Margaret Meloni welcomes Elysabeth Williamson (https://www.elysabethwilliamson.com/) , a pioneering figure in the realm of partner-based yoga, to discuss the profound intersections of yoga, death, and self-exploration. Elysabeth introduces her unique approach to partner yoga, emphasizing that it transcends mere physical practice and delves into the holistic well-being of our entire being. This episode centers on Elysabeth's recent talk titled "Exploring the Great Mystery and Befriending Death," where she shares her insights on the transformative power of contemplating death as a means to reclaim the sacred nature of life's transitions. Margaret and Elysabeth engage in an open and heartfelt conversation about how the fear of death often overshadows our lives and stifles our ability to fully engage with the present. Elysabeth draws on her experiences leading groups through profound explorations of death, revealing how these discussions can transform fear into joy and connection. As they navigate topics such as the significance of Shavasana (the corpse pose) in yoga, the comforting power of companionship during difficult explorations, and the importance of self-love and compassion in overcoming anxiety, you are invited to reflect on your own fears and beliefs about death. This episode is not just a conversation about death; it's a call to embrace life more fully. Elysabeth shares practical insights from her retreats and workshops, encouraging listeners to approach the topic of death with curiosity rather than dread. Through exercises, such as contemplating self-love and exploring personal myths about mortality, Elysabeth illustrates how a deeper understanding of death can enrich our experiences of living. You will walk away with a renewed perspective on life and death, armed with tools to cultivate greater meaning and connection in your own life. Most of us have at least some fear of death. Our culture is obsessed with it but without a remedy. However, it's a completely different story for Believers! Pastor Wes reminded me recently that Jesus has authority over sin and death and death is our servant because we belong to Jesus. One of my listeners heard me talk about this and asked if I would have Wes on the podcast to dive deeper into this topic. I'm delighted that he agreed to do that and he's here today to help us reframe our experiences according to God's word and align our thinking about death with what Christ has transformed it into. Then one can feel that perhaps one's true work—one's work for God—consists in doing some trifling haphazard thing that has been thrown into one's day. It is not a waste of time, as one is tempted to think, it is the most important part of the work of the day—the part one can best offer to God. After such a hindrance, do not rush after the planned work; trust that the time to finish it will be given sometime, and keep a quiet heart about it.” (Annie Keary, 1825-1879)

Who is afraid of his death, his life is already gone…Fear only Allah I came across a YouTube (never say die) of the longest living people of the world, they live in Bama Yao County (China/Vietnam border). In Bama are living quite a lot of elderly over 100 years old, the oldest is 126Years old.The grandson of the 126 years old lady said she has lived so long because of her hardships in life. The custody is that the oldest of the family has his/her coffin in her home and if a younger member dies, he/she gets that coffin. And the oldest has to buy again a coffin,… If we have our coffin ready at our home, then the fear of death is gone.Even more, we live more in the here and now,…One should not fear death rather more that one has never begun to live. (Marcus Aurelius)I have faced quite a lot the death, even I tried so hard to live a normal life, and I failed again and again…I remember 4 years ago when I came out of the hospital, my entire body was paralyzed, no chance anymore… And God healed me. My friend Oskar, who had awful challenges in his life (faced many time the death) called me when I was waiting for the bus home. I told him briefly what happened and he said “again”? I had teased Oskar with his tragedies and forgot that I am not better, faced 4 times the death in the last 14 years, 1-time clinical death…After such challenges, I felt born again and to appreciate my time as a gift from God… Imagine every day is the same, no challenges… Do you think that such life can give you the will to over-live tragedies or to live long? It is rather more that we have forgotten to live and we are afraid of the death…. Because of our anxiety, we didn't take that challenge… The fear of death is one of our primer fears that we encounter in difficult situations. Our animal mind wants to protect us and interpret every threat as a life-threatening.How to reduce the fear of death? All spiritual schools have created techniques to overcome our fear of death or our body identification. Because our real being/soul is beyond our body, feelings, and thoughts. When we imagine our death in advanced and feel that, we reduce drastically our fear…Death Meditation.1.) For 10 min. Relax, feel your body and breath deep in and out for 5 minutes. 