Hosts: Nique Crews, C.L. Butler, Nateisha & Yusuf Topic: Dear Nique Letter On today’s episode of RSP, The crew replays one of the best "Lunch Dates" they have had. The crew responds to a Dear Nique letter from a writer who tells the team, “I’m trying to be for these streets,” as he dismisses the idea of being in a relationship right now. He wants advice from the team, asking, How can I have what I want, especially if these ladies are trying to take me off the market? The crew advises him to ensure his behavior matches what he says he wants, as this is more important than simply telling the women what he doesn’t want. The team members warn against demonstrating boyfriend behavior if being a boyfriend is not something he is ready for. They encourage him to consider how and where he meets these women. Ultimately, the crew mentions this man’s need to settle down and take time to heal himself before he does damage to himself and others, but since he’s determined to be for these streets, the current advice is to always be honest about his intentions. The crew will gladly pass on your advice and suggestions to their writer, so you’re encouraged to leave your comments and feedback on their social media platforms. Butler, Nateisha & Yusuf Topic: Dear Nique Letter On today’s episode of RSP, the crew responds to a Dear Nique letter from a writer who tells the team, “I’m trying to be for these streets,” as he dismisses the idea of being in a relationship right now. Antoinette says she confronts supervisors who use passive aggression in their leadership style. Yusuf says that he recognizes that his response to situations can be seen as gaslighting even though he doesn’t want to hurt anyone with his approach. Professor Tee discusses how language such as “Here we go again,” and “What did I do now,” interrupts the possibility of resolution. Hosts: Nique Crews, C.L. Butler, Nateisha & Yusuf Topic: Dear Nique Letter On today’s episode of RSP, the crew reads a Dear Nique letter from a gentleman who wants to know if he should confront his woman about showing more attention and affection to one of her daughters. C.L. begins by saying he shouldn’t address it directly, and he should take action instead by spending time with the daughter who gets less attention. Professor Tee challenges that suggestion by asking, “Why can’t he include both girls?” The next 30 minutes of the conversation is a debate; however, the team eventually lands here: there is no wrong way to handle the situation. The listeners’ comments reveal advice that supports both approaches. As always, the team encourages listeners to chime in, whether via email or on their social media platforms. Hosts: Nique Crews, C.L. Butler, Nateisha & Yusuf Topic: Knowing When to Leave On today’s episode of RSP, each cohost shares a condition that alerts us when it’s time to exit the relationship. “You can hurt your kids more by staying in an unhealthy relationship,” Yusuf shares, as he discusses his perception about leaving. Nique’s contribution highlights the lack of balance that’s created when one person is working much harder than the other at resolving relationship issues. C.L. discusses the damage that can result when one partner is constantly standing in line to withdraw but hardly shows up when its time to deposit. Professor Tee warns that a person who begins to suppress who he/she is for the sake of being in a relationship also begins to trade in one’s identity. Listen to the entire episode to hear the depth behind these conditions, and position yourselves to learn more about a time when Yusuf felt inferior in a previous relationship, and Professor Tee dated a man who asked her to scale back on her public speaking. Hosts: Nique Crews, C.L. Butler, Nateisha & Yusuf Topic: Dear Nique Letter On today’s lunch date episode, the crew is joined by guest blogger, K. Antoinette, and they read and analyze a Dear Nique letter. The writer is mourning the loss of a year and a half long toxic relationship. He admits to blocking her, and he also recognizes that leaving the relationship is better for him; unfortunately, he is struggling to cope with them no longer being together. He misses her, and he wants them to be on good terms. The team unanimously agree that the writer should work on his personal issues and deal with the root of why he wants to remain in a toxic relationship. C.L. seeks clarification: “Wait. A man wrote this,” he asks. Yusuf advises the writer to erase her as a contact and unfollow her on social media. Nique plays devil’s advocate and questions whether he was toxic in the relationship as well. Professor Tee challenges the writer to take time to write a list of all the things she’s done to make their relationship toxic. K. Antoinette interjects the point that some people only understand one love language, which may include yelling, arguing and other toxic forms of communicating. Hosts: Nique Crews, C.L. Butler, Nateisha & Yusuf Topic: Dear Nique Letter On today’s lunch date episode of RSP, before the crew gets into the Dear Nique letter, they briefly engage in a convo about Yusuf’s cooked crack, Nique’s next educational pursuit, Professor Tee’s disdain for buffets, and C.L.’s re-enactment of the “big-faced girl” comment. The Dear Nique writer shares that her 10-year cheating boyfriend is actually angry with her for finally leaving the relationship and their apartment. Nique gives the writer a wake-up call as she analyzes why the writer kept forgiving her cheating lover. Professor Tee encourages her to push her energy away from worrying about his feelings about focusing on her own journey. C.L. wants her to realize that she truly wasn’t in a 10-year relationship at all, and the time she spent was time wasted. Yusuf suggests that women who keep taking these men back should stop wearing that kind of ride or die banner like it’s a badge of honor. Hosts: Nique Crews, C.L. Butler, Nateisha & Yusuf Topic: Marriage & Dating Advice On today’s episode of Relationship Status Podcast, the crew is joined by Destiny, Brittany, Paige, and Yana, the cohosts of The Black Golden Girls Podcast, where they discuss relationship advice. Guest podcaster, Brittany, suggests that a person should get to know him/herself, and Paige says one should not bring prior problems in a new relationship. Yusuf says people should take their time, and Destiny challenges that premise by saying, “What if a person knows what he/she wants.” The team breaks down Nique’s advice, which leads to an in-depth conversation about expectations during the dating stage. Professor Tee’s advice is based on her personal growth experience, and C.L. wraps things up by advising women to relax with the “WHY” questions. Hosts: Nique Crews, C.L. Butler, Nateisha & Yusuf Topic: Dear Nique Letter On today’s lunch date episode, the crew discusses a Dear Nique letter from a lady who is seeking advice about whether or not she should ask her boyfriend for a 2-month break from their relationship. The writer claims she fears they’d both regret not having more partners prior to their marriage. C.L. explains that a woman who truly loves the man she’s with certainly doesn’t want to share him with other women. Yusuf says the man would never see the woman the same after she makes a request like this. Nique thinks the writer just doesn’t want to be in a relationship anymore and is using this ploy as a way to ease out of their romance. Professor Tee plays devil’s advocate and poses the question, “What if the guy agrees, and the two of them are able to make it work?” The crew shares some of the readers’ comments, revealing that most viewers find the girlfriend’s request repulsive and risky. Hosts: Nique Crews, C.L. Butler, Nateisha & Yusuf Topic: Taking a break in relationships. On today’s episode of RSP, the crew discusses what it means to take a break in a relationship. They tackle the questions: what are the pros and cons of taking a break, do these breaks lead to closeness or distance, and what are legitimate reasons for taking a break? A popular opinion shared among the team is that a break is automatically understood to be a breakup, and the men certainly agree that having time off in a relationship is not a good idea. The crew does agree that there is one situation where they might understand the need for a break. Could a request for a break suggest the person just really wants to sleep around, without the accountability of being in a relationship? At least one of the hosts thinks that even if the aforementioned isn’t the reason, asking for a break plants the seed for the other partner to think that it’s about sex with other people. To hear the hosts break down this topic, and to hear each person discuss how he/she would handle such a request from a significant other, tune in to the full episode. Hosts: Nique Crews, C.L. Butler, Nateisha & Yusuf Topic: Mommy and Daddy Issues On today’s episode of RSP, Yusuf, Professor Tee, C.L. and Nique discuss mommy and daddy issues, and how, if left unresolved, those issues can impact the relationships you try to build with others. The ladies discuss the challenges they have faced conversing with men who are looking for a girlfriend to be a domestic replica of their mothers. The gentlemen believe men are likely to deal with women who have both mommy and daddy issues. Nique discusses how her communication with her mother can definitely use improvement. Professor Tee opens up about her biological father’s absence in her life. Yusuf explains why he struggles with giving his undivided attention to a mate who needs to narrate her emotionally challenging moments. C.L. talks about how growing up and being raised by a strong mother contributed to his confidence and ability to solve problems. He recognizes that his matter-of-fact approach to situations (not problems) can be mistakenly seen as him lacking empathy. What mommy or daddy issues do you bring to a relationship? What are you doing to address those issues? To find out more about how you can get to the root of said issues, tune in to this episode. Hosts: Nique Crews, C.L. Butler, Nateisha & Yusuf Topic: Relationship Direction On today’s mid-week episode, the team is joined by a faithful listener, Danielle Sutton. Danielle joins the team to discuss the topic, “What assets do men and women bring to a relationship?” C.L. starts the conversation by saying men bring comfortability. The women chime in and say that logic helps bring comfort to the relationship. Comparatively, Professor Tee points out that a woman’s emotions, although sometimes seen as negative, helps to bring balance. Is beauty an asset that a woman brings? Yusuf says, “Well, it depends. Everyone isn’t beautiful.” Do men bring intuition to a relationship? Nique suggests that they might. Danielle appreciates a man’s strengths, reminding us that women need someone there to help deal with the difficult stuff. Hosts: Nique Crews, C.L. Butler, Nateisha & Yusuf Topic: Relationship Direction On today’s episode of RSP, the team takes some time to share listener feedback. Comments about previously aired shows serve as a great segue into the conversation about relationship directions. Nique’s personal story leads to the question, “Should couples discuss and be able to answer the questions, ‘What are we doing, What is this called, and Where is this going’?” At the root, the team agrees that not knowing the direction a relationship is going in stems from the inability to communicate effectively. Nique discusses the frustration that comes with having the same conversation over and over. C.L. says you shouldn’t demand a lot out of a man until 7-9 months in, and Yusuf suggests it’s exhausting when a woman’s list of questions gives birth to additional questions that keep branching off. Hosts: Nique Crews, C.L. Butler, Nateisha & Yusuf Topic: Dear Nique On today’s lunch date episode, the crew reads a Dear Nique letter from a man who is reconsidering marrying his fiancé. He is uncomfortable with the changes she’s made since she began attending a particular church. Not only does she demonstrate a symbolic practice that our writer can’t understand, she also removed some spontaneity from their sex lives. C.L. thinks our writer is indeed “trippin,” and Yusuf suggests that maybe our writer should walk away if he is not ready to progress alongside her. Nique feels like what she’s doing isn’t so bad after all, and Professor Tee thinks our writer should seek first to understand, then be understood. The feedback from the listeners differs from the hosts’ overall opinion. Overwhelmingly, the popular opinion from the listeners is this man should run away as fast as he can. The crew is eager to get read or hear your reaction to this episode, so be sure to leave your comments on one of RSP’s social media platforms. Butler, Nateisha & Yusuf Topic: Relationships and Finances On today’s episode of RSP, the team discusses finances and how money issues affect relationships. “Should men with financial problems try to date, and “Is it deceptive if a spouse has a secret account?” These are two of several questions the team tackles. Nique says she would most definitely ask a man how much money he makes. Professor Tee shares how she allowed her ego to get in the way of admitting previous financial challenges. C.L. exerts that men should always put themselves in a position to take care of financial responsibilities, and Yusuf suggests that a woman asking about his salary on a first date is definitely a red flag.
