TESTO DELL'ARTICOLO ➜ https://www.bastabugie.it/8327IL PARTITO POPOLARE EUROPEO SALVA ILARIA SALIS, MA NON OBAJTEK di Ruben Razzante Il voto del Parlamento europeo che ieri ha confermato l'immunità parlamentare a Ilaria Salis, per un solo voto di scarto, segna una delle pagine più controverse e ipocrite della recente storia dell'Eurocamera. Non solo per l'esito, ma per le dinamiche e le reazioni che ha scatenato. Una decisione assunta al termine di un voto segreto, con una maggioranza risicatissima, dove il risultato finale - 306 voti contro la revoca dell'immunità, 305 a favore - è stato segnato da un episodio quantomeno sospetto: il malfunzionamento segnalato dal deputato Markus Ferber del PPE, che ha chiesto la ripetizione del voto, rifiutata dalla presidente Metsola.Un dettaglio tecnico, si dirà. Ma in politica i dettagli sono tutto. Soprattutto quando il risultato è determinato da un solo voto. L'interpretazione che se ne può dare, allora, non può che essere politica. Si tratta di una sentenza di salvezza per Salis che, pur avendo a suo carico accuse gravi - lesioni personali e appartenenza a un'organizzazione definita terroristica dal governo ungherese - viene graziata da un voto che non avrebbe retto a un ulteriore scrutinio, a un'analisi più trasparente, a un minimo di rigore istituzionale. E che ciò sia avvenuto con la complicità passiva del Partito Popolare Europeo (PPE) è un fatto che grida vendetta.Sì, proprio quel PPE che alla vigilia del voto aveva annunciato solennemente che avrebbe votato per la revoca dell'immunità. «Rispettiamo le regole», aveva dichiarato il leader Weber, con tono solenne, come se il PPE si volesse ergere a garante delle istituzioni. Ma alla prova dei fatti, quella dichiarazione è evaporata nel segreto dell'urna. E se è vero che le forze del centrosinistra - Verdi, S&D, The Left e Renew - potevano contare su non più di 310 voti, e alla fine i voti a favore della Salis sono stati 306, è chiaro che alcuni franchi tiratori di centrodestra hanno fatto il "miracolo".UN IPOCRITA RIGURGITO DI LEGALITARISMOEppure la retorica ufficiale del PPE resta intatta, come se l'ipocrisia potesse essere coperta da una dichiarazione preconfezionata o da un rigurgito di legalitarismo a comando. Così, mentre Salis si salva per un pelo, un altro eurodeputato, l'ex ad di Orlen, Daniel Obajtek, viene invece spogliato della sua immunità. Il Parlamento europeo vota in quel caso a favore della revoca, permettendo così l'apertura di un processo da parte delle autorità polacche. E qui sta la contraddizione più bruciante: due casi, due approcci completamente diversi.Obajtek è accusato di corruzione, un reato pesante, certamente. Ma come Salis, anche lui non ha commesso il fatto da europarlamentare. Eppure nel suo caso il Parlamento si schiera con le autorità del suo Paese e vota per l'autorizzazione a procedere. Come spiegare questa doppia morale? Perché Salis deve essere protetta e Obajtek no? La risposta è fin troppo chiara: la protezione politica è diventata il vero criterio di giudizio.Salis è ormai un simbolo, e non per i suoi meriti parlamentari (è stata eletta da pochi mesi), ma per la narrazione martirologica che la sinistra ha costruito intorno a lei, per coprire ogni tipo di valutazione giuridica. Al contrario, Obajtek non gode di alcuna simpatia nel nuovo assetto del Parlamento. È un nome legato al vecchio governo polacco del PiS, e quindi sacrificabile, anzi un bersaglio ideale per dimostrare che in Europa la corruzione viene punita. Si chiama realpolitik.Ma c'è poco di nobile in questo: c'è piuttosto la conferma che l'immunità parlamentare, che dovrebbe essere uno strumento di garanzia per l'indipendenza dei deputati, viene usata come scudo per amici e come leva punitiva per gli avversari.E chi oggi esulta per Salis - evocando parole roboanti come "resistenza", "antifascismo", "valori democratici" - dovrebbe guardare in faccia questa realtà: il salvataggio della loro beniamina non è stata una vittoria del diritto, ma una forzatura politica. Una forzatura condita da ombre - il malfunzionamento della scheda elettronica, le defezioni nel centrodestra, il voto segreto - e sostenuta da una maggioranza raccogliticcia che, in un Parlamento spaccato, ha preferito trasformare una decisione tecnica in una battaglia ideologica.UN DOPPIO GIOCO CHE NON INGANNA NESSUNOE il PPE, che doveva essere il garante dell'equilibrio, si è piegato al calcolo: non ha avuto il coraggio di difendere davvero la sua posizione, lasciando che qualche suo rappresentante facesse il lavoro sporco, votando in segreto per salvare Salis e mantenendo però la faccia pulita davanti alla stampa. Un doppio gioco che non inganna nessuno.Che credibilità può avere, d'ora in avanti, un partito che predica rigore e poi chiude un occhio? E non si può neanche invocare l'argomento dell'abuso ungherese, perché nel caso dell'altro eurodeputato, Péter