As the season draws to a close, Kevin contemplates whether the Eagles genuinely require need the bye week to enhance their chances for a successful playoff run. He questions if it would be prudent for the Eagles to begin limiting certain players' playing time as the playoffs near, emphasizing the potential importance of rest. The show also pays tribute to baseball legend Rickey Henderson, who sadly passed away at the age of 65. Known as the King of the Stolen Base, his contributions to the sport are celebrated. Meanwhile, the Phillies appear satisfied with their offseason activities, a sentiment that does not resonate well with Kevin Cooney and Austin Jones. While MLB analysts still regard the Phillies as the second-best team in the National League, a closer examination of the roster raises doubts about their status as true World Series contenders. On the latest edition of Tunnel Vision, USCFootball.com's Ryan Abraham, Shotgun Spratling and Jack Smith are in studio discussing the first ever loss in the Coliseum during the Lincoln Riley era, a 34-32 heartbreaker at the hands of Utah. After the game winning field goal as time expired, Riley and quarterback Caleb Williams are now 0-3 against the Utes over the past two seasons. After getting blown out on the road against Notre Dame, USC was looking to bounce back and get some revenge against a Utah squad that was extremely banged up. Backup quarterback Bryson Barnes stepped up his game, completing 14 of his 23 passes for three touchdowns and one interception and safety Sione Vaki dominated on offense with 9 rushes for 68 yards and 5 catches for 149 yards and two touchdowns. The Utes had 482 yards of offense, their highest total of the season. The Trojans offense had success running the ball with MarShawn Lloyd and Austin Jones rushing for nearly 10 yards a pop, but the duo only got 12 carries which limited their impact. Williams was 24 of 34 for 256 and didn't have a touchdown but did have the go-ahead TD scramble late in the fourth quarter. In this edition of the Peristyle Podcast hosts Ryan Abraham and Chris Trevino are back in studio LIVE talking about the the latest news and notes from USC spring practices. Last week hours after their show the Trojan football team got some great news when five-star tight end Duce Robinson announced on Instagram that he was committing to USC. Since they we have heard from head coach Lincoln Riley and tight ends coach Zach Hanson about what it means to the team that Robinson will now likely be a Trojan this fall (as long as he doesn't skip college football and play professional baseball). There was also other tight end talk in practice this week with Utah linebacker transfer Carson Tabaracci now playing tight end and getting a ton of reps with the departures and injuries at that position. The guys also discuss some of the other big storylines from practice including hearing from the outgoing offensive lineman Cooper Lovelace for the first time, the added depth in the running backs room and what Austin Jones and Darwin Barlow had to say on Tuesday, Norm Chow, Uchenna Nwosu and Amon-Ra St. Brown attending practice and the upcoming live scrimmages for the Trojans this Saturday and then the spring game on April 15. USC had a busy weekend with the transfer portal and that means the roster received an influx of talent. Including the restocking of the running backs room with a couple of veterans. Coach Harvey Hyde, on the one year anniversary of USC hiring Lincoln Riley, discusses the win over Notre Dame and finishing the season 11-1

Exactly one year ago today USC athletic director Mike Bohn shocked the college football world and hired head coach Lincoln Riley away from Oklahoma. What a difference a year makes, going from 4-8 to 11-1 with a shot at the Pac-12 Championship, the College Football Playoffs and a Heisman Trophy winner. Coach Harvey Hyde gives his thoughts on the quick and decisive turnaround Riley has made for this Trojan football program, capped by the controlling 38-27 victory over rival Notre Dame Saturday night in the Coliseum. Coach Hyde talks about the huge national exposure this USC football team is receiving with fans excited and alumni fired up about the program, right where he thinks the Trojans should be.  