If you've ever flipped off a buddy driving past on the highway, stopped cold when you heard reveille, or felt physically uncomfortable when someone thanked you for your service, you already know what this episode is. Twenty habits from military life that never fully leave you, and that can seriously confuse the civilians around you. In this episode, I walk through the full list: from greeting your best friends with the middle finger to standing at the position of attention during the national anthem, from using military lingo in normal conversation to keeping contingency plans for a night at a concert. Some of these are funny. Some hit different. All of them are real. When looking into Jeffrey Epstein's abusive world, Eva Andersson-Dubin appears to be the origin for his delusions that the girls and women he victimized would eventually prosper due to their involvement with him...if they were obedient. Known as his former girlfriend, Eva Dubin stayed in Epstein's life, providing him with the useful expertise of a doctor and seemingly benefitting from his wealth and contacts. Her husband and children had their own relationships with Epstein. He called himself godfather to Eva's children and, as emails and documents show, had a particular interest in her oldest daughter, Celina. In an effort to better understand the nature and depth of these connections, as well as the allegations against the Dubins as levied by Virginia Giuffre and others, we walk through what has been stated by Epstein survivors. Additionally, we look at personal communications via Epstein's email, articles detailing business connections, and from testimony and depositions given as a part of Ghislaine Maxwell's trial. All opinions are personal and not representative of any outside company, person, or agenda. The series completes itself with a look at the grandaddy of them all, Shaun Monson's 'Earthlings'. Although food has been the main focus of the series, this documentary also looks at the use of animals as pets (even that isn't always pretty), for clothes, for entertainment and finally for scientific experiments. Shaun's 2015 sequel 'Unity' is in the show notes below. Antony also mentions a couple of Australian documentaries that are even harder to watch than 'Earthlings' (if that's even possible), and offers some final statements and some attempt at a conclusion. General series notes We all know it's happening. We all know it's horrific but try to tell ourselves it's not that bad and if we just buy free-range eggs we can square it with our conscience and sleep peacefully. However, research and just a small sample of the copious amounts of truly heartbreaking video footage available makes it clear that it is far, far worse than we think (note- the information in this podcast series is actually quite sanitised compared to other testimonies and footage out there). Who is to blame? The consumer or the industry? It seems to be a chicken-and-egg situation that could be improved greatly by the average consumer deciding to invest time in discovering what is behind some of the shameful (and shameless) propaganda techniques employed by the food industry. As should be clear in the series, the animals are the biggest victims but not the only ones, which is obvious when you research the state of meat, eggs and dairy that is routinely passed as 'safe to consume'. To gain a better industry of how and why this nasty business is allowed to happen, a recommended companion piece is the excellent documentary 'The Corporation' and indeed the previous LALO episode on it (see show notes for both). We really owe it to ourselves and the animals who largely live miserable, hellish lives before suffering painful and brutal deaths, to make the effort in the ultimate information age to inform ourselves of the real situation. Unfettered capitalism cannot be allowed to run riot without resistance. Do I recommend watching the documentaries and other video footage available? I'm going to say yes but please proceed with caution and I would actively discourage viewing them if you feel in a vulnerable or depressive state because they have the power to make you question whether true humanity exists and how we can possibly behave in this kind of way to innocent, defenceless beings (once again, I would also include some humans in this). As the saying goes, 'once you've seen it, you can't unsee it', and as Ed Winters aka Earthling Ed says at the end of 'Land of Hope And Glory', 'you can never again say you didn't know'. While listening, consider/research the following; normalisation, desensitisation, disassociation, cultural reinforcement, cognitive dissonance, confirmation bias, power(lessness), exploitation, deception, isolation, (relative) value of life, respect, compassion, sympathy, mercy, humanity. Send us Fan MailJillian Salinas, founder of Beach City