Rentrons avec “Ye” dans le Kanye Universe prévu pour durer tout l’été, avec cinq albums de sept titres chacun au programme. Deux ans après “The Life of Pablo”, ce petit opéra tragi-comique met en scène le roi Kanye, ses textes de plus en plus grotesques et plats, à l’interprétation de plus en plus burlesque. L’album fait certes passer des idées, des influences et innovations, mais l’on traverse la discographie de Kanye à l’intérieur même des morceaux, ce qui donne l’impression d’un grand brouillon. Incapable de se focaliser sur un registre ou une époque, Kanye semble naïf, maladroit, quoiqu’un peu touchant. Le temps qui passe risque de faire du mal à “Ye”, album potentiellement mineur dans la discographie incroyable de Kanye West, qui parvient pourtant à dessiner un portrait de ce que l’artiste est aujourd’hui. Alors on reste dans l’attente des prochains sept titres pour étoffer le croquis du rappeur, puisque l’intérêt n’est pas vraiment l’album, mais tout ce qui se passe autour.
