Morgen vindt een groot VVD-congres plaats, waar genoeg valt te bespreken. De partij van VVD-leider Yesilgöz krijgt de afgelopen tijd steeds meer kritiek vanuit zowel de linker- als de rechterflank, niet in de laatste plaats vanwege de twijfelende koers die de partij vaart. Oud VVD-leider Ed Nijpels blikte in de Week van Kee vooruit op dat congres en besprak de koers van zijn partij.  Eerder zou niet Nijpels, maar VVD-Kamerlid Eric van der Burg te gast zijn. Hij werd echter teruggefloten door zijn eigen communicatie-afdeling: Nijpels: "Ik vind het heel merkwaardig dat een voorlichter dit bepaalt. Ik heb dit in mijn tijd nooit meegemaakt, en dit is niet liberaal. Je moet hem niet de mond willen snoeren."  Over de koers van de VVD de afgelopen periode is Nijpels kritisch. "De afgelopen weken was het bij de VVD vooral rechts, rechts rechts. Ik vind dat het liberaal, liberaal, liberaal moet zijn." Ook over het feit dat de PVV niet direct werd uitgesloten is Nijpels niet te spreken. "De pleister het er in één keer afgetrokken moeten worden. Dilan sluit de PVV nu uit omdat het een onbetrouwbare partij zou zijn. Bij Mark Rutte ging het om de inhoud: je werkt niet samen met een partij die de rechtsstaat wenst te ondermijnen. Daar moet je als liberale partij niet mee willen samenwerken."  Of deze zaken bij het congres besproken zullen worden, is geen gegeven. Nijpels: " Bij de VVD kun je moties indienen, maar dat moest voor 30 mei. Men heeft geprobeerd de moties een beetje aan te passen aan de actualiteiten, maar het hoofdbestuur heeft gezegd: 30 mei is 30 mei. Dat vind ik een tamelijk bureaucratische redenering en buitengewoon onverstandig."  Luister de hele Week van Kee nu terug!

Het duurt nog bijna een half jaar voordat we we weer naar het stemhokje mogen, maar politieke partijen draaien al flink warm voor de aankomende verkiezingen. Politiek duider Peter Kee en hoofdredacteur van Joop.nl Francisco van Jole gingen in De Nieuws BV in gesprek over de politieke ontwikkelingen in aanloop naar die verkiezingen.  Uit onderzoek van Follow the Money en Nieuwsuur blijkt dat oud-minister Vera Bergkamp een aanzienlijk grotere rol speelt in de Arib-affaire dan tot nu toe werd gedacht. Kee: 'Het was al wel bekend dat een topambtenaar had gelogen, maar Bergkamp blijkt daar aan meegewerkt te hebben. Het ziet er zo ontzettend smerig uit, er waren ook wel mensen uit om haar terug te pakken.' Van Jole: 'Waar ik van schrik is dat ambtenaren dit doen. Als burger heb je het idee dat de ambtenarij betrouwbaar is.' Volgens Van Jole zat Arib met de kennis van nu in een zeer gecompliceerde situatie: 'Zij is echt verraden. Als je je verraden voelt, vertrouw je niemand meer. Ze wilde met niemand meer praten. Dat is een logische consequentie als je op deze manier genaaid wordt.'  Begin deze week maakte Yesilgöz bekend dat ze niet meer met de PVV wil samenwerken. De timing verraste Kee niet: 'Het past wel een beetje in het patroon van Yesilgöz. Eerst werd de deur naar Wilders opengezet, maar vlak voor de verkiezingen wilde ze niet onder Wilders in een kabinet. Toen, wilde ze gedogen, toen kwam het extraparlementaire kabinet wat totaal niet extraparlementair werd. Vorige week werd in stapjes afscheid van de PVV genomen. Dan denk je wel: wiens mening is dit nou precies, die van Yesilgöz of het denkteam erachter?'  Van Jole is het daarmee eens: "Yesilgöz heeft hele duidelijke principes, die geduid zijn op peilingen. Als je kijkt naar haar als persoon, zij is een Rutte, maar dan uitvergroot. Ze is een kameleon, voor Yesilgöz bestaat er geen gisteren.'  Luister de hele Kee en van Jole nu terug!

Geert Wilders deed deze week iets wat hij zelden doet: hij zocht de pers op door middel van een persconferentie. Daarin zei hij dat hij bereid is het kabinet te laten vallen als er niet snel strengere asielmaatregelen worden genomen. In De Week van Kee zat oud VVD-spindoctor Bas Erlings om over de actie van Wilders en de reactie van de rest van politiek Den Haag te praten.  Volgens Erlings weet Wilders goed waar hij mee bezig is. "Een populist zal altijd aanvallen. Hij vertelt nog een keer zijn verkiezingsprogramma en doet alsof het aan de rest ligt dat het niet lukt."  Ook het moment van de persconferentie is niet toevallig, volgens Erlings. "Het is even rustig in de politiek, journalisten hebben er de tijd voor." Erlings denkt dat Wilders bereid is het kabinet te laten vallen als dat nodig is. "Hij gaat er harder in dan anders, al weet niemand het precies. Maar regeren levert hem niks op. Waarom zou hij regeren als de achterban wegzakt? Dit is wel zijn grote kans om of heel hard te schreeuwen en te zeggen: ik ben de winnaar. Of om het te laten klappen op zijn thema."  Erlings geeft aan dat politiek bedrijven bij populisten anders werkt dan bij andere politici. "Populisten maken een andere deal met hun kiezers. 'Een voorzitter moet knetter-neutraal zijn', dat zegt oud-Kamervoorzitter Gerdi Verbeet (PvdA) in De Week van Kee. De huidige voorzitter, Martin Bosma (PVV), zei dit over zichzelf bij zijn aantreden. Naast die neutraliteit moet de Kamervoorzitter pal voor de belangen van de Tweede Kamer staan, legt politiek duider Peter Kee (BNNVARA) uit.  Een van de belangrijkste punten is dat Kamer op tijd en volledig geïnformeerd moet worden door ministers. Oud-voorzitter Khadija Arib maakte daar regelmatig een punt van. ‘Zo hoort het ook', vindt Verbeet. ‘Het zou goed zijn als ook deze voorzitter daar eens een punt van maakt.' Het politieke circus is na een onderbreking van twee weken deze week weer van start gegaan. Uiteraard houden ook politiek duider Peter Kee en hoofdredacteur van Joop.nl Francisco van Jole de ontwikkelingen in Den Haag nauwlettend in de gaten. Een van de boegbeelden van de Nederlandse politiek van de afgelopen jaren, Pieter Omtzigt, heeft gisteren officieel afscheid genomen. Volgens van Jole laat hij geen positief nalatenschap achter: "Als Pieter Omtzigt er niet was geweest, zaten we nu niet in deze ellende. Alle adviezen waren: ga niet met de PVV in zee."  Peter Kee plaatst wel een kanttekening bij dat verhaal. "Als kamerlid heeft hij voortdurend vragen gesteld en het kabinetten moeilijk gemaakt. Dat is begrijpelijk, al was hij ook binnen de CDA-fractie een ontzettende lastbak. Alleen konden ze dat bij het CDA niet benoemen." Kee: "Yesilgöz is vrijwel totaal kritiekloos tegenover Israël. Maar binnen de fractie en de aanhang is het aan het rommelen.
