Why do some people consistently do the things they don't want to do? Dr. Killeen explores Albert Gray's idea that the difference isn't discipline, talent, or even enjoyment of hard work. Successful people have a purpose strong enough to make the uncomfortable work worth doing. From following up on treatment to studying your practice numbers or having difficult conversations with your team, the hard parts of practice ownership aren't going away. He explains why a stronger purpose can make those tasks easier to face and turn them into habits that move you toward the life and practice you're trying to build.

There are two very different kinds of atheism: the sentimental optimism of John Lennon's Imagine, and the hard, brutal realism of Friedrich Nietzsche's "death of God." Lennon imagines a world without religion, borders, or possessions, where everyone naturally lives in peace. Nietzsche saw more clearly that if God disappears, so does the Christian moral framework that gave the West its ideas of compassion, humility, charity, and care for the weak. But Nietzsche's alternative has its own fatal flaw. A world built on strength, power, and self-assertion cannot explain why the strong should care for the weak — even though every human being spends large portions of life in weakness, dependence, and need.

Are you strong enough to glory in your weakness? In today's Words From The Word devotion, Pastor Roderick Webster opens 2 Corinthians 12:7-10 (KJV) to explore one of the most surprising truths in all of Scripture — that God's strength is made perfect in our weakness. You might be asking: Why didn't God remove Paul's thorn in the flesh when he prayed three times? Does Satan really have the power to stop a servant of God from fulfilling their calling? What does it mean to actually take pleasure in suffering, persecution, and hardship? And how can my weakness become a source of spiritual power? In this devotion you will discover:- God sometimes allows thorns in our lives not to harm us, but to keep us humble and close to Him- The danger of pride in ministry — and why losing a sense of servanthood means losing spiritual power- Why Paul said "most gladly will I glory in my infirmities" — and what that attitude looks like for us today- How living a clean, disciplined life backs up everything we preach or share about Christ- The powerful truth that when we are weak, then we are strongIf this devotion blessed you, please like, leave a comment, share it with someone who needs it, and subscribe so you never miss a word.#WordsFromTheWord #KJV #BibleDevotion #ChristianLiving #GoodNewsBaptistChurchStay connected with GNBC:

Strong Enough to Carry It, Healed Enough to Put It Down: Dr. Robert Bleck on Source Completion Therapy

Healthy Mind, Healthy Life

Play Episode Listen Later May 17, 2026 37:01

Send us Fan Mail Content note: This episode contains discussion of childhood abuse, including physical and sexual abuse. Please listen with care. If anything brings up difficult feelings, consider pausing and reaching out to a mental health professional or support service in your country.   We talk a lot about mental strength, grit, pushing through, staying positive. But what if the strength we built around our pain is exactly what's keeping us from healing it? In this episode of On Air Healthy Waves, host Yusuf sits with Dr. Robert Bleck, licensed mental health counselor and creator of Source Completion Therapy. From his own difficult childhood to decades of clinical practice, Dr. Bleck shares why coping is not the same as healing, why unhealed wounds always come out somewhere (as anger, addictions, phobias, or compulsions), and how his three-phase approach gently takes people from awareness, through reliving, to completion. This is a tender, honest conversation for anyone who has spent years managing pain they never had the chance to truly treat. About the Guest: Dr. Robert Bleck is a licensed mental health counselor, National Certified Counselor, former university professor, and psychotherapist in private practice in Plainview, New York. He is the founder of the Source Completion Therapy Center and the author of Give Back the Pain: Emotional Healing Through Source Completion Therapy. Key Takeaways: Coping and healing are not the same thing. Mindfulness, exercise, and yoga help you function in the moment, but if the source isn't addressed, the pain quietly resurfaces in other ways. Unhealed emotional wounds always come out somewhere. They become what Dr. Bleck calls "diversions": addictions, phobias, road rage, obsessions, numbing, eating struggles, or chronic relationship patterns. Real strength isn't carrying the wound forever. It's having the courage to gently go back to where it started, with proper guidance, and complete what was left unfinished. Source Completion Therapy works in three phases: awareness (who hurt you), reliving (letting the feelings surface in a safe way), and completion (expressing what was done and how you felt about it). Healing is possible at any age. People in their 40s, 60s, even 80s have done this work. The body and the soul both keep the record until someone helps you put it down. There are some moments in life that stop you in your tracks and make you confront what it means to be held together by God's grace. This week, This week, I'm opening up about the accident that left me in a neck brace, the reality of living in between miracles, and what it looks like to trust God when life suddenly feels fragile. We're talking about vulnerability, strength, being cared for when you're used to caring for everyone else, and the hard truth that some of us don't know how much we matter until life forces us to slow down. If you've ever found yourself trying to push through pain, avoid your emotions, or figure out how to trust God in an uncertain season, this conversation is for you. Jack is joined by Adam Michie to pick through the wreckage of a miserable defeat at the Stadium of Light. The pair discuss the perceived lack of fight on display against Sunderland, asking if this squad has already accepted its Championship fate without so much as a whimper. The loss further compounded by the opposition manager's brutal post-match assessment that Tottenham simply weren't strong enough to worry him. We then turn our attention to Roberto De Zerbi's first game in charge. We analyse how De Zerbi Ball translated to the pitch and question the massive, surprising decision to leave Xavi Simons out of the starting lineup. The conversation inevitably shifts to the consistently poor officiating we continue to endure. Jack and Adam ask if it is time to buy into the conspiracy theories after the referee completely ignored Brian Brobbey's blatant push that sent Cristian Romero crashing into Antonin Kinský. With Romero now potentially out for the rest of the season and maybe missing the World Cup, we ask the tough question: are we shedding tears for Tottenham losing our only competent defender, or for Argentina? Facing the very real prospect of the drop, we then dive into the terrifying financial realities of relegation. With over £831 million in net debt and a massive looming drop in revenue, Adam explores whether this is truly end-of-days stuff for the club, before we desperately try to find even the smallest glimmer of hope to cling to. The Canine Paradigm