2.) For 20min. Imagine for instance: A.) your funeral that you are lying in a coffin; B.) that they burn your body; C.) lying on your deathbed and surrounded by your family; D.) killed in a car accident; E.) killed in a war. Imagine every detail and feel that, so that you cry… 3.) For 10 min. Sit in meditation and relax, breath deep for 5 min. 4.) For 10 min. Dance and celebrate your new birth. Message Pastor JasonWe continue our Bible study in the book Hebrews, The Jesus Supremacy, by diving into 2:1-15. This chapter offers a profound lesson on how doctrine informs practice, showing us that what we believe must move beyond knowledge into action. We explore the supremacy of Jesus as both fully God and fully human—the perfect mediator who bridges the gap between God and humanity. Through vivid imagery, like drifting on a river, we're reminded of the necessity of staying anchored to the message of Christ to avoid spiritual peril.Discover how Jesus's humanity and suffering fulfilled God's redemptive plan, dethroned the power of death, and freed us from fear. We unpack the practical application of these truths: what it means to live as God's family, to walk in faith, and to align our lives with Christ's mission. This episode is a call to fix our eyes on Jesus, embrace our identity as His brothers and sisters, and stand firm in the victory He's secured. Tune in for insights, powerful quotes from theologians, and encouragement to live out your faith boldly.Ravenna Church of the Nazarene530 Main Street, Ravenna, KY 40472Disclaimer: This post contains affiliate links. IN THIS EPISODE: Death is one of life's greatest mysteries, and even for Christians, it often carries a heavy weight of fear—not because of what comes after, but because of the unknown pain and sorrow in the process. While faith assures us of eternal life with Christ, the sting of death and the finality of goodbyes can still grip the heart. Yet, the Bible reminds us that death is not the end—it's a doorway to something far greater.Hear previous messages and find our social media at https://WeirdDarkness.com/Church! In today's episode, Dr. John reflects on Hebrews 2:14-15, unpacking the profound truth of Jesus' victory over death. By His own death, Jesus destroyed the power of the devil and freed us from the fear of death. This message explores the hope found in the intermediate state, the place where believers go after death, and addresses the lingering fears we may have about dying. Dr. John shares personal insights and encourages us to embrace the joy of Christ's triumph, knowing that death no longer holds its stingThe Minute You Die: As death comes to all, not only is it a common fear, but a common question. We all are anxious to know what happens after death. While God does not answer every curiosity, the Bible offers enough evidence to grant us hope, courage and comfort. Dr. John reminds us that despite having limited information, the Bible points us to a conscious blessed state, immediately after death, for every believer. Our confidence rests upon the person and work of Jesus Christ. He is Victor over death.
In this episode of the Teach Different podcast, Dan and Steve Fouts explore a quote from Chief Tecumseh of the Shawnee Nation in honor of Native American Heritage Month: “Live your life so that the fear of death can never enter your heart.” Dan and Steve break down the claim of the quote stating that fear can hinder decision-making and relationships, and that the quality of life should be prioritized over fear of death. They then unpack the counterclaim stating that understanding fear can enhance the value of life and motivate care for loved ones. They also ask essential questions for everyone's consideration: Who shouldn't let fear enter their heart and why? The concept is deeply intertwined with the notions of impermanence (anicca) and rebirth (samsara). Rather than being an end, death is seen as a transition, where the energy of one's consciousness continues in a new form, influenced by karma—the cumulative effects of one's actions, thoughts, and intentions. The ultimate goal is to break free from the cycle of death and rebirth through enlightenment, which means reaching a state of liberation (nirvana) where the mind is free from suffering and attachment. Mindfulness and acceptance of death are considered essential practices, as they help individuals live more fully and prepare for the moment of death with clarity and peace.Green burial is an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional burial practices that emphasizes simplicity, sustainability, and minimal impact on the earth. It typically involves using biodegradable materials, avoiding embalming chemicals, and opting for natural settings like conservation areas or designated green cemeteries. The goal is to allow the body to decompose naturally, returning nutrients to the soil, and preserving the surrounding ecosystem.Lambing season in Scotland, typically from March to May, is a busy and vital time on farms, as thousands of lambs are born each spring. This period is crucial for the meat industry, with farmers carefully tending to both ewes and newborns to ensure their health and growth. While lambing is often seen as a symbol of renewal and the start of spring, it is also a time of intense labor and long days for shepherds, who balance the joy of new life with the practical realities of raising livestock for food production.A Dream Within a DreamBY EDGAR ALLAN POETake this kiss upon the brow! And, in parting from you now,Thus much let me avow —You are not wrong, who deemThat my days have been a dream;Yet if hope has flown awayIn a night, or in a day,In a vision, or in none,Is it therefore the less gone?