Coffee, joins Badass Women in Business to share how a backyard roasting hobby became a national retail brand rooted in community, sustainability, and resilience. Her story offers a grounded look at what it takes to rebuild after disruption, enter major retail without a clear roadmap, and grow without abandoning the values that made people care in the first place.Show NotesThe Strategic Focus:This conversation explores the long game of building a values-led consumer brand, where staying power comes not from chasing every opportunity, but from staying deeply connected to community, moving quickly when the market shifts, and making operational choices that reflect the company's original purpose.Key Takeaways:Community can become a strategic advantage. Jillian's growth was not built only on product quality, but on relationships, trust, and a brand story people could believe in.Resilience often means rebuilding before you feel ready. When Beach City Coffee's original revenue stream disappeared during the pandemic, Jillian had to pivot quickly and pursue retail growth without a perfect roadmap.Sustainability has to survive scale. Beach City Coffee's compostable, PFAS-free packaging reflects Jillian's belief that environmental responsibility should be built into the business model, not added later as a marketing layer.Purpose-driven growth requires discipline. As the brand expanded into major retailers, including Whole Foods, Walmart, Kroger, Ralphs, Frys, and King Soopers, Jillian stayed focused on protecting the principles that shaped the company from the beginning.Guest Contact & ConnectJillian Salinas is the founder of Beach City Coffee, a Redondo Beach-based coffee brand that grew from small-batch roasting into a national retail presence while championing compostable packaging, community, and ocean-conscious business practices.Connect with Beach City Coffee:WebsiteInstagramLinkedInFacebookTikTokTo connect with more women building bold, values-led businesses, join the proveHER community and read the companion blogcast.---Subscribe and ReviewIf you loved this episode, drop us a review, share it with a badass woman in your life, and subscribe to Badass Women in Business wherever you get your podcasts.Stay badass. James and Robert are back with another episode of The Double Cleanse, and this week they're in FULL RANT MODE… they're unleashing it all. After celebrating Marc Jacobs Beauty's comeback with gorgeously packaged products, James goes on a passionate tangent about something that absolutely infuriates him: why do all lip product shades have to be sexually suggestive? He reads out the offending shade names and rightfully questions why our lips need to be reduced to sexual objects in product marketing. Whatever happened to empowerment and self love in beauty? They're calling out influencers overselling "vintage" film camera aesthetics as revolutionary when it's just low-quality pictures you can replicate with a filter in one click. They're absolutely roasting the TikTok Shop towel warmer dispenser. And most importantly, they're fed up with brands literally inventing problems to sell solutions. Hot towels? No one asked for that. Shitty quality photos? Buy our camera! Walking upstairs wrong? Get our backwards slippers! The message is loud and clear: it's okay to be excited about products, but stop overselling and stop making up fake needs! Black Flag Resynced just became the biggest Assassin's Creed launch in history — and it's a remake of a 13-year-old game with mixed Steam reviews. The boys break down the day-one microtransaction backlash, whether the remake gold rush is good for gaming, and which classics deserve the full ground-up treatment next. Then it gets heavier: Microsoft's July layoff wave hit Bethesda and ZeniMax hard, and Raz makes the case that AI is a top-three reason why. Plus the office memorial HR forced down, 14 layers of management, and why Elder Scrolls 6 should have shipped a decade ago. Also on the docket: Doom: The Dark Ages – Revelations DLC and its Metroidvania-inspired level design, Stop Killing Games taking Ls in the EU and California (and the list of "dying" games nobody has ever heard of), the full corrected rundown of Tarkov's Kord Breach Season 1 modifiers, and the BO2 remaster shipping with bugs that were patched a decade ago. A summary of over 36 different current events topics that range from birthright citizenship, to Graham Platner's pile of red flags, to the origins of the foundational phrase, "separation of church and state". Along the way are details about Air Force Major Jason Watson and his protest speech from the U.S. Capitol calling for all Americans to join him in demanding that the current administration be Impeached, Convicted, and Removed.Additionally, the latest rush quota from the administration to detain 10,000 people in 5 days that was announced