Pianist, bandleader, composer Chick Corea (born June 12, 1941) is one of the most influential jazz musicians of his generation. After serving his apprenticeship with Miles Davis, Corea started a group called Return to Forever, that featured singer Flora Purim, reedman Joe Farrell and drummer/ percussionist Airto Moreira. Many of the compositions Corea penned for this band have become jazz standards. He had numerous trend setting groups of varying sizes throughout his career, featuring cutting edge sidemen and premiering new compositions on a regular basis, in addition to displaying his prodigious keyboard abilities.

Tonight's Jazz Feature is an unearthed recording, one of the many by pianist composer Andrew Hill. In an interview with Mr. Hill with Blue Note Records archivist, Michael Cuscuna, Andrew mentioned the many unreleased sessions he recorded for Blue Note naming all the personnel. Hill said some were good and some were just okay. All were eventually released except for one which he said he was very happy with. Cuscuna as soon as he left Hill went into the Blue Note archives looking for this session that Hill mentioned but alas the tape was out of phase and unuseable. Cuscuna persisted and in a few weeks he was rewarded with finding a faultless multi-track tape of the session that had been misfiled. He brought it to Hill and Andrew was elated. The session was released in 2003 and drew accolades from critics and fans alike and was hailed as 'the discovery of the year". The album features 7 Hill compositions played by two great trumpeters: Woody Shaw and Dizzy Reece, trombonist Julian Priester, Robert Northern on French horn, Howard Johnson on tuba and bass clarinet and multi-instrumentalist Joe Farrell on tenor and soprano saxophones, English horn, bass clarinet and alto flute. Mr. Hill is on piano with Ron Carter on bass and a young Lenny White on drums. The album was called "Passing Ships" and it's a latter day classic and tonight's Jazz Feature.

Colleen 'Cosmo' Murphy is joined by the 80-year-old Queen of Brazilian Jazz, Flora Purim, from her home in Brazil to discuss her iconic 1973 LP 'Butterfly Dreams'. Influenced by both traditional Brazilian singers and the improvisations of American jazz divas like Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan, Flora Purim was one of the most adventurous singers of the 1970s. After meeting and marrying her husband, percussionist Airto Moreira, in their native Brazil, Purim moved with him to the U.S. in the late '60s. Though she worked with Stan Getz and pianist Duke Pearson before the decade ended, it wasn't until joining Chick Corea, Joe Farrell, Stanley Clarke, and Moreira in the original Return To Forever in 1972 that she became well known in the States. Purim showed considerable promise on Forever classics like '500 Miles High' and 'Light As a Feather' and lived up to it when she went solo with 1973's 'Butterfly Dreams'.

Matt is joined by Funny or Die CEO Mike Farah and chief creative officer Joe Farrell to talk about the state of comedy in Hollywood, why there are less and less hit comedy movies in theaters, social media's impact, making comedy in today's culture, and a movie studio's incentive to take risks on a comedy without a star. Sunbury Press Founder Lawrence Knorr sits down with "Keystone Tombstones" authors Joe Farrell and Joe Farley for a "History Through Biography" discussion on three pivotal figures of the American Revolution. Charles Thomson served as Secretary of the Continental Congress during its existance from 1774 to 1789. The Irish-born native was an early leader in the American Revolution, a key member of the Philadelphia-based Sons of Liberty and credited with co-designing the Great Seal of the United States. Another of the Founding Fathers, Gouvernor Morris was a signatory of the Articles of Confederation, the author of the Preamble to the US Constitution and represented Pennsylvania at the Constitutional Convention in 1787. He also served as a Senator for New York State and a Minister to France, where he was highly critical of that nation's revolution. While it would appear there could be nothing new to tell about Benjamin Franklin, Lawrence and the Joes go into not only his many accomplishments during America's early years and his contributions to science, they also discuss his estrangement with his son, William and aspects of his personal life. The recent Ken Burns Biography of Franklin also comes under review.