In the compelling final episode of our three-part series on Death & Dying, we're joined by the remarkable Dot Maver for a profound exploration that challenges everything you think you know about death. This conversation goes beyond the conventional narrative of loss and separation to reveal a revolutionary perspective: that life, not death, is inevitable. Through personal stories, including Dot's transformative near-death experience in the Himalayas and her work with the Global Silent Minute initiative, this episode illuminates how death might simply be "a change of clothes" for consciousness. Michael Lindfield and Joseph Carenza guide us through deep insights about our essential nature as "fiery beings" and how our current incarnation might be just one day in the soul's eternal journey. Whether you're grappling with grief, contemplating your own mortality, or seeking a deeper understanding of consciousness, this episode offers practical wisdom for: - Transforming fear of death into an embrace of life's continuity - Understanding how service and purpose create meaning beyond physical existence - Connecting with consciousness across the "veil" through meditation and collective intention Join us for this enlightening discussion that doesn't just talk about death—it reveals the profound beauty and inevitability of life itself. Jesus was a freedom fighter. He liberated people from the powers of darkness so they could become who they were created to be. So if Jesus is our rabbi, we need to be just as committed to the ministry of helping people claim “no longer slaves” status. This series explores what that looks like. -------------------- WELCOME Find a time and attend a service with us: https://thehills.org/visit NEXT STEPS Have you made a decision to follow Jesus? In the latest episode of Musings From The Mount with Joseph Carenza and Michael Lindfield. This is the first in a profound three-part series on the essential, yet often avoided, topic of Death & Dying. In this episode, we delve deep into the mysteries surrounding life, death, and what lies beyond—exploring how death is not an end, but a transformative process that helps to unlock greater consciousness. Michael Lindfield shares a powerful concept: the “Near Birth Experience,” a fascinating counterpoint to the Near Death Experience, where the soul faces a resistance to entering physical life. Through this lens, we look at life's cycles not as finality but as continuous transitions, shifting between realms of existence. Joseph Carenza also offers personal reflections, from holding his beloved pets as they passed to navigating his own near-death and rebirth experiences. Together, we discuss how fear of death can hinder spiritual growth and explore how releasing this fear can free us to live more creatively, joyfully, and compassionately. Tune in to discover the esoteric teachings that reveal death as a gateway to higher states of consciousness and a more meaningful life. Don't miss this transformative conversation, where we explore not just the process of dying, but how to prepare for it, how to assist others through it, and how to live with greater awareness of our impermanence. With Light and Blessings. Her name is Mar, and she lives on an island out in the middle of the ocean, getting vitamin D on the regular... [03:25] Address Your Fear of Death Pain is inevitable and I wanna say that with reverence because we all go through loss, we all go through grief, It's just part of the baked-in human experience that our creator designed, right? Otherwise, it wouldn't be here. So let's get right to the question because I want to give some practical if anybody else is experiencing this. Okay, Mar, let's get into our question. Okay, our question today is: "I've recently been having a terrible fear of dying. I'm not sure where it's coming from, or why, because I haven't always felt this way. Has anyone else felt this way?" Bomb drop. This is from episode 535, Aaron Abke | The Law of One + How to Live in Love's Alignment. And I wanna start my share and my delivery of the wisdom believe will actually be practical for you with a quote from Rumi. Rumi says, I learned that every mortal will taste death, but only some will taste life. Man, I just love Rumi. When I say Rumi's quotes, it's like the hair on my arm stands up because it's so true, y'all. There are many men and women that just exist. They don't actually ever live. They are