just before the murder of Texas father, Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, while on his way to work. Yet, as chaos abounds, we read investigative reports on taxpayer money being used for transporting detainees to multiple locations, no-bid contracts for acquaintances, personal projects at the White House, sending Homeland Security staff to track down people and hand them forms, and holding the first 'Patriot Games' to showcase teenagers when the rest of the Epstein Files are still unreleased despite a court order.Check your voter registration, find your polling location, or contact your representatives via USA.GOV, VOTE.GOV, and/or the "5 Calls" app. All opinions are personal and not representative of any outside company, person, or agenda. Continuing with this most upsetting but vitally important topic, Antony completes his look at 'Land of Hope And Glory', discusses the big myth about tradition and change and then switches to a new documentary called 'The Dying Trade'. This film was made by Jack Hancock, who gives the issue a new spin by exploring his relationship with his father, who just happens to be a man-and-boy slaughterhouse worker (Antony avoids euphemistic words like 'abattoir' throughout this series). Along the way, Jack meets a Holocaust survivor and such legends as Temple Grandin and Gail Eisnitz. As Upton Sinclair famously said, 'it's difficult to get a man to understand something when his salary depends on him not understanding it'. This second part ends with testimonies from some rather brave slaughterhouse workers, who are largely victims themselves working in a stressful and terrifying environment which is, as Shaun Monson puts it, 'both a kitchen and a toilet'. General series notes We all know it's happening. We all know it's horrific but try to tell ourselves it's not that bad and if we just buy free-range eggs we can square it with our conscience and sleep peacefully. This pod reviews and summarizes the questions and answers, stopping to cite any applicable emails from Jmail.world along the way. Why didn't she think calling different people for his daily massages, and paying them in cash, was odd? What did she see and hear? Why wasn't it a red flag that Epstein had a house full of young women? How was it normal to get photos of foreign women for her to pass to Epstein? What did he say to convince her to stay after his arrest, guilty plea, and sex offender status in 2008? The answers may infuriate, but they also inform. The final pod review of the Congressional testimony of Jeffrey Epstein's longtime Executive Assistant, Lesley Groff, maintains focus on her awareness, or lack thereof, of underage girls regularly meeting with Epstein. Whether through booking travel, corresponding via email and phone, or arranging cash payments and gifts, Congress members ask how she is certain that everyone was an adult. Why didn't she see that changing access codes to apartments was a form of coercion and control? How was being in charge of haircuts and medical appointments for so many young women and girls seen as normal? How does researching, making calls, and emailing about steps to obtain a VISA not confirm her involvement in obtaining VISAS? Why didn't any of Epstein's alarming behavior and ongoing requests raise any flags after he was known to be a registered sex offender who had been accused of abusing young girls? Despite several emails that seem to indicate otherwise, Lesley maintains ignorance throughout, a commitment that is as chilling as it is impressive. This is the first part of a series on a topic which could be the most important and urgent ever covered on this podcast. There's no doubt that the research, including lots of video footage, has been the most upsetting and harrowing, but there has been a strangely cathartic quality to it as well. In this part, Antony talks about his relationship with animals, the video that was the final trigger (or final straw) for these episodes, and then begins to go through the content of the film 'Land of Hope and Glory'. This documentary is known as a UK version of the well-known animal rights/use & abuse film 'Earthlings', which will be covered later in the series. We hope you find this of interest Thanks for listening! The Context of White Supremacy hosts the Counter-Racist Weekly Review 06/27/26. This broadcast examines current events from across the globe to learn what's happening in all areas of people activity. We cultivate Counter-Racist Media Literacy by scrutinizing journalists' word choices and using logic to deconstruct what is reported as "news." We'll use these sessions to hone our use of terms as tools to reveal truth and neutralize Racists/White people. #ANTIBLACKNESS This week, we analyze the global enforcement of state policy, legal degradation, and targeted systemic terror: 1. The Supreme Court Strip of Immigrant Protections: We dissect the high court's decision to strip protections for Haitian and Syrian immigrants. We apply counter-racist logic to look past judicial jargon and reveal the deliberate legal vulnerability manufactured for non-white populations seeking refuge. 