Avenue Red proudly welcomes Owain K, the Bristol don of all things deep and co-label boss of Innate (alongside Tom Gilbert). Owain recently played at our Avenue Red event held at The Loco Klub in Bristol in March 2023, which turned into an incredible 4-hour B2B session with Avenue Red frontman Alec Pritchard. It was recorded and released as part of our Live Sessions series (link below) and the response to this collaboration was very positive! Owain's first studio mix for our main podcast series is as masterful as it is long overdue... it's a seamless, perfectly paced blend of trippy, melodic, grooving deep house & techno. Get it on! One of those underground heroes who you trust to bring you the goods and take you on a true trip. Whether as a DJ or a Producer, the experience and knowledge of Electronic music and its past manifests itself into his own next level contributions. This latest Chubby! Mix has Owain in his element for a 75 minute foray into deep house and techno music. As a producer, he goes back some 15+ years with releases on a range of labels including Dessous, Outland Records, 200 and We're Going Deep among others. His talent for smooth sounds in all he does might just be his trademark. This certainly translates to his DJing. Owain has made his bones up and down the UK with trips into Europe as well. Although Bristol is his home turf, he also has solid Welsh roots having lived and thrown parties in Cardiff over the last 2 decades. Back in 2014, he started a blog which has turned into a label with www.inn8.net. This mix is a euphoric trip into deep house, ambient techno, some slight Detroit action and a lot of melodic soul. The perfect armchair listen no doubt but sure to work on a deep dancefloor also. Well, here is a new mix from me: something compiled, executed and delivered, just because... Since we kicked off our Attic project last year; the vast majority of my DJ'ing has been centred around a housier, disco-centric sound—for which Attic is known—for both, our own events and other ad hoc DJ bookings in around town. Of course, we love our Attic sound, however; during this last little while—somewhat regrettably—I've not had much of an opportunity to sit back and relish in some other musical guilty pleasures. This particular line-up of deeper, melodic selections has allowed me to do just that. This is a very much an indulgent mix—let's make no mistake about that. Within, you'll hear some newer pieces; you'll hear some that I had stashed away for such an opportunity. Each track has moved me or has made me feel something. It's melodic, it's moody and if I've done my job correctly; you'll be taken on a journey for next 80 minutes or so. Along side his musical endeavours Mark has had a successful career working professionally as a live sound and studio sound engineer. Working predominantly within musical theater and the creative arts. His debut solo release was released in 2012 on Newcastle?s excellent Signals imprint, then followed the release of Don`t take it All Aways Featuring Vicky Jackson on Jimpster`s Freerange Records. Mark then released with Kenny Hanlon`s Apartment Records, Aquarius ft the Greg Blackman, a deep reworking of Steve Legget`s original. Previous releases by Mark have been championed by the likes of Prosumer, Russ Gabriel, Hunee, Alexander Barck, Ben Watt, Soulphiction, Session Victim, Jane Fitz, Layfar, XDB, John Heckle, Steevio, Burnski, Owain K..etc Mark has also often worked with fellow North East producer NY*AK - collaborating on keys for releases on Ninja Tunes?s Technicolour Records imprint, Vicario Records LTD (Mexico) and Local Talk.
