the events of your story, but the backstory of your characters, you can capture relationships between events and your characters, locations, and story arcs, you can visually group events by character, location, or story arc, you can calculate the character ages for every event, you can create your own custom fantasy calendar if your story takes place off-world. The app is packed full of features for project management and is an app I think everyone should check out to see if you have a place for it in your work. More information about Aeon Timeline can be found at www.AeonTimeline.com.