Magyar - altro oppositore di Orban - il PPE ha fatto fronte comune per salvare anche lui. Un esempio di coerenza? Forse.Ma allora perché Obajtek non è stato difeso allo stesso modo? Perché la sua causa è meno "spendibile" sul piano mediatico? Perché la sua vicinanza al PiS rende più comodo sacrificarlo? È questa l'Europa dei diritti, della giustizia e dell'uguaglianza davanti alla legge? O siamo di fronte a una gestione faziosa, dove conta solo la posizione politica e non il merito dei casi?Il problema non è solo che Ilaria Salis sia stata salvata. Il problema è che il principio di imparzialità è stato calpestato. Che ci sia stato un voto chiave contestato e non verificato. Che la presidente Metsola abbia respinto la richiesta di ripetizione con una fretta sospetta. Che nessuno oggi possa dire con certezza se quel voto rifletta davvero la volontà dell'Aula. E che nel frattempo un altro deputato venga privato dell'immunità senza che nessuno si ponga troppi dubbi. Due pesi e due misure. Questa è la vera questione politica.E non basta arrampicarsi sugli specchi del garantismo o dell'antifascismo per giustificare un atto che, nei fatti, si è trasformato in una deroga alle regole per convenienza politica. La democrazia non è un'arma da brandire quando fa comodo, e l'immunità parlamentare non può diventare una coperta corta da tirare solo da un lato. O vale per tutti, o diventa un arbitrio. Depuis son élection surprise en mai 2025 en tant que maire de Gênes, Silvia Salis dynamite la scène politique italienne : nouvel optimisme progressiste, soutien à la flottille pour Gaza, administration majoritairement féminine... Au point d'avoir un destin national ? Silvia Salis a peut-être écrit son autobiographie un peu trop tôt. La bambina più forte del mondo (La petite fille la plus forte du monde, éditions Salani) : un livre pour enfants sorti en 2022 dans lequel elle raconte sa jeunesse de lanceuse de marteau. Ou comment elle a dû jouer des coudes dans un environnement masculin avant de devenir dix fois championne d'Italie et de participer à deux reprises aux Jeux olympiques. En 2025, la jeune femme passe des stades d'athlétisme à l'arène politique. Elle est en train de s'imposer dans un autre milieu à peine plus féminin : celui de la politique italienne. Sa candidature d'indépendante de centre-gauche pour la mairie de Gênes a obtenu le soutien d'une très large coalition. La réformiste séduit, de la gauche socialiste aux centristes libéraux en passant par l'attrape-tout Mouvement 5 étoiles. C'est ainsi qu'en mai 2025, elle est élue maire de la sixième ville d'Italie, à 39 ans. Une transition tout en douceur Ce passage du sport à la politique ne s'est pas fait du jour au lendemain. « Après sa carrière d'athlète, elle a eu un poste au Coni, le comité olympique italien, rembobine Massimiliano Panarari, professeur de communication politique à l'université de Modène et Reggio Emilia et éditorialiste à La Stampa. Avant cela, elle a même dirigé l'équipe d'athlétisme de la police pénitentiaire et s'est occupée du marketing à la fédération. » Des postes à responsabilité, donc, « mais aucune expérience politique directe dans la politique politicienne à l'intérieur d'un parti », note Massimiliano Panarari. Silvia Salis apporte alors de la fraîcheur au débat politique. As the Intercept notes, in June, the North Carolina Democratic Party adopted a resolution calling for a “complete arms embargo on all military aid to Israel until it ends its apartheid rule of Palestinians.” Dr. Paul McAllister, a reverend and chair of the Interfaith Caucus of the North Carolina Democratic Party, is quoted saying “AIPAC uses the muscle of their resources to oust anyone who disagrees with them regarding Israel, the conduct of Israel and the atrocities that may be committed by the government of Israel — so it is good that Deborah Ross is willing to recognize and acknowledge that.”* In more Israel news, a new aid flotilla bound for Gaza departed from Genoa, Italy last Sunday. Unlike previous flotillas however, this one carries the protection of a surprising group: Italian dockworkers. According to POLITICO EU, “Speaking at a rally on the docks of Genoa, one of Europe's largest ports, a dockworker representing the USB union said…‘Around mid-September, these boats will arrive near the coast of Gaza. If we lose contact with our boats, with our comrades, even for just 20 minutes, we will shut down all of Europe.'” Genoa has expressed unprecedented solidarity with Gaza. A food drive in the city collected “more than 300 tons of humanitarian aid…[and] over 40,000 people, including the city's mayor, Silvia Salis, joined a torchlit march through the streets in support of the [humanitarian flotilla on Saturday].” During the procession, Salis remarked “Every day I am proud to be the mayor of this city, but tonight, if possible, I am even more so.”