Interstellar wasn't a phenomenon when it dropped in 2014. Now it's widely seen as a masterpiece. It's more popular now than it was on release. How does that happen? Can we see it coming? In this solo episode, we break down the mechanics of a cultural reappraisal: why some polarizing work ages into greatness, and why other art quietly disappears. From Yeezus to Reasonable Doubt, Mr. Brightside to Cruel Summer, the pattern is more predictable than you'd think. She's not an artist. She's a timeline. Country Taylor. Pop Taylor. Indie Taylor. Villain Taylor. Billionaire Taylor. Every Swiftie is loyal to a different version — and that's exactly what makes this the hardest question in music right now. Cash The Record is back. Vol. 4. And we're going after Taylor Swift. One catalog. One pick. No mercy. "All Too Well" has ten minutes of pure devastation. "Shake It Off" is diamond-certified and inescapable. "Love Story" built an empire. "Cruel Summer" went #1 — four years after it dropped. And "Blank Space"? That's a different conversation entirely. We're not picking your favorite. We're picking the ONE song that defines who she IS — the song that represents the pivot, the shift, the moment Taylor Swift stopped being a subject and became an author. Drop your pick in the comments before I say mine. I read the first wave personally. Estimated reading time: 4 minutes Party Favorz is back with the third installment of Club Taylor [Platinum Edition], continuing our complete overhaul of the original Taylor Swift remix series while pushing these final two volumes into entirely new territory. Expanding Beyond the Original Club Taylor The first two volumes leaned more heavily into the progressive, tribal and circuit-inspired sounds commonly associated with LGBTQ dance culture and festivals, while Volumes 3 and 4 expand into a broader modern dance spectrum that incorporates sweeping EDM, Progressive House, Dubstep, Future House, NuDisco and melodic crossover remixes geared toward hardcore Taylor fans looking for something beyond the expected club formula. Rebuilding the Series From Scratch As we started rebuilding these sets from scratch, it quickly became obvious that trying to force everything into one giant mix wasn't working. Even with strong remixes, too many songs began blending together after repeated listening. Taylor's songwriting style is so recognizable that placement and sequencing became just as important as the songs themselves. That's ultimately why this project evolved into four distinct volumes instead of simply updating the original release. Many of the strongest remixes from the original Club Taylor were already doing exactly what they needed to do, so they remained untouched. Others were replaced with alternate versions that better fit the atmosphere and flow of these newer volumes. In several cases, lesser-known remixes ultimately worked better than the bigger or more obvious choices because they allowed the songs to breathe naturally instead of overwhelming them with unnecessary production tricks. That approach helped shape the overall identity of the final two volumes. A More Modern Dancefloor Experience Tracks from 1989, Reputation, Lover, Red, Speak Now, Folklore, Midnights, The Tortured Poets Department and The Life of a Showgirl all coexist here, but they do so through a much broader modern dance lens than the earlier volumes. Songs like “Down Bad,” “Fortnight,” “Bad Blood,” “Karma,” “Cruel Summer,” “The Fate Of Ophelia” and “Opalite” naturally pushed the set deeper into melodic EDM and atmospheric territory, while classics like “Out Of The Woods,” “Ready For It,” “Blank Space,” “Style,” “Wildest Dreams,” “You Belong With Me” and “Shake It Off” helped anchor the larger club energy throughout the mix. At the same time, some songs simply didn't survive the rebuild process. A few remixes stayed too close to the original productions, while others disrupted the pacing or emotional momentum we were trying to create. Even fan favorite mashups were cut if they didn't contribute something unique to the overall listening experience. In the end, these final two volumes became less about creating a straightforward Taylor Swift remix collection and more about building a long-form dance experience that evolves from beginning to end without exhausting the listener. Party Favorz really pushed itself creatively on these final two volumes and we hope fans can appreciate the time and effort that went into creating them. We'll be back Saturday with the final volume where we diverge a bit and have something to say about what's happening in the United States at the moment. Until the next time...ENJOY! Bright pop hooks, vocal house pressure, and nonstop crossover club motion run through this entire set. Stay A Little Longer opens with uplifting energy before WHERE IS MY HUSBAND?! pushes things sharper and darker into late-night territory through Guetta and Hypaton. From there, the mix moves between disco textures, emotional vocals, and rolling dancefloor momentum with Lush Life, Mystical Magical, Cruel Summer, and Goosebumps keeping the energy constantly shifting without slowing down. The second half leans deeper into afterhours emotion and late-night flow through Falling before the final mashup of I Need You to Know and COULD BE WRONG closes the set somewhere between tension, release, and vocal-driven club escape. Justin Timberlake BioSnap a weekly updated Biography.Justin Timberlake continues to