For the second week in a row Hyde loved the way this USC defense was able to take away the soul of both the UCLA and Notre Dame programs, running the football. The defense played hard and fast and forced both the Bruins and the Irish to play outside of their comfort zone instead of relying on their bread and butter, run-first mentality. Once again the Trojans were able to take care of the ball and force turnovers, doing just enough to allow the offense to keep ND in the distance. Speaking of the offense, quarterback Caleb Williams continues to mystify and frustrate opposing defenses by showing off his moves and abilities and having fun while he's doing it. Coach Hyde loves that this offense believes it can run the football now and thinks Austin Jones is a great back who runs hard and it really hard to stop. Williams has proven himself to be the most important player in the country when it comes to his team winning and Hyde thinks he is a lock to become USC's eighth Heisman Trophy winner. Looking ahead to Friday night in Las Vegas Coach Hyde thinks USC is a different team now and that the Trojans have come together as a program. The game with Utah in Salt Lake City should be very different than the Pac-12 Championship Game in Las Vegas and Coach Hyde wants to see USC try and take away the Utes ground game and of course limit tight end Dalton Kincaid's contributions this time around. Where Coach Harvey Hyde ranks USC's 48-45 win over UCLA in Mount Rushmore of Rose Bowl games

Peristyle Podcast - USC Trojan Football Discussion

This week on the Peristyle Podcast Coach Harvey Hyde and Ryan Abraham give their thoughts on a very special game for the USC football team, not just for the young Lincoln Riley era, but for the history of the Trojan football program and the Rose Bowl itself. After falling behind 14-0 early on, Riley and the Trojans fought back thanks to the arm of Caleb Williams, the legs of Austin Jones and the turnovers forced by USC's opportunistic defense, none bigger than former five-star Korey Foreman's interception of Dorian Thompson-Robinson during UCLA's last minute comeback attempt. The guys also talk about how injuries impacted the game with the loss of one very important player, running back Travis Dye, and the return of what turned into another very important player, wide receiver Jordan Addison. With Dye out for the remainder of the season Jones knew he would have to step up and he used Dye as inspiration, writing the No. 26 on his wrist in tribute to his fallen teammate. Jones didn't disappoint, rushing 21 times for 120 yards and two touchdowns and adding four catches on as many targets for 57 yards. And after a quiet return against Colorado last week Addison broke out big time, catching 11 passes on 13 targets for 178 yards and a 35-yard touchdown that Williams dropped perfectly into his arms down the right sideline. After the game the rush of emotions from players and coaches out on the field were tangible. The Trojans took the high road during the week and didn't make any comments about their hatred towards UCLA or what they planned to do, unlike DTR, who declared they would put up 60 on USC like they did last year. The guys took all of that in and let their play speak for itself Saturday night and when it was over there was an outpouring of emotion everywhere you looked. Players gathered around the Victory Bell taking their turns to ring it, putting up four's-down hand signals and joining in with the Trojan Marching Band as they played Tusk almost on repeat after the game. There were also long embraces between players and coaches including guys who had difficult journeys in their USC playing career to get to a place this high. Foreman stands out for sure, but guys like Kyle Ford and Tuli Tuipulotu and Calen Bullock who were on this 4-8 squad last year and are enjoying every minute of what Tuipulotu called their "revenge tour." Somehow in Riley's first campaign at Troy he has his squad in the Pac-12 Championship game after his 10-1 overall start and 8-1 in conference and there is even more to play for beyond a conference title. His Trojans, with a win over Notre Dame next weekend, will likely be playing for the program's first College Football Playoff berth in Las Vegas. If USC wins out and finishes Pac-12 champions at 12-1, it seems highly unlikely that the committee would leave the Trojans out. There is still a long way to go, but for all of this to be on the table in Riley's first campaign is remarkable. Please review, rate and subscribe to the Peristyle Podcast on Apple Podcasts! USC vs Cal had many highlights for USC and Caleb Williams as he threw for 360 yards and 4 TD. Lincoln Riley called a great game with Travis Dye, Raleek Brown, Michael Jackson III, Austin Jones, Tahj Washington, Terrell Bynum, Brenden Rice, Kyle Ford, Josh Falo, and Lake McRee. On the other side Jack Plummer, Jaydn Ott, DeCarlos Brooks, J. Michael Sturdivant, Jeremiah Hunter, Mavin Anderson, Monroe Young, Keleki Latu, Damien Moore, and Justin Wilcox all played well against this USC defense that needs to improve under Alex Grinch. Host of Ideal Conditions, Tyler Kern, sat down with both Victor Games-Bazan, business unit manager, and Austin Jones, business development specialist, of Polygon's West division to talk about how the work has been and what special issues the team has to solve. With the aim of providing insulation for buildings of all types undergoing construction, the West Team has had the interesting experience of working with cities that are