In Episode 363 of The Canine Paradigm, we talk about a mindset that changes everything, I'm strong enough to tackle this situation. The first step is learning the dog you actually have, not the dog you wish you had. We discuss reading the individual in front of you, understanding what drives them, and identifying where they feel capable versus where they feel unsure. From there, we focus on confidence. When a dog lacks confidence in a specific area, many owners either avoid it completely or push into it too hard. Neither approach builds real strength. Instead, we explain why you need a skillset that lets you build around the weak column. You develop clear training reps, predictable setups, and controlled exposures that teach the dog it can cope. Over time, the dog stops reacting with the same emotional charge because it now has a history of success. This episode is about turning uncertainty into capability. It is about showing the dog a path forward, then proving it through repetition. If you are working with a dog that hesitates, startles, shuts down, or overreacts, this conversation will help you build a plan that creates real confidence, not just temporary avoidance. In this episode of Get Back To It, Dr. Rita Roy speaks with Platoon Sergeant Jonathan Carter, whose spine condition began as mild shoulder blade discomfort during his early years of military service and gradually progressed into cervical degenerative disc disease with nerve involvement. What initially seemed like a posture related issue evolved over several years into radiating pain, hand clumsiness, and loss of function, symptoms that were easy to dismiss while meeting the physical and leadership demands of military life. After extensive conservative treatment, a sudden worsening of symptoms led to advanced imaging and a definitive diagnosis. Jonathan ultimately underwent a two level cervical fusion to relieve nerve compression and stabilize his spine. While surgery quickly resolved many of his neurological symptoms, recovery required patience, discipline, and a renewed focus on rebuilding strength and confidence in his body. Jonathan reflects on navigating injury while serving as a leader, the pressure to push through pain, and the importance of advocating for your health, even in high performance environments like the military. Now returning to endurance training, competing in triathlons, and preparing for an ultra marathon, Jonathan's story highlights that resilience is not just about pushing through, but recognizing when to act, trusting your care team, and rebuilding both physical and mental strength.Support the show

Welcome to The Daily, where we study the Bible verse by verse, chapter by chapter, every day. Our shout-out today goes to Patrick Greer from Corry, PA. Thanks for your partnership in Project23. We cannot do this without donors like you. Our text today is 1 Corinthians 9:24-26. Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it. Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. So I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as one beating the air. — 1 Corinthians 9:24-26 Paul now shifts metaphors—from mission to muscle, from adaptability to discipline. After explaining how he flexes wisely for the sake of the gospel, Paul makes something unmistakably clear: flexibility without discipline leads to drift. Freedom without restraint leads to confusion. Paul assumes something most modern readers resist. Strength is not indulgence. Strength is self-control. Athletes don't train by accident. They submit themselves to intentional limits. They regulate what they eat, how they sleep, what they pursue, and what they avoid. They say no to many good things so they can say yes to the one thing that matters most. Paul applies this logic directly to the Christian life—and especially to how believers engage the surrounding culture. He does not merely discipline his behavior. He disciplines his theology and practice. He disciplines how he engages and when he refrains. He knows that careless words, reactive arguments, and unrestrained engagement can undermine the very gospel he is trying to advance. This matters enormously in a moment when moral clarity is fading, and public debate is loud, emotional, and often unhinged. Many believers feel pressured to engage constantly, respond instantly, and argue endlessly. But Paul models a better way. He refuses to run aimlessly. He refuses to shadowbox cultural outrage. He engages with purpose, restraint, and direction. Self-control, then, is not weakness—it is wisdom. It is the discipline that keeps conviction sharp and witness clear. Paul runs with intention because eternity is real. The prize is imperishable. And a life without restraint cannot carry that weight. Being strong enough to say no is not retreat. And sometimes this is saying no to ourselves. DO THIS: Identify one area where you need to practice restraint in how you engage culture, media, or debate for the sake of clarity and faithfulness. ASK THIS: Where might my engagement be reactive instead of disciplined? How does self-control strengthen—not weaken—my witness? What limits would help me run with greater purpose? PRAY THIS: Lord, train me to live with intention. Give me discipline in thought, speech, and action so my life reflects the weight and worth of the gospel. Amen. Coaching skills matter, and the depth of those skills can dramatically influence the results we create. My early coaching experience was rooted in mindset work and learning how our thoughts influence our actions and shape our results. That framework was incredibly valuable, but over time my understanding of coaching—and my skills as a coach—continued to grow. Scripture makes it clear that our bodies are not incidental, disposable, or secondary to spiritual work. They are temples of the Holy Spirit, designed to host God's presence and execute God's will. Let me ask you directly: are you strong enough to be a dominant? Not strong enough to tell her what to do. Strong enough to actually lead her. Because real strength isn't about being unmoved by emotion. It's about being able to handle emotion without shutting down, without running away, without needing it to stop. And if you can't do that, you're not strong enough. Not yet. In this episode, I challenge the lie that dominance requires emotional armor. I break down why that version of "strength" is actually fear, why she keeps testing you (and why you keep failing), and what it actually takes to be strong enough to create real surrender. This is confrontational. It's supposed to be. Because too many men are hiding behind performances of strength instead of doing the work to become actually powerful. Questions about our courses?