generate headlines as December 2025 unfolds, with significant developments spanning his personal life, health, and career ventures. On the relationship front, Radar Online reported today that Timberlake and wife Jessica Biel, who celebrated their thirteenth wedding anniversary in October, are facing notable strain. The couple has been leading increasingly separate lives as their careers diverge dramatically. While Biel, 43, is experiencing considerable success launching her production company Iron Ocean Productions, which has generated hit series including The Sinner, Cruel Summer, and Candy, Timberlake's musical output has stalled since his 2006 breakthrough SexyBack. Insiders claim Biel has expressed frustration that the 44-year-old is contributing little to household efforts despite having a relatively light schedule. The disconnect appears philosophical as well, with sources suggesting Biel is focused on evolving her career trajectory while Timberlake appears fixated on recapturing his former pop music dominance from his twenties and thirties. On the health front, Timberlake recently revealed a significant personal health challenge. Following the conclusion of his Forget Tomorrow World Tour, the singer disclosed that he was diagnosed with Lyme disease during the tour's run. Forensic Musicologist Dr. Joe Bennett is joining us today to discuss whether Taylor Swift copied other artists for different songs off her latest album 'The Life of a Showgirl'. From discussing copying The Jonas Brothers, Jackson 5, The Pixies, and more, Dr. Joe Bennett breaks down the songs in question and explains how the songs are the same and how they are different from one another. He also teaches us what to look out for when listening to similar songs to know whether or not an artist would owe another artist credit. Plus he explains the difference between interpolation, sampling, and crediting other artists, which leads us into discussing the differences we have on songs like "The Life of A Showgirl" and what happened with Olivia Rodrigo's "Deja Vu" and "Cruel Summer". Two films DEADPIT has talked about for decades but never reviewed … until now! The season finale of Cruel Summer Slashback 2025 is here!
Episode 189: End of Summer Special 2025 (Part 1) - The Power Station & Bananarama In the United States, the Labor Day weekend marks the unofficial end of summer. Brian and Sarah just aren't ready to say goodbye to summer yet, so over the holiday weekend, they recorded a couple of episodes featuring songs that invoke the feeling of summer. Each episode in this mini-series will feature one song chosen by Brian and one chosen by Sarah. The first song up for discussion is the only one without the word “Summer” in the title. However, there's no question that it makes you think of summer and other sultry situations. Sarah selected the 1985 hit “Some Like It Hot” from supergroup The Power Station. Sarah shares chart information and reviews for the song, and she also explains the origin of the supergroup and the recording of the song. Brian is quite enthusiastic about Sarah's choice and shares memories of purchasing the album on cassette and watching the video for “Some Like It Hot” many times back in the day. As discussion turns to the video, both hosts can't contain their amusement at some of the promo's elements; Sarah even provides a bulleted list of the more notable features. To wrap up the discussion on “Some Like It Hot,” Sarah shares a bit of ‘extra credit' information about the song's use in some network television promotions, back in 1985 but also in the 2020s! Then it's time to move on to Brian's selection. His choice is “Cruel Summer” by British girl group Bananarama (NOT a certain American solo artist). Brian also provides ‘the usual' information such as chart positions, reviews, the writing and recording of the song, and his personal history. Discussion of the “Cruel Summer” video reveals a common thread—or should we say line?—between the songs in this episode: cocaine! There's also a brief James Bond reference made, although it's from Sarah, rather than Brian! The episode wraps up with Brian sharing a recent review, which are always read aloud on the show, and always very much appreciated by both hosts. Dylan and Connor are joined by Chiara Aurelia (John Proctor is the Villain, Dilaria). It's a cruel, theatre girlie summer, y'all! The twins are GAGGED to be joined by Chiara, who is currently making her Broadway debut as Shelby Holcomb in John Proctor is the Villain. "I love you, ain't that the worst thing you ever heard?" This week, we're diving deep into Taylor's ultimate summer anthem and Eras Tour favorite: "Cruel Summer" (Lover 2019). We unpack whether this song is about a problematic love interest or the speaker's own internal struggle with anxious attachment and self-imposed drama. The track brilliantly captures the gap between our cool, collected external personas and the chaotic thoughts running through our heads when we're falling for someone but trying to play it casual. Join us as we go line-by-line through one of Taylor's most iconic bridges and explore why "HE LOOKS UP GRINNING LIKE A DEVIL" resonates so deeply with fans. Whether you've screamed along at the Eras Tour or you're just discovering this track, this episode offers fresh insights into Taylor's masterfully crafted exploration of facades, vulnerability, and the relief that comes with finally being honest about your feelings.