controlled by their fears. They allow their default mode network to search for danger on a constant. They allow their reticular activating system to gather evidence that they are in threat, constant. And I have personal experience with this, right? Like I am still at 44 healing and re-regulating my nervous system to be in peace and in homeostasis and out of hypervigilance. It's something that I'm just aware of, right? That's a gift that I've been given. So the gift that we're all given at birth, I mean, just think about this, think about this. Your mother carried you for 8 to 9 months. She carried you in her womb. Think of the sacrifice and the sacredness and the love that you were given before you exited her womb and came into the world and took your first breath. The beauty and the gift and the power in that is so profound, it's so profound. Just sit with that for a moment. So Lauren, when you're experiencing this fear of dying, encapsulated in every question, every problem is the solution, right? So if you have a fear of dying, what is the opposite of dying? The opposite of dying is living, truly living. I learned that every mortal will taste death, but only some will taste life, Rumi says. So if all of us will die, memento mori, all of us will die. Remember that you will die. But only some of us will taste life. Then what is the antidote to the poison of fear of death? Because I really think it's a poison, right, because when you're in fear of dying, what happens is on an energetic level, you start blocking the ways in which you express yourself, which you feel safe, which you feel the opposite of depression is expression, which you feel expressed. So if we consciously know, and this is why healing is mainly unconscious, I feel like most healing is like 90 plus percent unconscious somatic, it lives in the body. Then what is it in your life that has happened that was neutral, that you tied a meaning to, that you made a meaning of this event, Lauren, this event making you feel like you were going to die. Just go back in your nervous system. And this isn't a therapy session, I'm not a psychologist, but I've done and played around in this world of somatics and healing enough to know that my own healing pathway is your pathway in some way. So put your hand on your heart, put your hand on your stomach, take 10 deep breaths. And at the end of those deep breaths, just ask yourself this one powerful question. If I'm experiencing this fear of death, if I'm experiencing this fear in my body, where does it live, number one? Where is it? Is it in your throat? Is it in your heart? Is it in your stomach? Is it in your sexual organs? Is it in your perineum? Which of the chakras does it exist in? Because that's the starting place, right? Inspired by my anchor scripture for the week, Hebrews 2:13-14 TPT, I explore how Jesus sets us free from the tormenting dread of death.Highlights:Upcoming Travels: I'm preparing for a two-week overseas mission trip to teach about using creativity in prayer and worship at a conference for the Russian-speaking world. 2 Timothy 1:10 — This sermon calls to those who have a tendency to feel down or discouraged about life. It is for those who look around at the world and wonder what good can possibly come from all the evil that seems to run so rampant today. In this sermon, Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones preaches from 2 Timothy 1:10, and offers the believer some practical encouragement drawn from Paul's letter. Timothy, like many believers today, had a tendency for being down, especially with the anticipated death of Paul, his beloved friend and mentor. Knowing this, Paul wrote this encouraging letter to Timothy. His remedy for Timothy's sadness is to remind him of the gospel. It's easy to think that things have only been going poorly in the world during this lifetime. However, this evil has been occurring since the beginning of time, and it's crucial to remember that God has been acting from even before that time. The Christian's hope and rest is in the gospel because God is in control of it all and through Christ who has cancelled out the effects of sin and death. Christians are those who have been made alive unto God, and thus, can look at this world knowing that there is a perfect world awaiting followers of Jesus upon their deaths. This is the hope that Paul imparted to Timothy and that Dr. Lloyd-Jones wants to give to the listener.