often seen as having “perfect weather.”When talking about a job for the San Diego court house, Games-Bazan said it was an ideal project for showcasing their abilities. “That building was twenty-two stories. We conditioned all of that from beginning to end,” he explained. With a project so large, this process ensured the team met the specifications of those working on the building. “The customer, Turner Construction, actually built us a twenty-two-story scaffold that went up the side of the building, wrapped it in shrink-wrap, insulated it, and that's what we actually used to distribute the air into the building,” Games-Bazan described. The USA has many different regions that all have their own ecosystems, which can make construction work a very different operation depending on where it's being done. Regarding how to deal with the various climate types, Jones said, “Cities in and of themselves can create microclimates, so a downtown metro filled with skyscrapers, those buildings will retain heat and will naturally be a warmer area than somewhere that's more rural, dense vegetation, away from the coast.” Jones also mentioned that, when working in these cities, his team also does research on weather by looking at historical data to see what the climate has been like in the past, going even as far back as a hundred years.

Stanford Football is coming off just its second losing season since 2009--both have come in the last three years. With the rules slanted in favor of the offense, McKee was sharp completing 8 of 10 passes including 3 touchdowns with no interceptions. Without a way to register "official points" the Stanford defense looked much improved in the run defense department from a season ago.On this episode of Locked On Pac-12, Spencer McLaughlin, takes a look at how the Stanford Cardinal have been gearing up this Spring for what they hope will be a bounce back 2022 campaign. With the offense grabbing the headlines from what David Shaw called a "glorified scrimmage", there were several offensive standouts who will probably see major playing time this Fall. RB EJ Smith IV is poised to take the lead ball-carrier role from Austin Jones (transferred to USC), and he looked like a true #1 running back in the scrimmage. WR Media Reuben and TE Sam Roush, both true freshmen who are early enrollees, were also among the offensive standouts. If Stanford is going to avoid back-to-back losing seasons under David Shaw (it would be the first time that happened), the Cardinal need to get back to their roots. As an offensive coach, David Shaw has always wanted to play power football to establish a running game, and that (along with a physical defensive front) is what Stanford needs to get back to in order to compete in the Pac-12 North. After bringing in the 19th-best class of incoming freshman in the Class of 2022, one question going forward is how much those young players will be able to contribute for the Cardinal this year.Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!Built BarBuilt Bar is a protein bar that tastes like a candy bar. As an offensive coach, David Shaw has always wanted to play power football to establish a running game, and that (along with a physical defensive front) is what Stanford needs to get back to in order to compete in the Pac-12 North. After bringing in the 19th-best class of incoming freshman in the Class of 2022, one question going forward is how much those young players will be able to contribute for the Cardinal this year. On this week's Inside the Trojans' Huddle, panelists Marc Kulkin, Chris Arledge, Erik McKinney, and Greg Katz review the spring game with emphasis on the offense and defensive performances. In addition, the panel reacts to the spring game atmosphere and how the game came across on ESPN. Also, “Musings with Arledge” commentary, the NFL draft as it pertains to USC draft eligible players, and viewer questions and panel answers. Among the specific conversation topics: The panel evaluates the spring game offensive performances of quarterbacks Caleb Williams and Miller Moss, the running back productivity of transfers Travis Dye, Austin Jones, and Darwin Barlow, the wide receivers/tight ends led by Mario Williams, the efficiency of the offensive line, and the general overall impressions of Lincoln Riley's offensive schemes and concepts.  On defense, the panel discusses the overall defensive scheme and its spring game effectiveness. , The panel responds to Saturday's defensive performance: encouraging or discouraging? The panel raves about the play of the defensive lineman Tulo Tuipulotu. There is overall discussion on the depth of the front seven from what was seen in the spring game and what needs to be added to the talent pool. The panel also gives their overall review of the secondary led by several youngsters against a talented group of USC recievers. The halftime discussion revolves around the spring game Coliseum attendance numbers and the atmosphere of the game in front of live fans. What was it like at the Coli and how did the game perception come across on ESPN.  