Aviso 3: las explicaciones de las categorías las desarrollo en el podcast, que si no esto habría sido una maldita Biblia.💥 Efectos visualesDUNEPaul Lambert, Tristan Myles, Brian Connor y Gerd NefzerFree GuySwen Gillberg, Bryan Grill, Nikos Kalaitzidis y Dan SudickNo Time to DieCharlie Noble, Joel Green, Jonathan Fawkner y Chris CorbouldShang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten RingsChristopher Townsend, Joe Farrell, Sean Noel Walker y Dan OliverSpider-Man: No Way HomeKelly Port, Chris Waegner, Scott Edelstein y Dan SudickGANARÁ: DuneDEBERÍA GANAR: Dune🔊 SonidoDUNEMac Ruth, Mark Mangini, Theo Green, Doug Hemphill y Ron BartlettBelfastDenise Yarde, Simon Chase, James Mather y Niv AdiriNo Time to DieSimon Hayes, Oliver Tarney, James Harrison, Paul Massey y Mark TaylorThe Power of the DogRichard Flynn, Robert Mackenzie y Tara WebbWest Side StoryTod A. The ‘Verse Squad chats with Academy Award-nominated behind ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,' Christopher Townsend, Joe Farrell, Sean Noel Walker, and Dan Oliver. This was an extra big deal for us because this was the only movie of 2021 (and 2022 so far!) that The 'Verse! gave top ratings to across the board. We know none of the elements we praised—the performances, the choreography, the story itself—would have landed without the film's dedicated and talented visual effects team of Christopher Townsend, Joe Farrell, Sean Noel Walker, and Dan Oliver. In addition to their VFX work delivering amazing visual for viewers' eyes, it helps set the mood for each scene, adds depth to characters, and much, much more. We chatted about their work on the film; novel opportunities afforded by an origins story for a lesser known hero, inspirations for going into film, and the unexpected challenges of tiny details.
The Battle of Gettysburg, July 1 to 3, 1863, was a key turning point in the Civil War. Covered in this episode are Major General John Fulton Reynolds, Gettysburg citizen John Burns, and Colonel John White Geary. The guys discuss why Reynolds declined President Lincoln's invitation to command the Army of the Potomac, only to fall on the first day of battle. Would he have trapped Lee? Would Grant have become the leader of all Union forces? Who would have become president? Regarding Burns, his prior exploits and age are discussed as well as his appearance on the battlefield. At one point, he was a national hero, only to be a derelict near the end of his life. John White Geary was the first Post Master of San Francisco during the Gold Rush, the mayor of that city, the governor of the territory of Kansas during "Bleeding Kansas," and twice the governor of Pennsylvania in addition to his military service.

When Joe Farrell, PT, M App Sci, DPT, FAAOMPT, FAPTA graduated from physical therapy school, residency programs in the United States didn't exist. So, motivated by a physical therapist he learned from early in practice, Joe set off to learn in Australia - where he would stay for 2 years. Soon after returning, Joe would be recruited to the Kaiser Orthopedic Manual Therapy Residency program and begin his own clinic. When the director of the program asked Joe to attend a meeting of the now 8 residency program directors, he did - and would end up getting elected as the first president of their new Academy - AAOMPT. Joe is one of the few physical therapists who have been a clinician for over 40 years while also being heavily involved in leadership. On this show, he shares the perspective that kept him going so long and what issue is still keeping him engaged today._____________________Continue the discussion and become a better clinical thinker in our facebook group, Mindful Clinicians.