2. The Global Enforcement of Biological and Climate Control: We examine the corporate health risks of Roundup alongside the environmental toll of record-breaking heatwaves spanning Western Europe to Los Angeles's East Side. We deconstruct how the system concentrates toxic exposure and environmental degradation inside non-white sectors while corporate networks manage the fallout. 3. Legalized Injustice & State Abuse: We break down the Supreme Court blocking a Rastafari man's right to sue a Louisiana prison, a New Jersey music festival canceled over white supremacy ties, and the local devastation of a California library shooting. We decode the media's framing to reveal how the state shields its agents while suppressing non-white autonomy. #KohenWiley #NoHaitians #TheCOWS17Years Call: 720.716.7300 Code: 564943#
The murder of infant Kohen Wiley by Mississippi police, called to arrest a woman accused of shoplifting a pack of diapers, is the catalyst for a segment detailing myriad reasons why I hate Walmart and what it has done to America. Then, looking into the reflecting pool to see dead ducklings, flapping polyurethane, and D.C. under cronyism. Also, updates on concepts of a plan for Iran, the poetic ends of pedo loyalists, crusade-era germ theory, and reviewing a new investigative report into who was really directing the Director of National Intelligence. Plus, a quick summary of why signing a treaty at Versailles has historical significance, and a reminder that what's happening at Delaney Detention Center in N.J., and all detention centers, will also be remembered throughout history. ** #133 Roasting Saints 29: The Mormon Memory Hole ** :: May I have a propaganda filter for my QR code scanner? :: Jones and Patience discuss Mormon news, the April 2026 General Conference, and respond to some "history" that the 29th episode of the LDS "Saints" podcast dragged in. :: QUOTE: :: When discussing the hypocrisy of Joseph Smith for calling his own adultery sacred, while the womanising of John C. Bennet was somehow grounds for excommunication. PATIENCE: That's a bit of "the pot calling the kettle black" isn't it! JONES: Ahhh, but the pot was also claiming that the chef said he could do whatever he wants! :: HIGHLIGHTS: :: Apparently the mainstream LDS church is now allowing women to be "president" of "sunday school" with caveats. Jones explained how when women get more power in the LDS heirarchy, it's never ultimately over a man. Because in Mormonism, men have "The Power of the Priesthood Penis People". Mormon Easter is 1 week away from regular Easter because General Conference is held during regular Easter. More on Queensland's rediculous new hate-speech legislation, and the amusing farnsy-flash-mob in King George Square. #Reasons to stay home this Sunday# - https://bookofboredom.com/reasons/ #Join the Blasphemy# - https://facebook.com/groups/BookOfBoredom #Patreon (Bonus Episodes)# - https://patreon.com/BookOfBoredom #Twitter# - https://twitter.com/BookOfBoredom #TikTok# - https://tiktok.com/@BookOfBoredomPodcast #Instagram# - https://instagram.com/BookOfBoredomPodcast #YouTube# - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMjDavWoT73Cev3IAie_XBA #Website# - https://bookofboredom.com/ A nice review on any podcast platform will help frustrate the Heavenly Father's boring plans for your future.

Buckle up, because this episode of Packernet After Dark got spicy real quick. Callers flooded the lines to roast Bears fans over their latest meltdown involving Caleb Williams landing the Madden cover and the wild rumors of the franchise ditching Chicago for Hammond, Indiana. It was unfiltered, unapologetic, and exactly what you expect from the late-night call-in show. Rich from Texas and Brian went nuclear on Bears fans for being the most delusional fanbase in sports, especially with the Vince Young parallels and the "Madden curse" talk flying around. Callers celebrated the potential Indiana move as the ultimate humiliation for a franchise that's been in Chicago for over 100 years, complete with brutal jokes about Hammond and the death of Soldier Field. Josh Jacobs drama took center stage as fans hoped he's innocent and ready for Week 1, while still keeping it real about the off-field situation. Uncle Rico and others chopped it up about Christian Watson's contract steal and why Micah Parsons missing time isn't the end of the world for Green Bay. This episode is brought to you by PrizePicks! Drink coffees with known origins side by side. Visit cuppings and coffee festivals.Green coffee: Origin, processing method (washed, natural, anaerobic), density and freshness have a bigger impact on taste than the roast profile. As we near the celebration of our 250th year, America sets new records for unchecked insider trading and corruption. An IRS lawsuit turned into an attempt to take $1.776 Billion of taxpayer funds from the US Treasury, our impotent Congress is begging for a raise, all as rampant conflicts of interest abound. Plus, updates on a tone deaf road trip, more dramatic firings, and an overpriced, gold phone whose most effective feature is alerting the public of its user's issues. Barry, Abigail, and special guest Nick Martino discuss Ozomatli by Ozomatli and sample Sole of the Sea (collaboration with Rockport Brewing Company in Rockport, Massachusetts), Drip, and girl, so confusing from Lost Shoe Brewing and Roasting Company in Marlborough, Massachusetts.Nick is now a four-timer, having previously appeared on our second Christmas bonus episode, Bonus: A Christmas Day's Eve! Original Songs by Our Friends, and both of our live episodes: Bonus: LIVE from Stand Up! Pod Jam 2024: Pops on Hops Friend Exchange (New York Funk Exchange and Able Baker Brewing) and Bonus: LIVE from Stand Up! Pod Jam 2025: Neon Desert Challenge (the latter of which he also produced for us!). Give his previous appearances some love; they are a lot of fun!Nick, in part, chose to assign us this album because of Abigail's beef with He's the DJ, I'm the Rapper by DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince as displayed in Jukebox: He's the Drinker, We're the Talkers (DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince and Evil Genius Beer Company). Coincidentally, this album reminded Abigail of a different Derek Hummel, Sr., Jukebox selection, Make Yourself by Incubus, as discussed in Jukebox: Make Your Flight (Incubus and Hell 'n Blazes Brewing Co.).Both DJ Cut Chemist and MC Chali 2na left Ozomatli after this album because their other group, Jurassic 5, was blowing up.We found a great blog with additional information about and clips of Nick's favorite “trumpet battle” between Wynton Marsalis and Trombone Shorty at the House of Blues in New Orleans, Louisiana, in 2009. Evidently, trumpet battles have been going on for over 100 years!Watch Chali 2na and New Orleans-based jazz band Naughty Professor perform Cut Chemist Suite live at the Culture Room in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in 2018!Oh look, more self-promotion! O Le Le names Edie Brickell, whom we have previously reviewed (see Using Honeybees for the Meads [Edie Brickell & New Bohemians and B. Nektar]). We could think of at least one other time an artist we reviewed explicitly names an artist we'd previously reviewed: Crash Test Dummies (see Pops Shuffled His Flight [Crash Test Dummies and Toll Road Brewing Company]) names David Bryne (see Byrned-Again [David Byrne and Lincoln & South Brewing Company]) in When I Go Out with Artists. These two latter albums are both among Abigail's top five favorite albums we've ever reviewed, as revealed in our Pops on Hops Hot 100 Special!Super Bowl Sundae contains a sample that sounds very similar to a sample previously discussed on the podcast: Hip Hop Dancer's Theme by DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince samples Peter Piper by Run-D.M.C., which sampled Take Me to the Mardi Gras by Bob James.Abigail plugged The Manifesto (feat. Trueno and Proof) off of Gorillaz' recently released The Mountain, a song featuring both Indian influence and a Spanish-language rapper!girl, so confusing was brewed with the 2026 Pink Boots hop blend from Yakima Chief Hops. Sales of this hop blend benefit the Pink Boots Society, which supports women and non-binary individuals in the fermented and alcoholic beverage industry!Up next… I've Got My Own Album to Do by Ronnie WoodJingles are by our friend Pete Coe.Visit Anosmia Awareness for more information on Barry's condition.Follow Barry or Abigail on Untappd to see what we're drinking when we're not on mic!Leave us a rating or a review on Apple Podcasts or Spotify!Facebook | Instagram | Bluesky | YouTube | Substack | Website | Email us | Virtual Jukebox | Beer Media Group

A look into how Mother's Day illustrates the effective strategy to absorb and negate threats to the status quo. Then, how a recent decision by the majority of the United States Supreme Court Justices to deem Section 2 of The Voting Rights Act of 1965 "unconstitutional" is the latest step in a decades-long effort to compromise votes from minorities. Why the scariest thing about the Andes strain of the Hantavirus is how vulnerable the U.S. is with anti-vax, roadkill obsessed idiots in charge, and learning more about a road-tripping reality show starring our current Secretary of Transportation that highlights how tone deaf and indifferent this administration is as gas prices continue to soar.