* In yet another Israel story, Tom Artiom Alexandrovich, an Israeli cybersecurity apparatchik, who was arrested in August during an undercover operation “targeting child sex predators,” failed to appear for his court date in Nevada. Alexandrovich fled to Israel after being bailed out of jail in the U.S.; his lawyer, David Chesnoff, told the court that he told Alexandrovich not to attend the hearing. Judge Barbara Schifalacqua is now demanding that Alexandrovich appear before the court this week, but it remains to be seen whether he will actually show. This case has become politicized, with liberals and conservatives accusing one another of allowing Alexandrovich to flee the country. The government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu falsely denied that Alexandrovich was arrested at all. This from Al Jazeera.* In more sex predator news, Representatives Ro Khanna, Thomas Massie and Marjorie Taylor-Greene held a press conference this week with survivors of abuse at the hands of Jeffrey Epstein to push for full disclosure of the Justice Department's files on the case. At this conference, survivors also said they will release their own list of names. This comes amidst a renewed push for Congressional action spearheaded by the survivors. On Tuesday, the House Oversight Committee released a batch of records, but most of these have been made public before. The survivors met with lawmakers this week, including Speaker Mike Johnson, who said “I think the Oversight probe is going to be wide and expansive, and they're going to follow the truth wherever it leads,” per the Washington Post. Congresswoman Nancy Mace was also seen emerging from a meeting with the survivors visibly upset, though we do not know what exactly was discussed in this meeting. What is clear is that the Epstein story is not going away any time soon.* In local news, the National Guard has shared a statement with CBS News' Scott MacFarlane in which they boast that, “Guardsmen have cleaned more than 3.2 miles of roadways, collected more than 500 bags of trash, and disposed of three truckloads of plant waste.” Looking beyond the absurdity of deploying the National Guard to pick up trash, Samuel Littauer, Commissioner of ANC 3C01 – a local government district in Washington – crunched the numbers and found that “DC's cleaning crews cover around 81 miles/day for around $150K/day… [while the] National Guard has cleaned a total of 3.2 miles and costs more than $1M/day.” This means, “It's about 170X more cost efficient per mile to fund DC's existing work.”* Yet, despite the staggering inefficiency of the federal occupation – to say nothing of the outrageous, authoritarian government overreach – D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser has signed an order outlining how the District will “continue to work with the U.S. Marshals Service, the FBI, U.S. Park Police, the Drug Enforcement Administration, [and] the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives,” according to WTOP. This report notes that, “Bowser's order provides a path for working with federal law enforcement…[a] public indication that federal law enforcement could remain in the city indefinitely.” Other D.C. officials, including the District's delegate in Congress Eleanor Holmes Norton, have decried the occupation. Unfortunately, Norton is not even afforded the power of a single vote in Congress. This debacle further underscores the necessity for sovereign statehood for D.C.* In more news of federal law enforcement overreach, Prem Thakker of Zeteo reports new figures that show, “61,226 people are currently in ICE detention — the highest number ever in US history.” Thakker goes on to report that “According to ICE data, 70% of these people have no criminal conviction.” This unjustifiable mass detention shows no signs of slowing down, with ICE being granted larger and larger budgets and more and more latitude by the administration. The parallels to other shadowy secret police organizations throughout history continue to grow more pronounced.* Labor Notes editor Luis Feliz Leon reports Columbia University is seeking to bust graduate worker unions – at Columbia and beyond. A statement from the union reads “Over the summer, the university expelled and suspended 80 students, eliminated all but ten…graduate instructor jobs, and filed an Unfair Labor Practice Charge that could reshape the future of higher ed.” This marks yet another blow to the august reputation of Columbia, already damaged by their authoritarian overreaction to pro-Palestine protests and their capitulation to borderline extortion by Trump.