In this sermon, Pastor Austin emphasizes the critical role of context in reading the Bible effectively. Poor reading—ignoring literary style, historical background, or surrounding verses—can lead to misunderstanding, misrepresenting God, and even harm. The speaker introduces four key principles (Bible as a library, written for us but not to us, never read a Bible verse alone, all points to Jesus) to help everyday readers interpret scripture accurately with humility. Ultimately, proper reading reveals the Bible's unified story leading to Jesus and protects against twisting verses to fit personal agendas.

In this sermon "Who I am in light of who God is," Pastor Patrick Austin explored Genesis 1:26-31 to address the fundamental question of human identity in a world full of lies and confusion. He began by establishing that since the Bible starts with "In the beginning, God" rather than "In the beginning, man," we must understand ourselves in comparison to God, not as the standard ourselves. Pastor Austin presented four Biblical truths that counter prominent worldly lies about identity. First, we are created by God in His image, meaning we're designed to live godly lives and in relationship—not that we are God ourselves. Second, we are blessed with God-given purpose to fill the earth with worshipers and subdue creation through faithful stewardship—not to determine our own purpose. Third, we are sustained by God as dependent creatures who need our heavenly Father's provision—not self-sufficient beings. Fourth, we are loved by God, with Him declaring His creation "very good"—not unlovable as many believe. The pastor emphasized that Jesus Christ, as "the image of the invisible God" (Colossians 1:15), is the key to understanding our true identity. Only through Christ can we truly know what it means to be made in God's image and have our broken identity restored. Pastor Austin challenged both believers and non-believers to reject the enemy's lies and embrace the Biblical truth of who God created them to be. WE'D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU! In this message, Pastor Austin uses a plant illustration to contrast temporary appearances with true spiritual vitality, drawing from Psalm 1 to describe the blessed life as a tree planted by streams of water—fruitful, unwithering, and prosperous in every season. The core message warns that lives can look healthy on the surface while slowly wilting if disconnected from God, urging honest assessment of spiritual, relational, emotional, and physical trajectories. True thriving comes from being deeply rooted in Christ (identity), love, community (the house of the Lord), and the Word of God, enabling an evergreen life that bears fruit regardless of age or hardship.

In this sermon Pastor Austin reflects on 2025, encouraging the congregation to remember God's faithfulness in both triumphs and trials. Drawing from Psalm 105, it calls for gratitude, praise, and recalling God's deeds to fuel present faith. Key reviews include series on unhurried habits for soul rest, David's life as a model of devotion and repentance, and the Church's role in fostering genuine community over digital substitutes. The message celebrates Church wins like salvations, healings, and stories of transformation, while inviting worship regardless of the year's highs or lows.

Pastor Austin challenges us to find Jesus in our everyday lives, in the ordinary and quiet of life. What routine in your life feels small, but could become sacred if you invited God into it?

Pastor Austin continues our Advent series with Jesus' unexpected entrance.
In this message, Pastor Austin Porter teaches that Jesus gave up His place in heaven to bring heaven to earth, modeling humility, obedience, and sacrificial love. Drawing from Philippians 2 and John 1, he emphasizes that life is not about us but about Jesus, and that His mission of bringing the Kingdom of Heaven is now our mission. He explains that true family and love are found when believers invest and get involved, following Jesus' example of selfless service. Pastor Austin challenges listeners to live out love by leading even when it's hard, valuing others above themselves, owning their role, and embracing the process of building God's Kingdom. He concludes by calling believers to change the world one life at a time through discipleship, empowered by the Holy Spirit, so that people far from God can experience life in Christ.
Pastor Austin's sermon retells the story of the Magi from Matthew 2 through the perspective of a skeptical astronomer who embarks on a difficult journey following a mysterious star. Despite doubt, hardship, and moments of wanting to quit, he discovers overwhelming joy upon finding Jesus, worships Him, and returns transformed. The core message is that true joy is found in the presence of Jesus, God speaks subtly to draw us into relationship, and encountering Him changes us permanently.

