Modern Natives: An Illustrated Collection of Reimagined Coast Salish Myths. This is the latest from Andrea Grant. On Wake Up Tri-Counties, Deputy Assistant Police Chief Mike Minks joined Ken Peel and Jennifer Russell to share insights on the DAART program, which supports individuals battling addiction in Kewanee, Golf Outing, and National Night Out. The DAART program, revived through nearly $100,000 in grant funding, provides transportation for those seeking rehab and now includes neurofeedback therapy via licensed therapists. Kewanee's DAART program is making a significant impact in the community, helping residents struggling with addiction access vital resources and support. Deputy Chief Mike Minx, who's been with the Kewanee Police Department since 2007, shared how federal and local grant funding has revived the initiative, providing transportation to rehab and launching a neurofeedback program in partnership with licensed therapist Johanna Hager. Since January, more than a dozen participants have continued therapy on their own, thanks to successful early intervention. The program's collaborative approach, uniting police, mental health agencies, and probation, is strengthening Kewanee by breaking barriers and building supportive networks for recovery. Golf enthusiasts and beginners alike are invited to test their skills at the upcoming Kewanee Police Department FOP Lodge 233 charity golf outing. Taking place July 11th with a 10 a.m. shotgun start at Midland Golf Course, this annual event raises funds for local community causes, with previous donations supporting Amber Patch's Toy Drive and Brave Heart. Entry is $80 per person, with teams of four at $320, and single players will be paired up. The outing includes dinner, raffles, and a 50-50 drawing. JODY LYNN NYE Author & Writers of the Future Judge – Biography Jody Lynn Nye lists her main career activity as ‘spoiling cats.' When not engaged upon this worthy occupation, she writes fantasy and science fiction books and short stories. Since 1987 she has published over 50 books and more than 200 short stories. Among her novels are her epic fantasy series The Dreamland, Mythology 101 contemporary humorous fantasy series, three medical science fiction novels in the Taylor's Ark series, and Strong Arm Tactics, humorous military science fiction. Jody also wrote The Dragonlover's Guide to Pern. She also collaborated with Anne McCaffrey on four SF novels, including Crisis On Doona (a New York Times and USA Today bestseller. Jody co-authored the Visual Guide to Xanth with author Piers Anthony. She has edited two anthologies, Don't Forget Your Spacesuit, Dear!, and Launch Pad, and written two short story collections, A Circle of Celebrations, holiday SF/fantasy stories, and Cats Triumphant!, SF and fantasy feline tales. Nye wrote eight books with the late Robert Lynn Asprin, License Invoked, and seven set in Myth Adventures universe. Her newest series is the Lord Thomas Kinago humorous space opera, beginning with View from the Imperium (Baen Books). Her newest books are Moon Tracks (Baen), YA science fiction with Dr. Travis S. Rachel Lee Goldenberg is a Los Angeles-based writer/director. Her most recent film, Swiped (2025), stars Lily James as tech founder Whitney Wolfe, and premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. Swiped is Goldenberg's 10th feature, her other most recent film is Unpregnant (2020), a buddy comedy about abortion access. She began her career directing B-movies, culminating with A Deadly Adoption (2015) a meta Lifetime movie starring Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig. She also directed the pilots and additional episodes of Minx (2022) and Tiny Beautiful Things (2023), along with episodes of a dozen other show. She won an Emmy for producing Between Two Ferns: President Obama (2014). AMY LANDECKER is a dynamic actress and filmmaker known for her captivating performances across both comedy and drama in film and television.