* In the federal government, Trump continues to attack critical safety regulators. Reuters reports, “Two of the three remaining commissioners at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the U.S. nuclear safety watchdog, told a Senate hearing on Wednesday they feel President Donald Trump could fire them if they obstruct his goal to approve reactors faster.” Trump, via executive order, has committed the United States to, “fast-tracking new reactor licenses and quadrupling U.S. nuclear energy capacity by 2050…while also reducing staffing at the NRC.” The Commission is already down to just three members from its usual five and according to this report, “a dozen senior level managers…have left or announced they will leave since January, and…143 staff departed between January and June.” The Commission is currently considering five reactor applications and “expects another 25 to 30 soon.” Whatever one's thoughts are on nuclear energy in general, it is wildly irresponsible and dangerous to consider these reactor proposals by a commission short-staffed and constantly threatened with dismissal.* Finally, the Government Accountability Project has submitted a stunning whistleblower complaint on behalf of Chuck Borges, Chief Data Officer at the Social Security Administration. This complaint concerns “serious data security lapses, evidently orchestrated by DOGE officials, currently employed as SSA employees, that risk the security of over 300 million Americans' Social Security data…including apparent systemic data security violations, uninhibited administrative access to highly sensitive production environments, and potential violations of federal privacy laws by DOGE personnel.” The most critical violation is the DOGE staffers' move to “create a live copy of the country's Social Security information in a cloud environment that circumvents oversight.” As this complaint explains, “This vulnerable cloud environment is effectively a live copy of the entire country's Social Security information…that…lacks any security oversight from SSA or tracking to determine who is accessing or has accessed the copy of this data.” This includes “all data submitted in an application for a United States Social Security card—including the name of the applicant, place and date of birth, citizenship, race and ethnicity, parents' names and social security numbers, phone number, address, and other personal information.” If this data were to be compromised – as is eminently possible given the unsecured and unsupervised nature of the cloud copy, “Americans may be susceptible to widespread identity theft, may lose vital healthcare and food benefits, and the government may be responsible for re-issuing every American a new Social Security Number.” This staggering degree of carelessness and incompetence is almost unbelievable, if not for the fact that it comports perfectly with the DOGE track record. Il centrosinistra unito vince a Genova e Ravenna, la questione che si pongono i giornali è: cosa vorrà dire per le prossime elezioni e per il referendum dell'8/9 giugno? Condanna a Israele dopo i nuovi attacchi a Gaza, mentre si prepara una manifestazione a Roma per il 7 giugno. Macron sminuisce il "caso" nato sullo schiaffo ricevuto in diretta dalla moglie Brigitte. E la percentuale di papà che lasciano il lavoro per dedicarsi alla famiglia aumenta in Italia.

Il centrosinistra vince a Genova e Ravenna al primo turno. Taranto e Matera vanno al ballottaggio. Genova torna al centrosinistra. Silvia Salis agguanta la vittoria al primo turno e diventa sindaco. La stessa cosa avviene a Ravenna con Alessandro Barattoni. Taranto e Matera vanno al ballottaggio, dove comunque i progressisti sono avanti. Per le amministrative, centoventisei comuni al voto, due milioni di elettori hanno eletto nuovi sindaci e consigli comunali. Non c'è stato un crollo dell'affluenza che rimane stabile l'affluenza, al 56,3%. Il metodo Salis. Il risultato premia il metodo utilizzato da Silvia Salis durante la campagna elettorale. Ha messo da parte le polemiche, le divisioni, e ha scelto la strada del dialogo con i partiti, con le associazioni del volontariato laico e cattolico, ed è riuscita a ricompattare la coalizione dopo gli anni di Bucci ora Presidente della Regione Liguria. Si tratta della stessa intuizione che ha portato il centrosinistra, in particolare candidate donne, a riprendersi nei mesi scorsi l'Umbria e Perugia, a vincere a Firenze e in molte altre città. I dati delle amministrative dimostrano che quando il centrosinistra è unito e ha candidati credibili si afferma con maggiore convinzione. Ora il tema vero è come trasferire questa pratica a livello nazionale. E' vero che storicamente il maggioritario a doppio turno che prevede i ballottaggi favorisce il centrosinistra, ma è altrettanto confermato che a fare la differenza è un buon candidato che riesce ad unire, non dividere. Questo risultato è più facile ottenerlo in sede locale, nei territori, nel buon governo. I vari leader dell'opposizione nazionale dovrebbero mettere da parte l'individualismo, il protagonismo, il settarismo, la politica del particolare, e adottare invece la lezione genovese.