"If there is one thing that the Eternal Son can never experience, it is experience itself." Hebrews 2:10
In this sermon "Comfort in Sorrow," Pastor Patrick Austin begins a new Advent series exploring passages in Isaiah that prepare our hearts to celebrate Christ's coming. Focusing on Isaiah 40:1-11, Pastor Austin observes that while the Christmas season offers temporary comforts through traditions and material things, we're all searching for something deeper—a comfort that truly saves and soothes our weary souls. The sermon reveals that just as the Israelites in Babylonian exile needed God's comfort, we too need the same message: "Comfort, comfort my people, says your God" (Isaiah 40:1). Pastor Austin explains how this passage points to Christ in three ways: the promise of comfort (God's forgiveness and love), the person of comfort (Jesus as the fulfillment of Isaiah's prophecy), and the proclamation of comfort (the good news that Jesus has come and will come again). He concludes with practical applications: rest in God's promise that He hasn't forgotten us, receive Jesus as the only true source of comfort, and proclaim this message to others who are searching for hope during the Christmas season. The first Sunday of Advent explores the theme of hope through the story of Zechariah and Elizabeth, an aging, childless priestly couple who had given up on their deepest longing. Told from Zechariah's first-person perspective, the message reveals how God breaks into seasons of barrenness and disappointment with miraculous intervention, showing that no prayer is forgotten and that hope arrives first to the hopeless—setting the stage for the greater arrival of Jesus.

We are headed into an AI-dominated world. Some might think that statement an exaggeration, but if you turn on the news, you'll quickly notice that artificial intelligence is everywhere you look and negatively impacting the next generation. In today's message, Pastor Austin addresses this subject directly; encouraging the church to think Biblically about the rise of AI, its current impact on the modern church, and the way it may be used in the future deception that is to come.
Faith goes beyond covenant. God is bound to His Word—He always holds up His end of the covenant. When you see yourself as He sees you—righteous, loved, and chosen—you position yourself to receive an outpouring of grace.
In this sermon on James 2:14-26, Pastor Patrick Austin tackles the seemingly contradictory Biblical teachings about faith and works. He establishes that Scripture doesn't contradict itself, then explains that James is combating a false belief that how you live after professing faith doesn't matter. The pastor articulates that "a saving faith in Jesus evidences itself through a life of good works done to the glory of God." Pastor Austin identifies two key evidences of genuine faith: showing heartfelt care for the needy rather than offering empty words, and living in obedience rather than merely voicing intellectual belief. He illustrates these principles through Abraham and Rahab, who both demonstrated their faith through concrete actions. Abraham's willingness to sacrifice Isaac and Rahab's protection of the Israelite spies weren't attempts to earn God's favor but confirmations that their faith was genuine. The pastor concludes by challenging us to examine our faith, place our trust in Jesus, and actively demonstrate our faith through serving others and walking in obedience. WE'D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU! "Do you know what a slave needs to know? He needs to know that his Master has spoken clearly." Hebrews 2:1-4
Send us a textIn this episode, our host has a thoughtful conversation with Pastor Austin McCann about the diverse ways people encounter Christ and begin their faith journey. While some stories of salvation seem simple and clear, others are marked by struggle, questions, and even deep anxiety. Pastor Austin helps us unpack the reality that there is no single blueprint for coming to faith—God works uniquely in every heart.A significant part of the discussion centers on scrupulosity, a form of religious anxiety often tied to OCD-type thinking, where individuals become overly preoccupied with sin, confession, or the fear of not being “saved enough.” This intersection of mental health and spirituality can create heavy burdens for believers who long to follow Jesus but feel trapped in cycles of doubt and guilt. Pastor Austin shares wisdom and pastoral insight on how the church can come alongside those wrestling with these struggles, offering compassion, patience, and the hope of God's grace. If you've ever wondered whether your faith story “measures up” or struggled with relentless thoughts about salvation, this conversation will remind you that God's love isn't bound by formulas or checklists. Instead, it's an invitation into a relationship—one that meets us in our questions, our weaknesses, and even our mental health battles.Emerge.org "You Don't Have to Walk Alone" Emerge.org - "You Don't Have to Walk Alone" Support the showContact Us: Email the show: experience@emerge.org Emerge.org facebook.com/EmergeCounselingMinistries Thank you for listening, sharing, and praying for our podcast!Support the ExEm podcast by clicking here:https://www.buzzsprout.com/882700/support
