Discover the four essential strategies healthcare managers need to implement in order to effectively quell quiet quitting and boost employee engagement in their organizations. In this episode, you will be able to:Create a sense of ownership that boosts employee engagementSet goals and provide feedback with employees showing them career growthBuild and maintain trust so that your team become advocates for the organizationThe Problem with Quiet QuittingQuiet quitting is when employees disengage from their work and organization without making their dissatisfaction known. These individuals may continue to show up and complete their tasks, but they need more enthusiasm, motivation, and commitment. Quiet quitters often fly under the radar, making it challenging for managers to identify and address their concerns before they decide to leave. This impacts important areas of healthcare such as safety, patient experience, and voluntary turnover of not only the disengaged employees but other employees on the team as well. It may even put significant risk on global healthcare according to the National Institute for Health. The episode offers practical advice on building trust, setting goals, providing feedback, and reinforcing positive behavior within the team dynamics. By implementing the strategies discussed in this episode, healthcare managers can boost morale, foster a sense of care and connection, and provide growth opportunities for their employees, ultimately reducing turnover and improving overall team performance.Support the show
Catching Fire chapters 3-4 The PAX pox won't keep me away from recording! We've got lots to catch up on after taking a week off for travel, and we spend some time chatting about the PAX trip (thanks to everyone who came to say hi!) and Liz's exciting new musical venture. We've got two rich chapters to discuss this week too, with mostly high highs and a few low lows. What works? Katniss's character development! Peeta's new role! What doesn't work? Katniss's District 11 savior stuff still feels kind of disrespectful. What might work? The Quarter Quell, but how could they possibly make the Games more evil?! Plus, when we open card packs we learn what the Cornucopia looks like in the movie and ??????????
Today I am chatting with NY Times Bestselling author and NAACP Image Award Nominee J. Elle about her brand new YA Fantasy, House of Marionne!Take a listen as we chat about this spellbinding story, J. Elle's worldbuilding, her extensive magic system, representation in YA novels, how power corrupts, the amazing characters and plot, enemies to lovers, the world of social elites, how the idea for this story started with a tiara growing out of a head, and more! This is a YA fantasy like no other, and you won't want to miss it!Entire episode is spoiler free!A little about House of Marionne:17 year-old Quell has lived her entire life on the run. She and her mother have fled from city to city, in order to hide the deadly magic that flows through Quell's veins.Until someone discovers her dark secret. To hide from the assassin hunting her, and keep her mother out of harm's way, Quell reluctantly inducts into a debutante society of magical social elites called the Order that she never knew existed. If she can pass their three rites of membership, mastering their proper form of magic, she'll be able to secretly bury her forbidden magic forever. If caught, she will be killed. But becoming the perfect debutante is a lot harder than Quell imagined, especially when there's more than tutoring happening with Jordan, her brooding mentor and— assassin in training. When Quell uncovers the deadly lengths the Order will go to defend its wealth and power, she's forced to choose: embrace the dark magic she's been running from her entire life or risk losing everything, and everyone, she's grown to love.Still, she fears the most formidable monster she'll have to face is the one inside.A special thank you to J. Does Alzheimer's or another form of dementia run in your family? Are you afraid that you're losing your memory or that you someday will? Are you trying to support someone you love who is grappling with dementia? If any of these scenarios applies to you, you'll find this episode both enlightening and comforting. My guest, Emerson Lee, is a memory-loss doula who specializes in preparing people for the possibility of getting dementia. Emerson employs tools and strategies to help people feel less panicked and overwhelmed, and more hopeful that they can go on to live a happy and fulfilling life—with or without dementia. In this episode we discuss how people can channel their anxiety about memory loss into something more positive, such as tapping into music and other creative outlets. We examine why our culture makes it harder for patients to admit they're having memory problems and how anosognosia—the inability to recognize one's own dementia—can come into play. If you're a family member, you'll appreciate Emerson's tips for cultivating an empowering atmosphere for your loved one, developing a side-by-side (as opposed to a confrontational) communication approach, navigating the complex elder-care system, and nurturing yourself as a caregiver. I'm so excited to share with you this important conversation, which I hope will quell some of the anxiety and misconceptions you may have about living with or caring for someone with dementia.

Rapinarono in Emilia-Romagna e nelle Marche.

Have you ever found yourself in a situation with a friend where you needed or wanted to say no, but struggled to find the right way to say it? Telling anyone, especially a friend, ‘no' can be difficult, but neglecting this truth can create more problems down the road. In this episode, friendship expert Danielle Bayard Jackson encourages women to assert affirmative boundaries. This tactic can help women stay true to their needs and feel more confident in their ‘no' while maintaining strong female friendships. Danielle Social Links: You can book a private friendship coaching session here. Book Danielle Bayard Jackson -- friendship expert and educator-- to speak at your event. We save in-depth resources for our “group chat” members. Join today. To dive deeper into these topics and more, be on the lookout for Danielle Bayard Jackson's book debut: "Fighting for Our Friendships" in the spring of 2024. Saying no doesn't have to be hard. Whether you may be afraid to say no because you simply don't want to do something or because you can't, the act of saying no can still leave feelings of guilt. On the other hand, if the “yes” is falsely expressed, it can leave you feeling resentful instead. A solution? Affirmative boundaries. Here's the formula: Establish common ground, express your boundary, offer your form of “yes”. Friendship coach Danielle Bayard Jackson's technique for setting affirmative boundaries involves ending the no statement with something uplifting and positive. Don't be mistaken, some situations do require straightforward, unequivocal no's. But in other cases, providing a softer negation can buffer the sting of rejection that the friend receiving it may feel. And as our friendship expert puts it, ultimately, “If we get a little more comfortable and equipped with our affirmative boundaries or affirmative no's then it will help us to preserve our personal integrity while also maintaining connection in the friendship.” Quell the Questioning Similar to when you're the recipient of a no, a friend's decision can feel personal and it can lead to lots of questioning about the friendship. Questions as to whether she's mad or not as invested. The mind can start spinning with wonders and what-ifs. When the assertion is provided in a way that's productive – the friend clearly shares what they're comfortable with while reassuring the other that the friendship is still good and the connection is strong – it can be more helpful and bonding than expected. Say a woman invited a group of friends to her luxurious bachelorette party, which requires a lot of personal expenses to be doled out ahead of time. For one of the ladies, this financial commitment causes stress and just isn't possible at the moment. The friend shouldn't feel the need to say yes and internally feel resentful or be super apologetic and ashamed that they can't make it. It's just a no, that may look like, “No, I actually can't swing it, but when you're back, come to my place and we'll pop open some bubbly and you tell me everything!”. Showing that the friendship between women is still great and that there's truly nothing to question or worry about. Staying True To You Social situations can also feel like a bind, but remember that it's best to honor and be honest about your needs with the women that you care about (and who care about you too). If it's getting too late during a night out with the girls but they're begging you to stay, try using affirmative boundaries. No need to get fiery or aggressive with your reasoning for wanting to leave. A simple “No, not tonight but I'm looking forward to the next time” or “I'll call you tomorrow to hear all about it.” still shows that you want to show up for your friends while maintaining your own needs. Be comfortable with taking care of yourself first, otherwise you as an individual may suffer and as a result, the connections with your friends will too. Listen to the episode to get this week's homework. And if you need personalized support, consider booking a one-on-one session at Betterfemalefriendships.com.