After the “Lighting of the Coliseum Torch” between the third and fourth quarter of “Inside the Trojans' Huddle”, it's again time for the always entertaining and sometimes controversial “Musing with Arledge” with Chris Arledge, whose topic this week is Pac-12 officiating and Saturday's spring game targeting call that wasn't. Arledge gets off like nobody else can. Fasten your seatbelts. The panel also gives their thoughts on the upcoming NFL draft and which Trojans will be smiling and which players will be faced with a dose of hardcore reality. Obviously, wide receiver Drake London gets high predictions, but what about the other draft eligible players like running backs Keaontay Ingram and Vavae Malepeai? And what about outside linebacker Drake Jackson, is he a wildcard in the draft process? Who will be draft winners and draft disappointments? And, of course, in the “Overtime” period, it's viewer questions and panel answers with a question about the Trojans NIL and assistants coaches. #USCTrojans #USC Football #CFBNews #USC Subscribe for more USC football coverage: www.on3.com/teams/usc-trojans/ USC Trojans videos from Los Angeles, California from the staff of WeAreSC. In this edition of the Peristyle Podcast hosts Ryan Abraham and Chris Trevino return to the studio to put a bow on USC's spring football game in front of a Coliseum spring game record crowd of over 33,000 that was shown live nationally on ESPN. Head coach Lincoln Riley wanted to showcase all of the work the players and coaches put in over the past five weeks and in our opinion they accomplished that objective. The entire atmosphere around the Coliseum was extremely welcoming with events for all of the fans in attendance and the product on the field was also intriguing, with two live 15-minute halves of football that gave the feeling of an actual game. The new players were finally introduced to Trojan fans (and the media) and everyone came away from the game with a better understanding of who those players are and how this team could potentially look when they kick off against Rice on September 3. Quarterback Caleb Williams came in with a lot of hype and he delivered, throwing a pair of touchdown passes to his former Oklahoma teammate Mario Williams. Former SEC linebackers Shane Lee and Romello Height also made positive impressions with their play on the field and leadership off of it. Former Pac-12 stars like former Oregon running back Travis Dye, former Stanford running back Austin Jones, former Colorado wide receiver Brenden Rice and former Washington receiver Terrell Bynum all looked good wearing Cardinal and Gold, giving the Trojans more weapons and more depth while draining some of the talent from the rest of the conference. The guys also dig into the pending NCAA Transfer Portal deadline of May 1, looking at some of the players Riley could potentially add before fall camp starts and how fast and furious things could get over the coming weeks and months. Ryan and Chris will be doing regular podcasts together going forward, so make sure you send in your questions addressed to them at podcast@uscfootball.com. With a record-number of fans in attendance for USC Football's 2022 Spring Game, Trojan fans were treated to plenty of offense as they try to forget an abysmal 4-8 finish in 2021. Led by former 5-star QB Caleb Williams, the most notable transfer that USC picked up this offseason, the offense stole the show over the weekend in Los Angeles as Williams completed his first 9 passes. Their crisp showing on offense reflects some of the improvements Lincoln Riley was hired to make when he came over from Oklahoma. On this episode of Locked On Pac-12, Spencer McLaughlin takes a look at USC Football's first Spring Game under former Oklahoma Football HC Lincoln Riley. With a brilliant offensive mind supported by some talented skill position players, the Trojans' offense should be able to score plenty of points. Based on the tape from Saturday, players like Austin Jones, Romello Height, and Kyron Ware-Hudson showed they deserved more playing time.Going forward, questions still remain for the USC Football program. Defense was never a strength (and was often a weakness) of Lincoln Riley's Oklahoma teams, and his DC Alex Grinch will now have to start from scratch on that side of the ball after the defense struggled mightily in 2021. If the defense can just be average, there's a good chance the Trojans will score more than enough points to resume their winning ways. Addressing the offensive line is something they might look to the transfer portal for to address for the 2022 season.Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!Built BarBuilt Bar is a protein bar that tastes like a candy bar.