Host: Nick Tommarello.
Today's news is about Trump. Most horrendous president in the world. He joined the two fundraisers last Friday. That was organised by Stephen Ross and Joe Farrell. As a result, it raised a total $12 million. New York Post reported, Trump showed his mimicking Japanese and Korean accents. And talked about his love of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. “If I hadn't been elected president, we would be in a big, fat, juicy war with North Korea.” He mentioned that Kim Jong Un only smiles at him. It sounds like a teenage girl fall in love with a cool handsome PE teacher. Trump doesn't care him forcing his students running a track all day. Then, Trump showed his fake Japanese accent to recount the meeting last month with Shinzo Abe. I made a Podcast about the visit in Japan. Please listen if you are curious. Anyway, here is the lines from the original article. Trump spoke about his friendship with Abe and how fascinated he was with Abe's father, who had been a kamikaze pilot. Wow, wow, wow, easy man. Easy! Firstly, his father was not a Kamikaze Pilot. This is total bullshit. His father was also politician. Ever made any patriotic act during the war. Anyway please listen the next line. Trump asked Abe if the kamikaze pilots were drunk or on drugs. Abe said no, they just loved their country. Trump remarked, “Imagine they get in a plane with a half a tank of gas and fly into steel ships just for the love of their country!” This is totally inappropriate. But, I get that humor how ridiculous the idea of human bomb was. With all respect I would never go to the central Australia with a half of the tank of gas. It's suicide. Nevertheless PM Abe praised Trump as World Peace Noble Prize last year. Seems like it said “Thanks for making such a mess in our region!” I mean the upcoming the trade war between Japan and South Korea. Trump mentioned South Korea as “a thriving country” in that fundraiser. I believe there is no win for both of us. I might make an episode about that in the future. The third drummer/leader in this month's series is the redoubtable Elvin Jones. Elvin was one of the most unorthodox and innovative drummers in Modern Jazz History and he really became well known after spending the years 1960 through 1965 as an important part of John Coltrane's "classic quartet". After Coltrane and a short stint with Duke Ellington, Elvin led his own bands of various sizes but one of his finest ensembles was his Trio. It consisted of the versatile Joe Farrell on tenor and soprano saxophones and flute/alto flute and piccolo. Joe is a strong voice. On bass was Elvin's long time bandmate Jimmy Garrison. They gigged and did a couple of albums for Blue Note and tonight's Jazz Feature is the first one called "Puttin' It Together". The cohesion and the variety provided by the various horns played by Farrell make this an extremely satisfying group despite it's size. Seven tunes and seven different moods make up the date. Compositions by Garrison, Jones, Farrell and some standards make "Puttin' It Together" a wonderful musical experience. Check it out!
Joe Farrell discusses the Joey Travolta Film Camp, Arts for Autism, and Evolve coaching. Joe moved to Pittsburgh in 2008 to pursue his Master's of Science in Education and Community Agency Counseling degree from Duquesne University and began working with children and young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders, Attention Deficit Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, and Substance Abuse Disorders. His main focus is empowering individuals to live independent and integrated lives. Joe incorporates techniques from Behaviorism, Cognitive Therapy, and Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy into his Coaching. Joe enjoys hiking, biking, and backpacking and he is also a member of the Steel City Beard and Moustache Club, where he gets to talk about having facial hair and host charitable events for local Non-profit Organizations.
Joe Farrell joins me in the studio for Chapter 45 of The Chapter of the Architech!
Chick Corea moved from the bubbling chauldron of Miles Davis' band to the adventurous quartet called "Circle" and soon after left Circle in late 1971 to form "Return to Forever". Return to Forever combined flamenco, bossa nova, samba and Afro-Brazilian rhythms to the mix. The music was accessible, light, lyrical but deep as well. The instrumentation of Return to Forever combined the vocals of Flora Purim with the flute and soprano saxophone of Joe Farrell with the virtuoso bass of a young Stanley Clarke and the drums and percussion of Airto Moriera. Chick Corea played Fender-Rhodes electric piano exclusively with RTF. The four extended compositions heard on this, their first recording are by Corea, This recording was done in February 1972 and ironically was not released in North America until 1975. It became an instant hit and a classic in it's style. RTF brought depth to a lyrical and light style of music that is always pleasing to the ear.
